Harry was having an interesting day.
Scratch that.
Harry was having a fucking awful day.
When he started this morning, everything was normal. He woke up and had a lovely cup of tea. He greeted some of the habitants of the part of the underworld he worked in. Hell, he even played a lovely game of fetch with Cerberus before he went in to work for the day. When he got into his office, the paperwork he had to fill in for passing souls was average. Everything was fine.
And then dozens of frantic souls started showing up. All from the same fucking city. It was chaos.
Dozens of people of various ages were screaming, crying, and yelling. Harry and some of the other ghosts and creatures that worked with him were running around trying to calm people down and figure out what in Merlin’s name was going on. Finally, he found one of the souls willing to talk.
“It was horrible!” an older lady sobbed. “There was a hole in the sky! And things were coming out of it!”
“It was aliens,” another person, a teenager this time, added. “The hole opened right up into space and they were pouring out! It was a real life alien invasion!” Harry glanced around at the small group that had accumulated around him.
“Does anyone know what caused it to open?” A man stepped forward hesitantly.
“I heard some folks say it was one of them Norse gods. Loki, I think.” Harry closed his eyes and pinched the bridge of his nose, sighing.
“Fucking Asguardians.”
Thanking them, he waved over one of the ghosts trying to organize people into lines so that they could deal with what was happening easier. Once he was confident that everything was handled, he walked over to a free space.
“Death?” A dark hooded figure appeared in front of him and gave a small bow.
“Yes, Master? How can I be of assistance?” Harry looked at everything around him and then back at Death.
“Can you start dealing with everything down here? I have a certain god that I need to go have a conversation with.” Death bowed again and went towards someone who seemed to be directing everyone else. With that dealt with, Harry turned on his heel and apparated to the center of everything.
It was chaos.
Aliens were flooding out of a giant hole in the sky, tearing up everything and everyone that got in their way. People were screaming and running around everywhere. The ground was an absolute slaughterhouse.
This was going to be so much paperwork.
As Harry started making his way towards the tower that the portal was situated on top of, he noticed something big fly towards the open hole. Was that a missile? He squinted his eyes a little and noticed that not only was it a missile, but something was driving it into space.
What the fuck.
He saw the light of the explosion through the portal as the missile hit whatever was on the other side, and noticed that the portal started closing as something fell back out. As soon as the portal fully closed, the remaining aliens all dropped down as though their connection was interrupted.
Ok.
That made Harry’s life a bit easier.
Now that that whole situation was taken care of, he started scanning around trying to locate the god he came here for. It took him a while, as his magic signature was everywhere. But finally, he managed to trace him back to the top of the tower. Apparating once more, he landed behind a group of people in weird outfits. He ignored them though, in favour of the two gods.
“Why is it,” he started, voice like ice, “That when there is mass destruction, it always traces back to you Asguardians?” The group wheeled around, eyes wide. Once Thor and Loki saw him, however, they scrambled backwards.
“Death’s Master.” Thor breathed. Loki tried to hid behind him.
“I am waiting for an explanation as to what in all things holy is going on.” Immediately Thor pointed at Loki, who cowered further.
“It was his fault.” Loki glared daggers at him, trying to back up further.
“Loki. You are going to come with me and explain why the fuck you thought it would be a good idea to conquer earth with aliens and cause as much destruction as you did.” Loki raised his hands.
“It is all a misunderstanding-”
“A misunderstanding?” Harry narrowed his eyes further. “Your “misunderstanding” has caused so much paperwork that it’s going to take days to get through!” He marched forward. Thor all but threw Loki at him in attempts to get out of the way of a very pissed off Master of Death. Harry grabbed Loki’s arm. “Now you get to help me, considering it’s all your fault.” He dragged him back, and then looked at Thor, who shrunk in on himself. “Tell Odin that Loki is serving punishment with me.” He paused again. “You better watch yourself, Thor Odinson, because if another Asguardian steps so much as a toe out of line then Odin will be answering to me.”
And with that, Harry apparated a final time back to the underworld with Loki in tow, leaving a group of very confused avengers and an incredibly scared Thor behind.
