It Begins
Ever since arriving at Shiz, Elphaba has had her share of challenges. Mostly related to her green skin. Or all of it is related to her green skin. People are intolerant. But that is to be expected. She is used to people gawking. Being treated differently. Being rejected. Being treated like a freak just for existing. She didn’t have any illusions that her life would ever be any different.
Being accepted into Shiz was one of the few times in her life that she had been accepted for anything. Of course, the girl who had become her roommate was less than pleased. The blonde appeared to have the same low opinion of her as everyone else. Their relationship had been antagonistic at best.
But something had changed after Oz Dust. It had started slow. Subtle things like Glinda, as she now wanted to be called, offering to walk with her to class. Style her hair. Do her make up. It then grew to her telling Elphaba to sit with her at lunch. Spending more time talking with her in their dorm room. Or just asking Elphaba for her opinion on various topics. Appearing to take a real interest in Elphaba herself. One that went beyond a strange fascination with her skin.
She had no idea what to make of it, and that terrified her. Fear of rejection ran deep. A lifetime of being treated as ‘the other’ having taught her to never let anyone in. It was not something that she could easily ignore. She knew better than to hope that they were becoming friends.
But that hope still surged. She had begun to think of Glinda as a friend. Or something close to it anyway. She did seem genuine in how she treated Elphaba. There was an openness in those blue eyes that Elphaba often wondered if it was possible to fake. They had dropped the honorific – Glinda stated that there was no need for that when it was just the two of them. Despite knowing better, knowing that she would only end up being hurt in the end, Elphaba had grown to care for the blonde. More than she liked to admit.
Her feelings would only get more complicated from there.
It started when she had been roused from sleep by … something . Confused, she opened her eyes to a darkened room. Nothing appeared to be amiss. But she knew that it was. The air in the room felt wrong. It made her skin tingle. “It’s ok, Elphie, go back to sleep.” The voice came from the neighboring bed. But the blonde did not sound normal. She had whispered the words to Elphaba, but her voice was strained with a slightly higher pitch. Almost as if she was in distress. It was enough to wake Elphaba up fully.
“Glinda? Are you ok?”
The response was quick. Too quick. “Yes. Go back to sleep.” Now talking instead of whispered, the strained quality to the blonde’s voice was even more noticeable. As was the higher pitch to her voice. She looked over at the direction the voice had come from and tried to focus on her surroundings. She couldn’t see her, so she tried to listen. The blonde seemed to be breathing heavily and there was a slight rustling that Elphaba couldn’t identify.
Now even more confused, and slightly alarmed, Elphaba turned on the lamp on her bedside table. Cringing at the sudden onslaught of light, she focused her eyes on the blonde once her eyes had adjusted to the light. “Glinda? What’s going on?” Moving her eyes over the blonde, she scanned her eyes over the blonde before her eyes caught the strategically placed pillow, and the slight motions she thought she saw underneath it. Oh.
The blonde had noticed it as well. “Stop staring.” Elphaba’s eyes then snapped back to the blonde’s face. She felt her face heat up, embarrassed at having been caught. But the blonde was speaking before she could even say anything. “My suppressant tea stopped working. I need to take care of this problem , and I’d rather not have an audience. Could you please just go to your sister's room or take a walk? Anything! Just… I really need to be alone! Shoo!" The last word accompanied by a slight hand motion, the desperation in the blonde’s voice hard to ignore.
Elphaba took a deep breath before realizing her mistake. The blonde’s scent now flooded her senses, sending shivers down her spine and making her body feel warm. Elphaba would be lying if she claimed that the scent wasn’t inviting, that she didn’t like it. It was so different from how the blonde normally smelled. She tended to favor flowery or sickly sweet scents that never felt natural. Over the course of their relationship changing, she had admitted to Elphaba that it was a perfume that she used to mask her scent. Mask her status as an alpha. Had said as much one evening. “I can’t be who I am and be an alpha, Elphie. It’s not proper.” Elphaba had asked how that would work with marriage. Glinda was dating Fiyero at that point. Would that even work with both of them? Glinda had admitted that she didn’t know, but she would deal with it when the time came.
In the end, Glinda’s attempts at subtlety did not matter. Her being an alpha became known all over the school. In a world where Betas are more common, the blonde being ‘special’ made everyone take note. The blonde had learned to wield it like a weapon. Use her status to charm those who found her alpha-ness exciting. But she still kept using the perfume that made her smell all wrong. To Elphaba at least. She had no idea if it was like that for the others. But Glinda had always felt off, and she had not liked it. But this… This was different. Far preferable. The more natural scent coming from the blonde at that moment was making it harder for her to think. Elphaba could feel her body responding to the scent. Making her undergarments uncomfortable. It made her want to move closer to the blonde. But knowing that she shouldn’t.
