"The hell are you doing here?" she blurted.

Derek smirked. "Well, nice to see you too."

Andy’s eyes narrowed. "No, seriously. What are you doing here? You’re supposed to be… not here."

Derek chuckled. "I moved back. Thought I’d be the first to tell you, but judging by that look on your face, Meredith hasn’t mentioned it yet."

Andy’s stomach twisted. Was than that Meredith walked in. " Princesa what happened? Are you okay. Derek I think I can treat my fiancee. You can go now. "

Derek knew best than argue with Meredith so he left

Meredith stated to check on Andy's injury. " When you were going to tell me your ex-husband is back?"

Meredith looked up at Andy. " Babe I texted you I just found out myself. Just let me stichee you up than we can talk about it. "

Andy didn't say anything. She didn't know how to feel right now so she just stayed in silence while Meredith cleaned her cut. " I'm going to aplay some lidocaine than I going to stich you up. Did you hit your head?"

Andy nodded. " Yes but I feel fine. And the guys from 88 ran a concussion check. "

Meredith applied the lidocaine. " I'm paging Amelia for a neuro check just to be sure. "

Andy sighed, the reality of the situation still settling in. "I didn’t expect Derek to show up here today," she muttered, looking at Meredith.

"I didn’t expect it either," Meredith replied, her voice softer now, but still tinged with an edge. "You know how he is, Andy. He doesn’t do things by halves. When he decides to come back, he makes sure it’s… well, noticeable."

Andy winced as Meredith gently stitched the cut on her wrist, the sensation of the needle pulling through her skin adding to the tension she was feeling. She didn’t want to feel insecure, but a small part of her couldn’t help but wonder if Derek would somehow always have this way of trying to insert himself back into Meredith’s life.

As soon was Meredith was done treating Andy's cut she gently grabbed her chin. " Look at me Princesa. Derek is my past. You are my present and my future. Te amo mucho "

Andy couldn't help but smile. " Te amo mi ángel. I'm sorry I get insecure. "

Meredith kissed Andy. " You don't have to apolegize mi amor. Just let me paige Amelia so we are sure you are okay. "

Andy nodded, still feeling the weight of the situation but comforted by Meredith's words. She allowed her fiancée to reach for the phone, but before Meredith could dial, Amelia walked in.

“Everything alright in here?” Amelia’s voice was calm but sharp as her eyes landed on Andy.

“She’s fine,” Meredith replied, quickly glancing at Andy. “Just a cut, but I want you to double-check for a concussion.”

Amelia raised an eyebrow but didn’t argue. “Alright, let’s take a look.”

Andy sat up, trying to push down the nerves. “I’m fine, really. The guys from Aid Car 88 already ran a check. I don’t need any more poking.”

Amelia smirked, clearly amused. “I’m not poking, Lieutenant. Just a quick evaluation.”

Meredith stepped aside, giving her sister the space to work. Andy could feel the weight of both their eyes on her, but Amelia was quick and efficient. She did a few simple checks, asking Andy questions and having her follow simple commands. It wasn’t long before Amelia gave her a nod.

“You’re good. No signs of a concussion,” Amelia said, her expression softening. “ You are free to get back to work. "

Meredith took for her gloves. " Princesa let me drive you to the station. "

Back at the Station

Andy had just walked in when she her Sullivan yell at Maya over so chores. " Captain you don't need yell at people like that. This is not how we do thing here "

Sullivan crossed his arms. " Herrera this is not from your business. I'm the Capitain here"

Andy stood up between him and Maya. " I don't care if you are the Captain, the Fire Chief or the Pope you don't get to bully my team. "

Sullivan's jaw tightened, but Andy didn’t back down. Maya stood behind her, stiff and silent, her face carefully blank—but Andy knew her too well. She could see the subtle tremor in her fingers, the way her shoulders were locked like she was bracing for impact.

"This isn't bullying," Sullivan said coldly. "It's leadership. Bishop needs to pull her weight, just like everyone else."

Andy scoffed. "You're barking orders over chores? You’re humiliating her in front of the team for what, not mopping the floor fast enough?" She shook her head, eyes blazing. "This isn't the military, Captain. We don’t operate like that."

Sullivan took a step forward. "I don’t answer to you, Herrera."

Maya flinched at the sharpness in his tone. Andy immediately put a hand on her arm, grounding her.

