Reunion

Remus went back home the next day but ended up returning to the studio only a week later. Marlene and Remus worked on a few other songs that Remus had written and really liked and they were also able to mix the final version of Now That We Don’t Talk. With the way things are going, Remus thinks they can finish the album within a month considering how many finished songs he has and how quickly he and Marlene can finish a song.

For his first album, Remus and Marlene decided it was best to make it very short as to not overwhelm Remus, which they both agree would not be good.

Remus decided to rent an air bnb for the time he is in the city after spending three days in a rundown motel a couple miles away from the studio and his final straw that got him to leave was when he woke up to a mouse scuttling across the floor on the third morning.

He chose, with the help of Marlene, a small apartment only a couple blocks away from the studio that he could easily walk to and from the studio. It also meant he could come over to the the studio more often and for longer, which was good at first until one morning Remus was rushing in and accidentally dumped coffee on the one person he really didn’t want to see.

Sirius was having a bad morning. His alarm didn’t go off and he woke up thirty minutes late. The man he had brought home the night before had left during the night which was probably for the best because waking up next to the man who had almost the same curly sandy hair as Remus would have shattered his heart and made his morning worse. He had run out of coffee the day before and forgot to buy more so he was going to have to settle for a cup of overpriced coffee from a local cafe. He threw on the same clothes he was wearing the day before and dashed out the door with only his keys and phone, heading towards the studio.

He does not end up getting his overpriced cup of coffee because the line at the cafe was way to long for him to wait in if he wanted to get to the studio on time for his session with Marlene.

When he finally makes it to the studio he is exhausted and extremely annoyed Abend not looking forward to another day of singing songs with the wrong pronouns because teenage him hadn’t looked at the contract enough. So when someone walks into him from behind and spills coffee all down his back he is done holding everything he feels back, and prepares to let all of his anger out at this person even though he knows deep down they don’t deserve it.

But when he turns around he is not met with the eyes of a stranger but the amber eyes of the only man he has ever loved. “Remus” Sirius breathes out so quietly he’s not sure if he heard him, but judging by the way Remus looks like he’s seen a ghost he’s guessing he did. “How are you?”

Remus had been having a good morning, his alarm went off on time so he was able to go to his new favorite coffee shop near the studio and grab coffee for him and Marlene. He was able to take a nice walk to the studio and walked in right on time, but there was another man standing in the lobby that he hadn’t seen and Remus walked straight into him and spilled coffee all down his back.

Remus starts preparing an apology for the man until the second the man turns around anf he is met with Sirius Black’s face only inches away from his. Remus starts trying to come up with an escape when he hears his name on those lips and he is rooted to the ground keeping him from leaving the even if he wanted to, which he really really wanted to do.

Remus thinks he hears Sirius ask him how he is but he’s not sure because he is caught up in the fact that Sirius is here and he was about to go and record a song about him. He tries to get any words out but his mouth is dry like sandpaper and his throat feel like it has closed up, stopping any chances of speaking in its tracks.

So Remus does what any perfectly respectful adult would do, run away into Marlene’s studio. When he locks the door to the studio behind himself and slowly slides down to the floor she stares at him in silence until he makes it to the ground and puts his head in hands and rethinks every choice he has ever made.

“So are you going to tell me what caused this or are you just going to sit there?” Marlene eventually asks.

Remus lifts his head out of his hands “I ran into my ex-boyfriend in the lobby, the one I write all of my songs about.I also accidentally spilled my coffee on him.” He puts his head back into his hands as soon as he finishes getting the words out.

“How did he find you, you signing with us isn’t supposed to go public until we finish the album?” She rages.

This is the difficult part for Remus to say because it’s not going to be very pretty when she puts two and two together “He didn’t find me. He was in the lobby because he works here.” His words were slightly muffled since he kept his head down but he knows Marlene heard him clearly enough.

“I’m going out there and telling him to leave.” Marlene says and doesn’t give Remus a chance to stop her because she was already out of the door. She walks back in thirty seconds later looking confused. “The only person out there is Sirius Black, my next client.”

“You saw him then.” Remus says

Marlene looks even more confused when she says “No I didn’t, I only saw Sirius unless… no Remus you are not telling me that Sirius Black is your ex boyfriend!” She exclaims.

“I am telling you that.”

They stand in silence for a minute, Remus waiting for her to break the silence. “Well that complicates things doesn’t it?” Marlene eventually says.

Remus flops into Marlene’s chair with a sigh “It most definitely does.”