Oblivious to the struggles of the green girl, Glinda had made a pained noise. “Please Elphie! Just leave me. I need…” She watched as the blonde squeezed her eyes shut before she hunched over and swore. Taking several deep breaths to try to calm herself. “Just… let me deal with it. It hurts.” She now sounded like she was near tears. It cut at Elphaba – making her own heart clench.
She had been worried about sharing a room with an alpha at first. She had heard plenty of horror stories. Mostly from Nessa after she had been revealed as an omega. Stories about how alphas just take what they want without caring. Especially in situations like this one. Where they are driven by pure instinct. Being an omega meant that she could be in danger if there were any alpha’s around with less than stellar morals. She had only expressed those concerns once. To Nessa after she had realized that she was sharing a room with an alpha. The Beta had promptly dismissed them as ridiculous. Stating that there was no way that someone of Glinda’s status would even think of touching Elphaba. Alpha or not. It had stung, like it always did. But she supposed it was also the truth, and that did ease her worries a little.
The alpha in question though had given her no cause to worry. When their relationship was still antagonistic, she had rudely told Elphaba that she shouldn’t flatter herself. That alpha or not, she wouldn’t lower herself like that. That an ‘artichoke’ like her had nothing to worry about.
Then as they grew closer, Glinda had approached the subject again in a gentler way. Asking if Elphaba really did feel comfortable sharing a room with her. Even offering to change rooms with someone if the green girl did feel uncomfortable. Glinda had even seemed worried about Elphaba’s answer. She remembered the blonde’s hands twisting her dress as she waited for the answer. An answer that would surprise even the green girl herself. At that point she was no longer concerned about the blonde being an alpha. She was not scared or intimidated. Quite the opposite in fact. She found it intriguing. Appealing.
That alongside her growing feelings made this situation more tempting than anything else. A fact proven when her legs carried her over to the blonde’s bed. “What … What are you doing? You really shouldn’t come near me.” The words were accompanied by the blonde moving further up the bed, as if trying to create distance between them. That action almost made Elphaba feel like she was a hunter. A feeling she quite enjoyed.
Ignoring her own responses to the blonde’s predicament, she tried to focus on the situation at hand. She knew all too well how painful an unexpected heat, or rut in Glinda’s case, could be. The anguish of being alone when it hit. Not being able to do anything but curl up in a ball and hope it would soon be over. Feeling disgusting on top of the awful pain. She wouldn’t wish it on anyone. Least of all someone who she had grown to care so much about.
Despite her better judgment the blonde had become important to her. That fact made her decision easier. She hated seeing the blonde in pain like that. She wanted to help. “If your suppressants have stopped working, then you won’t be able to handle it alone. No matter what you do. Not to mention the side-effects that might occur when going into a sudden rut alone.”
The blonde looked annoyed. “I know all about that, Elphie. I also paid attention in those classes. But... What can I do? I need to deal with this. There is no other option…” The annoyed look then became pained. But her hand kept moving underneath that pillow, a fact that Elphaba couldn’t help but focus on. She found herself rubbing her thighs together for some friction. The whole thing was driving her crazy.
So crazy that the words were out of her mouth before she even realized what she had said. “There is. I could help.” She was sure that the entire school was now awake with the shriek the blonde let out. But the seed had been planted. The more Elphaba thought about it, the more it made sense. She could help. Her experience with such matters was nonexistent beyond self-exploration which she barely indulged in. With another person though? That was something she had never done. But the blonde didn’t need to know that.
She explained her reasoning, but the blonde kept refusing. Which only made Elphaba more determined to help. The fact that the blonde was not treating her like a piece of meat despite the fact that her eyes kept moving over Elphaba’s body was reassuring.
Sitting down next to the blonde, Elphaba had dared reaching over to touch the blonde. Softly at first, just light tracing. Growing bolder when the blonde didn’t object. Soon she was gripping the alpha fully. She had no idea what she was doing, but from her scent and the sounds the blonde was making, she could tell that she was doing something right. The blonde was clearly worked up and wouldn’t last long. Her hips were moving, thrusting up into Elphaba’s hand. One of her hands was now caressing Elphaba’s bare thigh, making it harder for her to focus.
