School Letter
[Back at the Dursleys'. Petunia and a bundled up Dudley come in.]
"It's all right, sweetheart. It's all right." Petunia assures a distressed Dudley.
[They walk in the living room. Marina and Vernon enter. Vernon slams the door and shoves Marina against a wall, taking her ponytail.]
"Ow!" Marina yells in pain and anger, glaring at Vernon.
People shout at the man on screen. Theo goes stone faced as he attempts to control his anger, Marina squeezes Theo's arm that's wrapped around her.
Sally is pale and Lily is starting to cry as she and Lily hold onto each other. James, Sirius, and Remus sit furious as they all try to hold onto each other to keep the others in their seats.
Poseidon winces at the feeling of his hair being pulled while sitting with his brothers holding onto him to keep him in his seat, Poseidon's face is the picture of anger but otherwise remains in his seat. The room rumbling is a little bit, which is making people slightly nervous, but it's not enough to move anything.
Marina's friends are shocked and angry; Annabeth, Thalia, and Clarisse are being held back by the others so they don't attack the screen. Nico sports a frown on his face watching, he knows that they don't have the best relationship — especially as he now knows that she tried to save Bianca — but he wouldn't want her to be hurt.
Amelia Bones is writing in her notebook. Clearly, muggleborn and halfblood homes need to ensured that their magic is accepted.
Marina isn't looking at anybody as she sits with Theo. People start looking at the girl, including Hermione.
"Marina? That doesn't happen every time you use accidental magic, right?" Hermione questions her best friend. Her question makes everyone worried for her.
Marina thinks for a moment, "No, not all the time. It's complicated." Her words reassure them at least a little, but what she says next doesn't.
"For this upcoming part, Prepare yourselves." They look at her with worry as she hasn't given a warning before. Everyone slowly turns to look at the screen as they prepare themselves. Marina squeezes Theo's arms once more. Theo pulls her closer to his side and gives her a light kiss on her temple.
"WHAT HAPPENED?!" Vernon bellows at the girl.
"It was magic! Obviously!" Marina yells back at the man like he is dumb, trying to free her hair from his grip.
People shake their head at her remark. She needs to keep her mouth shut sometimes.
"That's my niece." Sirius says a very slight smile at her remark, but he's still immensely worried. People shake their heads at him as well, especially Remus, Lily, and McGonagall.
[Vernon scoffs at this. Marina, having enough of this, kicks him straight between the legs, which makes him let go of her and double over, holding his groin.]
People cheer when she kicks him, especially her dads, Sirius, the Weasley twins, Apollo, Hermes, Tonks, Rachel, Thalia, and Clarisse. Remus sports a proud grin as do Lily and Sally. Even some of her professors look proud.
The majority of the guys wince and cover themselves, feeling the phantom kick themselves. Theo has a proud smile on his face, "You are amazing." Theo kisses her between each word, ending off with a deep kiss, which makes her start to laugh against his lips at his words, which makes her pull away.
Blaise coughs, "Simp," he coughs out at his friend. Theo looks back at the boy offended before agreeing while Marina, Annabeth, and the others around them laugh at them.
[She steps away from the leaning man, but he shoves her to the floor, making her face hit the floor with the force. She looks back at him, glaring with a bruising cheek and bleeding nose.]
The hall quickly breaks out into chaos. Marina's loved ones stand up, furious at the sight of her getting hurt by that man.
The rumbling gets worse as Poseidon's anger breaks free at the pain he feels from his daughter; he's quickly held back by his siblings. "He dares lay his hands on my pearl!" Poseidon's cheek is bruised and his nose drips gold, which makes him look even more crazy.
Remus and Lily quickly grab hold of their husbands, trying to push them back into their seats. They talk to them over them yelling profanities at the screen. Sally is trying to help wrangle them even if they all are angry.
Hermione shoots up from her seat which knocks Ron's food from lap, she quickly pulls out her wand but Ron quickly stops her from throwing a spell and destroying the screen, he glances at his fallen food.
Grover lets out an angry bleat as he stomps his hoofs. Thalia is watching Annabeth and Clarisse closely, especially Clarisse. The room becomes darker, and the ghosts of the castle start gathering in the room as Nico's face becomes darker, which alarms the witches and wizards, having never seen the ghosts act like this.
