Meeting The Family
It had been a few weeks since anyone had seen Rolf as he worked with the Demogorgon. Well aside from Luna who gave them all updates. At last they got the ok to come into Rolf and Luna's world.
The world within the briefcase was disorientating, but they soon got use to it. "That's a dodo, holy shit that's a freaking dodo" Dustin pointed at the large bird that towered over him. A woman stepped out from behind the huge bird "oh hello, I'm Bunty. We call it a Diricawl, but yes it is a dodo. Fun fact it never went extinct, but it does disappear when it feels threatened".
Will looked round feeling confused. Luna looked at Will half laughing "come on Dougal, show your self, always playing jokes this one" a creature appeared clinging to Will it's whole body was covered with long fine, silky silvery hair, it's long tail coiled round Will's leg. it had very long arms and legs. An older man appeared "I see you've met the Demiguise, my apologies I haven't introduced myself, I'm Newt Scamander, I'm Rolf's grandfather, I'm a retired Magizoologist. It would also appear that I'm also living in a briefcase at the moment, pleased to meet you". He shook everyone's hand in a disjointed fashion.
Joyce slowly walked up to a moon lit hill there was I suppose a herd of creatures they had huge eyes that looked up and long necks. She noticed that they had webbed feet also, Luna walked up beside Joyce with a bucket "there called Mooncarves, would you like to help feed them?" Joyce and Luna fed the strange creatures. They had very small mouths compared to their eyes, and were quite beautiful.
Dustin's face lit up as he saw a small creature wandering up. It resembled a large rat with no fur, and soft, fleshy spines on its back. He knelt down and spoke softly many to himself "well emmm what are you, a side from kinda cute" soon Dustin was surrounded by many of the small creatures, he sat cross legged on the ground. Suddenly he heard Rolf's voice projected into his head 'their called Murtlaps, mind their teeth, their harmless but if bitten it will cause a light headache and diarrhea. Sorry I can't be down there with you all, I assume you've met the kids. I'm a bit preoccupied with the Demogorgon at the moment, but I can see that the Murtlaps like you".
Dustin carried one of the Murtlaps as he walked over to Luna, reeling at the fact that Rolf and Luna might have children, and they we're potentially here with them. The rest of the Murtlaps had followed Dustin over to Luna. Luna and Hopper were feeding the Graphorns, along with Joyce. Dustin was stood, he was still holding a Murtlap "odd question but do you and Rolf have kids?" Joyce looked at Luna quizzically at this information. Luna answered "Lorcan and Lysander are by the lake, they're helping raise two Marmites". Newt walked up "I named them marmites because they look like a cross between a dust mite and a squid, I'll take everyone down to the lake, they can meet the kelpie". Luna laughed "and the twins, you know your grandkids" she said in a mock exasperated tone, she playfully shoved Newt who gave a lopsided smile.
Everyone stood by the waters edge. Newt took his shoes off, and dived into the water. The water was very clear they could see Newt looking round he put out a hand and bowed, a huge animal stirred emerging from a mass of plants. The huge creature leapt out of the water with Newt riding back to the others, the creature was like a very large seahorse, but looked like it was made from kelp. Newt stood on the bank and touched foreheads with the kelpie before it swam off. Two young boys around age 10 emerged from the lake each holding what everyone assumed to be a marmite. The creatures were emitting a bio-luminescent blue glow, their bodies were transparent. Each boy held a bottle of blue liquid to feed the creatures, that had there tentacles wrapped round the two young boys.
"Hi" the boys said "Let's see if we can guess everyone's names from the descriptions mum has given us, I'm Lorcan and this is Lysander" the two boys had blond hair Lorcan had a short choppy hair style. Lysander had hair that was shaved on one side but down to his elbows on the other side he wore his long hair in braids with beads. The first person they picked out was Eleven. Then the two grown ups, next was Lucas with his dark skin. Then Nancy, and Jonathan, then Dustin, the only two they got muddled were Will and Mike.
Lucas opened his backpack, he almost dropped the backpack in shock, there was a creature looking up at him from inside his backpack, it looked just as shocked as lucas felt. The creature made to run off but Lysander passed his marmite over to Jonathan, and threw himself on the little creature. The creature seemed to protest this treatment loudly. Lysander held the creature that looked like a Platypus he turned it upside down and gently shook it. A large collection of gold coins and other shiny items fell to the ground. Lysander spoke "meet the Niffler. Luckily we only have one of them. Mum calls them magical magpies, if you see something of yours, I'd suggest taking it back".
Everyone walked back the way they'd come looking at all the creatures around them. Nancy felt herself being drawn to a small sort of door it was half hidden by a curtain, she walked through, and saw two black swirling shapes incased in force fields that would shine a blue light when the creatures touched it, she slowly walked up to the two unknown creatures, feeling strangely drawn to them. She jumped as Rolf put his hand on her shoulder "their called an Obscurus, they are the only truly dangerous thing in here. They're made when a young wizard or witch suppresses there magic, usually it will kill the host as it uses up all they have to offer it, then it will kill anyone who is nearby untill they find a new suitable host. In the Muggle world it was the cause of every death attributed to the black death. My grandfather is the only person to remove one without the host dieing". Nancy saw the creature behind Rolf, in a large glass containment field was the Demogorgon, it was walking round freely. Rolf spoke "it let me bandage it's wounds, it also likes bacon".
The Demogorgon looked at Rolf when it heard the word bacon. Rolf smiled and produced some bacon he slid his hand threw the glass barrier, Nancy held her breath as the creature took the bacon, and sat down with it's back against the glass. Nancy was amazed as Rolf gently patted the Demogorgon like it was a puppy, saying good boy. He turned to Nancy "you'd better get going". She turned to the Demogorgon, she looked into it's eyes, in her mind she saw Barb a single tear ran down her cheek. The Demogorgon turned it's head from side to side, as if trying to make sense of this emotion it was viewing. It touched it's own cheek. She turned to Rolf her voice trembled a little as she said "bacon" she held her hand out to Rolf who gave her some bacon. Nancy looked at the Demogorgon "Barb was my best friend" she took a deep breath and carried on "I forgive you" shakily she slid her hand through the enchanted glass holding the bacon out to the Demogorgon, who took it gently.
As she left the small door she saw Luna "that was a very noble thing you did there". Nancy looked at Luna "I meant it, I wasn't always a good friend to Barb. The night she died. I chose Steve Harrington over her. He was cool and" she trailed off. Luna spoke "and Barb wasn't?" Nancy shook her head "she was always just Barb, geeky and straight laced. She was never ashamed of who she was though. I wanted to be cool, she wanted to go home. I thought she'd gone home. It wasn't the Demogorgon's fault that Barb was there, it was mine".
