Chapter 4
When Remus woke up, he felt hot. With a groan he turned around to find the source of the heat. He looked around with sleepy eyes and saw he was next to someone. Wait what? He only fell asleep with Sirius. Oh no. Sirius. Remus felt himself getting 10 times hotter, if that was even possible. A sleep deprived Sirius clearly noticed the change in positions and let out a groan himself. And okay, fuck. Remus did not need to think about that groan right now. He tried to turn himself back around again, afraid to wake up the man lying next to him.
“Why are you worming around again Moons?” Sirius said, voice filled with sleep and a little irritation. Remus, that usually had a way with words, was left a little speechless and forced out a small hum. “Come back. It’s too early.” And okay. Yeah easy. Just move an inch. Totally easy. Remus did not move, finding himself unable to do so.
Sirius, who clearly had expected a warm body to be flushed with his at that point, now took matters in his own hand and Remus suddenly felt an arm around his middle and was pulled against Sirius yet again.
So here he was, again. A knee against his thigh, an arm around his stomach and Sirius face in the back of his neck letting out small puffs of air.
“I can hear your thinking Rem. Go back to sleep.”
Remus did in fact not go back to sleep. He spent the next 20 minutes or so overthinking every move he did and after that he decide it was enough torture and went up to get a book. When he shook the duvet off and went to his bag, he found himself immediately being cold. After he took his book, he considered just getting dressed and go out in the kitchen to make some coffee. He looked back at the sleeping Sirius and made his choice.
When he was under the duvet again, he found Sirius practically clinging to him in the matter of seconds. A smile crept up on his face and started reading.
It had been almost half an hour when Sirius started to wake up. “Moony?” too invested in his book he only hummed, regretting it immediately knowing how dramatic Sirius could be when you didn’t give him all your attention. Knowing what would happen next, he looked down from his chapter. Sirius took that as a win and smiled that Sirius Black grin. Remus knew that whatever he did after would end in him not reading anymore.
If he went back to reading, Sirius would be offended and take the book away and closing it (and Remus would definitely not remember what chapter he was at) so that wasn’t really his best option. There also was the option of begging Sirius to let him finish his chapter, but Remus, the ever so proud, did not want to do that either. So, he only had one option left. Which was just take the bookmark Lily had bought him a few months back, and just admit defeat.
So, he took the bookmark and put his book down. Remus was now facing the grin that yet had failed to disappear and shook his head. “What do you want Padfoot?”
“Why is it you think I want something?” With only a look from Remus’ side he continued, “Ouch Moony, you wound me.” Another look, “Make me a cup of tea?” He was now giving these puppy-dog eyes that Remus could never say no to, and Sirius knew that so he, of course, took advantage of it all the time. Remus only groaned but made no effort to move. At that Sirius just pushed him so Remus pushed again. That was a mistake. With an offended look Sirius began to attack him. Remus squealed and they began to wrestle.
That ended up with an annoyed Mary coming into their room and said, “Can y’all do your weird love making at any other time of the day? Some of us are trying to sleep.” Even though her face was clear with annoyance you could hear some fondness in her voice. Remus didn’t quite understand what it meant. He just looked at the other two while they shared a meaningful glance.
Kicking his duvet off Sirius placed a hand on the lower part of Remus’ stomach and lifted himself up. And shit, Remus felt his cheeks heating up at the gesture. Sirius only smirked at that and went out of the room to probably make himself a cup of tea.
After he left Remus noticed Mary was still standing there with a knowing look on her face. Almost as if she knew. Remus felt his cheeks becoming even hotter.

The group were now sat in the living room playing some sort of drinking monopoly game. The rules were simple, yet there were some people who thought it was difficult to understand the game. Remus was beginning to get a bit bored and therefore had made up some other drinking game in his mind. For an example, every time James and Sirius would hit each other he would drink, every time Marlene would yell that she was ‘the best’ he would drink, every time Peter said ‘uhm’ and so on. Lily seemed to catch on and asked him quietly about the rules. So now an hour in, they were beginning to get a little drunk. The others, who was simply too invested in the game didn’t notice until it was too late. Remus and Lily were starting to giggle, leaning up against the other, plus their cheeks were now a permanent flushed pink.
“Uhm, how much did you guys drink?” It was Peter. After a look at each other they burst out laughing and took another drink.
“We created a drinking game.” Lily slurred out. Remus just looked at her in betrayal as if she had just told them his biggest secret. “What?! Oh, I wasn’t allowed to tell?” She looked at him with an extremely sad look realizing what she had just told the others.
The rest of the group just started laughing. But she was looking at Remus as if she was silently begging him to forgive her. Remus just put his head on her shoulder, and it was naturally followed with an arm she put around his waist. Remus saw out of his eye; Dorcas was taking out her phone to take a picture of them. And besides her, Sirius who look a little tense, but he had a small smile on his face.