"You do answer to the department, though," Andy shot back. "And the department has rules about how captains treat their firefighters. If you keep up at this rate I will report you to HR and the Union. "

Sullivan shook his had. " You couldn't have been the Captain if you haven't fucked up at the insinatator.  It's about you stop acting like I stole your job. We will talk about this later. " He said before walking out.

Andy didn't care about Sullivan. She knew Maya was on the edge. " Mai listen to me. You are safe. You are at the Station and I'm here. I'm going to keep you safe okay?"

Maya looked down to the ground. " I don't like when people yell. I dosen't feel safe. "

Andy grabbed Maya's hand. " I know. But no one can hurt when I'm around. "

Maya swallowed hard, nodding, but Andy could still see the tension in her jaw. Her breathing was shallow, her fingers twitching against Andy’s grip.

“Hey,” Andy said gently, tightening her hold just slightly. “Look at me.”

Maya hesitated before lifting her gaze. Her blue eyes were clouded, her mind clearly still stuck in whatever memory Sullivan’s yelling had triggered.

“You’re here, in the station,” Andy reminded her. “Not there. Not with him. I won’t let anyone treat you like that.”

Maya exhaled, a shaky breath escaping her lips. “I—I know. It just—”

“I know,” Andy said, her voice firm but soft. She squeezed Maya’s hand again before letting go, giving her space to breathe.

Maya took a deep breath. " Can we just seat for a while in my bunk?"

Andy nodded. " Of course. Whatever you need. "

Meanwhile at Grey-Sloan

Amelia ran into Derek at the corridor. " Derek Meredith is happy. Don't get in the away with that. "

Derek raised his hands. " I have no idea what you are talking about. "

Amelia smirked at him. " Come on Derek commenting on her good taste for women. "

Derek smirked back. " Well I have two working eyes and Andy she is very attractive. "

Amelia rolled her eyes. " Derek I know you. You tried to sleep with Teddy when she and Meredith were dating. "

Derek scoffed, crossing his arms. “That was years ago, Amelia. And for the record, I didn’t try—nothing happened.”

Amelia arched a brow. “Only because Teddy had enough sense to shut you down.”

Derek sighed, rubbing a hand over his face. “Look, I know I wasn’t the best husband. But I’ve changed. And before you start, no, I’m not trying to ruin Meredith’s happiness.”

Amelia studied him for a moment before nodding. “Good. Because she is happy, Derek. And if you do anything to mess with that—”

Derek held up a hand. “I won’t. I swear.”

Amelia narrowed her eyes, then finally seemed satisfied. “Good.”

Was than that they heard the hospital sound system." Cold black. Bomb treat on the Women's clinic"

Amelia felt her heart skeaped a beat. " Derek Carina is there! "

Derek looked around. " Amelia the day care is a floor below the clinic. "

Amelia eyes winded. " You are right I need to get my son. "

Amelia ran towards the day care with Derek on her heels.

Meanwhile at the clinic.

Carina woke up feeling dizzy. She had been thrown around the room by the explosion. She turned around to see her patient on the floor unconscious. She ran towards the woman.

Carina pressed two fingers to the woman’s neck, searching for a pulse. It was faint but present. Relief flooded her, but there was no time to waste. The air was thick with smoke, and the clinic’s emergency alarms blared. Carina’s ears were still ringing from the explosion, but she forced herself to focus.

She quickly checked the woman’s airway, then turned her onto her side in the recovery position. Looking around, Carina saw other patients and staff scattered, some injured, some dazed. The ceiling had partially caved in, and she could hear the distant sound of sirens.

Carina reached for the nearest nurse, who was clutching her arm in pain. "We need to get people out. Can you walk?"

The nurse nodded weakly. "I think so."

"Good. Help me check for others. We need to move before the structure gets worse."

Just as Carina started to stand, a sharp pain shot through her ribs. She winced, realizing she had likely bruised or cracked them in the blast. But she pushed past the pain—there were too many people who needed help.