Charlie and Bill have to hold the twins in their seats while Arthur comforts Molly, who is tearing up. Artemis sits angry in her seat, she respected Marina from when she helped her and their dealings with Atlas's curse and Atlas himself, her bow at the ready as she glares at the screen. Apollo glances at his twin, nervous, not wanting to be on the receiving end of her arrow due to her anger.
Even Dionysus has looked up from his magazine.
Theo is glaring at the screen as his knuckles turn white, wanting to hit the man on screen. Marina and Blaise are holding him back as they talk to him, "Dude, calm down. She's right here, and she's fine." Blaise attempts to talk down his friend who is in full blown rage.
"Blaise is right, I'm perfectly fine. He can't hurt me anymore." Marina tells her boyfriend.
Ares sits back in his seat, feeling all the rage and feeling of violence in the air. Hestia releases her aura around the room to hope to calm everyone, which calms the majority of the room. People are holding onto their seats as the room is still rumbling from Poseidon's anger.
Marina starts to get more annoyed by everything. She pushes Theo back into his seat. Theo looks at his girlfriend when she pushes him into his seat. He notices she's starting to get more annoyed.
"Enough!" Marina's voice booms, which makes people look at her as the rumbling calms a little. She looks around the room, "Sit back down." Her voice is commanding, and she greatly resembles Poseidon.
The witches and wizards are quick to follow her instructions, including her friends. Marina is scary even to the other demigods, who know not to tempt her anger. She looks to her mortal loved ones who are still standing; Lily, Remus, and Sally bring James and Sirius back to their seats.
She turns her attention to the gods, more specifically her godly dad. "Can you sit down so we can continue with the films? You are bleeding all over the place. We need to get to the next part so you can stop bleeding and heal."
Poseidon and Marina stare at each other, both very stubborn and hardheaded, neither are backing down. Everyone looks between the father and daughter, waiting for who will back down first.
"Just sit down, I'm fine, and either way, you can't change the past. We are here to change the future. This won't be the last time I get hurt or the worst injury. You need to calm down. You're messing up the hall." Marina tells her dad as she gestures around them where people are still holding onto the couches and seats.
Poseidon looks to his daughter again before the rumbling stops, everyone sighing as the people get back into their seats and picking up fallen things. "Thank you, You might enjoy this next part coming up, dad." She gives the sea god a mischievous grin, which makes people eye her.
"There is no such thing as magic!" Vernon stands at his full height, grabbing her hair again and pulls her off the ground by her hair, making her whimper in pain.
"Yes, there is!" People shout at the man. Marina's loved ones growl and glare when she's grabbed by her hair again. Poseidon winces at the pull of his hair as he glares at the screen again. There is very light rumbling.
"Let go, you walrus!" Marina screams at the man, the house starts to rumble and pictures falling as the sink bursts in the kitchen, scaring Petunia and Dudley.
[He drops the girl as he looks around wary, Marina glaring hatefully at the man as the house rumbles around her. He finally just grabs her and shoves her in the cupboard under the stairs and slams the door, blackening the vent on the door.]
People stared at her, shocked, both on screen and in the room. They knew she was powerful, but this is something else entirely.
Poseidon sits proud of his daughters control over his domain, he's never had a demigod daughter before, and when he found out that he did get a daughter, he was shocked and worried for her future.
The Greeks share worried looks over her abilities. She's already shown that she was powerful, but they never knew she had control over Poseidon's earthshaker abilities even before she knew about the Greek world.
[The screen changes to show Marina asleep in bed, healed from the last time she was on screen, the room is a mess and there are muddy boots on the windowsill and the closet which has old bags, blankets, clothes and other things falling out. Sally comes into the room, sitting next to a drooling Marina.]
Poseidon's injuries heal on his face as she has since healed from the last scene.
"Why are your rooms always messy?" Annabeth questions Marina, who purses her lips.
"Her part of the dorm is the same way." Hermione shakes her head. She's told Marina in the past to clean up as her part of the dorm is almost the only part that's a complete wreck.
"Firstly, because it just is. Secondly, Hermione, my part isn't the only part that's messy. We share a dorm with 3 other girls. And lastly, Gabe uses my room as a study while I'm at school. So he shoves all my stuff in the closet and puts his muddy boots on my windowsill, and stinks up the place." Marina scowls at the mention of the man. Grover bleats angrily at the mention of the man, feeling Marina's anger about the man and from what he remembers about the smelly man.
