Death and Title
"I'm fated to die. I have always been, since my conception."
Theo shakes his head in denial, refusing to believe her words that have been said hundreds of times before. "I refuse to believe that."
"You refuse to accept it. I understand, I do. I've had all my life to accept my death but you've only had a couple of years since I first told you." Marina has a tear stream down the side of her cheek before it's wiped away by Theo's thumb.
Theo holds her face in his hands like she's made of glass, she holds onto his hands that hold her with fragility. He scans over her face seeing the acceptance in her eyes but the shake of her hands gives away her true feeling on her thought of her own death.
His eyes get glassy as well, "Try to fight it, please. For me. For the future that we made plans for." She nods as her tears stream, each wiped away by Theo's thumbs.
They pull each other close and share a desperate, teary kiss for the future that they hope to happen.
Theo squeezes her close as he pulls his face away slightly, her lips trying to follow his before she opens her eyes, staring into his eyes. He scans over her features that he loves so much, desperately wishing to see her features in the old woman by side when they are both old and fulfilled in life.
"I love you, Marina Ivy Potter. I want to marry you someday. I want to grow old beside you." Theo tells her, watching her with soft love-filled eyes.
"I love you too Theodore Elias Nott. I also want a life with you but we can only hope that it does happen." Marina tells him, watching him with soft but sad eyes full of longing.
Before they can say anything else, "Kelphead! Where are you at?!" Thalia's voice is heard shouting for Marina. The couple separates from each other and fix themselves up, by the time Thalia comes around the corner, Marina and Theo are looking in her direction. Theo is blank faced and Marina has a subtle smile on her face as she watches Thalia approach them.
"Can I help you Pinecone face?" Marina questions her cousin, Theo's face still appears blank to everyone else but Marina can see his confusion regarding the nickname for Thalia.
"Everyone wants to start watching again, we are just waiting on you two."
"Alright, Let's get to it." Marina grabs Theo's hand and pulls him over to her cousin as they start walking back to the dining hall. "How's the hunt been?" Marina talks with Thalia as they all walk.
[It's a while later, Sally and Marina are now back at home, in Marina's room as Sally packs up Marina school stuff so when it's time to go, they can just grab it and go. Everything is silent except for the sound of them packing and the sound of Gabe watching TV from the living room.]
"Marina, Are you alright? You're very quiet right now." Sally stops packing away the school stuff to look at her niece.
Marina also stops putting away her school supplies, "The man who gave me this scar, he killed my parents. Didn't he?"
The room is extremely silent, while James and Lily are comforted by their loved ones and Marina is wrapped in her boyfriend's arms. Poseidon sits beside his brother's upset, feeling his own grief over their death alongside Marina's grief from the film.
Sally sighs as she moves the case away to sit next to Marina, "Yes, he did." Sally pushes Marina's hair away from her face, "Like No-Majs, Not all wizards are good. Some are bad. Before your parents..." Sally tears up before changing her words, "Before you got your scar, there was a wizard who went extremely bad. As bad as you can go. And his name was V-..."
[Sally hesitates on the man's name, as fear is apparent in her body language. Marina has never seen her aunt scared, except around Gabe.]
"What do you mean?!" Their loved ones question, while trying to control their anger at what that sentence could mean.
Sally looks shocked, not knowing that Marina has noticed and picked up on that before. But if she had to think about it, it would make sense since she's the same way and picks up on Marina's own body language.
Marina cuts everyone off, not wanting to linger on this part, "Let's continue. You will most likely figure out what I mean later on." The screen continues before anyone else can try to push.
Sally steels herself, "His name was V-Voldemort."
Majority of the hall flinch at the name, the only ones who don't are the Greeks, Rachel, Marina, and Dumbledore. The Greeks and Rachel because they don't know much about the business of the wizarding world except Hecate but she doesn't fear a mortal man whose power she can take if she wishes, while Marina and Dumbledore aren't afraid of the man's name.
The Greeks and Rachel are surprised at the reaction to just a name as they know this evil mortal man doesn't have the ability to gain awareness from their name like the immortals can. Marina has been explaining more about the Greek world to Rachel and has issued Annabeth's warning on the use of names that Marina can't always be bothered to use.
