Days goes by. Our work has kept us busy, but anytime there is the slightest change we can spend some time together, we'll hold onto that. It's been hard to act like there is nothing going on between us when it comes to walking around the school and being surrounded by other people. Severus is really good at it to be honest. Maybe way too good for my liking. It often times makes me question if he doesn't really like me anymore as soon as we continue our day after we just have had cute cuddle moment hidden from others. It pains me sometimes, but when we meet again behind close doors, there is no doubt in my mind how he feels about me. We have also started to spend the nights in each others chambers. Weekends mostly, so we can actually enjoy the time after waking up next to each other. We haven't done anything too 'radical' when it comes to intimacy. We are really taking it slow, and both of us are perfectly fine with it.
One typical Sunday morning, Severus and I are in a deep sleep in my chamber, when all of sudden Sniffy jumps on us to wake us up. It's nothing unusual that he starts walking on us time to time when he feels hungry, but this time he woke us earlier than usual. "Mmhh..?" I try to open my eyes as I hear some vague rustling. When I finally get my eyes open, I see that the niffler is holding some letter in his tiny hands. With drowsy moves, I sit up:"Wha..? What is it, luv?". Severus narrows his eyes under the blanket:"Told you we should have go to sleep in my chamber...". Letting out lazy chuckle as I open the letter to read it. My eyes widens and I let out a scream:"WAAHH!!!". Immediately the man next to me shoots up worried:"What?! What is it?". Even Sniffy is confused what's going on.
There is huge smile on my face:"The baby is here!!! Tonks's and Remus's baby boy got born a day ago!". Severus's face expression from worry turns into sour:"Don't startle me like that. Thought it was something important.". He then turns onto his side and pulls the blanket over him. "Ey! It is important! Not only they are my dearest friends, I am the godmother of this child too.". Severus mutters something under his breath and tries to fall back into sleep. He's so adorable when he's grumpy like that. I keep re-reading the letter. It's Remus's handwriting, telling me how the baby was born and how Tonks is now doing. He also asks me to come visit them next weekend's Saturday. I start rocking the little burrito next to me:"Sev..! Sev, Remus asks to come visit at their home on next Saturday. Would you like to come with me?". Even our relationship is a secret in the castle, it doesn't mean it needs to be a secret outside of it. Right? "Anything to make you let me continue my sleep..." he mutters half asleep. "It's a deal then!" I smile. My heart is filled with joy!
The Saturday comes. Severus wasn't happy when I reminded him how he promised to come with me. 'That's almost like taking advantage of a drunken person.' he tried to argue, but after giving him the puppy eyes, he sighed deep and agreed to come with me. Some hours later, him and I are behind Remus's and Tonks's front door. Tonks is the one who opens the door and her bright smile lights up the foggy Saturday afternoon:"(Y/N)! You made it!". Right away, we share a hug. "Hi! Good congratulations for the baby!" I smile big and hand her a little gift that is dedicated to them and for the baby boy. "Thank you! He really has stole our hearts." she giggles and opens the door more for us to come in. She and Severus make an eye contact after I have walked in. Tonks won't even budge when the Potions Master has his usual cold stare. Instead she smiles at him:"Come on in.".
After washing my hands, I walk into the livingroom. As soon as I walk in, Remus shoots up from armchair to me and chuckles:"Thought I heard familiar cheerful voice.". "Remus, hi!" I keep on smiling as I walk up to him to give a hug. While giving him the hug, I notice there is a statue on their bookshelf. Not just any statue. It's a statue of two people holding hands. Seeing it makes me feel happy. "I would also get up and hug you, if I wouldn't be holding my godson here." Sirius's voice can be heard as he's sitting on the sofa. "Woaahh..!" my eyes starts to sparkle when I realize he's holding the baby who's now asleep. When I walk closer to take better look at him, Severus and Tonks walks in the livingroom as well.
Remus pauses for a second, slightly surprised to see his old a colleague in his house. But his smile won't drop or fade away:"Glad you could come too, Severus.". Severus stands near the doorway as his eyes shifts on the baby, then back to Remus. "Congratulations seems to be in order." Severus says with the usual monotonic tone, almost like he doesn't really mean it, but had to say it out of politeness. "Thank you. We are very happy he's now here with us." Remus nods as he puts his hands in his pockets. It's almost like this unspoken way to tell them that Severus and I are now together. Which didn't come as huge surprise for any of them for some reason...
