Getting ready
Newt said "no you are not maybe tonight but not now"
Grindelwald pouted and said "even if I apologize?"
Newt looked at him unimpressed
Grindelwald got up and dressed not bothering to change in the bathroom liking the way his newt's eyes wandered even if my little angel does not realize it just yet
Newt said "you should probably change in the bathroom"
Grindelwald said "or you could just turn the other way if you don't like what you see?" Teasingly
Newt said "I like what I see a little more than I probably should"
Grindelwald pulled newt to him and said good before softly kissing newt before pulling away
Newt said "that was nice I wouldn't mind doing more of that in the future"
Grindelwald said "just tell me darling, we are doing this at your pace. I figured since you kissed me I could return the favor unless you told me otherwise"
Newt said "kissing gets a go ahead from me, we can branch out from there slowly" shifting a little as he fidgeted with his sleeve
Newt and Grindelwald go into the briefcase and meet Antonio who won't get off of Grindelwald shoulder
Newt said "I'm sorry I don't know what has gotten into him"
Grindelwald said "it is fine liebling. I think it is the start of a familiar bond"
Newt said "that would make sense"
Grindelwald said "I really like him can he come with me today?"
Newt said "yes, just remember to feed him warm meat only cold upsets his stomach"
Grindelwald said "I will liebling"
A few hours later newt has finished the stew and rolls and has them on a low heat to keep them hot and started on desert a carrot cake cheesecake with cream cheese frosting and checked on Cassie
Grindelwald came down a little bit later and said "i remember someone saying something about a dinner surprise for me tonight"
Newt said "yep it's on the table"
Grindelwald kissed newt and said "it looks amazing liebling"
Newt blushed and said "thank you I hope you like it"
A little later they finished eating
Grindelwald said "I can see why that is your favorite food perhaps next time a Carmel drizzle to go on it, the stew was amazing liebling seriously I would try to eat my weight in it if I had the stomach room the rolls are to die for warm buttery and fluffy"
Newt said "I'm glad you liked although you should probably be in a food induced coma right now"
Grindelwald said "I do feel like a bear about to hibernate"
Newt said "I wonder why"
Grindelwald said "it was probably the third bowl of stew or the fifth roll that did it"
Newt said "and you are sure it wasn't the second slice of dessert?"
Grindelwald said "yes"
Newt laughed and said "let's go lay down before you blow up"
Grindelwald said "that sounds nice"
Newt said "my feet are cold"
Grindelwald said "thank you for warning me about your little ice cubes"
Newt said "well yesterday you jumped when my foot touched you"
Grindelwald said "yes your icecube feet touched my warm leg I jump"
Newt laughed and said "I'll wrap them in a blanket tonight so they don't bother you"
They get into bed and cuddle and Antonio jumped on newt's feet trying to warm them
Grindelwald said "how can your feet get so cold and not be frostbitten"
Newt said "I don't know"
Grindelwald said "and they are immune to warming charms"
Newt said "evidently"
They chatted some more before falling asleep
The next day
newt got a letter from his brother inviting him to Leta's birthday party in a few days and Theseus said if I didn't bring a plus one then Theseus would set me up with a nice female auror named Audrey for the night
Newt decided he would try to get out of it before the party so no issues would occur
Newt rescued the animals from the Russian operation and had no problems they never knew he was there,newt even managed to grab some of their file's so he has a new list of people to investigate as buyers and sellers
Newt did share copies of the files with Jack who is still yelling in his office about me going in without a solid plan, perhaps next time I will invite him and see how his plan works or if the chaos theory works against him
Newt goes down into the briefcase and gets to work skipping lunch again he finished patching them up,feeding them and placing them in habitat's just before dinner so he decided to shower before dinner to get the grime off
Newt goes down to dinner a few minutes later
Grindelwald said "you missed lunch liebling"
Newt said "I was a little busy, sorry"
Grindelwald said "please try to remember to eat something when you are working if you skip lunch"
Newt said "I shared a apple with occamy who dislikes insects"
Grindelwald said "that doesn't really count, where did you get the scratch on your arm?"
Newt said "when I was removing a chain from a wumpus cat it didn't appreciate the noise, it will be fully healed here in a hour or so I just forgot to take a healing potion until I was done working"
Grindelwald said "be more careful liebling"
Jack said "I don't know why yet but the British aurors are in a tizzy I think they are planning something boss"
Newt said "it's probably just Leta's birthday party stressing them! Theseus fiancee leta has a birthday in a few days. the whole ministry and all the aurors are invited along with their family, to slight her is to slight the head of the British aurors Theseus so everyone always freak's out about the perfect gift and getting a date, it doesn't help Theseus is making a big deal about it being her 25th birthday and everything having to be perfect"
Jack said "how do you know all that?"
