Chapter 1
Harry Potter was never a morning person, much to his disspleasure however, Sirius was. Harry woke up to a large black rottweiler dog standing on the foot of his bed and doing those little tippy-taps that dogs do. "dadddd," Harry threw his pillow at the dog and rolled over. "go'way, five more minutes." The dog jumped off of Harry's bed and his godfather now stood in the same spot that the dog had just been a moment ago. "Not today little buddy. We have a lot of stuff to do and we can't afford to lose time to your sleep schedule." Sirius tossed Harry's pillow back at him and ruffled his hair. "Now get up. We're meeting up with Ron an Hermione at Diagon Alley in an hour." Harry groaned and sat up in bed, his curly hair sticking up in every direction and his eyes puffy and tired-looking. "Fine, fine, fine, i'm up." Harry got up off of his bed and made it up, a reflexive routine he learned from living with the dursleys, and went downstairs.
"Ah, look who's up, i thought Sirius'd never get you out of bed. Damn it Hazza, now i owe him five galleons." Remus was sitting at the dinning table sipping his coffee out of a mug that is one of the two that Remus and Sirius bought that together read "If found please return to Dumbass" (sirius's) and "Hi, i'm Dumbass." (remus's). "Sorry, i think." Harry said, sitting down across from Remus and picking up a piece of toast. "Moony, will you pass the jam?" Remus handed Harry the Jar and turned his attention back to the muggle newspaper sitting on his lap, just then a large barn owl swooped down through the front window and dropped a thick, square, yellow envelope into Harry's lap, and a few pieces of white junk-mail into the laps of Remus and Sirius (who was trying, and failing, to convince Remus to give him a foot-rub). Harry picked up the envelope, adressed to Mr H. Potter, Black Manor, 12 Grimuald Place, Third Floor, Second door to the left, and opened it. "School letter's here." He said as he pulled the small peices of paper inside the envelope out and read them aloud.
Dear Mr Potter. We are pleased to inform you that you have been accepted at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. Please find an enclosed list of all necessary books and equipment. Term begins on 1 September. We await your owl by no later than 31 July. Please see the enclosed list of required books. -Deputy Head Mistress Minerva McGonagall
Harry emptied the rest of the contents onto the table and picked up the next letter.
Third year students will require: The standard book of spells Grade 3 by Miranda Goshawk Unfogging the Future by Casandra Vablatsky Intermediate Transfiguration by Emeric Switch The Monster Book of Monsters Spellman's Syllabary The Essential Deffense Against the Dark Arts by Arsenius Jigger
Harry placed the letters on the dinning table and took a bite of his toast. "So, do we go shopping today? Or next week?"
Remus, who had always been the voice of reason in the household, put the junk-mail he was sifting through on the table and took his glasses off. "Well, seeing as we're meeting Ron and Hermione in Diagon Alley today for ice-cream and prank supplies today, it would make the most sense to go today and get everything out of the way now so that we have time to hang out and spend quality time with Ron and Hermione this summer instead of stressing over the supplies, and the shopping, and such."
Sirius groaned and rolled his eyes. "Remus, love, moons, hon, i love you, but use smaller words, m'kay? It's too damn early for this, m'kay?"
Remus chuckled at this and kissed Sirius's forehead. "fine, small words, got it."
Harry stuck his tounge out in mock disgust. "Merlin's beard, you two are gross."
Remus and Sirius both laughed as Remus began washing the dishes from supper the previous night. "Harry, will you go do your chores now so that i dont have to hear you bitch and whine later about it."
Harry sighed and stood up out of his chair, stretching. "Fine, uh, what day is it?"
"Its Thursday, Haz." Sirius said, turning to look at harry.
Harry started towards the small chart on the side of the fridge and pusshed his glasses up on his nose. "Hmm. Okay, so i just have to mow the lawn, sweep and mop the kitchen, and clean my bathroom, that's not so bad." Harry turned away from the fridge and went upstairs to his room, getting dressed in his "outdoor clothes", and went out to the tool shed in the front yard and getting out the push-mower.
A little while later, after Harry had cleaned his bathroom and mowed the lawn, he went into the kitchen to get a glass of water. "Uhh, Dad? Moons? Why do the both of you look so serious?"
Remus sighed and turned to Harry. "Harry, sit down please."
Shit, harry thought, shit shit shit. what had he done? was he in trouble? why were they being so weird? shit shit shit. "o..kay?" Harry sat down at the island in the kitchen. "Whats wrong?"
Remus sat down across from him with a stern expression. "Harry. You know i'm a werewolf, correct?"
Harry sighed in relief. "Yeah, i know, why?"
Remus smiled lightly. "And you are aware that the Deffense Against the Dark Arts position ar Hogwarts is vacant, correct?"
Harry looked confused still but nodded nonetheless. "Yeah?"
Remus folded his hands in front of him on the table. "I will be taking up that position this year." Harry's eyes lit up with excitement, this was great, this way Remus could keep Proffesor Snape off of his back.
Sirius, however, just huffed and crossed his arms. "Whats wrong, dad?" Harry asked, still giddy with excitement.
Remus chuckled and nodded towards Sirius. "Nothing, he's just mad that he'll be all alone for a couple weeks." Remus stood up and wrapped his arms around Sirius's waist. "Love, you do know we're coming home for Christmas, Halloween, and Easter holidays, right?"
Sirius flushed slightly but continued pouting. "I know, but I'll be all aloneeee!" Sirius whined. "Merlins beard, I already told you that Regulus will be coming to stay with you for the school year." Remus stated matter-of-factly.
