Chapter 2

28th of May 1989

While the boy was sleeping and healing, goblins in high positions were in a hurry. Those goblins who were in Harry’s case, were thoroughly checked for secrecy and competency. They had a lot of things to get done as soon as possible and only the best ones could be trusted with this. During the checks they had found out a goblin who was in charge of the Potter vaults breaking his contract and was executed for treason.

The whole situation was hard because their client was underage and currently unconscious. They lawfully shouldn’t be able to make these decisions. They were aware that the boy didn’t know about Wizarding World at all and was overall ignorant of their customs. So for this reason they had contacted the Potter family lawyer and were waiting for him to come to the bank. Silverclaw hoped the lawyer was ready to take the right actions for his client. Potter lawyers were luckily famous in the goblin world of their competence. Hopefully he was the same.

There was a knock on the door. “Mister Davis is here”, was heard outside the door. “Direct him inside!” Silverclaw answered.

The door opened and there stood a middle-aged man. He had dark hair and light blue eyes which reminded Silverclaw of the eyes of Blacks’. He was slim but toned and had tanned skin. Silverclaw had a good feeling about him. He looked professional. Silverclaw sat there silently and observed the man.

The said man looked curiously around with a baffled air around him. He clearly didn’t know why he was here and tried to not to show it but little could escape Silverclaw’s observation.

“Sit down Mister Davis”, Silverclaw said. “We are going to be here for a while.” “Get us some tea”, he said to the goblin who had escorted Davis in the room. The goblin agreed and left the room. The room was made of stone and marple and had almost bare walls. Only one wall had huge cabinets holding weapons and parchment scrolls. The room was one of the biggest and most secure rooms in Gringotts.

“Greetings Master Goblin. What am I needed for, if I can ask?” asked Mister Davis. He hadn’t had a client through Gringotts since James Potter died.

Before Silverclaw could answer, the tea came. “Help yourself”, Silverclaw invited. Davis thought it was best to do as said because goblins didn’t usually serve tea to their clients. This was going to be serious and long talk.

“We have contacted you for our current client, Mister Davis”, Silverclaw said. “He is currently underage and we can’t do this without a solicitor. He is under the security of Gringotts but we need your help in representing this said client and speaking for him”, continued Silverclaw. “He is currently a high security person and we have a suspicion that he is of a Family thought to be dead. He is also severely abused and we have a suspicion someone is trying to gain an upper hand on him and his estates. We need a vow from you before we can say the clients name”

Davis thought for a while and decided he had nothing to lose and he really wanted to help if the situation was as severe as the goblins made it out to be. And it really wasn’t like goblins to make things bigger than they were.

“I’m willing to make a vow.”

The goblin had the whole thing ready and the vow was done quickly. Nothing could have prepared him for the answer.

“The said client is Harry Potter”, came from the goblin as soon as the vow took effect.

The goblin was right. This was a really bad thing.

They started planning straight away after Davis’ contract with the Potter’s was renewed under the watchful eyes of King Ragnok and it was approved by Lady Magic. They weren’t even sure that the boy was Harry Potter but they thought they would make plans in case he was. They weren’t going to take a risk so everything had to be perfect. They could get the boy killed if something went wrong or the wrong people heard about the situation.

Ironblade was a proud goblin and he was in charge of inheritances and problems with them. He was the best on the field and everything was in order. Until now. He had a new extremely severe, sensitive and hard case. A line thought to be dead had been discovered again. There wasn’t any proof yet but nobody could fool this Family and their blood and blessed ones.

Four days ago a snake had come to Gringotts. That wasn’t usual at all. Nobody sent snakes as messengers. The snake had a symbol on its head that every goblin was able to recognize immediately. Luckily the bank was almost empty and the humans didn't see the snake’s symbol. That would have been in the newspaper the same day. Every older and educated magical being would know the mark and what it meant for them.

Their reign was famous and even infamous in some parties. Their word was the law and if you weren't law-abiding the punishments were harsher than nowadays’ countries’ sentences. Many didn't even dare speak badly about them even though they had been gone for 44 long years. It had looked like Grindelwald had succeed with the genocide but now goblins weren't sure anymore. The said family was The Reynes.

They would get their answers when the boy woke up and met with King Ragnok.

Harry woke up to a blinding light and shut his eyes tight again. He tried to open them slower the next time and the light didn’t hurt as much that way. He looked around and found himself in a bright white room with a lot of beds. There were curtains around the beds and some of them were closed. There weren't any windows at all and the walls looked like they were made out of stone. He didn’t find the source of the light. It looked like it was coming from nowhere. There were weird looking creatures on some of the beds. He had never seen anything like them. He thought that he was still unconscious and was dreaming.

Harry was startled. There was the same type of creature on his right staring at him with those creepy looking eyes. They looked at each other for a while and then the creature asked “How are you feeling?” As soon as Harry registered the question he realised how sore he was and said as much. “That's totally normal with your condition”, said the creature at that. “You already look way better than you looked when you were brought here.”

“Who are you?” Harry asked. He hadn’t seen anything like it and while he was out of it, he still thought that asking what it was, would be too rude. While living with Dursleys’ had teached him a lot of things, politeness wasn’t one of them. He had taught those things to himself by looking at how other people treated other people and how they reacted to it. Many would say he was stupid and unobservant but that wasn’t him at all. He had realised with the Dursleys' how acting less intelligent and unobservant, they wouldn’t expect even more than what they already did and how people always underestimated children. Especially the quiet ones.

“I am a goblin healer and my name is Galena”, she also answered his unsaid question of her creature inheritance. She didn’t smile but Harry had this feeling that the smile would be way creepier than her scowl. She also looked like someone that gets you to do everything she tells you to do.

So these were the goblins which Amyntas had talked about, Harry realised. He didn’t know what a healer was so he asked. “Healer is like a muggle doctor”, answered Galena. Harry realised that muggle had to be a word for normal people because doctor was a word he was familiar with. Not that he had ever gone to the doctor.

“Where am I and how did I get here?” Harry asked. He really wanted to know because he had no idea “What is the last thing you remember?” Galena wanted to know. Harry had to think about it for a while. Finally he answered “I remember Vernon and then I heard this weird growling like sound. After that everything went to black.” “Ah you probably heard the goblins who came back for you. You weren’t at the place where Amyntas told you to meet so they went to look for you and found you just in time to save you from your uncle”, answered Galena.

“Are you ready to meet with the Goblin King? What we could find out in this short time, your case needs to be treated with ultimate security and without alerting anyone”, Galena asked. “We’ll get you something to eat before it.”

Harry looked surprised at the mention of getting food but his stomach let out an agreeing sound to the food.

“When was the last time you ate?” Galena inquired. “I don’t remember”, Harry answered softly after a while. He looked wary of the thought of getting food as she was going to take that back or put something extra in the food. Galena made a mental note of that. She was going to have a long list of what was wrong with the boy if the long scan she had done was anything to go by. She had already started the basic healing while the boy slept. Harry had been unconscious for two days.

“We are getting you food right away and everything else can wait for a while”, Galena decided determinedly.
