The Vanishing Glass

[The scar's glow immediately dies down, and the camera pans to see Marina, who is now 10 years old, still sleeping. Then, the light turns on outside her bedroom cupboard under the stairs]

"Up! Get up!" Petunia smacks the closet door repeatedly. "Now!" She smacks the door of the closet one last time before walking into the living room.

There is a shocked silence in the hall while Marina sinks in her seat, having never told anyone, even Theo. Everyone slowly looks at the girl who isn't making eye contact with anyone, "Marina..." Sally quietly says. The pain in her aunt's voice makes her wince, "Why didn't you tell me?"

Sally feels guilty for never knowing. She always knew her niece didn't like it there, but not because she was mistreated. She could understand why she didn't like it there, the Dursley's weren't the best people but she never thought they would mistreat her. She was meant to go there to be safe. She was promised by Dumbledore that she would be safe there. She trusted his word as she's heard stories about him from her cousin and his friends.

Marina just shrugs, "I didn't want to ever bother you. You always had so much on your plate as is." Marina makes eye contact with her aunt. They both know about the true monster that lived in their home that hid her from the other monsters. Sally looks down at her meaning, knowing what she means, always worrying about the Greek monsters in New York and dealing with Gabe.

Poseidon sits furious among his godly family. He looks furious, and everyone around the god is throwing looks his way. Hades and Zeus, who is sitting next to their brother, whisper to him in hopes of calming him down a little. Hestia releases some of her aura, making the angry sea god calm down slightly. "Your daughter is fine. She's right over there." Hermes points over to the couch containing the mortal family.

They look over to see Lily crying while Marina, Sally, and James comfort her. She's very upset that her sister would mistreat a child, especially her own niece. Remus is comforting his husband, who is reminded of his own childhood. They both are furious that Marina is treated like that.

Marina's friends are very upset, while the wizarding world is wondering what else they don't know about their chosen one. (A lot, that's for sure.)

Once Marina gets her mother to stop crying and calm down, she looks over to her very protective boyfriend. Theo sits blank faced next to Blaise, who is holding his arm, knowing this is bringing up memories of Theo's own trauma. Knowing what's going through his mind, she quickly leaves her seat and sits beside him, letting Blaise keep her previous seat.

She sits beside him and curls her hand over his fist while gently playing with his hair with her other, "Theo, my love, are you present?" She quietly talks to him. He looks at her making eye contact, staring into those mismatched greens that he loves so much.

He curls his finger into hers, bringing her hand up and kissing it while staring at her. Blaise lets his childhood friend go, knowing he's okay, especially now with his girlfriend. She smiles softly at her boyfriend, admiring his blue eyes that stare at her, reassuring her that he's okay, that he's with her.

Someone gets up from their seat and walks over to the group, sitting on Marina's other side. The people on the couch turn to see Poseidon sitting next to his daughter. He wraps his arm around his daughter, closer to him and away from her boyfriend. Realizing what he's doing makes Marina laugh as she still holds Theo's hand, Poseidon stares down at the boy who just looks back at the screen as he hides his nervousness.

Someone in the hall asks, "Wait, who was that woman?" Majority is confused on who the woman is.

"My sister, Petunia." Lily looks extremely upset, James comforts his wife while Poseidon looks at the couple.

[Marina wakes up, turns on her bedroom light, and tries to brush her messy hair, finally managing to put it up in a ponytail. A large, tubby boy, Dudley Dursley, suddenly comes running down the stairs above the closet. He stops halfway down and goes back, jumping on the staircase.]

"Wake up, cousin! We're going to the zoo!" Dudley shouts as he jumps.

[Marina looks up to the join works of the stairs with small amounts of dusts rising. Dudley laughs, comes down the stairs, and runs for the kitchen. Marina tries to come out of the closet, but the door is pushed back by Dudley, but she manages to slam the door against Dudley, who falls to the floor. Dudley rushes into the kitchen where Petunia is.]

"Marina pushed me!" Dudley cries to his parents. They glare at Marina, who just walked in.

"Liar!" People in the hall shout.

"No, I didn't. He's lying." Marina says with a frown on her face, knowing they won't believe her.

"I will deal with you later." Vernon sneers at the girl. Her frown deepens, but she moves away from the man.

A few catch the action, having a bad feeling.

"Here is the birthday boy!" Petunia coos over her obnoxious son.

"Happy birthday, son." Vernon adds in. Petunia and Dudley giggle together.

"Why don't you cook breakfast and try not to burn anything." Petunia says to Marina unpleasantly.

"Then cook it yourself!" People shout at the screen.

"Is this how you got good at cooking?" Sally questions, she always wondered how Marina was always a good cook as she never taught her and when she tried to teach her, she already knew how.

