Remus hasn’t watched any of Sirius’s performances, and Sirius has noticed. He was a little disappointed when he didn’t see him during the first show but just figured he was tired after playing such a big crowd. But when he didn’t show up in the VIP tent for any of the other shows Sirius started to get annoyed, it’s not fair that Remus gets to skip his set every night while he sings song after song about him while Sirius has to listen to Remus go on and on about him every show.
This is why when Remus suddenly appears in the VIP tent during his set Sirius is over the moon. He makes sure he really gives him a show he won’t forget just incase he doesn’t show up at any others. He glances over at Remus multiple times to try and gauge how he feels about certain songs, but every time he just has a look on his face that conveys nothing.
The show went amazingly well but he couldn’t care less because all he cares about is Remus, Remus who is staring directly into his eyes while he walks offstage.

Remus can’t stop writing.
He hasn’t written a song this quickly in a while but from the looks of his notebook he’s going to have a fully written song by the end of the hour.
Watching Sirius on stage, looking like a Greek god, singing songs about Remus while staring right at him had been too much for Remus. As soon as Sirius was offstage he sprinted from the tent and made his way to the bus where he sat down on his bed and started writing and hasn’t stopped since.
Something in him snapped that night and he doesn’t think it’ll mend and he doesn’t really want it to anyway.
He quickly makes a chord progression to go along with the lyrics and then suddenly bam his song was done, fully written and being sent to Marlene for her approval which he is given overwhelmingly.

Marls: Remmmmy this is amazing
Marls: when did you write this???
Remus: just now lol
Remus: also don’t call me remmy
Marls: :((( whyyy not
Remus: because it is a terrible nickname
Marls: fine I’ll just find you a different better nickname
Remus: what is it with people’s obsession with giving me a nickname
Marls: idk you just give off nickname energy
Remus sets his phone facedown on his bunk and passes out into a dreamless sleep.
^^^^^^^
The next morning
“So what do you think?” Remus sets down his guitar while waiting for a response.
A pause before “Remus that was amazing, do you think we can get you in a studio when you are done with this week’s shows?” Dorcas asks excitedly.
“Yes, yes of course, but I was wondering if it’s ok if I perform it acoustically at the show tonight?” He crosses his fingers that he can, it was the whole point of the song.
“Yeah that’s perfectly fine. I’ve got to go jump in another call but talk soon ok.” She hangs up before he can say goodbye leaving him sitting on the floor of the tour bus with just his phone and guitar.
He gets ready for the show in record time that night, having finally figured out a routine for pre-show, meaning he gets a ton of time to practice the song and talk with Mary. Apparently she has been seeing this girl for about a month now and things seem like they could get serious but she isn’t sure if that’s what she wants. It’s nice to talk about something so normal for once and not about recording, writing, and performing. It’s nice to pretend he wasn’t semi famous.
He gets ushered onto stage eventually forcing him and Mary to end their conversation early. The set goes well as always and the fans adore him which he always thinks would not be their reaction if they knew who he was in relation to Sirius but they don’t so they cheer for him every night.
Right at the end of the set when he’d usually start to pack it up and says his goodbyes he calls a stage hand to bring him a stool and his guitar. The audience goes wild once they realize something new is happening.
“So I was thinking I might close out this show a bit differently than I have the others with a brand new song that I wrote last night. Would you like to hear it?” He strums his guitar lightly whirl the crowd screams in excitement. He chuckles “Ok then, this is Stick Season.” He strums his guitar and begins the song.
“As you promised me that I was more than all the miles combined
You must have had yourself a change of heart like
Halfway through the drive”
He blocks out the noise of the audience and instead locks in on the face of one man, Sirius.
'”Cause your voice trailed off exactly as you passed my exit sign
Kept on drivin' straight and left our future to the right“
He can see his reaction from where he is on stage and it mostly just seems to be shock, which Remus can’t really blame him for it was rather unexpected. He keeps on singing while staring into his eyes refusing to be the one to break eye contact. He rushes right into the chorus, one of his favorites he’s ever written
“And I love Vermont, but it's the season of the sticks
And I saw your mom, she forgot that I existed
And it's half my fault, but I just like to play the victim
I'll drink alcohol 'til my friends come home for Christmas
And I'll dream each night of some version of you
That I might not have, but I did not lose
Now you're tire tracks and one pair of shoes
And I'm split in half, but that'll have to do”
He continues the song and doesn’t break eye contact until the moment he is thanking the fans and walking offstage. He skipped Sirius’s set that night.
