4. It was the perfect fall day to get lost in the woods together.

It was the perfect fall day to get lost in the woods together. The weather was amazing. Overcast, just about 12 degrees and the wind was nothing more than a sweet breeze.

Although, the perfect day would have been not to get lost in the woods. But Hermione missed Severus and she'd wandered around the Forbidden Forest thinking of him.

Foolish thing to do really, since it seemed she inadvertently had crossed into Centaur Territory.

After Umbridge, no humans were allowed in that part of the Forest anymore. Even after the war, they've kept themselves away from humans.

All…except one.

"Hermione!" her lover's voice sweetly came and she turned.

Severus Snape was walking towards her, one of the rare times he let her see his true-centaur-self.

"What are you doing here?"

She couldn't help but smile at him.

"I'm sorry, love. I was missing you and somehow…I got here. I'm sorry. I know… I shouldn't be here."

"Oh, love. Maybe that's not how I wanted to have you here, but of course you can be here."

She came around to hug him and her left hand rested on his back. Hermione almost chuckled seeing his tail react to her touch.

"What do you mean? I'm a witch…they don't allow…"

He took her right hand into his. "But you're my witch," he murmured, bending down to give her a kiss.

Hermione felt herself blushing.

That I am.

"You're beautiful when you blush," Severus said, gently caressing her face. "Never has anyone looked at me like you do, not while like I'm…." He gestured to his horse body.

Hermione frowned. "I told you I don't care. It's your heart I fell in love with."

He smiled. "So you did. "It's getting late. Come on up, I need to get you back at Hogwarts before dark. Tonight is a ritual night, and some of my…fellow centaurs, while they'd love to meet you, they'd prefer you weren't here for them tonight without a proper introduction."

Hermione nodded. Technically, even if she had promised herself to Severus, he hadn't yet introduced her to his centaur family. Trust between wizards and the magical creatures had long been broken and despite them knowing they could trust her….it took time.

"Up?"

"On my back," he said, patting his body.

"But! Centaurs… that's not allowed, isn't it? It's considered disrespectful by others. I know even Firenze didn't like it. Only did it to save Harry."

Severus shook his head, bringing her close into an embrace.

"It's not that it's not allowed. It's more the principle. We're not horses, but for centuries Wizarding World had treated us as such. But this is different. You're the woman I love and I don't mind in the slightest."

With trembling hands, Hermione went on his back wrapping her arms around his waist.

Without a word, he took off running.

"Severus Snape if you don't slow down right now…!"
