Dorcas Meadowes

Remus spent the next two days freaking the fuck out. Everything he wanted to not happen, happened.

The video continues to wrack up views and as of the last time he checked it was at 2.5 million likes. His channel now also has 25 thousand subscribers. He didn’t even know he could get that many likes that quickly, but apparently he can.

He’s spent his time hidden in his room, only allowing Lily and Regulus in. Lily has been trying to reassure him that this can be a good thing and that he won’t end up like Sirius, but Remus doubts it. It’s eerily similar to what happened with Sirius.

On the third day after he posted the video he decides to post another video. He sings a song that he wrote when he started to feel like his and Sirius’s relationship was falling apart, called Dancing with our Hands Tied. He posted it mostly to see if the first video was a fluke and could just go on with his life. Unfortunately it was apparently not a fluke because the video gets 15 thousand likes within 24 hours.

Regulus has actually been surprisingly helpful with keeping him from going catatonic. He tells him all about the book he is currently reading, and is keeping some sort of normalcy in his life while everything around him is changing.

Currently, Remus is sitting on his bed reading through the comments on the video he had posted a few hours ago that has already gained 25 thousand views. Most of the comments are from both men and women thirsting over him in ways that make him feel extremely uncomfortable, but hidden under those comments are ones that are from people saying the love his music and want him to get a record deal.

He hadn’t thought about recording a record in years, not since he was a teenager in love. But with everything going on, he’s started to rethink his thoughts about sharing his music with the masses. He already has started to and found, to his surprise, that he actually likes sharing his music with people that really care about the music. If Remus a week ago saw him now he would slap him, and Remus wouldn’t even blame him for it.

Three weeks after he posted the video, Remus gets an email from a woman named Dorcas Meadows asking if she can set up a meeting with him about his music. He considered just ignoring like he had with most emails he was getting now, most of them were just beauty brands wanting to partner with him for some reason.

He has his thumb hovering over the trash button when he sees at the bottom the email that it says it’s from Eclipse Records, also known as the record he dreamed of signing with when he was a teenager.

He immediately clicks out of email and texts Lily and Regulus.

Ten minutes later Lily and Regulus are barging into his room, whipping the door open so fast it almost falls off its hinges.

Lily sits down on his bed first “Remus John Lupin, you are going to tell us everything right now.” She says as she places her tote bag on the ground. Regulus curls up in his chair like usual but this time he has his full attention on Remus.

Remus quickly launches into his explanation of what has happened and his internal crisis about it.

“Remus you should set up a meeting with them, you don’t have to agree to sign with them but you should still go to the meeting. You’ve dreamed about signing with them since you were fifteen, you should at least do it for teenage you whose dream was to sign with them.“ Lily reasons after she has contemplated everything he has said.

“I have to agree with Lily, Remus, don’t be an idiot, go to the meeting and see what they want.” Regulus pipes up from his seat on the chair.

Remus groans “You are both right and I know it, but I’m so anxious about it. I haven’t even considered a career in the music industry since I was 17 and now it might become a reality and all of my emotions are mixed up.” He flops facedown down into his comforter.

Lily pats him on the back, “Do you want us to write it for you?” She tentatively asks.

Remus stays silent for a moment trying to decide if he’s that pathetic that he needs his friends to write the email for him, before he decides that he is, “Yes, please” He says into the comforter, unable to bring himself to meet their gazes.

Fifteen minutes later, Remus has his phone in his hand, with an email written entirely by Regulus and Lily with almost no help from Remus himself, besides random input he gave her and there.

“Do you want me to send it for you?” Lily offers.

Remus thinks about letting her send it for him for a moment, but that feels too pathetic. “No, I have to do it myself.”

They all sit in silence, waiting for Remus to send it, for approximately three more no before Remus clicks the button and then throws his phone across his room.

Lily, and surprisingly also Regulus, give him a hug before Remus kicks them out stating that he needs some time alone.

He lays down in his bed for awhile before deciding to distract himself by recording a video of him singing his song Picture to Burn, a country song he wrote after the breakup when he was feeling particularly angsty. He uploads the video and then paces his room, back and forth again and again and again.

He ends up reading a book he had been meaning to read for a while but hadn’t had the time to. He eats a peacefully quiet dinner with his mom, grateful that at least something hasn’t changed.

It’s 9 p.m. when his phone lights up with an email notification, he puts down his book and scrambles across his bed to his phone. He clicks open email and stares at the reply to his email, sent by Dorcas Meadows, saying that two days from now works for them if it works for him.

He doesn’t even have to think before responding yes to this email.
