Regulus woke up to Remus rushing in and shouting, âGuys, get up! We're going to Diagon Alley today, re-â He stopped as he took in the sight before him. Remus hadnât come into this room the entire time that Regulus had been staying round. He was greeted with a tooth-achingly sweet sight- James and Regulus both shirtless, cuddling.
Regulus began to stir, slowly opening his eyes and sitting up slightly. His voice was raspy as he said, âJamie? What's going on?â His eyes then widened further as he realised that James wasnât awake and that it was Remus making the noise.
Remus leant against the doorframe and smirked. He was wearing faded blue baggy jeans, a faded grey Bowie shirt that was way too big for him, and he had a stripy thick jumper under his arm. Regulus suddenly understood his brother's attraction. He raised an eyebrow at Regulus in a suggestive way and Regulusâ eyes widened as he frantically shook his head. Remus simply just chuckled as he teased, âYouâre lucky your brother didnât come to wake you guys up, or poor âJamieâ would be a dead man.â
âDonât call him that!â Regulus suddenly snapped, startling Remus a little. He instantly knew heâd made a mistake and rubbed his neck, âSorry, thatâs- it- would it be okay if only I call him that?â Regulus asked, bashfully. Remus nodded his head in response, âOf course, sorry I didnât mean to make fun. Anyways, get James up, have a shower, preferably not together,â he giggled to himself, âand get dressed, we leave in an hour.â Regulus rolled his eyes but then gave a thumbs up.
Remus left the room and Regulus began to shake James, shouting at him to get up. James eventually began to stir, and when he was fully awake, they began to get ready for Diagon Alley.
James got up, put his glasses on and went over to the now shared wardrobe to pick an outfit for the day. As it was now the end of August, it was getting a bit colder- especially in the countryside where James lived. It was for this reason that today, James decided to go with a warmer outfit. He picked a pair of long, brown trousers and an old, worn band tee that used to be black and has now gone a sort of dark grey.
While James was getting dressed, Regulus had a shower, mainly because he knew that he wouldnât be able to be in the same room as a shirtless James and NOT stare at him the whole time. Regulus used to take showers every morning to warm himself up at Hogwarts because he would wake up shivering, but now that he slept in the same bed as James, he was not only sleeping through the night, but also waking up warm and well-rested.
Regulus washed his hair, got out of the shower, brushed his teeth and then went back to the bedroom with only a towel wrapped around his waist. James was already fully dressed when got back to the room.
âHey, Reg-â James suddenly stopped talking as he turned to look at Regulus. Regulus didnât have any clothes on, just a towel wrapped around his waist that went down to his ankles. His hair was wet from the shower and it was dripping down his neck and back. He looked so edible. James was struggling to hold himself back these days.
Suddenly, Regulus was up in Jamesâ face, waving his hand in front of his face to catch his attention- âEarth to James, are you there?â James suddenly snapped out of it, looking up at Regulusâ face. âYou okay, Ja-â Before Regulus could finish his sentence though, James was surging forwards and his lips were slammed onto Regulus with such a force that Regulus was pushed backwards until his back was against the door as he deepened the kiss.
Jamesâ hands were tangling themselves up in Regulusâ wet, curly hair. Regulus tasted like toothpaste and sea salt, and he smelled like Jamesâ eucalyptus shampoo- he smelled like James. He pushed up against Regulus, and as he did, he found himself pulling away suddenly.
He looked at Regulus, his lips were swollen and his hair was tousled from Jamesâ hands. He looked confused, and then upset. âOh my Godric, Reggie Iâm so sorry, I- I- I just didnât realise what I was doing until I was doing it and-â Regulus cupped Jamesâ face with his hands and grabbed his hands, grounding him before he could spiral.
âItâs okay, Jamie, I get it. I saw you on that platform when I was eleven and thatâs when I knew I was different.â He smiled sweetly at James before continuing, âBut youâre... youâre James Potter, youâre the Hogwarts golden boy. And I'm Regulus Black, heir to the Black family throne... who just ran away, snogged a boy while wearing only a towel, and has been sharing his bed all summer.â He dropped Jamesâ hands and went over to the wardrobe to get dressed.
