The Bringing Up Of Harry Potter-Black

It was a hot summer night, James Potter-Black was tangled up his husband, Regulus Potter-Black, sleeping. The two weren’t wearing much, they were only in either loose shorts or in boxers. There bodies stuck together from the sweat as they laid on the bed with the air con running.

There was a sharp knock at the door.

James who has always been a light sleeper woke up instantly. He heard more knocks and went to check out the noise. He untangled himself from Regulus grasp, sitting on the edge of the bed waking himself up. He grabbed his glasses, that was on the nightstand putting them on to see better as he got up to walk down the stairs.

James grabbed his wand from the night stand casting light as he got up to head downstairs.

He walked carefully down the stairs making sure not to trip or fall down the stairs. He reached the bottom of the stairs, the knocking had ceased, James opened the front door and looked around, flicking on the light he put away his wand.

The first thing James was met with was the loud sounds of crying. James looked around quickly trying to see either the person who knocked on his door or what was making the loud cries.

James looked down to see a small child squirming in a basket with a blanket wrapped around its small squirming body.

James looked at the baby with shock quickly he picked up the baby, looking around outside one more time trying to see if anyone was going to come back to take the child, but James could not see anyone in the darkness coming towards him.

Brining the child inside and closing the door. James unwrapped the child from the blanket, the reason for the baby crying was because it was too hot.

“Reggie!” James called up the stairs. He knew Regulus would be down shortly, the one thing had didn’t know was what to tell Regulus.

Regulus woke up as he heard his husband call his nickname. “I’m awake!” Regulus called back opening his eyes to be met with darkness. He wondered what James could be doing up this late. Regulus grabbed his wand casting light onto the tip of it.

As Regulus walked down the stairs casting light all around him. Regulus walked down and was met with soft light coming for the living room. He heard James cooing coming from the middle of the living room.

Regulus walked up to his husband, resting his head on one of James shoulder while wrapping his arms around the waist. “What’s up, why are you down here?” Regulus asked, he noticed the baby and recoiled.

“What is that?” Regulus asked looking at the baby. “It’s a baby, Reggie, you do know where babies come from.” James joked, turning around to look at Regulus.

“I know it’s a baby, but where did it come from.” Regulus looking down at the baby his husband carried in his arms. The shock was clearly there even in the dark, James could tell.

“Well, Reggie, when a mommy and a daddy love each other every mu-“

“I know where babies come from!” Regulus yelled blush covering his face. “But you don’t just find a baby in your husbands arm, we’re both men that can’t happen.” Regulus explained.

“Reggie, this baby was left on our doorstep.” James said rocking the baby who had calmed down and went to sleep. “I looked there was no one around coming back for him.” James looked down at the baby rubbing its chubby face happily.

Regulus huffed, there wasn’t anything they could do. “Well, we could bring him to the adoption center.” Regulus joked, that earned him a slap from James.

“Regulus! We are not going to put him in an adoption center.” James yelled angrily. “I was joking, easy.” Regulus laughed as he was met with more hits from James.

James wasn’t hitting Regulus hard he was just playfully hitting him. “We are keeping him, or until someone comes looking for a child like him.” James reasoned with Regulus.

“Alright,” Regulus spoke he walked towards James and the baby. “Was there a name for this little guy?” He asked looking around the baby for a name tag.

“There was no name tag on him, you could check the basket, it’s still outside.” James inquired, cooing at the baby some more.

Regulus opened the front door and saw the basket that the baby was left in. He picked up the wooden woven basket and brought it inside to not let anymore warm air penetrate the cool air in the house.

Regulus moved the blanket around looking for any card or tag the would state the baby’s name.

“Harry,” Regulus said, James repeated the name. “Harry, any middle name or last name?” James asked looking at the baby.

“No,” Regulus had flipped the card around trying to look for any other information. “Nothing, just his first name.” Regulus said bringing the card over to James.

“Well then,” James spoke as he also inspected the card, “he’ll just take our last name.” James said, rocking the baby back and forth.

“Harry Pitter-Black, welcome to the family.” Regulus greeted. He smiled at Harry who was sleep peacefully. “How are we going to raise him, I’m not sure we’re cut out to be fathers, i mean I was raised by a not so caring mother and a dead beat dad that wasn’t around, so.”