Her description makes people angry at the man. Marina and Sally share a look with each other, remembering what happened to him.
"You drool in your sleep?" Rachel questions, she's still getting to know the girl who she went on a quest with.
"She does, Theo's told me multiple times how he thinks it's adorable." Blaise exposed both Theo and Marina, who both sank in their seats, embarrassed. People laugh at them while Aphrodite adores the love she felt from the boy for Marina and her drool.
"Marina, It's time to wake up." Sally shakes the sleeping girl who is looking completely out of it.
[Marina peeks her eyes open to see her aunt beside her. She sits up, still tired. Her with a line of drool running down her cheek and her hair a complete mess. She yawns before looking at her aunt, wiping her face free of drool with the napkin her aunt hands her.]
Theo admires his girlfriend on screen. Her sleepy and messy state makes him happy, for she had a moment of peace.
"Good morning, Aunt Sally." She tiredly smiles at her aunt who pushes the girl's messy dark hair away from her face.
"Good morning! Happy birthday, Marina." The woman smiles warmly at her niece, who she raised as her own.
"Happy birthday!" People tell the girl both on and off screen.
[Her words make Marina pause before remembering that it is her birthday. More specifically, her eleventh birthday, which her aunt says is a very important birthday, which she doesn't fully know why.]
"Thank you, Aunt Sally." She gives the woman a smile back as she looks at the clock beside her.
"I'll be waiting for you in the kitchen for your breakfast," Sally stops in the doorway before looking back at her niece, "Also, a letter came for you this morning." She gives the sleepy girl a smile before closing the door behind her.
The mention of the letter makes people perk up, James cheers, "She's getting her letter! Lily, she's about to get her letter!" James excitedly chatters.
Lily laughs at her husband, "I know, James, I heard." James kisses Lily in his excitement.
[Marina falls back onto the bed, taking a moment before finally getting ready.]
"Things are going to change, aren't they?" Marina asks herself.
"Yes," Marina tells herself, which makes people look at her.
"You knew that you got your Hogwarts letter?" Ron questions.
Marina shakes her head, "No, I just had a feeling things were going to change. I've always had feelings like that."
This makes people wonder. The Greeks wonder if she was getting warnings from the fates.
[After getting ready, Marina glances around the apartment before walking out of my room. The television is blaring while Gabe is passed out on the couch, with a burnt out cigar on the couch next to him. I go into the kitchen and peek into the trash can as I pass it, there beer cans and chips that Aunt Sally picked up after Gabe.]
People cringe at the sight of the man. The amount of beer cans and chips in the trash shocked people. Aphrodite shakes her head. There is nothing she can do to help him at all.
"Who is that?" People question, wondering who this random gross man is.
"My ex-husband." Sally's mouth thins at the words. People look at her bewildered. They look between the beautiful woman and the man on screen. Wondering what was going through his head.
"Why would you marry him?" Hera questions, while she doesn't exactly like mortals, even she knew Sally could marry quite high up with her personality and looks.
Sally frowns, not wanting to say, so Marina speaks up. "For me." This makes people look at the two confused.
Marina gets up, walking across as she speaks, "His scent masked my own, protecting me from monsters as I grew up." Marina stops in front of Sally, who looks at her niece with teary eyes.
"Thank you for protecting me." Marina tells her aunt before doing something that shocks the room, especially the Greeks.
Marina kneels before her aunt, showing her respect. The room is in pure silence as everyone watches the girl.
The sound is broken by a cry, people look to see Sally has started crying. She quickly hugs her niece, who tightly hugs her back. People are tearing up at the emotional moment and the love between the two.
Hestia smiles at the family, Poseidon gives Sally a smile for protecting and loving Marina. Lily and James are happy that Marina ended up Sally, who they knew would love her as her own.
The gods look at the woman in respect who married a horrible man in order to protect her niece.
Marina is sat between Sally and Lily. She's held by the two women as she holds onto them as well. Everyone wipes their teary eyes.
"Aunt Sally?" Marina questions, not seeing her aunt. There is a shuffle coming from another room.
"Just a moment." Sally's voice comes from her bedroom.
[Marina sits at the table and see's what she assumes is her letter, considering it has her name and their address on it. She turns the letter over to see a stamped seal. She looks closer at the seal to see what kind of looks like animals, but at the center is a large 'H'. Sally comes in and stops when she sees Marina has her letter. She has a sad smile on her face as she looks at the girl. Her face clears when she sits next to the girl.]