"He's so cute!" I whisper while staring at the sleeping baby. "You wanna hold him?" Tonks asks with soft tone. I start nodding:"Yeah.". Gently, Sirius hands me the baby and I get this overwhelming feeling in my heart. He's so precious! "Have you figured out the name yet?" I ask while admiring the little human. "Ted." Tonks answer. I let out soft gasp:"Ted... Hi, Teddy~.". Severus sees this interaction, but instead of paying any more attention to the baby and me, his eyes narrows to the man next to me. Sirius smiles loosely:"Snivellus.". Immediately I give him the warning look. Good thing I'm holding the baby, otherwise I would have slap him behind his ear. The look on Severus's face won't change a bit:"Black. Thought I smelled something rotten in here...". "With that big of a nose should be able to." Sirius strikes back. Oh, boy...
Luckily, their bickering didn't get any further than that. Soon, we all gathered around the table to drink some coffee and eat cake. Remus, Tonks and I are the ones who talk mostly and leads the conversation. Severus and Sirius gives short, one word answers here and there whenever they feel like it. It's actually going surprisingly well, considering their past together. Tonks and I share a sneaky smile anytime Remus and Severus manage to speak longer than two sentences. The goal here isn't to make all three of them best friends, but to be able to get along without any bickering or such. As expected, Severus didn't take anything else, but coffee in black. When there is me, who eats cake that Tonks has made like there is no tomorrow. The baby gets passed from one person's arms into another during our pleasant conversations. Severus declined when Tonks asked if he'd like to hold Ted. No surprise there.
When it's was my turn, I look down to the baby as he's staring back at me with his blue eyes. This is the first time he's been awake when he's in my arms. "Hi, little one. I'm (Y/N). Your godmother." I talk softly and 'shake hands with him' as he has his tiny hand around my pinkie. Remus got up from his chair:"That reminds me...", and he leaves the room. We all share a questioning look, but end up continue what we were doing. Then I glance the man next to me. Severus already had his eyes on us with the expressionless face. I turn back to Ted:"And that's Severus. He looks grumpy most of the time - but don't worry, he's actually really sweet person.". Had to whisper the last part so Tonks and Sirius won't hear thru their own conversation. "It has always been curious why people are even talking to babies directly... The child can't even find his own nose. Let alone understand what you are saying." Severus points out with half bored tone. "Hmph! It doesn't matter if he understands me or not. I want him to know he's in good hands." I explain.
Remus comes back in the kitchen with a bag:"Here we have it.". He then puts it down on the table, in front of me. "What's this?" I wonder. Remus goes back to sit next to his wife:"Little of something I should have given you a long time ago.". Confused what he means by that, I got up and peek down to see what's in the bag. There is a new coat that looks just like the one Remus ripped when he turned into werewolf year back. "Oh! Remus, you shouldn't have..!" I gasp. "Hope it's the right size." Remus smiles gently. I never thought he would actually buy me a new coat. It was just a joke between us he owns me one. Remus... Being so excited and overwhelmed, I didn't know what else to do, but hand Ted into Severus's arms and go hug my dear friend. Severus is baffled by the sudden responsibility that just been thrusted upon him. He feels little bit uncomfortable to be holding the tiny human, but won't say anything. Ted curiously stares up to Severus confused as he avoids to make any eye contact with him.
Tonks sees this and gets up from her seat. "If you want, I can take him." she offers. "Yes. Please do." Severus leans a bit away so she can take him from his arms. After Ted goes to his mother's arms, he starts whining and they leave the room. "Ey, where is my present, Moony?" Sirius question half jokingly. "What you mean?" Remus asks amused. Sirius shrugs:"I am the godfather after all. I should get something as well, no?". "Consider this present to be for both of you then." Remus jokes. The thought of Sirius and I sharing the coat that is made for women makes me laugh. What I know about Sirius so far, it's really not his style. "Joined custody with (Y/N)? Sounds good to me." Sirius smirks with flirty tone. The tone and the way Sirius just looked at me raises the hairs behind Severus's neck and he narrows his dark eyes at him.
Giving Sirius the 'are you serious right now' - look:"Why you always haveto make everything sound so weird?". Sirius keeps the smug smirking on as he leans back in his chair and puts his hands behind his head:"Oh, c'mon now, (Y/N). Don't be like that. What's it between two great friends? You have after all, seen me naked before.". Immediately, his words caught Severus's attention and his eyes shifts right at me, giving me the side eye. Even he has the usual expressionless look, anyone can just tell he isn't amused what he just heard. My eyes widens and slight panic hits:"What?! No..-! Sirius! Now you are making it sound a lot worse than it is!". Why did he had to say it like that?! Luckily, Remus backed me up on this and told the real story behind the reason why I have seen Sirius without any clothes. Not that Severus wouldn't believe if I was the one who told the truth, but at least there is one more person who can confirm this. Oh, dear Merlin these people sometimes..!
