The Bank Trip that Changed Everything

Harri woke up with the sun pouring in from the window in her room at the Leaky Cauldron. She sat up and stretched with a smile. She had two whole months without her horrible aunt and uncle. She got out of bed and dressed quickly. She had never had the opportunity to explore the alley.

She grabbed her school bag and went down the stairs. She waved hello to Tom and his daughter, who were running the bar, as she went into the alley. Once in the alley, she realized that she was going to have to get money if she wanted to get anything.

With that thought in mind, she made her way to Gringotts. She had never been there on her own before. Hagrid had gone with her the one and only time she went and Mrs. Weasley had gone for her last year. She made her way up to the teller with a polite smile.

"Excuse me, sir, I would like to make a withdrawal for my account, please," she hoped that they didn't think she was rude. She hadn't the faintest idea how banks worked.

"Do you have your key?" Came the drawn-out response from the goblin.

"I was actually never given my key. Dumbledore had it, and he gave it to Hagrid when I first came, and Mrs. Weasley had it last year. Is there another way to prove I am who I say I am?" She asked. She shifted from side to side as nerves ate her alive.
"We can give you an inherance test. Follow me," the goblin hopped off his stool and started down the corridor. Harri followed him quickly.

"Thank you, sir. I'm sorry I never did ask your name," she said as she walked behind him. She looked around at the architecture in wonder. She had never seen this side of the bank, and it was a beautiful marble.

"My name is Bonecrusher Young Witch. Your account manager is right through that door," he said before heading back the way they came.

She called a thank you after him and knocked politely on the door. She entered when the doors opened. She walked up to the desk and greeted the goblin behind it.

"So you are claiming to be Harri Potter? If this blood test proves that you aren't the Heir Potter-Black, you could be charged with line theft. Are you sure you want to go through with this?" They asked. They had obviously had the speech memorized as they didn't look up from their paperwork.

"I'm not sure what line theft is or why you called me Heir Potter-Black, but I really do need to withdraw some money, so I'd like to take the test," she said. She was confused about a lot of things that were happening today, but she really wanted to get her own clothes instead of Dudley's castoffs.

"Very well," the goblin said as they pulled out a piece of parchment and a blade. "Three drops of blood on this parchment, and we will see if you are telling the truth."

Harri, no stranger to pain, cut her palm, and let three drops hit the paper. The wound healed itself after. She smiled at it. She did really love magic.

The paper expanded rapidly as it magically filled out. She picked it up and read the beginning.

Harriet stopped reading after that she didn't want to see what all her aunt and uncle had done to her. She had lived it. She handed the paper to the goblin and let him read it. He needed proof of who she was.

"Well, Heir Potter-Black, it's a pleasure to finally meet you. It seems like you need a cleansing, and while that happens, I will contact Lady Longbottom. She should have had your magical guardianship passed to her in the absence of her daughter-in-law," they said before pressing a bottom on their desk.

"Wait, you never told me your name, and why do I have so many spells and potions on me?" She was starting to freak out. She had no idea about any of this and she had just wanted to go shopping.

"My name is Pax the Slayer, but you may just call me Pax. I promise you young witch I'll explain everything once you are cleansed," they said with a small smile.

Harri nodded and left with another Goblim who was wearing green robes. Harri's head was spinning. She had another father? The Longbottoms were supposed to look out for her? What happened to Neville's mom that she couldn't take her?

She was placed in the centered of a rune circle. She couldn't pay attention to anything that happened after that. She woke up hours later in a hospital room. Pax came in and nodded his head in approval.

"It's good to see you awake, Heir Potter-Black," they said as they sat next to her bed.

"I feel lighter," she said softly. It felt like something had been lifted off of her chest. Her scar felt sore, but it wasn't like when Quirrell had Voldemort on the back of his head but the type of sore she would be after a Quidditch match.

"That is good news. We had taken quite a bit of dark magic off of you. Now we have contacted Dowager Longbottom, and she's waiting in my office when you're ready," Pax said. She was starting to realize that Pax was a very straightforward person.

"Best not to keep her waiting," she said as she stood from the bed grabbing her glasses. She followed Pax after quietly. When they got to his office, she saw the intimidating woman that was Neville's grandmother.

"Thank you for coming, Dowager Longbottom. This is Heir Harriet Potter-Black, and your daughter-in-law is her godmother. She had a number of spells on her and knows nothing of her heritage or responsibilities," Pax said as they walked behind their desk. They pulled out six ring boxes and sat them in front of her. "These are your heir rings. You will put them on in this order Le Fay, Slytherin, Black, Peverell, Gaunt, and Potter. The Potter family hasn't been in England for as long as the others, so they need to be last. You can put them on the same finger as they will combine once you are accepted."

Harri nodded and picked up the Le Fay ring. She slid it on her ring finger. It felt like being hugged when she put it on. She felt the magic of it dance around her playfully before it settled close to her heart.

"Does that mean it accepted me?" She asked softly, looking at the two adults in the room.

"Yes, Heir Potter-Black, the family magic has accepted you," Dowager Longbottom said gently. She gestured for her to continue with a small smile.

Harri picked up up the Slytherin ring and put it on. It felt like being dipped in cold water. It felt like waves rocking up and splashing against her. It settled over her and settled in her veins.

She picked up the Black family ring and put it on after Le Fay and Slytherin rings combined. It felt like flames burning in her soul. It dulled to the feeling of being in front of a fire after a moment.

The Peverell ring felt cold in a way she had never felt before. It felt like an old friend when it finally settled. The symbol on the top glowed softly before settling with the others.

The Gaunt ring seemed reluctant to accept her. It felt like it was fighting itself. Finally, it decided she was worthy and blended with the others.

Lastly, she put on the Potter ring, and it felt like a blanket wrapping her up. It felt like coming home after being gone for a very long time. She sighed happily when they settled.

Lady Longbottom patted the seat next to her and said, "Pax had told me what you had found out on your inherance test. Now, I was not aware that you were to be in my care, but I will have a room made up for you. With your permission, Pax is going to let me handle your investments while I teach you how to handle it yourself."

"Lady Longbottom, I'm not entirely sure what is happening, but Neville has always done his best to stand by my side, so I trust you. I'm staying at the Leaky Cauldron right now as I accidentally blew up Aunt Marge. The minister said I want allowed to leave the alley," Harri said softly. She had a feeling her life was going to be flipped on her head after they left this room.

"Don't you worry about Cornelius. I will be talking to him. Pax if you would please get me her portfolios so that I may go through them?" Lady Longbottom said kindly. Pax nodded and handed her the folders.

"While you were unconscious, I took the liberty of getting you a bag of gold. If you run out, you can always use your rings to pay for things. Think of the house you want to use, then stamp it on the payment pad," Pax explained as they handed them a bag. Harri thanked them softly, holding the bag to her chest.

"Harri, why don't you go do the shopping you had planned while I go talk to Cornelius?" Lady Longbottom suggested. Harri agreed as they walked out of the bank together.
