Chapter 3

31th of May 1989

Harry was sitting in a big office waiting for a goblin who would tell him what was going on. He looked around. There wasn’t much to see if he was honest. Two of the walls were full of scrolls and all of the walls were made of stone. The floor was also made out of stone but it was darker. The lightning was dimmer than in the healing ward as he had got to know. The most exciting part of the room was the huge axe on the wall. There were other weapons too but the axe was the coolest and straight out of a movie, which Harry had watched through the small gaps in the cupboard.

When he had mentioned the cupboard like it was nothing, the healer goblin had looked like she wanted to murder someone. Harry didn’t really know why it was a big deal. He wondered what he had done to be here. Then he got a picture of Amyntas telling goblins that he had found the only one left with the blood of the Reynes, and thought it might be because of this.

As if called, the door opened and three goblins and a man walked in holding a lot of similar types of scrolls as in the wall. As soon as Harry noticed them he bowed his head and looked down. He hadn’t taught himself manners for nothing. He still had time to look at them. One of the goblins was clearly above the others in hierarchy.

The last of the goblins turned around and closed the door with a bang. Harry didn’t look up but he flinched slightly from the noise. He tried his best but couldn’t help the small flinch.

All of the others noticed it and looked at each other without Harry noticing. They realised this was going to be a hard conversation. Even without the obvious reaction to abuse.

“Greetings master goblins, may your enemies die by your blade”, the young boy said without a pause. All of the goblins looked surprised by that. They were expecting that the boy didn’t know their customs.

“May your vaults never be empty”, the goblins answered after they got over their surprise. Which wasn’t long.

“What is your name?” asked the oldest goblin, making sure they had the correct boy even though he trusted Galena.

“My name is Harry Potter”, Harry said. He was already well informed of his fame by Galena and he just wanted to see their reaction to his name. They just stared at Harry not knowing should they be relieved or angry that this had happened in the first place.

Harry looked at them nonplussed. He couldn’t read the goblins that well and wasn’t sure what they were thinking. The human man was easy to read. He was relieved but also sad and angry. Harry wasn't sure what the relief was for.

The oldest goblin got himself together and introduced them. “My name is Ragnok and I’m the Goblin King. These are Ironblade and Silverclaw. The last one is Potter lawyer Noah Davis”, he said, pointing to each of them in their turn. So Harry was correct in his observations about the hierarchy.

He looked curiously at the only human. He looked normal and a good person. Harry hadn’t gone wrong once with his intuition when it comes to people. He was proud of that fact. It was really useful, especially for him because he found himself in the strangest situations from time to time. And this time wasn’t any different.

“Well met Mister Davis”, Harry bowed again getting the same greeting back from the said man.

“Let’s sit down”, King Ragnok suggested.

All of them did just that.

“I’m sorry Mister Potter but we need to be totally sure of your identity so we need to do an Inheritance test. We need seven drops of your blood for it”, Ragnok said. Ironblade opened one of the scrolls and put it on the table. It straightened itself. He also took a dark green potion out of his pocket and put it next to the parchment.

Harry unfolded his hands and stretched his right hand in front of him. With his left hand he took the dagger which Ragnok was handing him. “Drop the blood straight into this vial”, Ironblade instructed.

Harry did as was told. Ironblade took the vial and shaked it. It changed its colour from the dark green to clear which showed that it was done correctly. He poured the potion on the parchment. “We have to wait a few minutes”, he said after the whole parchment was soaked in the potions.

While the potion was working, Ragnok ordered tea to be brought for them.

There was a knock on the door and the familiar voice of Galena came from the other side of the door. “Mister Potter needs to take his next group of potions.” Silverclaw stood up and went to open the door. Galena came inside with a tray full of potions, glass of water and light soup.

“You need to eat a little bit of the soup before you can take them”, Galena introduced Harry. The others in the room looked at the tray and went silent. The situation had to be really bad if Harry needed to take that many potions. They were surprised that Galena had even let Harry come to this meeting at all and how the boy was able to even stand and bow at all.

Harry ate as much as he was able of the soup which wasn’t that much. He dutifully took his potions without complaining at all. The only way that the others knew that the potions tasted awful was because they had had to take them before themselves. They didn’t really know what to make of the boy.

After the potions, another goblin came into the room bowing, bringing their tea with him. He put the tray on the table and left the room without talking at all.

When everyone had tea before them, Ragnok looked expectantly at Ironblade. “The test is ready”, Ironblade said at the look after checking with the test. He handed the test to Harry. Harry looked at the test.

The only way the boy showed his surprise for the content was a slight widening of his eyes. Ragnok noticed that the boy wanted to ask questions but was holding himself back for some reason. Then he remembered the abuse and was fuming inside his mind. He thought it would be easier to give him an opening to ask questions. That way he wouldn’t

“If you have any questions about your results just ask them. We don’t expect you to know anything since you are muggle-raised”, Ragnok said to Harry.

Harry took the invite and asked: “What does pending heir mean?”

That wasn’t what they expected the first question to be.

