Thinking/X talking/Deity talking
Error woke slowly, feeling Inky cuddling into his side. He blearily blinked, barely acknowledging the fact that Blue was walking around in the room. Groaning, he sat up, hearing Inky whine at the loss of warmth. Yawning widely, he scratched the back of his head, looking over as Blue put a plate down on the side table. "I went downstairs and asked for some eggs and toast, I figured you guys would be hungry when you woke up. Tom said it was alright for us to eat in our room." he explained as he set down some coffee. "I already ate, I woke up a while ago. Decided to do some reading on this place while I was waiting for you guys to get up." "Thanks Blue." Error said simply, wolfing down the food. Normally he wouldn't eat food, but since he was in a human form, he had started to feel hungry.
Inky sat up, obviously giving up on getting anymore sleep. He looked up at Blue when he handed him a plate of food. Blue held back the urge to coo at Inky's adorably sleep-mussed hair and droopy eyes. "Huh. Your eyes have some blue in them now." Blue said, peering closer at Inky. "And your hair has a bluish tinge to it as well." he continued, tilting Inky's face this way and that, looking to see if there were any other changes. Error looked over as Inky batted away Blue's hand, pouting at the so-called manhandling.
"Huh... it doesn't look like too much changed overall though. Though he may be able to use my strings now." Error said calmly. Inky perked up and looked over at his new father. "That would be so cool if I could use your strings!" he said excitedly. Blue shoved a fork in the excited child's hand and pointed to his plate sternly. "We're not going anywhere until you eat." Inky pouted and went to work on his food, suddenly ravenous. Inky set down his plate and chirped, "Done! Can we go to the Alley now?" Error and Blue chuckled at Inky's eagerness. "I guess so, kiddo. Just remember to behave, ok?" Inky rolled his eyes but nodded. "Lets go, lets go!" he said impatiently, tugging on Error's hand. Chuckling, the taller man allowed himself to be led out by the excited young boy. Thanking Tom on the way out, the trio entered the Alley, heading straight to Gringotts. (Nu...)
They were quickly waved through to see Silverclaw, who took some blood from Inky and applied it to a blank parchment, which caused it to fill out with words. Looking it over, he nodded and placed the parchment inside a slim file. "Congratulations, Mr. Miscalculation. You now have a son in blood and magic." Silverclaw said with a smile. "My contact has gotten a meeting arranged with Dumbledore. He plans on meeting you in the Leaky Cauldron tomorrow at 2:00 pm. I would like to warn you now though, he has a habit of using Legilimency on people." "Using what on people?" Error asked, confused.
"Legilimency. The easiest way to describe it is a mind reading spell. Dumbledore uses a passive form of it whenever he meets someone's eyes, letting him read their surface thoughts without him needing to say the spell. A deep scan would require him to actually cast the spell on his target. All you would have to do is avoid eye contact with him." Error chuckled darkly. "I highly doubt he would get anything from my mind, a good friend of mine put some very good shields in place. Mostly so his twin couldn't find him through those he considered his." he said with a smirk. Silverclaw smirked and nodded. "Very well. Now, would you like me to recall all keys to the Potter Vaults? It is a 20 Galleon fee if you do so, but the new keys will be blood-bound to you, so only you or those you give permission can use it."
"Yes please. After that, I would like to make a withdrawal." Error said. "How much would you like to withdraw?" Silverclaw asked. Error shrugged. Silverclaw nodded in understanding. "Very well, I'll have a runner take you to Vault 704 for you to make a withdrawal. It is 29 Knuts to a Sickle, and 17 Sickles to a Galleon." Error looked over at Blue, who was very determinedly keeping his mouth closed. He'd rant about the illogical money system later. "That sounds good to me. Thank you for your time, Silverclaw." "Your welcome, and I hope we can do more business soon." Silverclaw said, handing over three small gold keys. As soon as Error touched them, he felt a prick in his hand before the keys glowed slightly. "Vault 687 is your son's trust vault. Vault 704 is the main Potter Vault, and Vault 623 is Lily Potter's vault, which had been sealed upon her death. I will send you an invoice of the contents of the vaults later, if you would like?" "Yes please. Thank you again." Error said, getting up. Blue got up and took Inky's hand. Silverclaw used a mirror to call for someone to take them to their vault. Handing Error a bag, he explained that it was enchanted to be 'bottomless', meaning that he could put a LOT in there.
After a quick trip through the roller coaster-esque cart system (Inky had fun; the two adults... not so much), they stood in front of a huge metal door. The goblin runner used the key that Error had given him to open the door, and Inky and Blue stared gaping at the huge amount of wealth in the vault. "Whoa..." Inky said quietly, his eyes huge. Error just rolled his eyes and looked over at the goblin. "How much do you think would be a good amount for me to withdraw for shopping purposes, with enough left over for me to pay the guy at the Leaky Cauldron?" he asked bluntly. The goblin replied, "I would say 500 Galleons, 250 Sickles, and about 300 Knuts. Should be more than enough for whatever you buy, along with a week's stay at the Cauldron." Error nodded and looked through the stacks of gold. Quickly counting up the recommended amount of coinage, he used his magic to put it all neatly into his bag.
