Assigned Rooms
Percy's POV:
Nico shadow travelled himself and Percy, Will wouldn't let him take any more, something about 'doctor's orders'. The rest of them sprinted to the office as quickly as they could. They arrived outside of the office (She didn't take Dumbledore's office after he died) and the gargoyle placed outside let them in straight away. He pushed the door open and stormed in, Nico close behind him.
"The dorms." Straight to the point.
"What about them?" McGonagall raised her eyebrow.
"Me and Annie need to be together." He said, glaring at the professor.
"I'm afraid that I can't do that-" The rest of the demigods joined them.
"You can and you will. You are the headmistress here, are you not?" Piper demanded, putting a tiny bit of charmspeak into her voice. McGonagall looked inclined to let them but shook it off after a few seconds.
"Yes but-" She started.
"Then you can let us couples," he gestured at the demigods vaguely, "room together."
"Yes I could but that would not be fair on the other students and it is against the school rules." Her voice was stern but Percy was not backing down.
"We are not-" He started.
"Listen here woman, you will let us share a room because we aren't the other students and neither are we here by choice." Annabeth's tone was commanding and scary enough to make Zeus himself give in. McGonagall was visibly stunned, obviously no one else had stood up to her like this before. Good, he thought, these wizards need waking up. His hand was in his pocket, his fingers curled around Riptide in its pen form.
"Me and Annabeth can't sleep without the other nearby." Percy butted in, glancing around at the other demigods. Nico was standing in the corner, looking amused but glowering at the professor at the same time. Jason and Piper were holding hands and Leo was pulling a face, looking at them, Hazel was leaning into Frank's tall, muscular figure but didn't fail to glare at McGonagall. Will and Thalia were standing off to the side, this didn't affect them after all, with Will not dating anybody and Thalia being a Hunter. She just looked annoyed she couldn't be doing something 'more useful' as she put it, like helping Lady Artemis track down a monster they were looking for before she got dragged along on this quest.
McGonagall eyed them suspiciously, not believing them. "I'm afraid I can't do that."
"You know about us, and what we are, don't you?" Annabeth asked.
"..Yes" She hesitated.
"So don't complain to me when Aphrodite shows up in your bedroom at the middle of the night demanding to know why you've separated her OTP ship." Percy finished for her.
McGonagall's eyes widened with shock, "Aphrodite...?"
Just then, Harry, Ron and Hermione decided it would be a good time to barge in.
"Yes. And you wouldn't want to be cursed with ugliness would you?" Jason demanded.
"My mother doesn't take kindly to people messing with Percy and Annabeth's relationship." Piper threatened.
"Are you threatening me, young lady?" McGonagall stood up and noticed the three wizards standing at the door. "Mr Potter, Granger, Weasley."
Percy swivelled around to see them standing at the door, "How much did you hear?" he demanded.
"Not much, what has her mother got to do with this?" Harry pointed at Piper accusingly.
"Her mother is powerful." Jason glanced sideways at them.
"A powerful witch? I've never heard her surname before." Hermione asked curiously.
"No, she's not a witch." Piper answered and Leo sniggered.
"How is she powerful then?" Ron scoffed.
"There is more than one way of being powerful, Weasley." Annabeth gave her I-would-kill-you-but-you're-not-the-most-important-thing-right-now glare. Ron cowered back and Percy gave him a sympathetic glance, having been on the receiving end of that glare more than once himself.
"Wise Girl, give them a break. The wizards probably aren't used to other sorts of powerful I guess," The daughter of Athena turned her glare to him.
Harry scoffed, "You have no idea what we've been through."
Now Percy was angry. How dare he assume that they hadn't been through anything?!
Nico opened his mouth to counter with some hateful retort, no doubt, but Percy beat him to it. "Look, chosen one." He spat out the name with distaste, "I don't know or care what you think about me. But the moment you try to tell us we don't know what war is like or when you insult my friends. That is the moment when I care. And right now? You've just done both of those things."
Percy hadn't noticed but with each word he had taken a step closer to the wizards, specifically Harry. The guy didn't even have the decency to look ashamed, he just glared back at Percy defiantly.
"Oh yeah? And what are you gonna do?" Harry asked spitefully.
