Family Money and Destruction
[Marina and Sally continue walking down Diagon Alley.]
"Where are we going first?" Marina looks to her aunt for guidance.
"We need to get you some money for your supplies." She points to a tall, white, marble building, Gringotts Bank. "That's Gringotts, It's a wizarding bank."
[Inside the bank, they walk down the shiny aisle, passing tiny creatures working at their desks.]
Those not from the wizarding world wonder what the creatures are. "What are those?" Athena questions curiosity about the tiny creatures. Poseidon feels Marina's own curiosity through the screen.
"That's about to be answered." Marina tells the goddess and the others who are curious.
"Woah, what exactly are these things, Aunt Sally?" Marina questions, looking at the creatures.
"These are goblins. They manage everyone's money. Stay close, I don't want you to get lost." Sally tells niece who listens, sticking close to her. Sally taps the bell on the counter, gaining the attention of the goblin behind the counter. "Ms. Marina Potter wishes to make a withdrawal."
"And does Ms. Marina Potter have her key?" The goblin questions the woman.
Sally pulls Marina's key out of her purse, "She does, I have it here."
[Later, they race down the depth caverns in a cartlike structure. The cart stops, and a goblin clambers out.]
"That seems like fun, I want to ride it." Hermes states while watching the cart zoom around. The other gods eye the man as they all come to the agreement to prevent that from happening.
"Vault 687. Lamp, please." Sally hands him the lamp, and he walks to the vault. Marina is watching intensely, curious about what's happening. "Key, please." The goblin asks, standing in front of the vault.
[Sally hands him the key, and the goblin unlocks the vault. The room is filled nearly top to bottom with coins. Marina is shocked.]
People sit in shock at the amount of money in her vault. The only ones who aren't shocked are the gods, the other pureblood families, and those who knew about the family wealth.
The gods aren't surprised because she's a princess of Poseidon's kingdom, so even if she wasn't wealthy in mortal money, then Poseidon would gladly give her money from the godly world. However, Hades does nod in approval of her wealth, and Poseidon tries to hide the shock that he feels coming from a young Marina.
The other pureblood families aren't very surprised because while the Potter's aren't one of the sacred twenty-eight, they are still considered a pureblood family and have amassed a lot of money over the centuries.
Those who knew the family have known about the wealth, especially considering the cost of some of the presents that they have given. Wizarding money has never been a problem for the family.
"There is so much!" Marina exclaims in shock about the amount of money in her vault.
Sally chuckles, "This is only the trust vault. Once you reach age, you'll have access to the full Potter vault."
"Do you have a vault, too?" Marina questions her aunt, knowing that she's also of the Potter bloodline.
Sally fills a pouch with money as they talk, "I do. Mine is in America, though. You'll have more in your vault due to Uncle Fleamont, your grandfather, being the head of our family. He was the first born while my mother was the second born. Your father, James, became the lord after Fleamont's death. So, the next to inherit the lordship would be you."
James and Sirius look upset at the mention of their dad, who they lost to sickness.
"Have you claimed your Lordship yet, or are you planning to claim it later?" Lily questions her daughter.
Her questions make people look at the girl, curious if there is a new lady among them.
Marina, who is still sitting in the tub, her pops summoned for her, contemplates how to answer her mothers question without worrying anyone. "I plan to later, once everything calms down and I'm settled."
Those who know of the life of a demigod or those who know of a prophecy surrounding the girl know the true meaning behind her words. She will accept the title if she survives. However, those who don't know just accept her words of waiting.
Theo tries to catch his girlfriend's eyes, but she is pointedly avoiding him, knowing that he would be able to get the truth out of her. Him, Blaise, Hermione, and Ron look towards Marina's Greek friends to see them also avoiding looking at them, which worries them all for their friends and lover.
[Marina thinks about her words, not wanting the responsibility of their family, especially at her age. What Marina doesn't know is that she will be forced to take on responsibilities, even if she never wanted them.]