Meanwhile, outside the clinic, firefighters were already arriving, led by Andy Herrera Sullivan had left for a meeting on city Hall. Dressed in full gear, she took one look at the chaotic scene and barked orders. "Dixon , get a triage area set up. Gibson you are on fire attack. I need three hoses inside and sparklers running. Bishop search and rescue. Larson Cutler set horizontal vent. Now. Hoses on as soon as we have vent. Let's move. "

Andy pressed her radio. " Dispatch this is 19 I'm calling a three alarm fire at Grey-Sloan Memorial Hospital. Code Orange to Seatle Press we may have multiple casuallites. I need all Aid Cars you can give me. Air rescue and Airdrop. The fire is close to the hospital daycare muitple small children and babies in distress. "

Meanwhile at the daycare

When Amelia reached the daycare multiple colegues were desperated trying to get their kids out. " I need a radio! Amelia yelled. The leading nurse gave her one. " Fire Department this is Dr. Shepard we have multiple babes and toddlers. To much smoke their lungs can't take it. "

Andy quickly replied back. " We are breaching trough the north wall to get all of you out. Just stay way from the wall and take cover. "

Amelia crouched down, shielding her crying five months bold son against her chest as the hot incrised. Around her, nurses tried to soothe crying children, their faces tight with fear. The daycare, meant to be a safe haven, now felt like a death trap.

The sound of the radio crackled again. "Shepherd, we’re coming in. Five minutes. Keep everyone low to the ground."

Amelia tightened her grip on the radio. "Hurry," she whispered."

Back at the clinic.

Maya walked through the clinic with Vasquez on her side and Vic puls Warren right in front of them with a hose.

Vic call trough the radio. " Cap we have vent?"

The answer came quicky. " Working on in. 88 is coming in with extra air. Keep moving. "

The visibly was near zero Maya had to find Carina. " Seattle Fire call out!"

Soon they heard a voice. "Maya we are in here "

Maya felt the relief to hear her girlfriend's voice.

Maya ran towards her girlfriend. " Cap we have multiple victms. We need water now. "

There was a moment before the response came. " Vent is on we are sending water on full pressure. "

Vic turned her hose on. And Maya stated spreking. " We are getting you out of here. Vasquez put a collar on the unresponsive patient and let's move the rest of you hold on the whose. Carina do you have a board here. "

Carina nodded. " Near that wall. "

Maya grabbed the board and moved the patient as Warren and Vic fought the flames.

Back at the daycare

A piece of the ceiling collapsed hitting Derek on the hear smoke stated to come from the roof. Amelia was about to scream when the north wall started to go down. Soon Andy was inside with a few firefigter's from 54. " Everyone let's move. Behind him. Amelia you okay?"

Amelia shook her head. " Derek is out a price of calling hit his head.

Andy picked him on her arms as Amelia moves out the building with Scott.

Outside Meredith was pacing was she waited for her sister and nephew to be rescued. She let out a breath of relief as she Saw Amelia carrying Scoot. She ran to them. " Amy let me check on him. Have you seen Lexie?"

Was than that Meredith saw her fieancee put Derek on a gurney. "Andy Lexie I haven't seen her -" Meredith said as she checked o. Her nephew. "

Andy put her hand on Meredith's arm. " She is in triage helping with patients she is okay. "

Meredith nodded. " Amy Scoot os going to be okay but he needs some oxigen let's take him to triage. "

Amelia nodded. Was than that Maya walked out the building Carina right bisides her. " Bishop take Carina to triage. Maddox take over for her with the patient ."

Later at Seatle Press

Maya was seating next to Carina's bed. " I'm so glad you are okay. I was really scared. "

Carina squeezed Maya's hand. " I was to buy you saved me bambina. "

Was than that Meredith and Andy walked in. " Hi Carina how are you feeling?"

Carina looked up at them. " Just lucky to be alive. How are Amelia and Scoot?"

Andy took of her turn out jacket. " They are okay. He will be relised in a couple of ours. Lexie went to pick up the kids to see Derek he got a nasty concussion. "

Meredith took a deep breath. " I can't believe those people blew a bomb on a hospital. Andy they say their are pro-life. "

Andy sighed, rubbing a hand over her face. "Yeah, well, their definition of ‘pro-life’ clearly doesn’t include the actual lives they just put at risk. Pregnant women, babies, patients on ventilators—none of that mattered to them."

Maya clenched her jaw. "Cowards. They attack a hospital full of vulnerable people and then run away. It’s disgusting."

Carina reached for Maya’s hand again, her grip weaker than usual. "There were so many injured. We had just finished an ultrasound when the blast hit. I barely had time to react before everything was shaking. "

Meredith crossed her arms, glancing at Andy. "They said there were two explosions, one in the clinic and one near daycare. It could’ve been so much worse."