Newt said "Theseus is my older brother. so I have been to a few of his parties and know how much everyone stresses, also I was invited but plan on skipping and just getting them a vacation as a gift to make up for it, if I go I'll just give her the necklace I got last year for rescuing a little girl from some centaurs who planned to kill her to keep intruder's out"
Jack said "that would be a perfect information gathering mission"
Newt said "no I'm not spying on my brother" there was some lines he would not cross and betraying family was one of them
Jack said "they said you could take a plus one right?"
Newt said "yes, if I don't some auror named Audrey will act the part"
Grindelwald said "what are you thinking jack?"
Jack said "newt goes and Abernathy or I act as his date"
Grindelwald said "it best be a act and not too friendly if you want to keep your limbs"
Newt said "I really hate ministry party's they always are talking about laws or missions, I am the odd one out for not caring about that and talking about creatures or the weather if Theseus bans creature talk" newt could ramble on about atmospheric pressure and how it affects storms due to his thunder bird (side note this was almost a long and probably boring example of it lol...I might have researched it a few times)
Grindelwald said "I won't make you go if you don't want to, and jack will respect your choice"
Jack said "come on boss it's a once in a year opportunity it would help us avoid them if we get the right Intel"
Newt said "I'm not really comfortable betraying my brother like that"
Jack said "how about I promise not to use any information gathered to hurt your brother or his wife if it is avoidable"
Grindelwald said "jack" warningly
Newt said "I will think about it" and left the table
Grindelwald said "great now he skipped two meals! what did I say about respecting his choice?"
Jack said "but this could help keep aurors out of our way therefore keeping Theseus out of our path"
Grindelwald said "then you should have said it more like that and less like a threat"
Jack said "what I wasn't threatening anything?"
Grindelwald said "I'm aware of that but newt who doesn't socialize much probably doesn't especially after vinda the other day...Newt probably saw it as a threat"
Jack pales and said "I never thought of that, I'll try to apologize and reword it better tomorrow morning"
Grindelwald said "good I would hate having to replace you", as he walks out of the room and heads upstairs to try to calm newt down, Grindelwald didn't find newt upstairs in the bedroom or in the briefcase, he was starting to get worried newt went somewhere when he heard a small whimper from a panther
Grindelwald said "you shifted at will this time didn't you?"
Newt came out from under a chair by the fireplace and nodded yes
Grindelwald said "then how about you change back, I know you can you mastered it a few days ago"
Newt shook his head no and jumped up on a chair in front of the fire and laid down
Grindelwald said "I would prefer to talk to you"
Newt shook his head no
Grindelwald said "I take it you don't want to talk tonight?"
Newt nodded that he didn't want to talk
Grindelwald said "ok then how about you change back and we cuddle for a little before bed"
Newt looked at him then jumped into his lap and fell asleep
Grindelwald said "that isn't what I meant liebling", but petting his ears anyway
Grindelwald picked newt up once he had shifted back in his sleep and put him on the bed before curling around him and tucking them in
Newt woke up early to Grindelwald staring down at me
Newt said "good morning, sorry I didn't want to talk last night but sometimes when I get overwhelmed I have trouble speaking"
Grindelwald said "it's ok love I understand that sometimes when you are upset you avoid contact or speaking but especially eye contact with people, it's part of what make you you, and I love you so I accept all parts of you quirk's and all"
Newt said "I love you too, it isn't that I don't want to speak it's more that I can't speak"
Grindelwald said "we will figure out a way for you to communicate when you are upset or overwhelmed eventually"
Newt said "sorry about last night"
Grindelwald said "there is nothing to be sorry about I'm not upset or disappointed, jack was just trying to say something and said it wrong he didn't intend for it to come out as a threat he intended it to be more along the lines of we can avoid him if we know what he is doing"
Newt said "that doesn't sound so bad why didn't he just say that?"
