"I know I had stuff planned but I'm not gonna do it anyways" -harry
When Harry woke up again, it was, thankfully, daylight. He cast tempus and it was about 10:00 in the morning.
Not bad, considering how messed up his sleep was last night.
Harry stretched and got out of bed, startling Ambrosia awake.
She looked up at him with an annoyed hiss.
Harry shrugged at her.
Ambrosia gave a very good impression of an eye roll, slithering onto the edge of the bed.
Harry grinned stupidly and put out his hand for her to get on and climb his arm, securing her usual place around his neck.
Harry opened the door to โhisโ room, walking out and going down to the kitchen.
He saw his letters from last night, and he narrowed his eyes.
Maybe it wasn't his brightest idea to write letters while still half asleep?
He thought for a moment, before he decided that he'll just count the letters as his rough drafts. He'll make them a lot better and properly written later- he will be keeping the idea of silly little drawings though. Harry will give his tired self credit for that idea.
He sat down at the table, gathering the parchments into a pile and setting them further aside as food popped into existence.
He liked daisy. Maybe sometime soon he could offer her some payment or atleast- free days? Breaks? Harry did like cooking so perhaps he could split the cooking deal 50/50 with the little elf.
โDaisy!โ Harry called, and the little elf appeared on the chair on the other side of the table.
โMaster Harry is needing something?โ She asked, her eyes wide.
โI was thinking- do you want to get paid? Or have like, a free day each week? If not, maybe we could split the task of cooking 50/50?โ Harry asked, talking kind of fast because he didn't want to offend the elf too much.
Daisy looked like she was actually considering his offer, and Harry had to admit he was surprised.
โMaster Harry is so kind to Daisy! Daisy will accept master Harryโs offer for a free day and splitting the cooking!โ Daisy said, looking a little bit nervous.
โAlright, awesome! Is every Friday a good day for you?โ Harry asked, tilting his head a bit.
The elf nodded. โYes! That is being a good day for Daisy. Is you needing anything else?โ She asked.
Harry shook his head, and she gave Harry a grin and popped off to somewhere else in the house.
He sat back a bit and wondered what he should do today.
He knows that he told himself that he'd read that book on obscurials- because for some reason the word held an uncomfortable familiarity with him despite never hearing it before- but he also really wanted to look for a town and get stuff to decorate his room.
The urge to decorate his room won after a few minutes, and Harry went back up to his room after he was done eating.
He'd done a mildly smart thing and put his shrunken items on the bedside table, so he gave himself a pat on the back for that at least.
He grabbed his shrunken trunk and unshrank it, putting it down right next to the bedside table.
He flipped it open and dug out the money pouch that he got from gringotts.
He could extract however much money he wanted, and he could also pull out conversions to non-wizarding money if its what he needed.
Harry pulled out the bag string and swung it up on his shoulder, like a really small messenger bag, and left the room.
He was going to look in the library for a map, but he decided to just ask Daisy.
โDaisy!โ Harry called for the second time that day.
The elf popped into the room, and took notice of Harryโs attire. (He was still wearing the same thing he'd been wearing this whole time- his hogwarts trousers, a cast-off long sleeve of dudley's, and his hogwarts cloak. The only new thing was his money bag.)
โIs Master Harry going somewhere?โ The elf asked.
โMaybe? I wanted to ask if you knew of any towns in this area. Magic or not, that doesn't matter.โ Harry asked, gesturing vaguely to the area outside the mansion.
Daisy looked like she was thinking really hard for a moment, before she nodded.
โYes! There is being a small non-magic town that way.โ She said, pointing to the left. โWalk far enough and there is being a path at the edge of the wards.โ
Harry paused to muse over that for a moment. He hadn't learned glamour spells quite yet- he's going to look for books about it eventually- so that wasn't an option.
It was a non-magic village, and far from wizarding areas (the potter mansion not included), so honestly Harry could just pull up his cloak's hood and hope his scar stayed decently hidden.
โAlso, could you keep Ambrosia for me? Walking into a non-magic village with a snake around my neck probably isn't the best idea.โ Harry asked.
Daisy nodded and Harry told Ambrosia to go down to the little elf, and the snake did so, but not with lack of annoyed and complaining hissing.
โAlright, I'm going now, wish me luck.โ Harry said, walking to the front door and pushing it open.
โDaisy is wishing yous luck!โ The elf said, and Ambrosia hissed something along those same lines.
Harry waved at the two before he shut the door gently as he could, which wasn't much considering how absurdly large the door was.
As he walked away from the mansion, he wondered just how much reach the wards around the mansion had. Probably a lot of reach considering the goblins had also applied some wards to the house and area.
Harry continued to walk for what felt like hours before he saw faint shimmers in the air. The wards.
He walked right up to the edge and scouted the area. Daisy was right, there was a trail just a few steps outside the wards.
Harry took a deep breath, hoping no absolute chaos would happen, and stepped outside the wards.
