Harriet gasped seeing the Halloween decorations Severus had bought. There were so many of them. Way too many… and Halloween was a month away!
"Severus…. Severus, love, did you buy all of this?"
"Yes, I did," he answered, coming into the room and giving her a kiss.
"But… I thought you hated Halloween? I mean don't get me wrong, I love all of them…but I thought you didn't do such things?"
He sighed. "I didn't. I hated Halloween for a long time. It represented the day Lily died on my fault."
"Severus…"
"But now, it's the day you lived Harriet. And you enjoy the decorations and you have more to mourn than me."
"Doesn't make your feelings less important."
"I know, but now I'm looking at it as the day the love of my life survived, not the day my childhood friend died."
Harriet smiled. She knew the day would always be bittersweet, but growing up Muggle, she'd dreamed of one day decorating her house for Halloween and eating as much candy as possible.
Now that she was older and had her own house, the dream had come true.
"Thank you, love," she whispered and hugged him tightly. "It's perfect."