"Yeah, As soon as I could reach, they started making me cook. I'm lucky I'm pretty fire resistant, or I would have lots of burns." Marina shrugs, having been used to the way she was treated by them.

Marina's friends (Clarisse included as she's kind of a frenemy) are used to her nature of brushing off pain and other shit.

This makes people upset, especially parents, at the thought of a child forced to cook and continuously burning themselves.

Lily and James sit upset at how their daughter's life is already going, wondering how much worse it will be, having been warned by the fates. Sally sits upset at how she could have missed a lot of stuff. She's not that oblivious, right?

Poseidon holds his daughter close as he looks at her arms for burn marks, but all he sees is the battle scars from her fighting monsters, which makes him upset. If he had the choice, he would hide her away in his palace at the bottom of the sea, where nothing could hurt her.

Theo is furious if he could make those muggles pay for mistreating his darling and making her burn herself from being forced to cook as a child.

Seeing the anger on Theo's face, Marina squeezes Theo's hand, gaining his attention. He looks at her only for her to give him a quick kiss to calm him down. When she pulls back, he tries to follow her lips before she gives him a look to calm down. He relents and calms a little.

Poseidon shifts his eyes from his daughter who his arm is wrapped around and her boyfriend, unsure.

"Yes, Aunt Petunia." Marina mumbled out, not wanting anymore trouble. She then gets to work on cooking the bacon.

"I want everything to be perfect for my Dudley's special day." Petunia crows.

"Hurry up! Bring my coffee, girl!" Vernon says to Marin,  who is taking her time placing the bacon on the plates. Said girl pauses to rein in her anger. The clear vase next to he  shows the water sloshing inside.

People shout at the man on screen.

The Greeks are shocked over the water,  reacting to her emotions like they would Poseidon. She's a lot like her father and very in tune with his domain. While Poseidon is very proud of his daughter.

"Yes, Uncle Vernon." Marina gritted out.

[Petunia leads Dudley over to the family room, where there are a vast amount of presents. Dudley stares.]

"Aren't they wonderful, darling?" Petunia asks her son.

"How many are there?" Dudley asks his parents.

"36. Counted 'em myself." Vernon proudly announces.

"Want a medal." Theo says with a  slight smirk on his face,  which makes people chuckle,  including Marina, Theo's smirk widening at the sound of his darlings laugh. He squeezes her hand,  and she squeezes back.

"36?! But last year... last year I had 37!!" Dudley shout, starting to throw a fit.

Everyone is shocked by his spoiled attitude. The pureblood knew that if they talked to their parents that way, they would receive a curse back.

"Err, yes, well, some of them are quite a bit bigger than last year." Vernon stutters.

"I don't care how big they are!" Dudley shouts, now in a full fit.

"Oh, now, now, now. This is what we're going to do, is that when we go out, we're going to buy you two new presents! How's that, pumpkin?" Petunia appeases the whining boy, calming him down.

"Don't condone it!" People shout at the woman, especially parents and caregivers.

[Outside the house in the morning. The happy family is heading to the car.]

"This will be a lovely day at the zoo. I'm really looking forward to it." Petunia says, leading her son to the car.

[Marina then goes to go in the car, but Vernon stops her, pointing his keys at her.]

"I'm warning you now, girl. Any funny business, any at all, and you won't have any meals for as long as you're here. Get in." Vernon sneers at Marina, who scowls back at him.

"They didn't really do that, right?" Rachel asks. Marina pretends she doesn't hear her as she fidgets with Theo's finger. However,  Theo and Poseidon notice she tenses a little and stops fidgeting before continuing like nothing happened.

The screen plays again before they can ask her again.

[At the London Zoo, the Dursley family is in the reptile house, looking at a large Boa constrictor.]

The sight of the snake in the cage makes Grover and Rachel frown.

The sight of the snake makes Marina smirk, which her friends and father catch.

"What did you do?" Annabeth questions Marin, who looks at the blonde in innocence. Everyone looks to the group.

"I didn't do anything." Marina denies still trying to play innocent and hold back a smile.

"You had a troublemaker smile on your face." Hermione adds on.

Marina sighs and finally releases her troublemaker's smile, "I'm not telling, but I will say this. Dad, Sirius, Fred, George, Hermes and Apollo, you'll like this. Mom and Aunt Sally, not so much." This makes said people cheer or groan as they prepare themselves.

Leaning close to her boyfriend, Marina chuckles. "Get ready, my love." Theo gets excited about what trouble his darling causes.

"Make it move." Dudley tells his father.

Vernon taps the glass of the cage. "Move!"

Dudley taps the glass much harder, and Vernon nervously winces. "MOVE!" Dudley shouts.