He didnât have many clothes because he had run away, but he did have some of Jamesâ old band shirts and jeans, Moony had given him one of his jumpers- apparently, he has loads because people give him them as presents because heâs always wearing them- and Effie had bought him shoes and a pair of properly fitting trousers.
He chose to wear one of Jamesâ old band tank tops, showing off his arms, and a pair of ripped black jeans.
James was staring at Regulus, more than normal. First, he snogged him, hard, and now he was watching Reggie wear his Bowie tank top from 3rd year.
âJamie, stop staring, mon amour. We canât do this. Sirius would murder you, and we would never see each other. Plus you have your NEWTs next year, you have to start focusing.â
James smiled, âBut we can do this. I know that Sirius would go mad, so we donât tell him. Iâd come and find you every night, I have my ways. And I promise I would study every night unless we were having a quidditch party, Iâll be more than ready for 7th year. I promise.â
Regulus rolled his eyes but he was blushing on the inside. âLetâs just go get our shoes on, weâre leaving soon.â James nodded, and they turned to exit the bedroom.
When they got downstairs, Sirius and Remus were talking in the kitchen, and Effie and Monty could be heard talking in the living room. It was very domestic. Regulus liked it.
They put their shoes on then went to meet Sirius and Remus in the kitchen.
âMorninââ, said Sirius, Remus had his hands in his hair and was plaiting it. It was sickeningly sweet. âWeâre leaving in 20 minutes, youâd hâve better get some breakfast.â
Regulus rolled his eyes, âSirius, please enunciate properly.â Sirius stuck his tongue out at him. James went over to the cupboard to pick out cereal. He picked up two boxes and turned to look at Regulus.
âReggie: cornflakes or coco pops?â Regulus turned to look at him, âHmmm, coco pops.â So James poured them a bowl of coco pops and added milk.
25 minutes later, they found themselves in Diagon Alley- they used Floo Powder to get there as it was the fastest way- and after a quick stop at Gringotts, they all split off to do their own shopping. Sirius and Remus split off together to go buy new robes because Sirius finally had a growth spurt.Â
James and Regulus split off to what Regulus thought was to buy their books, but he found himself being pulled off to the side down an alleyway.Â
âJames, what are you-â But Regulus couldnât finish his sentence because Jamesâ lips were slammed onto his and he was forced against the wall as he deepened the kiss. Regulus had his hands up in Jamesâ hair, tangling himself in it as his mouth was explored by James.
It was just as good as last time, if not better- this time, no one pushed the other off, Regulus was the one with his hands tangled in hair, and James had brushed his teeth by now- and Regulus never wanted it to end, but it did.
âRegulus, is that yo-â James was pushed off of Regulus, as he fixed his clothes and cleared his throat- trying to look less âsnogged outâ. He knew that voice, that voice belonged to Dorcas Meadowes, the reckless girl who had come barrelling into his carriage in first year.
âOh my salaz-â Regulus cut her off, âDorcas, you didnât see anything. Please, Dorcas, you didnât.â Regulus glanced over at James, he looked terrified.
âBut-â This time, it wasnât Regulus who cut off Dorcas; it was James. âPleaseâ, His voice was shaking, âPlease, Dorcas, I-Iâm not- Iâm- Iâm-â James couldnât say it, they all knew what he was trying to say: âIâm not outâ, but he couldnât.
But Dorcas understood- his terrified shaking probably helped- âOh. Oh, James, Iâm so sorry. I would never do that. I promise.â
She dragged James to the side slightly and proceeded to whisper in his ear, âIf you ever hurt him, no law will stop me from using the unforgivables.â James gulped and nodded and Dorcas let go of his arm.
âWeâve got to get shopping Dorcas, but Iâll see you on the train.â Regulus waved goodbye, and him and James walked off in direction of the bookshop.
They spent the whole day shopping for school and kissing in alleyways. James couldnât wait to get home and put his feet up.
