Chapter 15

"Did he feel it?” Pandora asked as soon Regulus got back.

“Feel what?” He asked, still feeling a bit shaky.

“Me destroying the diary!”

“Oh I completely forgot about that,” He said feeling a bit ridiculous at having forgotten such an important detail but in his defense the meeting chilled him to the bone. “Well if you forgot it must mean he didn’t react.” She said excitedly.

“We have another problem though,” Regulus said, reluctant to dampen her mood. “What do you mean?” She looked concerned.

“They’re going to raid Diagon Alley when everyone is doing school shopping,” Pandora went white as a ghost.

“No, surely you heard wrong.” She said, shaking her head.

“I heard right Dora, they’re going to kill everyone that doesn’t get away from that alley, especially the muggleborns and their parents.” He said feeling grim.

“But I know what we can do,” Pandora looked hopeful. “What?”

“Tell the Order,” Regulus said, walking upstairs to write a letter. Pandora followed, “Tell the Order? You’ll be arrested on the spot Reg, you can’t go tell them,” He turned to look at her. “I never said I was going in person.” She looked confused. “What will you do then?” He grinned, “Pensieve, Dumbledore has one in his office,”

“How do you know that? You were never sent to Dumbledore's office,” Regulus froze turning to look at her saying hesitantly, “Please don’t get mad,”

“Regulus.” She said already looking mad.

“I may have broke into Dumbedore’s office to steal what I thought was a horcrux.” Her face went red.

“YOU DID WHAT?!”

Dumbledore stared at an interesting parcel an owl sat on his desk before flying off without waiting for a reply.

“How curious,” He said, checking the parcel for enchantments but finding none. He opened the box to find a letter and a small vial with a memory in it.

Save them.

An interesting parcel indeed.

Regulus stared down at the mark on his arm. Now he no longer needed it. He knew this would be ending soon. The only reason he’s kept it so long is to know when meetings are taking place. How to rid him of it though. That was the question. Pandora and Kreacher weren’t here to help him. Pandora being with Xenophilius and Kreacher taking care of Mother. He was on his own with this one.

Making up his mind he walks to the kitchen. If all goes well the mark will be gone. If all goes bad it will appear over the scar tissue. He’d have to find out. He grabs a knife from the drawer and holds it up to his arm taking a deep breath and got to cutting.

His arm was covered in blood. He was gritting his teeth bad enough his jaw was hurting but he knew this had to be done. He stared in disgust at the piece of flesh he carved out. He began to feel a bit lightheaded and walked toward the bathroom to grab the aid kit he knew was stored under the sink. He dropped to the bathroom tile reaching into the cabinet grabbing a roll of bandages and pain reliever potion. He drank the whole bottle of the nasty stuff and felt the pain lessen. The bandages were his best option since he didn’t have a wand and he wasn’t sure if healing spells will cause the mark to reappear. After forcing himself back to his feet he cleaned the starting to dry blood off in the sink and quickly wrapped his arm with the bandages tight still gritting his teeth. He grabbed another pain potion and walked towards his bedroom collapsing on his bed to sleep.

“Regulus!” Pandora’s voice pulled him out of his sleep. “Huh?” He went to rub his eyes and winced at moving his arm which was now free of the bandages.

“What on earth did you do!?” Pandora said her eyes filled with tears.

“I had to get rid of it Dora,” He said, reaching out with his other arm to grab her hand. She pulled out her wand to heal it. “Dora wait we don’t know if it will come back,” She glared at him, “Then we’ll find something else out,” She grabbed his wrist and pulled his arm out causing him to grit his teeth and whimper at the pain. Her glare softened, “Sorry,” She waved her wand over his arm softly mumbling healing spells. He watched his skin stitch back together leaving a large scar in its place. No mark reappeared, only a scar. Regulus let out a breath or relief. “It's gone,” He said in awe, “It’s finally gone,” He grinned and gave Pandora a hug. She hugged back just as tight as he was.

They stared at the pile they had dark magic pouring out of it and seemed to fill the room all except the diary Pandora destroyed. It made Regulus and Pandora feel uneasy.

“How could someone do this to themselves?” Pandora asked.

“It's Voldemort. He wanted to be immortal. A desperate man does desperate things.” Regulus glared down at the pile. He grabbed the basilisk fang and took a deep breath before stabbing the ring watching as it seemed to scream in pain. He quickly moved on to the cup and diadem, destroying those too. He stared at the locket.

“The thing that started this all,” He said in a wistful tone. Pandora grabbed his hand without the fang saying, “It's nearly over,” He nodded and squeezed her hand before glaring at the locket and stabbing the locket with all his might.
