First Impressions
Harry:
Harry wakes up to a loud tapping on his window. Hastily, he gets up and puts his glasses on, and when his eyes adjust to the light he gasps in surprise. An owl is waiting to be let in, he didn't recognise it as belonging to someone he knows.
Opening the window to let the owl in, it looks so much like Hedwig, a snowy white owl with beady, yellow eyes. A letter is tied to its left leg- from who?
Carefully, as to not hurt the owl, he unties the knot, turns the letter over and gasps in surprise once again when his eyes are met with a red seal stuck onto the back. It's from Hogwarts, but why? Harry didn't go to school there anymore, tomorrow he was turning 18 and had 'finished' his seventh year (which he wasn't actually present for) already.
Trying to contain his excitement, he opens the letter, fumbling with the seal which is stuck on way too well:
Dear Mr Potter,
We are pleased to inform you that, considering the circumstances of the previous year, you have been invited back to Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry to complete your seventh year. Please find enclosed a list of all necessary books and equipment.
Term begins on 1 September. We await your owl by no later than 31 July.
Yours sincerely,
Minerva McGonagall
Headmistress
Internally screaming with joy, he quickly scribbles out an acceptance letter and ties it onto the owl's leg, placing 5 knuts in its pouch. He lets the owl out of the window and immediately starts packing.
------Time skip to about a week later------
Aunt Petunia (who's behaviour towards him had drastically changed since the end of the war) had dropped him off outside of the Leaky Cauldron to pick up his books from Diagon Alley.
Once he gets into Diagon Alley, he starts searching for Ron and Hermione, having already confirmed with them that they would meet up today outside of Madam Malkin's.
Eventually, he spots them coming towards him.
"Ron! Hermione!" he beckons them over and Hermione pulls him into a bone-crushing hug.
"Hey, that's my girlfriend you're hugging there Harry," Ron jokes and Hermione punches him on the arm. "Ow! That hurt 'Mione."
"Good, you deserved it."
Harry laughs at their childish arguing and is about to enter the robes shop when he hears someone shout, "Pinecone Face, you give that back right now!"
"Oh yeah, Kelp Head? What are you gonna do about it, cry to your daddy? Oh wait you can't because we've been sent to another continent on a que-" the taunting voice is quickly shut up by another.
"Shh! Be careful Thals!" a blonde girl came into view with her hand over another girl's mouth.
"Sorry Annie."
Another boy, ghostly pale and wearing all black, was cracking up, holding onto a boy with blonde hair for support.
"Harry! Harry, snap out of it!" Harry snaps his attention back to his two best friends.
"Sorry 'Mione."
"Who do you think they are?" Ron asks curiously, voicing my exact thoughts.
"Probably just people visiting, they sound American," Hermione comments.
"Yeah, probably-" he is cut off when a boy with raven black hair and sea green eyes bumps into him.
"Oh sorry! I wasn't looking where I was going."
"It's fine." He replies, turning back around to talk to Ron and Hermione.
"Yeah, Water Boy apologises for his idiocy," the goth, emo boy says and 'Water Boy' glares at him.
"I told you not to call me that, Death Breath!" he retorts.
What's with all the weird nicknames? And what sort of name was 'Death Breath'?
One thing was for sure, these guys were pretty suspicious.
"Di Immortales, guys! You're scaring them! Anyways, can you tell us where the clothes shop place is?" Another boy asks, Merlin, how many were there? This boy was blonde and wore glasses like me, except mine are cooler,
"Uh, yeah it's this one here," Harry gestures to the building behind them.
"Oh great! Thanks and sorry about them," the blonde guy, with a- was that a Texan accent?- says.
"No problem?"
Once the strange group was out of sight he breaks the stunned silence, "What just happened?"
"Honestly, I have no idea." Hermione replies, looking just as stupefied as he felt.
"How about we go to Flourish & Blotts first instead?" Ron casts a cautionary glance inside Madam Malkin's.
"Good idea."
------Time skip to Kings Cross------
"Bye Mum!" Ron shouts before scrambling to get aboard the Hogwarts Express and leave Mrs Weasley's rather long talks behind, Harry quickly chases after him as well.
The trio walk down the train, looking for an empty carriage. Eventually they find one and sit down.
"What teachers do you think we'll have this year? A lot is bound to have changed since-" he didn't need to finish his sentence, they both knew what he meant: since the end of the war.
"Probably some boring ones and a few that decided to stay," Hermione reasons.
"Yeah but I reckon that-" Ron is cut off by the carriage door sliding open.
"Sorry but can we sit here, everywhere else is full," A Chinese, 6'5 boy is standing in the doorway.
"Yeah, we were late because someone, aka Repair Boy, lost his massive trunk. Like how do you even lose something that big?" a voice behind the boy said.
"Sure, why not?" Hermione welcomes them in despite me telling her not to, with my eyes of course.
(A/N the carriages are way bigger than they actually are, because I want them to be.. and because of magic I guess)
"Thanks, I'm Frank by the way," the boy, Frank, introduces himself, "and this is Hazel, my girlfriend," a girl steps out from behind him and they take a seat.
"Nice to meet you, I'm Hermione, that's Ron and that's Harry," she points to each of us in turn, "And you are?" she asks, directed at the boy who bumped into me a few weeks ago at Diagon Alley.
"Percy Jackson," he takes a seat opposite me.
"I'm Thalia, and that's my lil brother, his girlfriend, Leo, Death Breath, his boyfri- I mean Will and that's Annie."
"Thals those aren't our names," the girl named Annie scolds.
"Right, sorry. That's Jason, Piper, Leo, Nico, Will and Annie."
"Annabeth."
"Yeah yeah."
The two girls had a short staring contest until Ron cleared his throat and they both looked up. Clearly these guys fought a lot.
"So how come we've never seen you guys before?" Hermione asks to break the awkward silence as they sit down.
"Oh, we're new here," Will, was that Will or was the other blonde one Will? No, he's pretty sure the one speaking is Will.
Harry sees Hermione try to hide her surprise, "Oh, we don't get new students often, which school do you come from?"
"Uhhh-" Percy starts but Annabeth cuts him off.
"We're from Camp Olympia."
Hermione and Harry frown, "I've never heard of that before."
"Uh yeah- we don't really like that much publicity," Annabeth answers.
"Ok then.." Harry is even more suspicious of them now, he can see in Hermione and Ron's expressions that they are too.
What are they up to? Whatever it is, Harry is determined to find out.
