The Sorting Final Part and Other Stuff
Piper's POV:
Piper watches anxiously as the Ks and Ls get sorted, waiting for her turn: M. She's anxious to get into Gryffindor with Jason and her friends, normally she wouldn't be worried about these things but Slytherin did sound quite like her.
"McLean, Piper!"
Ok, here goes nothing, she thinks to herself, taking deep breaths. She walks up to the stool with the old hat sat on it, maybe I can charmspeak it to put me in Gryffindor? She quickly shakes her head, no, that's what will get her into Slytherin. Not that she has something against Slytherin or anything but she just really wants to be with the rest of her friends this year. Trembling, she puts on the old hat.
Hello there.
"Oh, umm hi?"
I see that you want to be in Gryffindor with your friends?
"Yes please."
Hmm, I suppose I could do that for you. So that I don't owe your friends for making them suffer a bit.
"Wait what? Suffer?"
Memories.
"Oh.."
Ok then, I'll put you in Gryffindor even though I think you would do best in Slytherin.
"Thanks."
"GRYFFINDOR!"
Piper lets out a breath she didn't even know she was holding and waves happily at Jason, taking off the hat and walking over to the cheering and clapping Gryffindor table.
-----I know this is really lazy but I'm also listening to the Percy Jackson Musical songs so I'm very distracted and cba so I am skipping the rest of the sortings but Will, Leo and Frank also all got sorted into Gryffindor-----
Me currently: "It's one foot forward at a time, dust off all that grit and grime! We still got a lot left to dooo...DRIVE JUST DRIVEEEE STAY AHEAD STAY AHEAD AND STAY ALIVEEEE" they will never get old for me.
IF YOU PREFER: just pretend that McGonagall put them all in Gryffindor for the purpose of the quest and to keep an eye on them as she is still head of Gryffindor.
Also, the story will be in past tense from now on.
Percy's POV:
They were sat next to the trio from the train, and someone called Neville who looked nice enough.
"Where did you guys say you were from again?" Hermione asked and I sighed, thinking of Camp. Hogwarts was a lot more impressive than he had thought and he could see now why the wizards saw the castle as a home.
"Camp Olympia," Annabeth answered and turned to talk to Hazel and Piper, leaving him with the wizards.
"Uh, hi" he attempted at making conversation. Harry looked at him suspiciously, daring him to say something more, so naturally, he did. "So... what do you guys learn at this school, Hogwarts?" Percy smirked and Ron and Harry narrowed their eyes at him.
"Are you not a wizard? We learn magic of course," Hermione asked suspiciously and Percy tried to hide his confusion- of course, magic, the thing Hecate was talking about.
"What Percy means to say was that we have a slightly different way of learning back in America, different culture," Annabeth smiled at Hermione and he sighed in relief.
"How are those candles floating?" Percy asked, wrong question, Hermione and Annabeth, who read Hogwarts: A History on the train journey, started lecturing him about how they can float and the ceiling and boring stuff like that. Honestly, he wasn't listening at all.
"Hey Kelp Head!" someone shouted from behind him and he whipped around- knife at the ready- Gods, he was jumpy after his time in the Pit. Thalia and Nico were standing behind him, grinning.
"What do you want- oh schist." there was a long tear in the fabric on his forearm, Harry's eyes widened and he punched Ron and pointed at his arm. Did he have a cut or something? Percy looked down at his arm, the Roman SPQR tattoo was showing, if only a little bit. He quickly covered it up and looked at Thalia, hoping that she would get the message and use the mist to cover it up as Hazel was too far down the table.
Luckily, Thalia got the idea and flicked her wrist slightly, manipulating the Mist and when Percy looked down at his forearm again, the SPQR tattoo or 'branding' as Annabeth would call it was gone. Percy nodded thanks to his cousin and turned back to the trio, making a point of showing his arm.
"Does anyone know where I can get this fixed?" He waved around his arm and the trio flinched, clearly expecting him to be up to something no good.
"I know a spell," Hermione said once she recomposed herself and she pointed her wand at him.
"Hey, hey, hey, hold up. What are you doing?" He asked, putting his arms up in surrender and pushing the bench backwards, which surprisingly actually did go backwards.
Annabeth smacked him and hissed, "She's fixing your robes, Seaweed Brain."
"Oh, right. Sorry Hermione." He held out his arm again and she huffed, apparently not appreciating his suspicion, and waved her wand a bit. His robe stitched itself together instantly and he gasped. "That's so cool! Can I learn how to do that Annie?"
"Do not call me Annie."
"My apologies, Wise Girl," He kissed her forehead and the trio's eyes widened, clearly not expecting them to be in a relationship. Percy smirked at them when Ron muttered, "Get a room." Hermione smacked him and whispered something to him and his ears went bright pink.
"Speaking of rooms, do you know where ours is?" He gestured to himself and Annabeth.
Hermione was just about to answer when she was interrupted by the old woman, McGonagall, clearing her throat, "Welcome back to another year of Hogwarts and welcome for the first time, to the new first years, and, the new American exchange students." She paused, glancing at the demigods before continuing her speech. "I hope that they will be welcomed with open arms and will be treated as equals. As always, the Forbidden Forest is out of bounds," She glared at Harry, Ron and Hermione pointedly and they shrank back in their seats. "May the feast begin." She waved her hand and food appeared on the four tables.
Percy looked hungrily at the food, "You drool when you eat too." Annabeth laughed and he blushed.
-----Time skip to after the feast-----
"Will you three please show the new students where to find their dorms?" Professor McGonagall asked and the trio nodded and started walking away quickly. Percy even had to use his speed-walking skills to catch up with them, Annabeth dragging him by the arm and all.
"This castle is so confusing," He complained, "I'm never going to learn where anything is." Leo nodded in agreement, making some kind of robot with scraps of metal and wires and whatever else he needs from his toolbelt.
"You get used to it, just watch out for the moving staircases." Harry said and Ron laughed even though there was nothing funny about it.
"Moving- you know what? I'm not even gonna ask." Frank commented and Leo looked up and smirked at him, Hazel glared at Leo and he hid behind Piper, who pushed him away.
Finally, they reached Gryffindor tower and Harry told the painting the password to the common room- wait, the painting? Percy opened his mouth to ask but then decided against it, which is unusual for him- ADHD and that. The demigods followed the wizards inside after a slight struggle getting Frank inside (he was too tall) they all filed in and gasped in awe.
"It's amazing every time." Harry commented, looking around, feeling at home with the warmth of the fire and the plush, red armchairs nearby. Gryffindor banners hung from the ceiling and dates for some kind of sport matches were on the wall- DitchQuip Percy thought it says but he figured that he was probably wrong, since he can't read.
"What does that say?" He asked.
Ron looked at him strangely, "Can you not read?"
Hermione smacked him again and apologised, "Sorry, Ron that sounds rude!"
"Sorry 'Mione." He mumbled and she rolled her eyes.
"It's fine, we've all got dyslexia though, except Frank." Will replied.
"Oh, I see. Does your school have special learning facilities for dyslexia?" Hermione asked, intrigued by the difference of their 'school'.
"Uh- sort of." Jason answered.
"Well, that is the boys' dormitories and that's the girls'-" Harry started to say.
Percy interrupted him, "Wait, me and Annabeth need to be together."
"And me and Jason!"
"Jason and I Piper." Annabeth lectured.
"Me and Frank- Frank and I too!"
Hermione just looked annoyed, "Well- you can't do that unless you get special permission from McGonagall-" but Percy was gone as soon as she said that, Annabeth and the rest of the demigods in tow.