"Potter! Jackson!" McGonagall's voice shouted sternly. "I expected better from you Potter." Harry hung his head, so now he's ashamed? Percy thought indignantly.
"Sorry Professor." Percy smirked at him, there was no way Percy was giving in this easily. No one would be hearing any apologies from this son of Poseidon tonight.
"Jackson? Do you have something to say?"
"No Professor." McGonagall narrowed her eyes at him.
"Ugh, I was kidding myself thinking that Percy would respect the adults in this world." Thalia sighed.
"You speak like you aren't from this world. You keep calling us 'wizards' like you aren't one yourself." Hermione observed.
"How the Hades is someone who isn't Annabeth this smart?! That shouldn't be possible, and I thought we were supposed to keep this a secret!" Leo exclaimed, talking rather fast-paced.
"Valdez. What did I say about using my dad's name in vain?" Nico death-stared at Leo and he, understandably, shrunk back. Percy didn't blame him, Nico could be scary when he wanted to be.
"Sorry Nico." Leo squeaked and his nose lit on fire. Some things never change, Percy shook his head and saw Thalia smirking too.
"Leo! Your nose is on fire!" Piper hissed and Leo started before hurriedly patting out the fire.
The wizards stared at them, dumbfounded.
"Your dad?" Hermione asked incredulously.
"Yeah-" Will slapped his hand over Nico's mouth before he revealed anything, causing the 5'6 ball of angst and death to blush bright pink. Funny, Percy thought, does Nico have a crush on Will?!
"It's just a game we play, pretending gods are our parents." Hazel explained quickly.
"Right..." Hermione eyed them suspiciously.
"Like Zeus, Apollo and stuff?" Ron asked, much to the surprise of Hermione.
"Yeah.. and stuff." Thalia snorted and Frank winced.
"Students. Let's please discuss the matter at hand." McGonagall pleaded.
Percy looked at her, confused, for a moment before regaining his composure- "Oh right yes, uhh well I want to room with Annabeth." How composed you are Percy, he thought.
"No." She replied simply and Harry smirked.
"Look, old woman." The four wizard people gasped. "Me and Annabeth have been though everything together. Been through literal hell together."
McGonagall raised her eyebrow, "Hell?" Everyone, except from Percy and the trio, winced.
"Yes. Hell. And for a matter of fact, neither of us can get any sleep without the other nearby. So unless you want two sleep deprived, cranky demig- teens on your hands, I suggest that you should let us room together." Annabeth added and Percy nodded along with her.
"I- I see.." She sighs, "Well, ok then."
Percy punched the air, "Yes!"
"Wait- what about me and Frank?" Hazel asked.
"Frank and I, Hazel."
"I suppose so.. yes. Come with me." McGonagall stood up and strode out of the office and they followed behind like eager puppies. "I suppose Potter, Granger and Weasley can come along too." She sighed again, obviously not the happiest about the new room arrangements.
She led them down the hallways and up moving staircases, ok, sure that's normal, Percy thought. Maybe he had been a bit overly aggressive earlier, Ron and Hermione did seem quite rattled when he stole a sideways glance at them.
They stopped outside of the same painting of the talking fat lady as before, "Gnome Ponders."
"What?" Percy and Nico asked at the same time, Nico glowered at Percy.
"It's the password to get in." Hermione explained, seeing the confused looks on their faces.
"Oh.. right." Jason said, looking at them like they were crazy, until the portrait swung open, that is.
"Wow." Piper and Hazel breathed. Percy thought it was cool, but he could've sworn that the last time they came here the portrait didn't move at all. Maybe he was just too caught up wondering why they were talking to paintings that should be inanimate. Harry and Ron smiled, they were obviously very proud of their second home at Hogwarts.
"Well go on, get inside." The demigods scrambled to get inside the common room for the second time that day. Gasping in awe, red and gold flags hung from the ceiling, abandoned games of wizard chess lay out on tables. It was awesome, not as cool as camp, but still awesome. The common room was deserted as everyone was already in bed, exhausted from the long train journey. McGonagall led them up a third staircase, Percy hadn't noticed it the last time they were in here. Harry, Ron and Hermione clearly agreed with him because they gasped in shock and began to question its appearance and where it led to.