Andy nodded grimly. "It was coordinated. They wanted chaos, and they got it." She exhaled sharply. "Seattle PD is already looking into it. Sullivan is on his way back from City Hall, and Dixon has been in contact with the mayor. But right now, I just want to make sure everyone we pulled out is okay. Bishop Sullivan gave you the rest of the day off but I need to get back to the Station. "

After shift.

Andy got home to be greated with hugs from the kids. She pick Ellis in her arms. " Mami dad said you saved him!"

Andy kissed Ellis cheek. " Well I was just doing my job. What about some tres leches for breakfast?"

Meredith smiled at her. " Babe you spoil all of us to much. "

Andy smiled back at her. " I have to take good care of my family."

Ellis clapped her little hands. "Tres leches!" she cheered, snuggling into Andy’s arms like she never wanted to let go. Andy held her tightly, her heart aching with love and relief that they were all safe.

Zola peeked her head around the corner, holding a book. "Can we read after breakfast?" she asked, her voice soft.

Andy nodded immediately. "Of course, Zo. Anything you want."

After breakfast Andy seat on the couch to read for the kids Meredith just smiled at the scene. Andy was making different voices for everything charter and the kids were having the time of their lifes.

As the story progressed, the warmth in the room felt like a comforting shield against the chaos that had unfolded earlier in the day. Andy’s laughter echoed as she made the animals in the book come alive with exaggerated voices, and Zola giggled every time Andy did something funny. Ellis, still nestled in her arms, was completely content. The sounds of their happiness were a stark contrast to the memories of the explosion, the fear, and the lives that had been at risk just hours ago.

Meredith sat next to them, watching Andy and the kids, her eyes soft and full of gratitude. Her hand rested on Andy’s leg, offering silent support. After everything they had been through, Meredith found peace in moments like these. They were safe, together, and that’s all that mattered.

Later

Meredith was cuddling on the couch with Andy and the kids. " Princesa I know you are tired. Go take a nap. I will order dinner and wake you up when it's here. You had rough shift. "

Andy smiled at Meredith. " I'm really wiped. But I want extra cuddles later. "

Meredith kicked her fiancee. " We have a deal. I will order your favorite and extra dessert. "

Andy gave Meredith and the kids extra hugs before going to bed.

Meanwhile at Maya's apartment

Maya carried her girlfriend to bed. " You know I can walk bambina ."

Maya kissed her girlfriend. " I do but let me take care of you. "

Carina leaned into Maya’s arms, her body still aching from the blast but grateful to be home. "You always take care of me," she whispered, closing her eyes as Maya gently helped her into bed.

Maya kissed her forehead, brushing a stray lock of hair from Carina's face. "Always," she replied softly. "You’re my world, Carina. "

Carina smiled faintly, her heart swelling with affection. "I love you," she murmured.

Maya’s smile widened, though her eyes held a mix of worry and tenderness. "I love you too, babe. So much."

As Carina settled into the bed, Maya grabbed a warm blanket from the closet and draped it over her, making sure she was comfortable. She sat beside her for a moment, gently massaging her shoulders and easing some of the tension out of her muscles. Carina let out a small sigh of relief, appreciating the gesture.

"I just need to rest," Carina said, her voice softer now, still shaken from the explosion but beginning to feel the comfort of being with Maya.

"Get some sleep," Maya encouraged. "I’m right here."

Carina nodded, her eyelids growing heavier. "Thank you," she whispered before drifting off to sleep.

At the next day.

Andy woke up and tired to get out of bed but Meredith didn't let her. " Mer I need to get up. I have to take Maya to her parents house. "

Meredith kissed Andy's shoulder. " Okay but Lexie os taking the kids later so after you get back you have to let me take care of you the whole day. No cleaning or cooking or anything other than letting me love you. "

Andy smiled at Meredith's words, the exhaustion from the past few days still weighing on her, but the thought of being taken care of by Meredith made her heart swell. "That sounds like a plan," she said softly, snuggling back into the warmth of Meredith’s embrace.

Meredith kissed the top of Andy’s head, her hand gently rubbing Andy's back. "Good. You deserve it." Her voice was tender, a reflection of her deep love and the care she felt for Andy, especially after everything that had happened.

Andy took a deep breath, feeling safe in Meredith’s arms. "Okay, I will handle Lane , and then I’ll be all yours for the rest of the day."

