Chapter 1
“Come on, Remus, it’s a really good song and your vocals sound amazing in the video. You should post it!” Lily exclaims. “Regulus, back me up.” She looks over to the younger boy, who is sitting over on the other side of Remus’s bedroom, and Remus follows her gaze over to him. The younger boy has clearly not been paying attention to their conversation, because when he looks up from his book at them he looks very confused.
“Remus you should do whatever Lily is telling you to do.” Regulus says slowly, looking back and forth between the two.
“You don’t even know what we’re talking about!” Remus yells exasperated. It had all started when Remus showed Lily a video he had a recorded of himself singing a new song he had written. He was really proud of the song and wanted to share it with Lily because he knew how much she loved his songs. He should have know that it would have ended with this argument again. Every time he shows her a video of a song, she tells him to post it on YouTube because apparently he is holding out on the world by not sharing his music.
He has already explained to her many times that he doesn’t want fame or fortune or to change as a person because he shared his music, he doesn’t want to lose himself over it like Sirius did.
Ever since his ex boyfriend, Sirius, had his music blew up and he changed as a person Remus vowed to himself that he would not let that happen to himself. So he hadn’t shared his music with anyone that wasn’t Lily, Regulus, or his mom Hope in years.
“This is about you sharing that new song of yours isn’t it?” Regulus asks. Remus shakes his head in answer. “Then I stand by my former statement, it’s a good song.” He concludes and then goes back to his book, that is actually Remus’s book that he borrowed five months ago but then never returned. Remus will have to make sure he takes it back before they leave his house today.
Lily flops up and over next to him on the bed, taking a break from sitting on the ground where she had been studying for her finals that are next month. “Please Remus, just because you share your music with the world doesn’t mean you will end up like him. Think about it, ok?” She says softly, leaning against him.
Remus sighs, he knows she’s right and that the chances of him going viral like Sirius did are unlikely, but the fear of that happening to him is still there. “Ok Lily, I’ll think about it.” He says with a small smile on his face.
Her entire face lights up with joy and she goes to put on one of Remus’s Hozier records.
The rest of the afternoon passes quietly, with Regulus reading and Lily studying. Remus tries to get some work for his classes done, but his head keeps going back to Lily’s words. He won’t be like Sirius, he won’t change.
He repeats that to himself as he opens the YouTube app on his phone and creates an account. He repeats it again while he writes a caption. He says it one final time when he presses the upload button on the screen and then slams his phone down on his bed loudly, causing both Lily and Regulus to look at him.
“I did it, I posted the video.” He says und this breath. The two immediately spring out of their seats and onto the bed asking him a bunch of questions and finding and following his channel.
After a while of talking about it, Remus asks them if they can talk about something else instead so they steer the conversation over to the book Regulus is reading and Remus is extremely grateful that they didn’t refuse and not change the topic.
A couple hours later finds the three of them tucked in to sleep, in various spaces in his room. Lily in the bed, Regulus in the chair, and Remus on his large windowsill, staring out at the sky as he falls into a wonderfully dreamless sleep.

“Remus, Remus get up!” Lily shoves Remus’s sleeping form. He mumbles and is met with bright red hair in his face and Lily freaking out above him.
“What is it? Is my mom ok?” He asks worriedly as he rubs the sleep out of his eyes.
“No, no nothing like that but Remus you have to check your YouTube.” Lily says hurriedly.
Remus’s heart sinks to the bottom of his stomach. No, oh no not this he thinks as he scrambles to unlock his phone and log into YouTube. He takes a deep breath when he clicks onto his account and then nearly stops breathing when he sees that he has amassed ten thousand followers and his video has over a million likes. How he wonders, it’s been less than twenty four hours and he was sure that his video was not going to get more than fifty views.
He quickly starts to scroll through the comment section to see what the general reaction to the song is, and he is horrified by some of the overtly sexual comments he finds within only seconds of looking. He keeps looking through and finds that the reaction is actually really positive and a lot of people want him to put it on streaming.
“Lily,” He whispers, “I’ve gone viral.”