Regulus was right they knew nothing about being dads. “Well I’m also new to this as well so we’ll both cut our selves some slack.” James said, looking into Regulus’ eyes.

“Alright, but if his parents come looking for him then we let him go back, agree?” Regulus asked.

“Agreed.” James said.

1 year old Harry Potter-Black:

“I’m back!” Regulus announced as he opened the front door. “We’re in the living room.” James shouted back. As Regulus took off his shoes and walked deeper into the house he could hear James talking to Harry on his play mat.

“Who’s accident prone, that’s you yes it is.” James cooed tickling Harry’s chubby stomach. Harry began to laugh as he was being tickled. “James,” Regulus said as he looked down and James.

James got up from laying belly down on the play mat. “What he doesn’t know any better.” James baby talked to Harry who continued to tickle Harry. Harry screeched as he was tickled some more.

“Here,” Regulus said handing small child like glasses with a strap around it, James took the glasses. “Thanks,” he kissed Regulus on the cheek and started to place the glasses on Harry’s head.

“James,” Regulus said from the door frame. “This is the seventh time this month he’s broken his glasses, we can’t keep buying new ones.” James knew exactly what Regulus was trying to get at.

“I don’t know Reggie, what if we have him grow up with magic and then he doesn’t go to Hogwarts, that would destroy him.” James said, a sad tone filling his voice.

“I’m worried about that to, but we can’t keep living off of muggle money to keep us a float.” Regulus said leaning on the door frame. “We need to use magic with him, if he doesn’t go to Hogwarts then we could just teach him at home how to use magic.”

Regulus was trying to James options on what to do if Harry didn’t get into Hogwarts. “I suppose we could do that.” James muttered not meeting anyone’s eyes.

Harry giggled happily, he also had no idea what was going on.

“Alright let’s do it,” James said after a while. “Harry,” James said pulling the baby’s attention from whatever the baby was playing with.

James pulled his wand out and casted a small harmless spell. The wand released small sparks as they started flying towards Harry. They harmlessly touched his face.

At first Harry was scared about what they were, but when they came up to his face and started to tickle him, he was no longer afraid.

He giggled happily as the sparks tickled him. “Regulus, your turn.” James said once the sparks had died out and Harry was sat there looking up at the two adults.

Regulus casted the same spell, sparks flying from his wand as well. Harry giggled clapping his chubby hands when the sparks were ticking him.

“Maybe this won’t be so bad.” James whispered as he watched Harry have a wonderful time with the sparks.

2 year old Harry Potter-Black:

“Dad!” A two year old Harry called. Regulus knew that call. Harry had wanted to show him something. “Kitchen!” Regulus yelled back to Harry.

Regulus had started to make dinner for everyone, he had left James to take care of Harry. “Dad!” Harry shouted as he entered the kitchen. His small two year old self still holding on the the baby chubbiness that was slowly fading out.

“Look what me and papa made!” He said excitingly as he held up a finger painting he had done. Regulus looked over to see the artwork. “That amazing, could you tell me more about it.” Regulus spoke, his voice was high when talking to Harry.

“Yeah,” Harry saidand pointed to a tan figure with a black splotch over his head. “This is you,” he said still pointing at the figure.

Harry moved his hand to point at another figure that was tan and had a brown splotch over his head and giant circles around his eyes. “That’s papa! And this guy in the middle is me!” Harry looked very happy as he talked about his picture.

Harry handed Regulus his painting so Regulus could get a better look at it. “This is going to go up on the fridge.” Regulus said turning to put the picture hanging up with a magnet.

“Thank you dad!” Harry smiled walking away toward where he had come from. “Go wash up!” Regulus said to Harry as he was leaving. “Tell James to help you clean up!” Regulus yelled again.

“Yes dad!” Harry yelled heading upstairs toward where he and James were finger painting. “Papa, daddy said you need to help me get washed up.” Harry said walking over to James to pull him towards the bathroom. “Alright Harry let’s go,”

James helped Harry wash his hands making sure most if not all the paint was off the toddlers hands.

Once cleaned, Harry ran down stairs like a herd of elephants. Harry quickly got in the chair and waited for his food.

Regulus headed over to the dinner table carrying Harry’s food. “Let me see your hands.” Regulus said to Harry before putting the bowl down in front of Harry.