Marina sinks into the tub, hugging herself while hiding from view, at those words that voice her flaws.
The Greeks and Marina's friends know the truth behind those words. Her parents, Sirius, Remus, and the wizarding world, besides a white bearded old man, are wondering and worried about the responsibilities that a child would be forced to take on.
[Outside back in Diagon Alley, Marina and Sally are walking through the street. Marina has bought most of her equipment, and Sally is reading Marina's list.]
"The last thing on the list is a wand. Ollivander's should be around here according to what I remember of being here with your father." Sally tells Marina, who looks around at the many shops.
[Sally finally spots the shop and gently guides Marina to it. They quietly go into the store, and Marina looks around. There are shelves of wands in boxes. Inside there are two young boys, the same age as Marina. The bell rings once they come in, catching the attention of the two boys which makes them look over, Marina catches blue eyes when she looks at the boy with dark wavy hair, as they walk in. The boys look back towards the front.]
"We look great, man." Blaise says to Theo, who is looking at their younger selves. Poseidon frowns, feeling the interest that the Marina on screen feels when she catches eyes with the younger version of her current boyfriend.
"Where is the old man?" The boy with blue eyes says while the other boy with brown skin rings the bell.
[Marina and Sally stop a few feet away from the boys, Marina admires the blue-eyed boys' profile. Sally sees her niece almost blatantly staring and just shakes her head at her obviousness. The boy's face turns towards their direction, feeling eyes on him, only for his eyes to catch the beautiful mismatched green eyes of the girl. She gives a pretty smile at him, which makes his lips lightly turn up at the edges.]
People laugh at the girl's obvious staring. Aphrodite coos at the start of their love story and first meeting while Poseidon sports a pout a few seats away from her, trying to bat away Marina crush that is forming because of the boy on screen. Which makes his brothers laugh at him.
"She clearly takes after you, Prongs, with the pining at first glance." Sirius jokes about James chasing after Lily with just one glance during their first year.
"You're not much better with Moony." James states to his brother. Sirius gets fake offended before the two start to make jokes at each other's expense while Remus, Lily, and Sally shake their heads at the two. However, smiles can be seen on their faces, obviously having missed this.
Everyone watches on as the two joke about each other, while Marina catches Theo's eyes and he gives her a cheeky wink which makes a smile light up her face, which in turn makes his eyes soften at the sight of her.
The screen starts up again, cutting off their jokes and gaining everyone's attention once again.
[Then, a noise came from the back, which gains everyone's attention, and a man appears on a ladder and looks at the three children. The man is Ollivander, and he smiles at the three.]
"Welcome, Mr. Zabini, Mr. Nott, and Ms. Potter." Ollivander greets the three children. At the name of the girl, the two boys straighten up even more, looking over the girl who they can't believe is the girl who lived but they catch a glimpse of her lightning bolt scar as her hair moves when she nods towards the man, proving that she is who the man claims.
Seeing the boys scanning her makes her uncomfortable as they are now watching her like a hawk. Ollivander clears his throat, gaining the boy's attention once again. "Let's start with you, Mr. Zabini."
[After a few tries and light destruction, the boy finally got his wand. Mr. Nott went after him. Again, after a little while, he also got his wand. However, he caused quite a bit of destruction to the shop that Ollivander had to fix himself. Both boys stood off to the side to watch Marina get her wand, curious about what she would get.]
Blaise agrees that Theo did create quite a bit of destruction, which he seemed to uphold as he can become destructive and bloody when he fights someone, especially if that person is messing with Marina. Merlin better make sure that Theo doesn't overhear people bad mouth Marina in front of him or they will end up in the hospital wing.
Poseidon smiles, feeling the excitement and nervousness of the young Marina on screen.
"Ms. Potter, I wondered when I'd be seeing you. It seems only yesterday that your mother and father were here buying their first wands." Marina perks up at the mention of her parents while Sally sports a sad smile at the mention, Theo and Blaise share a look at the mention of the former Lord and Lady of the Potter House.