Glinda didn’t even seem aware what she was doing, she was so focused on what Elphaba’s hand was doing to her . Occasionally looking up at Elphaba with hooded eyes. The heat in those eyes made the green girl feel tingly all over. The hand on her bare thigh was so gentle. Light caresses that left goosebumps in its wake. It only took a few harder swipes and the blonde came undone. The sound she made striking Elphaba right between her legs. Her own arousal had now skyrocketed.
That in combination with how she felt about the blonde taking over. Before she knew it, she had made her next offer. “We’ve… already come this far. Might as well see it through.” She felt her face burning. Her lower region throbbed and she didn’t know what to do with her hands. She had stood up, moving away from the blonde to try to reclaim some semblance of control. But it was difficult.
Glinda had once again refused. Despite the fact that Elphaba had just made her come with a helping hand. The rejection should have hurt. It always did. But this one didn’t. From her scent Elphaba knew that Glinda wasn’t rejecting her because she was a freak or anything like that. She was trying to be protective . Trying to be careful. The alpha had even asked if her scent was affecting Elphaba somehow. Addressing the issue that could be causing this.
It probably was, but not for the reasons the blonde thought. She was enjoying the scent, and it probably factored into her decision. It was comforting in a way she didn’t expect an alpha to be able to project. Especially not one that was rutting. It made her feel oddly safe. From it alone she could tell that the blonde had no ill intentions. That alone was enough for her to tell Glinda that she was sure.
Later she would wonder what factor had driven her decision more. The alpha’s rut affecting her? Her affection for her friend? The feelings she didn’t dare name? Or, the sadder reason, opportunity? The chance to experience something that she had been told she never would? Everyone always treated her like a leper. Like she was less than everyone else. Something disgusting that should be hidden. She had been placed on birth control to make sure she didn’t bring home ‘any mistakes’ if an alpha had lowered themselves enough to take her. It was all she was worth. A body to be used and discarded by some alpha. She had been taught that her omega status was shameful. Yet another way she had shamed her family. So, she was put on birth control to avoid bringing further shame.
But Glinda wasn’t ‘some alpha’. She was something close to a friend. Someone that Elphaba cared a lot for. Her repeated attempts of offering her an out was reassuring. There was something warm in the blonde’s eyes as she looked at her that made Elphaba’s skin tingle. It almost made her believe that the blonde truly cared. Made Elphaba feel as if she was valued. Her scent was so inviting. Reassuring. The blonde kept offering Elphaba a chance to back down, but she refused. She wanted this experience. If only this one. More than that, she wanted the blonde. She wanted this experience with the blonde. She didn’t tell her that, of course, instead choosing to take the more logical approach and explaining her reasons as if she was debating in class.
The blonde soon gave in and before Elphaba knew it, they were on her bed. The blonde had ripped her undergarments off her body with the promise of getting her new ones. An action that turned her on more than she liked to admit. From there, talking had been replaced with heavy breathing. Elphaba had no idea what to expect, but she knew that she could never have imagined something like this. Not even in her wildest dreams. It felt good . She had been told that there would be pain, but there wasn’t any. She wasn’t sure why. Maybe she had a high pain tolerance? Maybe it was because she was so worked up?
Either way, she only felt a slight discomfort followed by a feeling of being filled. It felt good. So good. The blonde had looked at her with wonder once they were connected. As if she couldn’t believe it herself. It was more gentle than she was expecting from an alpha in a rut. At least at first. After taking a moment to seemingly enjoy the feeling of being inside, Glinda had begun moving. She soon found a rhythm that felt amazing. So amazing Elphaba found it hard to focus on anything else. She tried to be quiet, but found it difficult. Sounds escaping her with each motion. Sounds that would embarrass her in any other setting. Here with the delighted way the blonde was looking at her, she couldn't care less.
Not even thinking of what she was doing she pulled the blonde on top of her as she lost herself in the feeling. The feeling of the blonde panting against her neck only spurring her on. Glinda seemed to care about Elphaba’s pleasure almost as much as her own. Taking care to make it feel as good for her as possible. Hitting it at just the right angle to make her see stars. The blonde kept whispering praise in her ear that just made her even more excited.
She had found it difficult to think beyond the pleasure she was feeling. Beyond the girl who was making her feel this way. She had no idea that it could be like this. There was something in the blonde’s eyes, in her words she whispered in her ear, that made Elphaba come undone.
Once their breathing had settled, she looked at the alpha. Glinda looked just as blissful as Elphaba felt. Smiling, the blonde thanked her. Jokingly telling her that she had been right ‘as usual’. She even offered to return the favor should it be needed. Elphaba had ignored that comment. The blonde had then wrapped her arms around the green girl. Nosing at her neck which made her shiver. “This was really nice.” She had then snuggled into the green girl and fallen asleep.