"He's asleep." Marina tells the annoying boy with a scowl.

"He's boring." Dudley says. Dudley and his parents head over to another enclosure. Marina is left with the snake.

Marina scoffs, "You're one to talk."

"Sorry about him. He doesn't understand what it's like, lying there day after day, having people press their ugly faces in on you." The snake looks up and blinks. "Can you...hear me?"

This confuses the Greeks as they know Poseidon can't speak to snakes, "How can you speak to snakes, Missy?" Clarisse questions.

"It's a magical ability, it's called Parseltogue, which is snake speak. It's a very rare ability that is typically associated with dark witches and wizards. It was in one family line, but how I obtained it will be explained more in the second movie." Marina shrugs off her explanation.

People stare at her, shocked by her explanation, "I thought you were dumb?" Thalia says to the witch. Marina looks at Thalia slightly offended before they both start laughing.

"You've been around Hermione too much." "You've been around Annabeth too much." Ron and Grover say before looking at each other, shocked. Hermione and Annabeth look offended at their respected friend.

The snake nods, "It's just...I've never talked to a snake before. Do you...I mean...do you talk to people often?" The snake shakes its head. "You're from Burma, aren't you? Was it nice there? Do you miss your family?" The snake turns its head in the direction of a sign which says, Bred in Captivity. "I see. That's me as well. I never knew any of my parents, either." Marina says.

"Why are you comparing yourself to a snake?" Nico questions the girl.

"I honestly don't know, I was a lonely kid." Marina shrugs.

"Really?" Ron questions, confused. She was cool when he met her.

Marina laughs, "Of course I was, You might not have realized, but you were the first person who wanted to be friends with me. Before that, I would get into fights with bullies, which resulted in me getting kicked out of school."

Her words shocked a lot of people, So many looked up to her, and to find out she was a troubled and lonely kid was surprising.

[The now awake snake has attracted Dudley's attention. He comes over to the glass, knocking Marina to the floor.]

People yell at the boy on screen for knocking over Marina, Theo squeezes Marina's hand, and she kisses his hand, which makes him bite his lip to hide his smile.

"Mummy, dad, come here! You won't believe what this snake is doing!" Dudley puts his hands on the glass wall.

[With his back turned, Marina glares at him. Suddenly, the glass disappears, and the water reaches forward, grabbing Dudley.]

"Whoa! Ahh! Ahh!!" Dudley falls into the snake enclosure, sputtering in a pool of water. Marina snickers at what she saw.

People start cracking up and burst out laughing, especially James, Sirius, Fred, George, Hermes, and Apollo, just like she said.

Theo is also cracking up. He kisses Marina hand, "Oh My Merlin, I love you." His words make them both freeze, including Poseidon and Blaise, who sit next to them. While a nearby goddess squeals at the love coming off them both.

"Did you just-" Blaise goes to ask Theo but is cut off by Marina.

"I love you too." Marina stares at her boyfriend looking for his reaction, while Poseidon looks between his daughter and her boyfriend, flabbergasted.

Theo sees the truth in her eyes, so he deeply kisses her as she kisses him back.

Poseidon gags at their kissing and moves back to his seat with the other gods before looking to the goddess of love for confirmation. She nods, confirming their statements. The sea god sighs, knowing to just let them be or Marina, Sally, Lily, and Aphrodite will be on his tail for trying to separate them.

He glances at his daughter, who is smiling and happy in her boyfriend's arms. He knows the life of a demigod is a tragic one, so he will let her have her happiness and hope it won't become a tragic love like most Greek stories.

The snake gets out of the exhibit, stopping in front of Marina. "Thanksss." The snake hisses.

"Anytime." Marina tells the snake. The snake slivers off to the exit.

"SNAKE!" A man screams. There are a lot of people screaming throughout the reptile house as the snake heads for freedom. Dudley gets up to get out, but the glass is now back over the enclosure.

"Mum, mummy!" Seeing that he is now trapped, Dudley pounds the glass in panic.

"AHH!" Petunia screeches when she notices him in the exhibit.

"Mum, help! Help me!" Dudley yells to his mother on the other side of the glass.

"My darling boy! How did you get in there?! How did you get in there? Dudley, oh, Dudley!" Petunia looks for an escape for Dudley.

[Marina grins and snickers, Vernon notices this and glares down at her. Marina's grin disappears, replaced with a frown, knowing that she is in trouble with Vernon.]

The room sobers up at what Vernon will do to her, worried for the girl.

Marina's loved ones look at the girl to reassure herself that she's okay, Theo pulls her closer to his side.

Marina purses her lips, remembering what happened. It didn't go the way anyone expected even herself.