Meredith nodded, her fingers running through Andy’s hair. "And no arguing, just let me spoil you."

When Andy finally got out of bed, the morning light streamed through the windows, casting a peaceful glow over their apartment. Meredith watched her with a soft smile, a reminder of how much they’d both been through and how far they’d come.

Meanwhile at Maya's and Carina's apartment

Carina woke up to see Maya carrying a tray with breakfast. " Morning bambina. And thank you. "

Maya smiled at her girlfriend. " You are welcome my love. Andrew will be here soon. And don't worry about me. Andy will be with me. I love you. "

Maya put the tray on Carina's leg's and kissed her. " I will be back in a few our. I love you. "

Carina kissed Maya back. " I love you too. "

Was than that the bell rung. " That must be your brother. Andy is waiting in her car so I really have to go. "

Carina smiled at her girlfriend. " I will be okay bambina. Just hr careful. "

At Lane's home.

Maya and Andy walked in to find a very angry Lane. He crossed his arms. " Late as always. I didn't raise to be like that. "

Maya sook her head. " I'm glad a I'm not the person you raised me to be. Andy can you make my mom's breakfast while I change her bandages?"

Andy nodded. " Of course. "

As Maya walked upstairs Andy stated cooking.

Lane keep looking at her with disgust. " You are the one that ruined Maya's life convincing her to be a smoke eater. "

Andy didn't talk her eyes of the stove. " I helped Maya you were the one who almost ruined her with your abuse. "

Lane smirked at Andy. " You wanted to sleep with her didn't you. "

Andy let out a disgusted look. " No. Maya is like a sister to me. But I get it why is so hard to understand you are incapable of loving anyone but yourself. "

Lane clenched his jaw. " Love is a distraction and a waist of time. I made Maya a Olimpic Champion. "

Andy turned around to face him. " At a prize she never choose to pay. That was not worth it. You just wanted your daughter to get for you what you never could cause you weren't good enough. You are nothing but a loser. "

Lane launched and Andy but she grabbed his arm and threw him at the ground. " You are pathetic. Don't stand a chance against someone who actually fights you back. "

Lane just stayed there in the ground as Andy resume to cooking.

At Katherine's room.

Maya was changing her mother's bandages. " Mom why don't you just kick him out ? This house is what granpa left for you and you have your retirement. You don't need him. You never did you just choose to stay than and you are choosing to stay now. "

Katherine didn't say anything so Maya kept talking. " Andy has been trough hell and she is here instead of with her family because if I'm alone with Lane hi will probably going to beat me. Having to be here suffocates me. So why are you putting me trough that again?!"

Katherine's eyes welled up with tears, but she remained silent, avoiding Maya's gaze. Maya could feel the tension thickening in the air, the frustration and sadness she had carried for so long bubbling to the surface. She set the bandages down on the side table, her voice shaking with emotion.

"Mom, please," Maya's voice cracked. "You’re not doing anyone any favors by letting him stay. You’ve spent your whole life catering to him. And for what? He’s destroyed me, and he’s destroyed you too."

She took a deep breath, trying to steady herself. "I’m begging you. I can’t keep living like this. I can’t keep pretending everything’s okay when it’s not. I need you to stand up for me, for us, for this family. You deserve better."

Maya stood there, looking at her mother, her heart aching with the weight of everything she had endured over the years. The silence hung between them, heavy and suffocating, but finally, Katherine spoke, her voice barely above a whisper.

"I don't know how to be without him," Katherine murmured, her hands trembling as she held the edges of her blanket. "I’ve spent so many years with him. I’m scared, Maya. Scared of being alone."

Maya sallowed hard trying to find the right words.

" Everytime someone yells at me I'm scared they will beat me. Took me years to stop being scared of having a normal meal. I can't keep doing this mom. I'm sorry but I can't. I spent enough time doing that. More than I ever should've. If he is going to stay you will have to figure your situation out. "

Was than that Andy walked. " Mrs. Bishop here is your breakfast. I'm taking Maya home. "

As they walked downstairs Lane was furious. " Leaving already?"

Maya nodded. " Yes. Do you remember Ryan right? The one who is a cop now he will be here for a welfare check. So you better behave. "

As they walked out the house Maya's body was trembling. Andy grabbed Maya's arm. " Mai he is not going to hurt her. He is scared of Ryan. We will figure something out. Now let's get you home. "
