On the Express
Error talking
Nightmare talking
Thinking/X talking/Deity
It was September 1, and Error, Blue and Inky were sitting on the Hogwarts Express, watching through the window as students arrived through the barrier. That had been fun to find; thank heaven that Professor McGonagall had told the trio how to get on to the platform when she met with them during the summer. Error had decided to go shopping with Inky; Blue had gone off to do his own thing. He and Inky had run across the professor showing around a group of muggleborns and decided to travel with her group. Inky had a lot of fun talking with the other students, and when they got back to their room in the Leaky Cauldron, Blue had been waiting with a new jacket for Inky. It looked almost exactly like Error's, and Inky had fallen in love with it instantly. Error knew better than to ask; he had a feeling that the answer would be beyond headache inducing.
"I wonder how long it will take for us to arrive." Blue wondered aloud. Inky giggled. "It's going to take all day I think. Don't you remember what Professor McGonagall told us, Rune?" he asked Blue, giggling softly. Error smirked and looked over at Blue. "Yeah Rune, don't you remember what she told us?" he repeated, his smirk growing wider as Blue blushed at the nickname. He had gotten caught trying to make a rune chain by Inky, so the little boy started calling him Rune. When Error heard about it, he did the same thing, finding it fun to make Blue blush.
Error sighed, extremely bored and looked back out the window when he heard a loud female voice. "Come on now, hurry up, all of you. The train's going to leave any minute!" said a dumpy looking redhead woman, herding forward three teenagers. Two were obviously her children, a tall, lanky boy and a freckled, shorter girl, both redheads. The third teen was a girl with very bushy hair and was holding a basket, while the boy was carrying a cage with a tiny owl in it. The train whistle shrilly blew as the small group of teens boarded the train. Error looked away from the window as the train slowly started to move; they were on their way!
He smiled at Inky's excitement as Blue released Hedwig from her cage. The snowy owl had found them about a week after they got their wands, swooping down onto Inky's head and refusing to move. Inky had lit up instantly, telling Error that this was the bird he remembered. It took him a little while to remember her name, but the happiness when he did was a memory that Error would cherish forever. Hedwig treated all of them as if they were her chicks, though she was most often with Inky. But Error didn't mind it when she randomly perched on his shoulder and started preening his hair.
Opening his bag, Error pulled out a book titled 'How to scare your foes, protect your friends, and be a sight that makes people run for their sanity' by Chaotic. It was a gift given to him, along with a book he set for his class with the title 'You are Dead, You and Defense' by Shell. He had run across Shell, as he called himself, while trying to figure out what book to set for his class. Shell had directed him to a dark corner in the bookstore with these books. The books were helpfully marked with the year they were meant for, and there had been just enough for his class.
The group rode in silence for a little while. The silence was interrupted when their compartment door was suddenly pulled open though. Looking up, Error saw that it was the redhead boy and bushy haired girl from the platform. They looked surprised to see the group within; they probably weren't expecting adults on the train. The two teens were staring the most at Hedwig though. "What? Never seen a snowy owl before?" Error asked, arching a brow at the two teenagers' rudeness. The boy flushed and opened his mouth, only for the girl to beat him to it. "Sorry sir, but it's just... that owl looks like an owl that belonged to a friend of ours, you see." she said quickly, shooting the boy a look.
Error sighed and closed his book, looking at the two expectantly. "Well? Why are you here? You had to have a reason to open the door, right?" he asked, slightly snappy. Blue placed a hand on his shoulder, trying to calm him down. He could tell Error was annoyed; the door had been closed for a reason. The girl blushed and stammered out, "U-um we just wanted to s-sit in here, w-we didn't know that you w-were sitting here sir. W-we'll just go now." The two teens turned and practically ran away from the scary looking Professor.
Error closed his eyes tightly, exhaling through his nose harshly. He felt Inky curl up next to him while hearing Hedwig perch above him. Blue started humming softly, pulling out his book on Ancient Runes as Error drifted off to sleep. Inky followed soon after, pulling his slightly too large jacket tightly around himself. As the scarlet engine traveled through the countryside, Blue felt a smile tug at his face. It looked as if this was going to be fun.
