0.25 - A Wizard's Guide to Pop Culture, Part 1

A few minutes of skimming the spines of books on each shelf, finding titles that could be a tiny bit relevant to their research was excruciating, to say the least. But, Celestine and Cedric managed to find ten books as they gave up.

“I can’t believe I had to climb up to the third floor to get these,” Celestine complained as she slammed three hardbound covers to their table, “Do you know how dusty the high shelves are?”

“I’m guessing it hasn’t been cleaned for centuries?” Cedric smiled sheepishly as he pulled a chair for her, letting her sit down before he did, “So, where do you want to begin?”

“Well, we could begin with that book,” She pointed to a book that contained a summary of pop culture.

Cedric nodded and read the table of contents, making sure that the content was relevant enough. Celestine mirrored his actions, wanting to complete the task on time as they had other electives along with their major subjects.

In half an hour, the pair managed to finish their part in the summary and began returning the books back to their proper places. So the Hufflepuff headed to the higher shelves as the Ravenclaw focused on the lower section.

“Who knew putting back a couple of books could be so exhausting?” Celestine groaned as she packed her quills back in her bag, “It’s like I walked through all of Hogsmeade.”

“Well, Hogwarts is old—you forget that,” Cedric reminded as they left the Library carrying both of their bags, “Didn’t you learn that when you learned Year One History of Magic? Wasn’t that last week? Do you have memory loss?”

“Hey, I don’t have dementia, and it was actually during the first two weeks of the year when I learned that, mind you, so don’t tease me about it.”
“Alright, alright; you’re so defensive about it.”
“Am not! Why are you carrying my bag anyway? I can carry it on my own.”
“Figuring your arms need rest from walking through the Library as if it were Hogsmeade.”

“Shut up!” Celestine laughed and smacked Cedric on the arm, “You’re so annoying, you know that?”
“I am hurt, Harry Potter’s cousin,” He laughed as he saw her ears turn as pink as her cheeks.
“Yeah, fuck you,” She playfully rolled her eyes and they continued to walk.

A few minutes later, Celestine realized Cedric was walking her to her classroom where she would take her weekly tests, so she halted and turned to him.

“You didn’t have to follow me to my next class.”
“I wanted to, so good luck on your tests.”
“Thank you,” She smiled as he gave her her bag.
“You’re welcome,” He said and smiled back before opening the classroom door for her, waiting for her to enter before he left and headed to his next class.
