He hadn’t seen Sirius since June.
And the time before that had been the morning of the 30th of October 1981. He didn’t understand this sickening feeling in his ribs. The last twelve years had made it all so unfamiliar.
It was the peak of summer when the note arrived on his windowsill. The Phoenix monogram was carved distinctly into the red wax seal. Dumbledore.
When he opened his window, spooking the small owl that had delivered the news, he grimaced at the heat. The apartment kept the heat out well, and he’d never enjoyed the sweat of late summer.
He pinched the bottom corner of the envelope between his index and thumb and tore the cream paper away. Inside was a note, no bigger than a business card. The handwriting made his gut clench nervously. Not Dumbledore.
He pulled the note from the envelope and discarded the waste on the kitchen counter. He almost laughed, but it caught in his throat.
To avoid getting put down, dangerous mutt requires rehoming.
Oh, love.