Not long after that the blonde was snoring against her chest, their bodies still connected. Elphaba found herself staring at the ceiling. Absentmindedly running her fingers through the blonde’s hair as she whispered her approval out into the room. “It was amazing.”
It truly had been. The blonde had felt amazing against her. In her. The way she had been looking at her. How gentle she had been. The care she seemed to take to ensure that they were both enjoying what they were doing. Looking at Elphaba to gauge her reactions. She had seen a different side of the blonde that evening. A caring side. A gentle side. A side that she found that she really liked.
She knew her feelings would become even more complicated after what they had done, but she also knew that she had made the right decision. Had chosen the right person.
Even so it had been an awkward morning after. They had spoken about it. Sort of. Enough for them to ease into their normal routine. After that night Elphaba had dared hoping that they were friends. She knew better. She was too used to being rejected. But the hope wouldn’t leave her. It only grew stronger when Glinda didn’t treat her differently. If anything, the blonde treated her with even more kindness. Giving her a warm smile whenever she entered the dorm room. Even going so far as giving her a hug on numerous occasions. Linking their arms together when they walked anywhere. She also noticed that people were less obvious with their disgust whenever the blonde was around. She tried not to think about it.
She had even remembered to replace the undergarments she had ruined. Giving them to Elphaba with a slight smile and a nonchalant shrug. The green girl, meanwhile, had blushed so hard that she worried her face would melt off. If her feelings for the blonde were complicated before, they were beyond that now. It got so bad that Nessa had noticed. Telling her to reign it in. Teasing, or perhaps taunting, her about crushing on the most popular girl in school. “How utterly predictable. Even for you.”
She knew she needed to get herself under control. But it was hard with how the blonde was acting. And the fact that her brain didn’t let her forget that night. It had become a fond memory. But that’s all it would be, she was sure.
When her own heat struck unexpectedly, she didn’t dare ask for help.

There had been a delay with the shipment of suppressants. Elphaba quickly learned that the school didn’t exactly keep a lot of omega suppressants in stock. Probably because Betas were the norm nowadays, so the school probably didn’t see the need. Normally Elphaba would understand that. She was used to being an afterthought.
But she was suffering . It never got easier to deal with. She was so aroused that it was painful, and she didn’t dare wake the blonde to ask for her help. Despite the blonde’s offer. Elphaba just assumed that the offer was made out of courtesy. So, she was content to try to ride it out on her own. No matter how much pain she was in.
But then the blonde had woken up and Elphaba learned that the offer had been genuine. That she had been wrong in the best way. In the amazing way that meant being gloriously pressed against a warm body as her heat was dealt with. So amazing in fact that it scared Elphaba to death. Because she was realizing that this wasn’t enough. She didn’t want this to stop. She wanted more.
As her heat subsided and the blonde had shifted back, Elphaba was surprised when she didn’t move. Instead Glinda had pulled her closer. Cuddling as she played with her black hair. As amazing as dealing with her heat had been, Elphaba enjoyed the lazy caresses the blonde was giving her more. She fell asleep with the blonde’s arms around her, gently caressing. It made her feel like something precious. If only for a moment.
She wanted Glinda. In all the ways she could.

She didn’t expect it to continue, but it had.
One day the blonde’s scent had been driving her crazy enough for her to address it. She had been shocked, and secretly very pleased, to learn that Glinda was still feeling the effects of their previous couplings. The blonde had admitted to feeling sexually frustrated. A feeling that Elphaba was dealing with herself. Though she was clearly better at hiding it, she thought wryly.
She had accepted that she wanted more of the blonde. But she didn’t dare vocalize those thoughts. Still too scared of rejection. But with the blonde’s admission ringing in her ears, she took a chance. She was shocked when Glinda agreed.
From there they had entered an arrangement that was supposed to be about taking care of each other’s needs should they arise. Which they did. Often. Starting with that very afternoon where the blonde drove into her like she was possessed. Her weight comfortably on top of her as she made Elphaba come undone.
They kept going. Both of them seemed to look for excuses to do it at all times. It was wonderful, but Elphaba knew not to expect too much. Glinda seemed determined to prove her wrong though. She insisted on ‘returning the favor’. “We both agreed to this so we both should get something out of it.” She had said after Elphaba had taken care of her in a darkened corner in the classroom. Glinda had insisted on returning the favor. An insistence that ended with Glinda using her tongue to test how much Elphaba could take before she got too sensitive. Then Elphaba using her hand on the blonde during a study session in the library ended with Glinda using her fingers to drive Elphaba absolutely mad.
