- They watched in horror as thick fur sprouted in the moonlight
Words: 334
Thick fur sprouted in the moonlight. Face turned feral, hands grew claws.
The children screamed. Rosmerta shushed them, but it was too late. He'd heard them and he was coming their way.
She was hurt and bleeding. Fenrir had helped fight the assailants off, but in the end they'd forgotten about the Moon. He'd begged with his eyes to run and save the kids-they'd just fended off the Death Eaters.
Turning to the terrified kids she threw them a portkey. "Hold it tight no matter what. It will take you to safety."
Not giving them time to reply, she sent them away.
It was now only him and her.
"Fenrir," she whispered, collapsing to the ground. She didn't have the energy to get to the second portkey, fallen somewhere behind the beast.
"My love, I'm sorry."
The werewolf growled at her and came closer and closer. But it didn't attack. Instead it was watching her bleeding arm closely. Its snout came close to her and for a second she thought he'd bite her, or worse, kill her but he did neither.
…
One moment the wolf was controlling everything, and wanted to hunt the fresh meat- the next, Fenrir was back in control. And his beloved was bleeding in front of him, kneeled down.
He tried to get her to bandage her wound, but she seemed too weak.
Maybe he could carry her to the castle grounds. They were on the one end of the Forbidden Forest tho. It would be a long trek.
He bowed to her.
Please, understand me.
….
"You want me to jump on you? Fenrir?" Rosmerta asked tentatively.
The werewolf nodded. She latched herself to him, hugging him.
"Fenrir," she whispered. "The second portkey is somewhere here. You don't need to carry me to Hogwarts. Just find it."
The wolf turned and started running around, sniffing the air. Within five minutes he snatched the old boot between his teeth.
Trembling, she gave him a kiss. "I'll take us home."