Grindelwald said "jack isn't always the best at wording things, and you can sometimes be a little quick to thinking something is a threat which is not a bad thing"
Newt said "if you want I'll go to the party just be prepared if I'm not overly chatty for a few days after"
Grindelwald said "I will leave it up to you liebling, I don't want you to do something you are against"
Newt said "Theseus will be expecting me so I guess I should probably go, I just don't like crowd's and parties are especially draining"
Grindelwald said "jack would fit in better than Abernathy unless you say you went to musca and met him there since he is a musca auror on top of my second in command now"
Newt said "Theseus would like that and be less suspicious of him then he would jack if I brought him"
Grindelwald said "so Abernathy is taking you then"
Newt said "I guess, I don't really think jack could be sneaky enough to get the info without breaking whatever cover he made"
Grindelwald said "yeah, I agree discreet is not his thing but puzzles are which is why he is head of intelligence gathering"
Newt laughed and said "you break it to jack and I'll go terrorize Abernathy with our decision"
Grindelwald said "you little minx tricked me into helping decided"
Newt batted his eyes and said "yes, I did but you still love me"
Grindelwald said "yes I do" and pulled him into a kiss
Newt said "next time we can add a little petting if we aren't in public"
Grindelwald said "I'll be keep that in mind liebling"
Newt grinned and said "good"
Grindelwald watched him leave the room to go downstairs for breakfast
Grindelwald took a cold shower then went downstairs
Newt ate some hash browns and toast
Grindelwald said "eat a little more"
Newt said "I'm full, I'll take a muffin for a snack before lunch"
Grindelwald said "two muffins"
Newt said "fine deal"
Grindelwald said "have fun with the nundus today"
Newt said "and my new zouwu, don't let Antonio get into trouble his leg is still healing from the chandelier stun he did a few days ago and Cassie is hanging out with him today for some reason"
Grindelwald said "I'll keep Antonio and Cassie out of trouble, what all is a permanent resident after your latest rescue"
Newt said "a hatchling thunderbird with angelwing he can fly but not long distances so he can't be released, another nundu they took the venom glands out, the zouwu who is a overgrown kitten with some health issues, and mortymus a manticore that had his claws and tail removed from him he is a little clingy after I rescued them"
Grindelwald said "so a thunderbird a nundu a zouwu and a manticore are your new adoptees"
Newt said "yes, I hope you don't mind"
Grindelwald said "I'm not going to control your life love, you rescue animals that is part of you and I won't take that away also I find it adorable how deadly animals see you as their mum"
Newt said "thank you"
Grindelwald said "and you have had several chances to change me and my goals and haven't so I think it's only fair to let you do your job your way"
Newt said "I don't overly care about people except for my friends I worry more about creatures"
Grindelwald said "I know that love, I will try to avoid hurting leta and Theseus as much as possible"
Newt said "ok but don't let yourself get hurt in the process"
Grindelwald smiled and said "I'm glad you care, I won't let them hurt me because I know that would hurt you more in the long run then me defending myself"
Newt smiled at Grindelwald and said "you know me well"
Grindelwald said" well I would hope so we are dating and living together"
Newt blushed and said "well I think we need to get to work"
A few hours later Abernathy asked Grindelwald if he was ok with Abernathy attending the party with newt
Grindelwald said "yes or I would not have offered you the chance to, keep your hands to your self"
Abernathy said "I will,I see him as a brother or a best friend nothing more"
Grindelwald said "then we will have no problems"
Abernathy said "do you know what he is wearing so we can match?"
Grindelwald said "I have no clue as I hadn't asked yet, I will ask him later"
Abernathy said "ok boss,by the way jack apologized to newt I think it went well"
Grindelwald said "thank you for supervising them"
Abernathy said "no problem boss"
Later at lunch
Grindelwald said "what are you wearing to the party Abernathy wanted to match"
Newt replied "I should find out here in a hour or so leta sends something that my brother would approve of me wearing since he doesn't like me wearing any of the tux's or suits I get, should arrive today also Theseus has a motto that you can never wear the same thing twice,it drives me crazy I like to be comfortable not dressed in a stiff,scratchy suit"
Grindelwald said "that is interesting"
Newt said "not really, leta tends to pick stuff I hate to wear or wouldn't wear unless forced into it"
Grindelwald said "well maybe next time you can arrive dressed as normal and see his reaction"
Newt said "I have done that won't do it again he actually tossed a lightning spell at me"
Grindelwald said "he what?"
Newt said "I think he was joking"
Grindelwald said "no one cast a lightning spell at someone as a joke it can kill"
Newt said "well technically for thunderbirds it is a way of communicating or showing their feelings"
Grindelwald said "is Theseus a thunderbird?"
Newt said "well no"
Grindelwald said "then it doesn't excuse him of his actions"
Newt said "he knew I would dodge it"
Grindelwald said "and what if you hadn't noticed it or moved to slow?"