James and Lily get sad at the mention of them and reminder of their deaths, while their friends and loved ones comfort them. Poseidon throws a glance towards the couple at the reminder of their death, hiding the curiosity that young Marina feels on screen at the mention of her parents.
Marina gets up and sits with her mortal parents, while people are shocked by her dry clothes as soon as she leaves the water. Poseidon makes the tub disappear for now. He can always just summon one back for her if she wants.
Ollivander picks a wand, "Ah. Here we are. Well, give it a wave." Marina waves the wand. This causes harsh wind to sweep through the shop and makes the large shelves of boxes come crashing down. The wind almost blows everyone over. Sally is quick to take the wand from her niece. Blaise and Theo share a look at the power of her magic while Sally looks nervous at the familiar abilities of her godly father.
Everyone, except those there, is shocked by her magic and power she accidentally displayed. While the gods notice, she summoned a mini storm in the shop, knocking over everything. Poseidon is proud of Marina's abilities while also shock comes from the screen.
"Apparently not. Perhaps this." Ollivander gets another wand from a box. Marina waves at a vase, which shatters, including all the windows of the shop, as the ground gives a little rumble, startling everyone.
Poseidon jumps a little, from the startle of his daughter, which makes the other gods glance at the man.
The Weasley twins joke, "Marina, what did the shop do to you to cause such destruction?" Marina just shakes her head at the two while chuckling.
The gods start sharing looks at the magic and abilities that she's accidentally showing.
[Sally sighs at the familiar abilities, knowing that Marina is extremely powerful for her godly abilities to be showing in Hecates' domain without her even trying.]
Everyone shares looks at the words. They knew she was powerful, but to show a glimpse of her actual power is making people start to fear what she can actually do.
The gods knew that children of the big three were powerful, but the amount of power that Marina was showing accidentally at such a age is concerning. They will have to keep a close eye on the girl, especially with the prophecy coming up and close to fruition.
"No, no, definitely not! No matter." Ollivander goes to get another wand before becoming thoughtful, "I wonder..." Ollivander changes course and gets a black box with blue swirls on it.
[Marina perks up at the box, feeling something from the box. It's almost like she knows that this is her wand. Ollivander hands the wand to Marina. No sooner after she touched it, Marina suddenly glows under it, blowing her hair up and several of the paperwork in the background. The light smell of the ocean fills the air as her eyes flash green and gold. Ollivander looked a bit surprised and deep in thought.]
People pay close attention when Marina mentions that she can feel that that is her wand. They are shocked by the sign of old magic and the flashing of her eyes.
However, Poseidon smiles when the smell of the ocean wafts through the room and the light feeling of home that Marina gets from it.
"Curious. Very curious." Ollivander states while Blaise and Theo just stare in shock at the power of Marina displayed in front of them while Sally is nervous for Marina.
"What is curious?" Sally questions, she tries to hide her nervousness, but clearly she's failing as Marina looks worriedly at her aunt.
Poseidon glances at the woman on screen, with the worry that Marina is feeling even if he knows exactly what she's worried about. The nervousness that he too feels regarding his daughter.
Ollivander examines the wand he gave to Marina, "I remember every wand I've ever sold, Ms. Potter. This wand has been here a long time. The core is phoenix tail and a type of seagrass that contains magical qualities. This is the only wand that I have made that contains that seagrass. The phoenix, whose tail feather resides in your wand, gave another feather, just one other. It is curious that you should be destined for this wand when its brother gave you that scar." The man points to the lighting bolt scar on Marina's forehead.
Everyone sits in shocked silence for a moment. The wizarding world is shocked that she shares part of a wand core with He-Who-Shall-Not-Be-Named and the Greeks because they finally learned where she got her scar from. Poseidon holds back Marina's nervous curiosity that is coming from the younger version of his daughter.
"Excuse me?!" Lily shouts, wondering what the hell happened to their daughter. Her and James were only told that they were murdered in the war because Peter was a traitor, but they were never told that their daughter gained her scar from it. She thought that her spell completely protected her, but she ought to know that old magic like that is very tricky.