Feeling sentimental Remus just spoke, “I love you Lils.” Not really caring about the audience they now had.
She kissed his temple and muttered an ‘I love you too’. Remus could cry. She cared for him; they all did.
“Potter, I think Lupin is stealing your girl.” Remus looked up at James and he just glared at Marlene. But he was laughing so he clearly wasn’t all that mad.
“Yeah, I know…” He muttered with a fake sadness, but a smirk quickly took over on his features. “Moony, you know, you could always join us?” He said in a seduceive voice. “Ouch!” Someone hit him. Remus looked besides James. There Sirius was, looking a little mad. Why was he looking mad? Weird.
Remus just rolled his eyes, forgetting the game, and learned a little more into Lilys soft frame. It was now starting to get a little cold he noticed. The alcohol was clearly not working. He reached out for some more when he felt a hand around his wrist. He looked up and Sirius was there. When had he gotten so close?
“I think you’ve had enough Moons.” Moons. He mostly only called him that when they were alone.
Shrugging off the ‘Moons’ he softly spoke, “but I’m cold.” Laughter, he had clearly not spoken as quiet as he thought. Remus just sent a glare their ways making the laughter come out a bit stronger. Not even noticing the hand on his waist had gone away he felt another hand get there. Sirius’ hand.
“Come on, let’s get you to bed.”
-
Pain. Pain was all Remus felt when he woke up that morning. Wait no that’s not true. He also felt extremely cold. Yeah, that pretty much sums it all up. A headache and feeling so cold.
He turned around hoping to find a sleeping Sirius besides him, but no. There was a table besides the bed with a glass of water on it. So, no warm Sirius besides him, but a glass filled with water. Yeah, that could maybe do.
After chugging the water, he went out of the bed to put a sweater on. When he went into the living room, he could hear some music coming from the kitchen, probably Taylor Swift if it was Lily who had a say in it. Yup, there she was singing along. Sirius, Peter and Mary sitting at the bar table. Peter had his head down in a cup, probably filled with coffee, while Sirius and Mary were in some discussion about fashion.
Lily who finally saw him smiled at him purring him a cup for him. Mary turned around and smiled brightly at him, “Good morning, Remus!” Peter sent a death glare her way clearly minding her morning outburst.
“Morning,” he went over to hug her. Or steal her warmth, he didn’t quite know himself. “you’re warm.” He sighed and she just chuckled.
He caught Sirius’ eyes and, oh, those beautiful eyes. It was almost as if his eyes softened. Maybe Remus was imagining things (it wouldn’t be the first time when it came to Sirius), but then he could just be looking at him like that as a friendly love. Like how Remus looked at Lily, or anyone in their friend group for the matter. But he doubted he looked at them with that much love. Who knows?
-
The morning went slowly by. Remus overthinking every move Sirius made, Lily making everyone, besides James, dance with her, a tired Marlene cuddled up against Dorcas complaining about how early it was, Mary singing along to the music and Peter half-asleep with his head on the table.
After they ate Mary and Sirius went out for a walk while Lily, Remus and Dorcas talked about one of their books they had agreed to read together. Peter, James and Marlene, clearly not bothering listening to their ‘nerd talk’ as Marlene had called it, started to play some sort of hide and seek.
James who couldn’t stand not being without Lily for more than 10 minutes decided to hide in her lap. Some mastermind he was.
Being too focused on a debate with Dorcas, about who their favourite March sister were, Remus failed to hear Mary and Sirius coming back.
“James, why are you in Lily’s lap?” At the sound of Sirius’ voice he jumped a little, going mostly unnoticed, except Dorcas who sent him a smirk ‘damn you Meadowes’, but after sending a forced smile their way, they went back to the debate.
A loud ‘Shhhhhh’ and a fuming look Sirius’ way, Sirius clearly understood because he started to laugh. With an even angrier glare James made him shut up. But it was too late.
“James! I see you,” It was Marlene, running through the hallway way too fast stumbling into several objects. Remus looked at a mildly horrified, but also unfazed, Dorcas with a smirk and she sent him a ‘shut up’ look.
What Remus had failed to see himself was, Sirius basically were besides him now. He had a few seconds to realize what was going on, and nothing could’ve prepared him for what happened after. Sirius sat down, practically on Remus’ lap. Mildly horrified himself now he heard a distant snort probably coming from Dorcas.
Gathering himself he choked out, “Uh, good walk?” Another snort, but this time it was coming from the guy on his lap.
“Yeah, you could say that.” He said with an almost knowing smile. And what was that? Why was he looking at Remus like that? Was he hallucinating again?
They were smiling at each other so sweetly when Dorcas coughed trying to get Remus’ attention. Damn you Meadowes.
He hummed as for her to go on hoping what he was sending was a clear enough death glare.
“Never mind you’ll tell me why Beth was your favourite sister later.”