“Pending heir means that you are going to inherit the title if the current Lord doesn’t get children or if they don’t name someone to be their heir”, Ironblade answered.

Harry looked at him and nodded at the information. “Who is Albus Dumbledore?” he asked next.

Silverclaw’s gaze sharpened at the name and said: “He is the current Headmaster of Hogwarts’ school of witchcraft and wizardry.” He had a bad feeling about that name. They had found out about Dumbledore stealing from the Potter vaults when they were checking every one's competence for this case. They didn’t know for sure how deep Dumbledore’s manipulations went but they weren’t optimistic at this point and why would his name be in the Inheritance test if he hadn’t done something to the boy.

Harry looked thoughtful. His face didn’t show much and he had an almost perfect mask but his eyes shone in a way that it made him look like he was plotting someone's murder. It was a little jarring to see that look on someone so young. This boy wasn’t innocent anymore how much they hoped he would be. On the other hand he would be more prepared to be a King who could keep the others in line if he really was the lost King.

“What about a Horcrux? What is that?” he asked next. Nothing could have prepared him for their reactions. The goblins sputtered and looked murderous. Davis looked only confused.

“Horcrux is the vilest thing there is, taking into account also necromancy and its consequences. It is soul magic on its highest. You need to split your soul and place it in a container with a specific ritual. That way when your body is killed you can’t really die. If you get someone to do a ritual for you, you can bring your body back. Horcrux makes you immortal”, Ragnok explained for Harry and Davis, after seeing his confusion.

Harry looked only slightly disgusted but Davis couldn’t hide his disgust even if his life depended on it.

“Mister Potter, are you willing to show your results with us? We have decided that you can’t go back to relatives so we need to plan how to hide it. With the help of other goblins and trusted wizards we can put a case against them. We could also make you appear dead so nobody will look for you. The results would help us decide what would be the best way to act, where you could possibly go and who would be the best guardian for you from now on”, Ragnok said.

Harry gave the parchment to Ragnok who read it and his eyes went wider the lower he read. He gave the test to Silverclaw without saying anything. Silverclaw read and silently handed the test to Ironblade. Ironblade read it and sputtered. This had never happened before and he would have known since he was the one in charge of the inheritances and the tests. The last one who read the test was the Potter lawyer Davis. His face went to chalk white and he almost dropped the test.

Harry looked at their reactions. He knew that they knew already about the chance of him being the Reynes. Their reactions must be because of the titles Master of Death and chosen by Lady Life. Others they would have been able to guess based on his questions. Maybe some of the Lordships were a surprise as well.

Master of Death and chosen by Lady Life were those that had only been confirmation for his suspicion. He had dreamed of them since he could remember. He had only realised that they were real when he found out about magic. He had even dreamed of the snake and now thought that it was Lady Life showing him and making him believe the snake faster about his intentions. And since one of his magic blocks were removed, their presences had become more connected. It wasn’t only dreams anymore. They could show him some pictures now. They also gave him sometimes more information than goblins knew about things that were about him. But those were only random words and those didn't always make sense for him.

The first time they had told him some things he was scared that he had finally gone mad. They explained how he could hear them when they needed him to know something relevant. Lady Life could give him information of those who were living and Lord Death had all the information of those who were dead and their life. They also told him that they couldn’t intervene too much and he had to still make his own decisions. But they were the reason Harry knew how to greet goblins the right way and knew what some of the families were in the Inheritance test and how they connected to him.

After everyone got a grip of their shock, Ragnok said: “You are powerful, Heir Potter. We have a plan but we need your help and input with it. This information is more than enough.” “If you would tell him what we have planned, Mister Davis.”

“Sure”, Davis said. “We thought you needed to disappear and this test supports our thoughts. You are too young and powerful to stay with your relatives. I have no idea why Dumbledore put you there in the first place. We have a suspicion that he wanted you to do something for him or he just wanted your money and estates. And looking at your results, this could be the main reason. You are the wealthiest wizard alive and probably more wealthy than anyone has ever been. Nobody, not even goblins, knows what and how much is in the one vault of the Reynes in Gringotts.”

“That disappearing would happen with the help of a golem. Golem is a body that is made by your blood and magic. It would look just like you and when it dies, every way that wizards can prove their death ones, it would show up as Harry Potter. When “Harry Potter” dies you could live your life separately from him. That way people wouldn’t use you for being Harry Potter”, Davis continued.

“We could create a new identity for you with the help of Magic and you could go to school normally. If you don’t want to go to school with others since you need to learn what it is to rule the Magical World, there is always a chance for homeschooling”, Silverclaw said.

Harry thought for a while and came to a conclusion. “I want that golem thing but I also want to go to normal school. That way I have the chance to learn how normal people think and act in normal situations. I’m still too young to become a King so I need to get everything ready when the time comes to rule. I also need to learn so much before I am ready to do anything publicly as a Reynes.”

“Next thing on our list are your Lordships. We have to think about how we are going around them. People will know when you turn seventeen if you have them even though you would be the King then”, Ragnok said.

“We could move everything from the vaults and the estates to a different name. That way you could take them now and then you have the power to move them to another name. You could get everything you want from every family you are already Lord to”, Ironblade announced.

