Seeing Things Differently
Remus’ POV
I hate superhero movies.
They usually went against my belief that the world was not split into two.
It wasn’t that you were either a hero or villain.
Instead it solely depended on the people telling the story at the particular time.
You might feel that you’re a good person and a thousand people would agree with you, but on a bad day you did something to someone that changed the course of their entire lives and they despise you for it.
Immediately I realized this, I decided to try my best and not be that person for people.
That’s how I got my easy going personality and became generally liked.
However I have some unresolved issues within me and sometimes they broadcast themselves on how I treat people whom have a different approach to life than I do.
For example;
Sirius Black.
I heard of Sirius since I was a child. Everyone knew him.
Even as a child his existence was the cause of insecurity for many of my classmates and even me, especially when I got my accident.
He was beautiful, slim, and had featured in more magazines than he probably could count to.
His clumsiness was considered cute not disastrous, his imperfections were considered what made him relatable instead of a target, and things he did that I would be bullied for made him funny.
As a child it’s hard to notice that jealousy and resentment is what makes you hate someone you don’t even know.
The truth is I was jealous of Sirius. I worked hard to be such a good dancer so that my scars would be overlooked while he was beautiful and won awards.
He didn’t work for anything he got.
He was born into a rich family and got everything he wanted.
While my parents had to struggle to afford stuff for me.
After a while I stopped my obsession over him and focused on my own career but he was Sirius Black.
He definitely entered my radar over and over again and I hated the easy life he had.
I couldn’t have been more wrong.
I hated how wrong I had been about him.
I am sorry for how wrong I was about him.
After the first hang out we did I noticed how differently I was raised from him. It wasn’t just him either.
During rehearsals even when everyone else was goofing off and just having fun, Sirius and Regulus were seen practicing and perfecting their movements.
Hanging out with Sirius made me correct all the wrong assumptions I had made of him.
Firstly his slim body was a bye product of a harmful diet and not because he was God’s favorite. A diet culture introduced by his mother.
He wasn’t rude, he was awkward and his haughty nature was from being trained that way and having no contact with real humans to even get normal social cues.
He wasn’t homophobic, he was gay and was not out to his parents because they were extremely homophobic.
The Black brothers were extremely close and without realizing turned to each other in uncertain situations.
He was a huge fan of me and had a cute habit of ranting to anyone who would listen about how amazing I was, I also included.
He was extremely mischievous and was always ready for a prank and a joke both on and off camera. I’m pretty sure he would have the most footage along with James. They made an endearingly exhausting pair.
Sirius was a fun person now that he was comfortable with everyone on set.
After rehearsals we all hung out talking and laughing and while the Black brothers’ usually said stuff that made the rest of the group share glances, it was all fun with them.
Finally it was the day for the first full episode of Dancing with the stars live airing. Everyone was in costume in the waiting room with the television where we could see everyone’s performances.
Sirius was sitting beside me and his legs were shaking in a nervous tic.
Not wanting him to loose energy and forgetting all about the cameras I placed my hand on his knees to stop his movement.
“Don’t be nervous” I whispered in his ear and he looked at me worriedly.
“I can’t mess this up for you. I really want to at least get to the finals, even if we don’t win, I don’t want you to leave the competition early because of me.”
I laughed silently wondering how I ever thought this guy was selfish.
“It’s a team work darling. If we lose it’s on both of us. Besides you have worked harder than I have, spending literal hours in the studio even when you are supposed to be sleeping.”
He looked at me shocked. “How do you know that?” he asked suspiciously and I frowned as his cheeks were red in embarrassment.
“I always pass the studios on my nighttime walks and I see you. Plus there are no eliminations for this round. Come on let’s watch and have fun.”
The show started and I smiled at his obvious excitement on watching everything and everyone.
I ended up spending more time listening to his commentary and watching his reactions than the actual performances of the other dancers.
I laughed at his jokes and marveled at how expressive he could be.
I understood now why people loved seeing his movies.
I hadn’t seen anyone because of my personal grudge but now I would definitely be going to see them all. I wanted to see what part of himself he showed people that made them love him as much as they did.
“Remus it’s our turn” he whispered to me and I got up and led him to the stage.
I didn’t remember anything, the stage, lights or even the yells from fans.
All I saw was Sirius and we were practicing our routine and having fun instead of on a stage.
The smiles came easy for me and when we finally met in the middle of our revealed forest for the final dance sequence the movements were easy and the chemistry was unforced.
The judges gave us a 9, 9, and 10.
We definitely were safe for next week because the added scores would be used next week.
Sirius screamed and hugged me tightly as I spun him around.
We finished up with the airing and went to shower and change.
James lay down on his bed which was beside mine. “You and Sirius did an awesome job today by the way.” He said and I laughed at how sleepy he looked.
James was an early to bed early to rise person.
I decided to start a live stream to see how many of my fans had seen the show.
After the live I was about to go to bed when I saw an article pop off on my notifications.
‘Remus Lupin and Sirius Black in secret relationship?'
What the hell?