"She's got her letter!" Sirius cheers, which spurs on James. They start whooping as Remus shakes his head. People laugh at the two when they are told off by Professor McGonagall to sit down.
"Open it." Sally tells the girl who looks at her aunt, noticing that she feels off.
[Marina hesitates before opening it, and she starts to read.]
"Dear, Ms. Potter. We are pleased to inform you that you have been accepted at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry." Marina stops before snapping her head to look at her aunt.
"So there are other types of magic besides the portkey?" Marina questions her aunt.
"You knew about port keys before magic?" Blaise questions.
Marina nods, "Yeah, we used portkeys to get from America to England and vice versa."
"Why didn't you just fly on a plane?" A random muggleborn questions.
"Because she's a daughter of Poseidon, she can't fly through Zeus' domain without being struck down." Annabeth tells them.
"But she flies on a broom?" Someone else questions, as the witches and wizards are confused.
"She is using my domain when she flies on a broom, so Zeus can't just strike her down without consequences." Hecate informs one of her subjects.
Sally nods, "There is. Two of your parents were witches and wizards. James and Lily." She tells the curious girl.
"What about pops? Was he also a wizard?" Marina wonders about her other father, whom she knows hardly anything about.
"You've always known you had another dad?" Clarisse questions her frenemy.
"Yeah, Aunt Sally told me, and I had a memory of his smile from when I was a baby." Marina tells the girl.
This makes the other gods look at the sea god, "You visited her?" Zeus angrily questions his brother.
Poseidon shrugs, "Of course I did. She's my first demigod daughter and my first child in 50 years."
Hades shakes his head at his brother while Zeus starts yelling at Poseidon, who is ignoring him. The screen starts up, which interrupts Zeus' yelling.
Sally hesitates before speaking, "No, however he could use a different type of magic, but I don't know much about him or his magic." Sally holds Marina's hand, "When you go to this magic school, you can not speak of your pops. His relationship with your parents was secret, and it must stay a secret, okay?" Sally looks at Marina with urging eyes.
Marina nods along with her aunt, "Okay, is this the school that my parents went to?" Marina questions, looking back at the letter.
"It is. I went to school here in America, which is Ilvermorny, but you will be going to Hogwarts in Scotland." Sally tells Marina as she starts to get their breakfast.
Marina pauses, looking down at the letter in her hand, "What if I get kicked out of this school too? Like I always do." Her words make Sally pause before she grabs Marina's hand, which holds her letter, gaining her attention.
The bitter and sad voice of Marina makes everyone give her pitying looks, which she ignores.
"You won't. Your father got up to so many antics while at school. If they can handle his chaos, then they can handle yours. You'll be fine, I promise you." Sally tells her niece who smiles at her, a little happy at her reassurance.
"She's right, pearl, we were never expelled, so you'll be fine." James tells his daughter, who purses her lips.
"I've almost been expelled twice already." Marina tells her dad, which shocks everyone who didn't already know.
"That's a record! That never happened while we were in school!" Sirius praises her, which makes Remus smack the man.
"When?" Grover questions, having not heard about this.
"My second year here and at the beginning of this year." Marina tells the satyr who sits shocked that he didn't at least know about this year's expulsion.
"Why didn't I know about this?" Grover bleats at the girl. Some of the witches and wizards glance at him at his bleat.
"You've had a lot on your plate lately, G-man." Marina tells him, the others agreeing. Lately, Grover has been very busy since the fading of Pan.
Grover knows she's right, "I could have laughed about it." Marina looks at her friend a little offended.
Marina chuckles and shrugs, "I'll tell you next time I'm almost expelled." Grover nods in agreement.
People look between the two bewildered while their friends don't even react, used to their dumbness.
"What kind of antics did dad get up to?" Marina questions, eager to know about the magic chaos that her father did.
"All sorts of things," Sally shakes her head. "How about I tell you some more about your parents, magic, and what little I know about Hogwarts? I can tell you over breakfast." Sally offers the girl who immediately takes up the offer.
The demigods start shifting around in their seats, "Can we take a break?" Marina questions. She noticed that the other demigods were also getting antsy.
People start to notice, and everyone agrees to take a break.