"Voldemort?" Marina questions the weird name. Sally flinches at the sound of the name, having heard too many horror stories from those she knows but also from the wizarding news reporting on what's happened in the UK during that time.
The hall flinches once more.
"That was a dark time in our lives, Your parents and their friends came to visit to escape the war for a while, where they met your pops." Marina smiles at the thought of how her parents met her pops.
Those who were there have bittersweet smiles, remembering that day which is a reminder of the friends that they lost. James and Lily give Poseidon a smile at the mention of the meeting between the three of them, gaining a smile back from the god.
The screen changes to a flashback to that fateful night at Godric's hollow. A cloaked man is seen walking towards a house, breaking in as he unlocks the door with his wand, and terrorizes the people inside. Sally continues talking over the flashback, "Voldemort gathered followers, and brought them over to the dark side. Anyone that tried to stand against him was killed. Your parents fought against him, but once he decided to kill them, it's never long after that it's fulfilled."
The flashback continues. Marina's mother, Lily, is shown screaming in pain as she is killed by Voldemort's wand. The screen shows the outside of the house where green flashes are seen shining from the windows.
The hall flinches at the sudden sight and sound of Lily dying scream. Lily, James, Marina, Sirius, Remus, Sally, and Poseidon look sick at the murder of Lily.
Marina takes a deep breath to relax, to push back her feelings of panic, terror, grief, and pain as her mothers scream comes back to haunt her once more but this time in her waking moments. Theo holds Marina's hand, rubbing the back of it with his hand to sooth her and holds her against his side, comforting him.
James, Lily, Sirius, Remus, and Sally all comfort each other, especially Lily who's trying to get the sight of her own death out of her head.
Poseidon is slightly comforted by his brothers at his sides, it's a little awkward for all of them as they aren't very close but it is appreciated.
It changes once more to show Voldemort pointing his wand at an infant Marina, looking up at the man and screen with wide and innocent mismatched green eyes. "You're the only one to live."
Except Apollo and Hecate, the Greeks and Rachel are shocked, that's why she's so famous. Because she lived?! Then again Marina is known for surviving things that she probably shouldn't likely survive.
"You are very cute as a baby." Theo tells his girlfriend which distracts everyone, Marina blushes at his words. While people actually look at baby Marina as they agree that he is right and Marina is a very cute baby and some of the parents and younger kids coo at the baby version of her which only makes her even more embarrassed.
The screen changes back to the present time where Marina is shocked and confused, "He tried to kill me?" She wonders how she's the only one to live while also shocked that someone tried to kill her as a baby.
"He tried but it obviously didn't work but yes. Your scar only comes from being touched by a powerful and dark curse." Sally tells Marina as the girl touches the edges of her scar.
Sally watches Marina as the girl thinks. "What happened to this evil wizard guy?" Marina questions, while wondering why he's never been brought up before the letter came and she learned about the magic world if this guy tried to kill her before.
The ones not from the wizarding world agree and wonder why she didn't know about this lunatic who tried to kill her as a baby. They wonder if it's the same as their world where mere awareness draws things to them like it is in the Greek world.
They also wonder what happened to this lunatic, Lily and James are wondering the same as they don't know very much about what happened after their deaths, they were only given certain information.
Sally sighs before explaining, "Majority say he died but I don't completely believe that. Evil like him tends to come back when you least expect it. But something happened that night in which you got rid of him for a while. It's why you're famous. You're known as the girl who lived."
The Greeks know about evil coming back as they are now dealing with Kronos coming back. (More like the demigods are dealing with Kronos coming back.)
The Greeks and Rachel are surprised that's why she's famous in the wizarding world. As are Lily and James. None of them would guess that she's famous for being alive, then again she's known in the Greek world for being a forbidden child and is the current prophecy child.
[Marina feels a sudden pressure of weight on her shoulders that she never wanted, not knowing this is only the beginning of her fated path as the chosen one. The one to lead. The one to fight. Till her dying breath as a mortal.]