"This staircase only reveals itself when it is needed, it has not been needed until now." McGonagall hushed them and they gaped at her.
At the top, there was a long corridor with 7 doors. Each door had a name engraved onto a celestial bronze plaque. How did they even get that bronze? Percy wondered, though it didn't really bother him.
Annabeth was mumbling about the architecture, "How is this even possible... no space..." Again, Percy wasn't listening.
"Each room will be personalised to your liking." McGonagall told them.
"Do we get a room each?" Harry asked hopefully but the professor stared him down.
"No."
The first door they came to had the name 'Will Solace' on the plaque, inside was several different lights and a big window. Suited for a child of Apollo, who work best in the sunlight. A comfy bed with a bright yellow duvet, patterned with suns and stars. A few hyacinths grew in plant pots along with yellow flowers on the window sill. Basically a mini version of the Apollo cabin at camp. A guitar lay in the corner of the room. Will ran over to it and read the note on top of it out: 'A gift from your dad, the one and only. -A.' Will was ecstatic.
The second room had the name 'Nico di Angelo'. Nico didn't let anyone look inside.
The third room was for 'Thalia Grace', inside was decorated silver and electric blue. Some band posters were stuck on the walls, but Percy didn't know which ones they were.
The fourth said 'Percabeth' on the front. Like the name Aphrodite always called him and Annabeth whenever they were together? Inside, it was mostly sea green and blue but there were tints of olive green around as well. Cool! Him and Annabeth get a sea-themed room to stay in!
The fifth was 'Jiper', Percy racked his brain for a minute, wondering who it meant. "This one must be for Jason and Piper guys!"
"Wait- how can you read that?" Frank asked.
It's in AncientGreek. Annabeth said, in Ancient Greek.
Hazel, Jason and Frank had been taking Ancient Greek lessons and were not practically fluent in the language, the Greeks had been doing the same with Latin, though Percy seemed to know quite a lot already.
The wizards were all looking at them confused, Percy hadn't realised because he'd been too busy looking at all the rooms to notice.
"What language is that?" Hermione asked, bewildered.
"Greek," Piper replied, hoping that they wouldn't notice the difference between modern and ancient.
"You guys speak Greek?" Ron asked, practically jumping up and down.
"Uh- yeah." Jason answered.
The inside of the room was pink and blue, like candyfloss (or cotton candy). Piper groaned at the sight of all the pink and muttered something like: "Why is it always the pink with Mother?"
The sixth said 'Frazel' and Percy caught on more quickly this time, "Guys! Your ship name is so cute!"
Hazel blushed, "..thanks?"
The inside was red and gold. Red for Ares and gold for Pluto, Percy guessed. (I have no idea what colour to associate with Pluto so I just used gold.)
The final room was for 'Leo Valdez' and inside was orange, filled with all sorts of mechanical thingies. Some things Percy recognised, some things he didn't want to know about. Leo yelped at the sight- unable to contain his excitement.
"It is already late, I suggest you all get some rest, you have classes tomorrow." McGonagall told them and promptly left, the trio following reluctantly behind her.
Everyone went into their respective rooms to get some rest for tomorrow. Although, no one actually expected to get any rest, they were on a quest after all which meant that their sleep would probably be plagued with demigod dreams or just really bad nightmares.
Percy and Annabeth said goodnight to the others and went into their room. It had a small ocean scent to it, Percy turned to Annabeth. "You don't mind the smell, do you?"
"Of course not," She replied and Percy sighed in relief. "It smells like you." Percy grinned sheepishly.
"I'm going into the bathroom to get changed," she told him and he nodded.
While he waited for her to finish up in the bathroom he explored the room a little bit, he was in the middle of leaning out the window to get a proper look at the view when Annabeth came back in.
"Oh my gods Seaweed Brain, one of these days I will die of a heart attack. And it will be all your fault." She laughed and Percy feigned being stabbed in the heart.
"Get your pyjamas on Percy," she threw some at him and pushed him into the bathroom.
Once he came back out again, she was already asleep in her bed. Percy didn't have the heart to disturb her so instead he smiled and got into his own bed. "Goodnight Wise Girl."