"Don't worry about it, mom. You'll find out soon. Promise." Lily calms down at the sight of her daughter sitting beside her. She squeezes her little girl, which makes her squeak from the tightness of the hug.
Sally looks shocked and horrified while Theo and Blaise share a surprised look in the background. "And who owned that wand?" Marina questions as her aunt Sally hasn't told her anything yet, as she planned to tell her later so she can just enjoy this trip.
"We do not speak his name. The wand chooses the witch, Ms. Potter. It's not always clear why. But I think it is clear that we can expect great things from you. After all, He-Who-Must-Not-Be-Named did great things. Terrible, yes, but great." Ollivander hands Marina back her wand.
Everyone is silent at the mention of the Dark Lord, who many still believe to be gone, while Marina and her wizarding friends share looks knowing the truth.
[Everyone's inner worries and thoughts are disrupted by the sound of the bell ringing as the door opens, in walks a beautiful posh woman with brown skin and black braids that is pulled into an updo walks in front of an attractive but harsh looking man. They exude class, and the two boys straighten up at what the aunt and niece assume are their parents.]
Marina cringes at the sight of her boyfriend's father, who she's met a handful of times, but it's always unpleasant seeing him. While Ms. Zabini is always pleasant when they cross paths.
"Are you both finished getting your wands?" The beautiful woman questions the boys.
"Yes, mother."
"Yes, Mrs. Zabini." The two boys reply to the woman while the man catches sight of the aunt and niece duo standing off to the side.
[His harsh blue eyes catch sight of the lighting bolt that's almost hidden by Marina's dark hair. Recognizing the girl makes the man give the girl a light glare and sneer before turning back to the three whom he associates with.]
Poseidon glares back at the man on screen who glared at his daughter, James is also glaring. How dare that man glare at my beautiful little pearl, James hugs his daughter to him.
"Let us go." The man instructs, holding the door open for the woman and the children. Green eyes catch a softer pair of blue eyes before they disappear behind the door frame.
Aphrodite gives a giggle at the younger version of the couple, catching eyes again while Poseidon ignores the flutter of his heart that he feels from his daughter.
[Once the aunt and niece are alone, after Ollivader leaves further into his shop, the duo share a look wondering what the heck just happened. Marina grips her wand before actually examining it. It's a dark wood that has veins of blue throughout. The bottom of the wand contains a crystal that reminds her of the waves of the ocean, which makes her smile.]
"It's so beautiful." Marina quietly comments to herself, but Sally hears her and smiles when she sees her admiring her wand.
Poseidon smiles as the feeling of home wash over him as Marina admires her wand on screen. He's glad that his daughter feels at home with things related to his domain.
Ron's stomach rumbles, which makes him blush in embarrassment. Mcgonagall decides, "Let's all take a break to eat and go to the bathroom."
People leave their seats while Marina goes to get food. However, she's stopped by Theo.
"Can we talk?" Theo questions his girlfriend who knows exactly what he wants to talk about.
Marina nods, leading Theo out into the hall so they can talk in peace. People see the two walk out together and are going to make jokes before seeing the seriousness on both the teens' faces, deciding to leave them be.
Once far enough away from the hall, Marina faces Theo as they lean against the same wall, looking at each other. Marina is not going to be the one to bring up what she knows he wants to talk about as they have fought many times about her feelings regarding her fate.
"I know what you were referring to earlier when you told your mother about accepting the ladyship of your family house." Theo stares down his girlfriend who looks away from him, not wanting to talk about this.
"Theo, we have talked about this multiple times." Marina glances at Theo, whose eyes implore her.
"And every time, I refuse to believe it." Theo shakes his head in denial to what she's insinuating.
Marina has tears in her eyes before looking Theo in the eyes, like every other time they fight about her fate. He looks to be begging her with his eyes to not say the words that she always states as fact.
"I'm fated to die. I have always been since my conception."