Newt said "then it would have hurt for a few minutes"
Grindelwald said "you need to eat" knowing he was not getting anywhere with this conversation
Jack said "you are always concerned if he doesn't eat does he have a eating disorder?"
Grindelwald said "no he doesn't he just forgets that meals are a necessary part of life untl he gets hungry enough to faint, I noticed that when he was taking care of me"
Newt said "I get busy and forget"
Grindelwald said "I know which is why I remind you to eat meals and snacks sometimes"
Newt said "I still dislike breakfast"
Grindelwald said "it is often considered the most important meal of the day, it gives you energy to work the rest of the day"
Newt said "or indigestion if you aren't awake enough for your stomach acids to activate again"
Grindelwald laughed and said "I don't think many people have that issue, perhaps it has to do with your anxiety"
Newt said "I don't think so I have never been big on breakfast"
Grindelwald said "I'll lay off of breakfast reminders if you eat something at nine-ten and then lunch"
Newt said "deal"
Newt's fwooper landed on the table with a package
Newt opened it to see a navy blue tux with a black shirt and shiny black shoes with gold plated cufflinks and a periwinkle blue handkerchief
Jack said "interesting color combo*
Abernathy said "it's stylish I can work with that, although I can see that you would never pick it and gold really silver would go so much better, are you going to add eyeliner to make your eyes pop?"
Newt said "why would I wear makeup?"
Abernathy said "it would make your eyes pop,makeup is not all girly"
Newt said "I know that,but why would I want my eyes to pop?" Confused
Grindelwald laughed before saying"my angel is clueless about makeup and dressing up he doesn't see the reason for it"
Newt said "I think it has something to do with human pre-mateship ritual that I don't understand,is it something like with muggle peacocks?"
Jack chokes "is he serious?"
Grindelwald said "unfortunately, which is why my approach to woo him is a bit unique"
Abernathy said "yes I had noticed you added in displays like some of the creatures use to woo a mate,I had wondered why and now I see why, I now think that might be the only way to get through to newt"
Grindelwald said "yes it has done wonders with newt because it's in a format he understands and I don't mind I think in a way it is kind of primitively romantic"
Newt said "sorry I'm different from others"
Grindelwald said "I would not love you if you were like everyone else, you are what caught my heart quirk's and all"
Newt said "I love you too dear, the party starts at six Friday night"
Abernathy said "how do you get in?"
Newt said "we will floo in about thirty minutes early so Theseus can give me a rule list of what not to do or talk about and suggest what I should talk about"
Abernathy said "why show up early if you can avoid it?"
Newt said "better than being dragged off in the middle of the party to be yelled at for breaking a social normality"
Jack said "your family has issues"
Newt said "yes I'm aware but at the end of the day he is my brother who I would rather not hurt"
Grindelwald said "well I have meetings to get to in ten minutes"
Newt leaned over and kissed him saying "good luck"
Grindelwald said "thank you I'll need it to get through this meeting with out tossing a cursio,the idiots went against a direct order and attacked random aurors last week"
Newt said "perhaps make the fact it was a order and not a suggestion well known, sometimes your wording is open to interpretation"
Grindelwald said "I think it is quiet clear what I mean"
Newt said "not everyone thinks the same or is as intelligent as you"
Grindelwald puffs up and said "well I suppose that is true or the world would run much smoother"
Jack said *and now bosses ego is inflated again"
Abernathy said "well this will be interesting"
Newt said "don't let my comment go to your head or ego"
Grindelwald smiled and said "to late love"
Newt said "I should probably have known better"
At dinner
Abernathy showed his tux for the party and asked for everyone's opinion
Newt "I don't care what you wear"
Jack "you look delectable Abernathy"
Grindelwald said "looks alright I suppose, I would look better with newt"
Abernathy said "yes boss you would but even under a transformation spell you would probably be detected since Dumbledore will be there"
Newt said "great are you sure I can't fake my death"
Grindelwald said "I think that is a little drastic to avoid a party love"
Newt said "you have never been to a party hosted by my brother and it shows"
Jack said "newt Dumbledore wants to talk to you since you have been avoiding his letters"
Newt said "no I'm not I do not receive them therefore not avoiding, the fwooper has orders to return to sender if it is from him"
Grindelwald laughed and said "I love the way you deal with him, be careful liebling"
Abernathy said "well I guess we can avoid him as much as possible if you want newt"
Newt said "he is like a tracking fungus he locks on and you can't avoid him until he gets the conversation he wants at minimum and the reaction he wants from you the rest of the time, it is a nightmare honestly"
