Chapter 13

He set the bag of supplies on the counter in the kitchen. “Regulus, will you tell me what you found?” Pandora asked at what possible surprise Regulus had. He grinned at her saying, “Patience Dora.”

She rolled her eyes saying, “I’ve been patient enough now tell me.” Regulus hid the fang behind his back saying, “The surprise is the answer to our struggles, possibly.” Pandora raised an eyebrow, “Possibly?” She said feeling more curious. “It could be fake,” He said reluctantly. He pulled the fang out from behind his back.

“Is that what I think it is?!” Pandora said, rushing over in her excitement. He grinned saying, “Yep, and hopefully it will work otherwise I don’t know what to do.”

“Let's find out!’ She turned to go to the basement to grab the horcruxes when Regulus stopped her.

“We don’t know if he will feel them be destroyed. We have to destroy them carefully.” He said

“How will we know when to destroy them?’ She said walking back over. “I have an idea.” Pandora looked cautious. “I usually don’t like your ideas. They are very Gryffindor ideas.” She said, feeling more suspicious.

“Firstly, rude. Secondly, there's going to be a Death Eater meeting on July 15th. If we-” Pandora interrupted him, “No.” She said, “What? I didn’t even finish.” She shook her head saying, “You don’t have too. No.”

He frowned, “It's not that bad of an idea. You don’t even know what I’m going to say.”

“You were going to say you will sneak into the meeting and have me destroy one while you are there to see if he feels it.” She said, making Regulus pause. “Okay so maybe you did know but it's a good plan,” She glared, “It's the type of plan a Gryffindor would make.” Regulus made a disgusted face, “It is not.” “Is too.”

“I am not playing this game with you again,”

“Are you sure this is the best idea Regulus?” Pandora said from the doorway she was watching from.

“What other option is there? I have to know what this meeting is about and it's the perfect opportunity to find out if he will feel them be destroyed. Every follower is attending. It's something important.” Regulus said while unpacking the bag of supplies he swiped while in Knockturn Alley.

“Surely we can think of something. Who would you even use and how would you be able to keep them from going to the meeting? We don’t know any Death Eaters well enough for them to come here and keep from going to the meeting.” Regulus perked up at her words.

“You’re wrong. We do know a Death Eater well enough,” He said walked over to her. “Evan,” Her eyes widened. “But we haven’t spoken since school ended and he joined Voldemort.” She said looking saddened at the state of her relationship with her brother.

“You could invite him over to talk. Say you’re beginning to see things his way. He’ll surely come if you tell him that.” Regulus said while Pandora was hesitant.

“What if he doesn’t?” Pandora said fully believing Evan would not show. “Then we’ll think of something else.” Regulus said, giving her a hug.

“If you really don’t want to speak to Evan we can figure something out okay? Don’t force yourself.”

“No, I can do it,” She took a deep breath and walked upstairs to the study to write a letter to her brother. He watched her walk hoping he was making the right decision. If he didn’t things would only be more complicated. He got started on brewing the polyjuice potion.

A month went by and Evan was staring up at his sister's house. The flowers in the garden, the large meadow surrounding it. The pastel colors mixed in among bright colors. The wing chimes hanging on the porch making a soft jingling sound as they blew in the wind. It screamed in its uniqueness and light. It was a house he always pictures her living in. It suited her well.

He saw her standing on the porch waiting. He hadn’t seen his sister in almost a year. 9 months if his math was right. They just had two different views on the world that caused a rift between them. He hoped based on her letter they would be able to mend their relationship and get back to how they were.

“Evan,” Pandora said, a breath of relief that he was actually there.

“Dora,” He said in return. Pandora ran across the yard and threw her arms around him in a tight hug.

“You actually showed,” Pandora said into his shoulder. He hugged her tighter.

“I’ve been waiting for a letter from you,” He said, pulling away to look at her face. “Really?” Pandora asked.

“I knew one day you’d come around to my side of the line.” He said, “You always were the smart one.” Pandora gave him a strained smile. “Come in, we can talk over tea.” He followed her into the house

They sat on her couch setting the tea on the coffee table in the center of the living room.

“I wanted to know more about Voldemort,” She turned in her seat to look at him, bringing her legs up to tuck under her. “We call him the Dark Lord,” She nodded, “Right right, the Dark Lord, what family is he from?” She asked, curious as to what information the Death Eaters had about their lord since Regulus barely had time to be a Death Eater after finishing school.

“He is above wizards, even purebloods, some believe he is reincarnated Salazar Slytherin,” Evan said leaning forward to take a sip of his tea.

“Surely there's more to it.” She said feeling puzzled at the lack of information but having such faithful followers.

“There is nothing more, he is our lord, his power is unmatched.” He said feeling proud of his loyalty to the Dark Lord. “Except for Dumbledore.” Pandora said in return.

“The Dark Lord can beat Dumbledore with ease, he just hides behind other witches and wizards to do his bidding.” Evan said, missing that Voldemort seemed to do the same thing yet had his complete loyalty. He sipped more of his tea.

“How does someone join?” Pandora asked, grabbing her tea and swirling it around in the cup a bit.

“He reaches out to families or a member of the family brings them to the Dark Lord. In your case I will take you to see him and you’ll be given the mark.” He said sipping more tea.

He shook his head a bit to clear it of the slight fog that had begun to fill his head.

“Evan?” Pandora asked, “Are you alright?”

“Just a bit lightheaded,” He replied. “Sip more tea, it'll make you feel better.” He listened to her and sipped more tea till his cup was empty.

He felt more light headed than before and began to sway in his seat.

“Dora?” He mumbled confused.

“I’m sorry Evan,” That's the last thing he heard before his vision went black.
