Warmth in the Nest
- So, tell me again, Severus – Narcissa whispered menacingly – who did you marry?
- Your cousin, Sirius – Narcissa’s hold grew stronger on her teacup with valerian.
- And when was it that this union took place? – Lucius asked from where he was standing behind Narcissa’s couch.
- Two weeks ago – his voiced sounded tiny – We went through all the proceedings, I swear!
- And do tell me, Severus – Narcissa put down her teacup – do you think it is appropriate to inform your family of this, two weeks later? – her smile grew sweetly.
- I… I am sorry, Lucy, Cissa, I promise I didn’t intend to hide it – his tone grew higher.
- Do not shout, Severus, it is unbecoming – Lucius admonished automatically.
- Now, I am pretty sure you were not on a hidden relationship with Sirius Black during your seventh year – she sighed – did he forced you? A potion? – she frowned – that makes no sense.
- I dare suggest dear, a blackmail perhaps. – Lucius added pensive.
- No, no – he denied quickly – there was no blackmail and no coercion. How could you think it was because of a potion? Are you insulting me?
- Of course not, dear, we were just listing options. Then, would you care to share how did you end up being married to Sirius Black? Didn’t you hate him? – he asked.
- Lucy, Of course, I hated Sirius Black, he was the bane of my existence, a bully, and – Severus was cut short by Narcissa.
- He was? Then what is he now? – she said urging him to elaborate.
- Well, apart from everything that he was, he is my husband now – he said confidently.
- And how is this husband of yours behaving? – Lucius said squinting his eyes.
- He is a darling to me – Narcissa gasped – He is totally caring and thoughtful, he is spoiling me right and left.
- I think we should call for a healer Narcissa, was he imperioed? – He whispered to his wife.
- I think that would be feasible – she said staring at Severus as if he were dressed in one of Dumbledore’s lime robes.
- No, no, hear me out first – He hurried to stop them from actually getting a healer – Sirius told me that he wanted to get back at something Potter said, and he needed to live like a perfect pureblood scion to do that, you know, settle down. But the best blow would be to do it with me. He wanted to bother both Potter and Lily, so I was the best choice.
- And you just accepted to marry him for a petty revenge? – Lucius couldn´t believe his friend.
- Of course not! He just wanted to playhouse with me, but I am a man with dignity, I told him that if he wanted to playhouse with me, he had to marry me legally and rightfully or there was no way in hell for me to comply! – He said triumphantly.
- So, you were the one to propose? – Narcissa said slowly. Severus blinked owlishly a few times.
- Well, yes, you could say so – He said with a small voice once again.
- Severus Snape! – Narcissa started shouting only to be interrupted by that small voice again.
- Black – he whispered – I am no longer a Snape but a Black – he said convinced.
- You – a little raise in her voice for a second took place – you are right, you are a Black now, it seems the Black Madness affected you even before getting into the family. How could you marry someone you didn´t even had a good relationship with!
- Well, in my defense, Sirius is handsome and rich – He said swiftly.
- So, you would have married any man that appeared at your doorstep? – Lucius said disbelieving what he was hearing.
- Well, I don´t think so, no. My husband is just especially handsome – He said grinning.
- Severus Black née Snape, you are daring! – Narcissa said accusingly.
- It seems I’m not even a Snape, it seems I am Black née Rowle-Prince instead.
Severus saw how Lucius rolled his eyes back before holding the chair Narcissa was sitting in with a death grip. If Lucius was a lesser man, he probably would have fainted.
- No way! – Sirius couldn´t hold his laughter in, he was holding his belly while thrashing in the sofa that was in front of their bed – You’ve become so bold! But you are right, you were the one that propose to me!
Sirius had been having too much fun hearing how his meeting with his friends went and been making a mess out of their couches.
Severus sat by his side and was quickly enveloped in Sirius’s arms.
- She was not wrong though – he said taking a moment to scratch his neck – I didn´t give you a ring, I’ll fix it. We’re going to exchange rings in our public wedding – He said grinning.
- What did Walburga say? We’ll do it when? Two months? – He knew his mother-in-law had been in talks with the Rowle and Prince families today and she should have made a decision.
- Well, she said there was no need to wait that long, at the end of the day we are already married – he squeezed one his tights while saying that – We went to talk to your blood families, they have demanded invitations to our wedding, they readily agree to allow you to use the name Rowle Prince for your maiden name. Your father died young and was raised by another branch that had no heirs, as he was not from the main family, he allowed your mother to also give you her name too so she could continue her bloodline. Learn it by heart, we are going to go with that story, okay? – He said before kissing his cheek.
- Okay, I got it – he raised an eyebrow – didn´t they want to meet me?
- Oh, they did – he smirk – but my mother said there was no hurry, at the end, you are already a Black and you are not someone that can be seen just because others are wanting to see you.
- Wouldn´t that make them think I am a snob? – He said worried.
- Well, it doesn´t matter, you can be a snob, you are a Black now.
Severus decided that didn´t need a response so he just pinched his husband’s arm to show his discontent, but he fools no one, he felt warm and reassured at his husband’s and his family’s protection.
Sirius has been really happy these days, he liked being a businessman more than a politician, but it was still okay. He loves coming home to his beautiful husband and having dinner with his whole family. He even likes Cosmo and Mimi serving him, he didn´t know how he coped without elves for so long.
He noticed his husband was more carefree too and he looked so handsome in his new clothes that he just wanted to take them off him all the time.
He was glad he married Severus and could get back the life that was always meant for him.
His mother was doting towards him too, she arranged for his clothes and sent him lunch when he was out with his father. Now, even his father looks at him with pride. He never thought he needed the acknowledgement, but it made something inside him tingle with warmth. He loves getting into bickering fights with his baby brother again.
This calm life and the happiness of being in his own little love nest with Severus at the end of the day was everything he didn´t know he wanted.