The blonde seemed to want to take care of Elphaba, and the green girl had no idea what to do with that information. How to even interpret it. Beyond the sex, there were plenty of things they now did together that somehow felt more intimate than before. A simple touch like the blonde grabbing her hand to show her something or lead her somewhere. Linking their arms together as they walked. Pulling her in for a hug just because she could. The way the blonde would smile at her sometimes. The way her voice sounded warmer whenever she addressed Elphaba. Speaking to her as if they were the only two people in the world. Like they shared some kind of secret. Which she supposed they did.
The blonde was becoming so important to her. Her stomach felt tingly each time she spotted Glinda, and she had to remind herself not to stare at the blonde. She thought about her constantly, even when she was nearby. Occupying her thoughts so much that she struggled to focus on her studies. She wanted to be around the blonde all the time. It was ridiculous. She often chastised herself for acting so stupid…
…only to fall right back into the blonde’s bed. She couldn’t resist. Anytime the blonde entered a room, she felt her body responding. She was constantly wet, her lower regions tingling. It was uncomfortable. In fact the only comfort she felt was whenever she noticed that the blonde had shifted. There was a telltale change in her scent, the way she moved or sat. Elphaba couldn’t help but felt flattered that she had such an effect on the blonde.
Logically she knew that it was because of alpha/omega dynamics. But she liked to pretend, at least a little bit, that it was because of her that the blonde responded that way. That it was because she wanted Elphaba . For her part, the young witch had begun to think of the blonde as hers. A foolish notion, but she couldn’t help it. She wanted the blonde to think the same of her. She wanted the alpha to claim her. But she never did, and Elphaba knew better than to voice that thought aloud. There were times where she could pretend that the blonde felt the same.
But the fact that she was ‘just a friend’ to the blonde in public made her chest hurt. She knew she should be happy about it. Her friendship with the blonde offered some protection. It had even led to her friendship with Fiyero in a way. But her traitorous heart kept wishing for more. She had her suspicions about what this feeling was, but she did not dare voice it. Nor acknowledge it to herself. Instead she told herself to just enjoy what was being offered for however long it would last.
The blonde was not making it easy. The way she acted when they were alone made her heart skip. Where the blonde had acted like she was something precious. Or something that excited her. That feeling only intensified when coupled with the fact that she also seemed excited about letting Elphaba take charge. Letting her set the pace. Though she suspected that this desire was equal parts selfish and selfless. She had noticed that one of Glinda’s favorite positions seemed to be with Elphaba on top. That revelation had come in the strangest way. Elphaba had been lying on her bed reading while Glinda was sitting in her makeup chair. Next thing she knew, she was bouncing on the blonde’s lap with Glinda panting and nipping at her neck. Holding her so close that she could barely move. They had been clothed still. Most of their trysts were.
That particular barrier would not be broken until one afternoon where Glinda’s annoyance at Fiyero had reached a boiling point. Her dislike of Elphaba’s growing friendship with the prince seemed born out of possessiveness. At first she thought Glinda was possessive of Fiyero. But her behaviour did not match that conclusion. Instead it appeared that the alpha’s possessiveness was aimed at Elphaba. A fact that had annoyed Elphaba greatly. Which led her to challenge the blonde.
That challenge had led to the blonde checking that she still wanted to continue with their arrangement before testing her patience with slow deliberate movements . It was the first time they had been fully naked. The first time they did anything without the barriers of clothing between them. It was also the first time Glinda told her she was beautiful. She appreciated the compliment despite knowing that it was a lie.
More and more the lines were blurring. Glinda had begun using a pet name each time they were together. Constantly telling her how much she enjoyed what they were doing while they were doing it. Whispering constant praise that sent Elphaba spiraling. She had no idea that simple praise could get her so worked up. They would also strip naked every time they were together now in their dorm room. Every inch of their bodies was now available to touch, caress and kiss. Glinda had also kissed her fully on the lips. It had caught her off guard at first before she had returned the kiss.
Kissing had then become a part of their arrangement. Some evenings they didn’t do anything except for lounging on the bed and kissing. That new intimacy did little to dampen her obsession. The blonde was all she could think about and it was driving her crazy.
She even dared to be happy. She should’ve known better. She should have known it would all change.
“Miss Elphaba, there you are!”
“Madame Morrible..”
