Hogwarts is a great place to live. Really, it is. Not a great place to learn, but living at Hogwarts was, in James' opinion, the best kind of lifestyle he could have. His friends? Awesome, his crush? Beautiful and definitely into him, his grades? Ok well maybe there was some improvement to do. Nevertheless, Hogwarts was truly where he thrived.
-What do we have this morning? asked Sirius, who conveniently took all the same classes as James so he wouldn't need to actually pay attention and be organised.
-'ransfigu'at'on, replied James, halfway through a bite of his breakfast muffin.
Sirius went back to his cereal, complaining about someone he didn't like in that class. James stopped paying attention to him when he saw her. Lily Evans. The most beautiful girl he'd ever seen in his entire life. Ever since year one, he'd been head over heels for this girl. For four years, he did all kinds of tricks and pick up lines to try and get her to finally fall for him, but never succeeded.
Lily sat down at the complete opposite of where he, Sirius, Peter and Remus were seated. She looked at him for a second, rolled her eyes when he waved at her and never looked at him again.
James did thrive at Hogwarts, even if his relationship with his future wife hadn't been evolving as quickly as he wished. The main reason James enjoyed Hogwarts was because of his friends. Honestly, what else was there? Lily was definitely not into him and he didn't really have a purpose. All he was good for was being prongs and being welcoming to Sirius when he left his house.