“What about when the golem dies but real Harry Potter has the Lordships? The Lordship won’t go dormant that way”, Mister Davis inquired.

“Harry could renounce the Lordship when he has done everything he needs to do. That way it would go dormant since Harry is the last of the Potter line. And Gryffindor is based on Magic alone so nobody would know it would have been Potter’s. As for the Peverell. There aren’t more descendants for that Lordship but since Mister Potter is Master of Death it goes with that title. Only those with abilities for necromancy and Master of Death would be able to take that title so nobody could get it anyway. And we don’t have to worry about the Slytherin and Black at all since Mister Potter is only Heir for those”, Ironblade explained.

“Oh. That’s handy”, Mister Davis said while thinking over the information. “So Mister Potter takes the Lordships and makes the necessary actions and renounces only the Potter Lordship”, he summarised.

“Exactly”, said Ironblade. “He wouldn’t need them anyway but they balance his magic and since he is so powerful that Gryffindor Lordship has accepted him it is necessary that he keeps the other two.”

“There are also other ways to balance a person's magic”, said Ragnok. “And we are going to teach them to Mister Potter while teaching him other things.”

“It wouldn’t be good to go mad because of his magic. Especially because he will be in the position of power”, Silverclaw agreed while making notes.

“Next would be the horcrux”, said Ragnok. “Since it was made by Tom Riddle who also went by the name Voldemort.” At that point Davis sputtered but Ragnok continued like nothing had happened: “It means that he is still alive somewhere and it makes me question how many of those vile things he made since his soul was already so scattered that he made Mister Potter one by accident as he died that night and Harry isn’t dead.”

“We have a way to move the horcrux out of Mister Potter and with that we can track the others he made”, Silverclaw interrupted, noticing the worried look on Mister Davis’ face. Silverclaw still didn’t notice any worry on Potter’s face. He couldn’t understand how the boy could be so calm and indifferent in this situation.

“What about guardianship?” Davis asked.

“It would have gone to Sirius Black since he is Harry’s godfather but since was imprisoned, which I’m now thinking has been a wrong one since he named Harry his Heir and has blood adopted him making him Harry’s father as much as James, it went to next one in line”, Ironblade said.

“But who was the next in line?” asked Davis. “I knew Lily, and she would have never let Harry go to Petunia and her husband.”

“It would be in their wills”, answered Ragnok. “Go fetch them”, he said to Ironblade.

While Ironblade was gone, Harry thought everything through. It wasn’t his habit to rush things.

“Where are you going to place the golem?” Harry asked. “You can’t place it back to Dursleys since they won’t do anything about it.”

“We thought we could memory charm the Dursleys’ to make them think they dropped you somewhere after the beating and place the golem near that place or something like that. We can make it look like you would have been dead longer than the time when we cut the magic out of the golem, making it appear dead. We haven't decided on the place yet. What do you think of this plan?” Silverclaw asked.

“That sounds reasonable. What about them now? Could they have reported me not being there anymore?” Harry asked next.

“We made them not be able to talk about it and that they appear normal so nobody will report them for anything yet. And we noticed you had a squib neighbour and thought that was suspicious and made her not to notice anything different than normally happened until we were sure about you”, Silverclaw said to that

-

Ironblade came back to the room with a loud bang and fuming face.

“The wills were never read! Dumbledore sealed them before they were read! Gornuk should be happy he is already dead or he wouldn't know what had hit him!” he raged, as he placed the will on the table.

Everyone, even Harry, was fuming at that information.

“Harry needs to take his Potter Lordship and then he can authorise them to be opened”, Ragnok said as calmly as he could.

Silverclaw stood up and said something in Gobbledegook to a silver stone. Soon there was an answer and Silverclaw sat back down.

They sat in silence. Others fuming more than others. After a while there was a knock on the door.

“Get in!” Silverclaw shouted.

The door opened and there was a younger goblin holding a tray with three boxes on it. He came inside and put the tray on the table. Then he introduced himself while bowing: “Greetings! My name is Griphook and I’m the new Potter manager.”

Harry looked at him curiously while Ragnok told him to take a seat and stay. He was obviously younger but he looked professional and like he knew what he was doing.

“Here are your Lordship rings”, Ironblade said to Harry.

Harry opened the first box and there sat a red ruby ring with antlers of a stag. It was the Potter ring. He put it on his right ring finger as instructed and Harry was filled with a warm feeling of home. The ring resized to fit him and flashed a red light as doing so.

The next ring was a dark blue stone that was almost black. It had a mark on it which was a triangle with a circle inside it and a line crossed them both. When he put it on, it felt the same but stronger than the presence of death in his dreams and mind.

The third and last one was also red but different from the Potter one. It was darker and was more like the colour of blood. He heard a lion and got a warm feeling like fire going through his veins, when he put it on. When the last one was resized, the rings melted as one.

Harry felt way better than before.

While Harry was accepting the rings, Ragnok and Silverclaw brought Griphook fast up to speed with what they had planned and what they were currently doing.
