OC/Severus Snape

I dreamed of him. It felt weird being able to sleep after two restless nights but I enjoyed the fact that I was dosing off happily but maybe not so deeply as I wanted to. The dream surrounded me like a heavy curtain, red and thick and golden around its edges.

The dream me was standing beside a big fireplace in a house I didn’t recognize. The house was dim lit and full of books piled on top of each other. What made the house look different was the electric lamp in the corner of the room. It was emitting yellow light over an armchair and a small table with an open book and reading glasses. It was weird since only a few people in the wizarding world used glasses when sight problems could be fixed with magic. Clearly this was a wizards or a witch’s home, since there were several candles floating in the air, herbs hanging from the ceiling and a shimmering cauldron on a shelf.

She stepped closer to the fireplace and turned her attention towards the runic carvings on the stone. She trailed the hot surface with her finger mouthing the words and apparently translating them in her mind. She was clearly fascinated by the runes and smiled to herself at the end of the text.

“I didn’t think that you would find ancient runes interesting,” a deep voice came from behind the dream me. She turned around and faced a familiar man holding two glasses of red wine.

“There are a lot of things that you don’t know about me, Severus,” she said accepting a glass from the dark-haired man in front of her.

“You shouldn’t have come,” he spoke slowly.

“You’re right,” the dream me agreed.

She sipped from the glass gently while keeping eye contact with Severus waiting for him to say something. He stayed silent and she observed him. He wasn’t wearing his usual attire, but a more relaxed look. Of course, he wore all black like always, black trousers and a black long-sleeved shirt. He was in muggle clothes. The dream me didn’t mind, in fact, she quite liked this change of clothing. However, his hair remained the same, hanging limply to his shoulders. The blazing fire reflected from it making it look shiny in the dark room. A dark but a very cozy room since it was bathing in a warm light coming from the fireplace. The atmosphere was warm but full of secrets.

The dream me and dream Severus sat down on a leather couch facing the fireplace. They didn’t talk much but were just enjoying each other’s company.

“You were wrong with what you said last time. I do not regret any of it what happened between us,” she said. She lowered the glass on a small table and crossed her legs. She wore black high heels and sitting down felt like a relieve after a long day of walking.

“I wish it would have happened under different circumstances,” he answered.

“Me too.”

“You amaze me with how determined you were. You wanted me to understand how-,” he struggled for a moment unsure of what to say next. “How you felt,” he said slowly. The dream me nodded agreeing to his comment. He looked a little uncomfortable and swirled the wine around in the glass. His hair fell to his face as he looked down.

“I do understand how you feel,” he finally said and looked in the fireplace.

She was surprised. But how could he understand, unless? Unless he felt like she did. Like she couldn’t get enough of him. After all that happened between the two of them, she still couldn’t fully rid herself of him. When he had already found his place in her heart.

“You feel the same way?” she asked carefully.

“I can’t talk about this. It’s too-,” he struggled again.

“Too much too fast,” she finished. She started to get up. “I should give you some room to think about everything.”

As the dream me started stand, Severus grabbed her hand keeping her still. He lifted his gaze to her eyes and said, “Stay.”

The dream started fading around me. The cozy room and the couple sitting on the sofa vanished into a void. My consciousness was restless and wanted to know more about the dream. It had felt so real unlike the most of my dreams. But it was gone for good and only a strong memory, a strong feeling remained.
