Mary’s song (Oh My My My)
“Take that back, love!” Mary yelled at Emma when she tried to eat the cookies on the plate. They were back in Canada, and the girls had decided to meet up. Also, Emma had missed Mary too much and couldn’t wait another day without visiting her.
Emma stared at Mary, confused as she asked why she was not allowed to eat the cookies Mary had freshly baked. “Because Regulus and Narcissa are coming, and it’s their first time coming to my house,” Mary said with a smile. The dark-skinned woman was the most cultured person in the whole ‘friend group,’ as they called it. She was raised in a very strict household where she had to be extremely respectful to everyone around her, everyone.
Emma groaned as she walked to the giant living room, where Amelia and Alice were sitting. The fast skaters and known models - Mary, Narcissa, Amelia, Pandora - were really close since high school. They usually hang out together, but since the Fast Skaters game was far away from Toronto, they couldn’t meet up for a whole week.
“Hello girls! What are you talking about?” Emma begged as she jumped on the couch, landing next to Alice and putting her hand around her shoulder. “Nothing,” Alice blushed. She looked nervous about Emma finding out what they’ve been talking about. Emma brushed it off and started talking about how excited Mary was about seeing Rabastan and Regulus.
The girl’s conversation was paused as they heard a knock on Mary’s giant house. “They’re here!” Mary headed to the door to greet the professional football players.
Mary felt Rabastan’s arm around her when she saw their faces. The model was always a bit closer to Rabastan even though she worked with Regulus’ brother.
Rabastan let her greet Regulus with a handshake, as she knew he didn’t really like being touchy.
Lily saw the two men entering the large living room as everyone started to meet there. “Hello!” She greeted them with a huge smile. She had met Regulus before; they were really close in high school, but she had never really had any interaction with Rabastan before.
Emma looked over to everyone talking and having fun as she was starving. “Do you mind if we eat now, love?” Emma asked Mary, making sure the curly-haired girl knew about her starvation.
Most of the girls had realized Alice and Rabastan ignored talking to each other, in every single way possible. Lily didn’t think much about it, but she had a gut feeling about it not being well.
When Emma told her guests they could go to the dining room, Mary was thrilled with Emma’s soulful voice. Lily adored Emma and Mary; their love was so innocent, Lily’s heart melted every time she saw them.
Lily put on her genuine smile as she sat next to Regulus. Lily agreed with Remus; he was quite ‘chill’ as he said. Lily couldn’t help but think about how he is a ‘nerd’ - Sirius’ words - and a football player. It felt weird. “Hello, Regulus!” She said as the table had started talking in groups. As Lily mentioned to Remus before, she wanted to get to know Regulus.
“Hi,” He said with a small smile, almost invisible. Lily was actually really good at starting conversations, but it looks like Regulus was not. Lily remembered Remus’ words. They were quite similar, so Lily started talking about Dostoevsky; he probably likes him, she thought. She was right. It was almost like the younger boy had opened up to her. It reminded Lily of Emma’s rookie year; she had opened up to Lily immediately.
After dinner, they were all sitting in the living room, talking about their last games. Lily got distracted by the message she got on her phone. It was an unknown number; ‘suppppp’ Lily thought about people who could have written like that, the only friend she could think of was Marlene, but her number was saved.
Thankfully she didn’t have to think about it any longer;

Lily looked at her phone with a tired smile, as she saved the number as “Potter 73”. James’ number was 73; Lily’s was 37. She thought it was kind of cute.

It didn’t take a long time for James to answer, but everyone was leaving - except Lily because Marlene was staying with her mysterious girlfriend, and Lily did not want to stay alone. When Mary and Emma had found out about it, they welcomed her to stay with them - She did know how he found her number though. It was probably Remus who gave him.

Lily looked at her phone, feeling confused. While she was accustomed to exchanging awkward nicknames with others, the one she had just received went beyond mere awkwardness—it was downright gawky.

Well, at least Lily had guessed right. “Who put that smile on your face?!” Mary screamed across the room. Lily slightly blushed as she realized Mary and Emma were watching her when she was texting James. “None of your business,” Lily announced, sending Mary and Emma a kiss as they smiled slyly.

Lily had decided James was not bad at all after all; it wouldn’t be any problem talking to James. Lily dropped her phone on the couch she was sitting on when Mary said she could stay in the guest room. She helped Mary make the room more ‘sleepable’ and changed her clothes right after.
The red-haired girl went downstairs to get her phone. She unlocked her phone as she was walking back to the guest room. Emma and Mary were not here, so her footsteps were hearable.
Lily got into the bed Mary had helped her make, and looked at James’ responses