After another stomach twisting ride, the group walked out of the bank, blinking in the bright sunlight. Inky grinned and started to pull the other two to a rather dingy looking shop. It's faded sign read 'Ollivanders: Makers of Fine Wands Since 382 BC'. It was pretty obvious why Inky was so excited after reading the sign, and Error couldn't help but be curious. Entering the shop, they looked around the dusty place, with Inky almost vibrating in excitement. "Well now," said an old voice from next to them, causing Error and Blue to whirl around, startled. "I've never seen you two before... but I am not surprised to see you again, Mr. Potter. Or do you go by a new name now?" the old man asked. "My name is Inky Miscalculation now, Mr. Ollivander. This is my new dad, his name is Error, and the other guy is Blue." Ollivander smiled and looked over at the two adults, his silver gaze making them uncomfortable. "I assume you haven't picked a last name yet, have you?" Ollivander asked Blue, his smile growing wider when Blue shook his head. "Well then, I think the last name Berrycloth suits you just fine!" he said cheerfully. Error smirked and looked over at Blue, who just groaned and buried his face in his hands. "Now, I assume that all of you require wands, yes?" "Yep! Do Blue first!" Inky said cheerfully. Ollivander waved his own wand and a measuring tape flew out of nowhere and started measuring Blue.
"Now, let's see here..." Ollivander muttered, walking away. He snapped his wand at the tape when he came back with a stack of long and thin boxes, causing the tape to roll up and drop onto the desk. "Try this, spruce with phoenix feather, 12 inches." he said, placing the wand in Blue's hand. "Wave it." Inky said, stifling giggles. When Blue did just that, a loud bang was heard and it started to rain inside the shop. "Oh my!" Ollivander cried in delight. "Not quite a match, but it certainly likes your personality! Still, not the perfect match." So saying, he snatched the wand from Blue and shoved another in his hands. "Holly and unicorn hair, 13 ½ inches." That one was also a bust, causing a small fire. After about 20 minutes and 50 wands, Blue finally found the 'perfect match' as Ollivander called it. "Alder and unicorn hair, 11 ¼ inches." When Blue waved this wand, a warm air filled the room and bright blue sparks shot out the tip. "Oh yes, this one likes you, Mr. Berrycloth! I think that anyone that fights you is going to find you a very difficult opponent indeed." Ollivander exclaimed happily. Blue smiled and sat down, ready to watch the other two get matched up.
Ollivander set the measuring tape upon Error and waved his wand, putting Blue's reject pile away. He went to the back and returned quickly with a new stack of boxes. Flicking his wand, Ollivander put the tape away, to Error's relief. "Give this a try, Elm and dragon heartstring, 13 inches." When Error waved the wand, half the boxes were suddenly pulled off the shelves. "Not that one!" Ollivander said cheerfully. It took Error about 30 minutes to finally get a wand. "Cedar and phoenix feather, 13 ½ inches. Exceptionally good for fighting." Error waved this one and a ghostly, dark blue dragon appeared, before soundlessly roaring and dissipating. "Oh yes, this one is a perfect match alright! I think you'll find no better wand anywhere." Ollivander said.
"Now, I believe it is your turn, young man." Using his wand to put away the rejects, Ollivander quickly summoned a new group of boxes. It took Inky only 10 minutes to find a match. "Dogwood and dragon heartstring, 12 ½ inches. Very mischievous." When Inky waved the wand, golden flowers sprouted on the floor. "And very creative as well! I think you'll go very far in life with this wand, young man." Ollivander said to Inky with a gentle smile. "Now, that would be 21 Galleons, unless you would like to purchase holsters as well. The holsters are 5 Galleons each, as they are made of dragonhide and enchanted so your wand can not be summoned from them." "We'll take the holsters as well." Error said, while counting out the appropriate amount of Galleons.
Bidding Ollivander farewell, the group went to the ice cream parlor, Florean Fortescue's, to get a quick snack. After getting a Death by Chocolate for Error, a strawberry and peanut butter for Blue and a butterbeer flavored cone for Inky, the group went back to the Cauldron, where Error went ahead and paid for a week's stay. Buying lunch, the trio went back up to their room, so they could use their new wands in peace. Error had hit a bookstore while waiting for Blue for the other two to finish their ice cream, and had gotten a bunch of spell books. He and Blue started practicing, and Error noticed that the wand in his hand was very eager feeling. It felt somewhat sentient, but not quite. It felt like an eager to please dog, one that was loyal to him only. It was... a different feeling, to say the least.
All in all, it was a productive day, as Error and Blue caught up quickly to what would be considered basic stuff to know. Error entertained Inky by turning random things into small birds, while Blue would make the silverware from earlier dance. They spent the whole day doing this, getting familiar with this world's magic. As they laid down to sleep that night, Error held his son close. Inky smiled in his sleep; he had a real family again.
