Hermione shivered. It was chilly in the dungeons. Then, his gloved hand wrapped around her bare one, warming it.
"I should take you back upstairs, my love. They'd miss you."
She shook her head. "They know I went to see someone and I won't be back soon."
Severus looked at the mask in his hands. "See me you did."
She grasped his hands. "I'm so sorry. I just…I don't want you thinking you need to wear that stupid mask around me! I loved you before, and I love you now! Regardless of your face!"
He looked down. "I was never handsome, but now I'm hideous, Hermione."
"No, you're not. You're wearing the scars of your bravery."
And she kissed him, not letting him speak anymore. He relented, dropping the mask onto the floor.