“All clean!” Harry smiled showing Regulus his cleaned hands. “Papa helped me with them!” He ssid looking up at Regulus waiting for dinner. “Alright,” Regulus sighed placing the bowl down revealing funny shaped pasta stacked in the bowl.

“Yeah! Pasta!” Harry shouted happily, grabbing his fork and eating happily. “Slow down you’re going to give yourself a tummy ache.” James said walking into the kitchen.

“But Daddy’s cooking is so good.” Harry said with a full mouth. “Don’t speak with your mouth open.” James scolded, Harry closed his mouth quickly.

Swallowing his food Harry apologized to James. James had just sighed letting it go as he did. James sat across from Harry watching him eat as he waited for food. Regulus had placed down two more bowls, one for himself and the other for James.

“Enjoy,” Regulus said kissing James’ forehead. As the family dug into there food they enjoyed the peacefulness that surrounded them.

3 year old Harry Potter-Black:

“Dad!” Harry yelled sitting up right in his bed. He was starting to cry from the bad dream he had.

James woke up from Harry crying. James grabbed his wand casting Lumos onto the tip of it. “Reggie!” James hissed shinning the light into Regulus’ face.

“What?” He groaned turning over to face James. “It’s Harry,” he spoke sharply getting up quickly to go check on the three year old.

“Dad!” Harry called once more. James came into the room. His wand lighting up the room quickly. James turned on the lights, and removed the light from his wand. “What’s wrong?” James asked walking over to Harry’s bed.

“I had a nightmare.” Harry whimpered rushing into his father’s arms for a hug. James softly shushed Harry rubbing his hair in a relaxing motion.

“What was your nightmare about?” Regulus said walking into the dimly light room. Harry sniffled as he recalled the nightmare he had. “Th-there was a-a guy.” Harry croaked, remembering the terrifying nightmare he had.

“H-he came into the house, he killed my dad and my mom…then he-he disappeared.” Harry said, speaking about his two birth parents. Harry had known he was adopted but didn’t care about it, he loved James and Regulus like his own parents.

“Harry,” James cooed hugging his boy closer to his body. “Do you know what this man looked like?” Regulus asked taking a seat next to Harry.

“He-he was white, like a ghost, a-and he didn’t have a nose.” Harry said, James and Regulus looked at each other. “Harry,” Regulus called softly, “this man, did he wield a wand like me our your dad?” Regulus asked rubbing Harry’s back.

“I-it was a white wand like you and dad had.” Harry spoke to Regulus.

“James.”

“I know Reggie.”

“Harry, that man that killed your birth parents is known as Voldemort.” Regulus explained.

“We don’t know much about him, but after he killed your mother he tried to kill you and failed, no one knows where he went or what he was even trying to do, but all we do know is that you are the boy that lived, the only person to ever live after the killing curse.” James explained, he looked towards Regulus sadly.

“Harry, if you have any more nightmares you need to tell me or your dad about them.” Regulus said as Harry looked up to him. “I will,” Harry muttered. “Alright,” Regulus sighed, getting up from the bed to walk toward the exit of the room, leaning of the door frame waiting for James to walk back with him.

“Can I sleep in your bed tonight?” Harry asked using the doggy eyes on James. “Alright, just the one time.” James said, Regulus sighed happily.

James carried Harry onto their room, Regulus following behind them closely. James rested Harry down on the bed, settling next to Harry’s left while Regulus laid down on Harry’s right.

4 year old Harry Potter-Black:

James was in the kitchen when he heard a knock on the door. James wondered who could be coming over so soon, suddenly he heard stomping coming from the stairs and the front door creaking open.

“Sirius!” Harry shouted seeing Sirius in the door. “Hey Harry, how are things?” He asked petting Harry on the head while he walked into the house. “Good! I’m turning five in a few days.” Harry said holding up a full hand with five fingers sticking out.

“Five? Didn’t we celebrate your fourth birthday a little while ago?” Sirius asked as he picked Harry up. “Yeah, a year ago!” Harry giggled, Sirius tossed him softly up in the air.

“Sirius!” Sirius stopped tossing Harry to see his pissed off husband. “Remus,” Sirius smiled sheepishly. Remus Lupin was standing there with a displeasing look on his face.

The light colored scars that were on his face were clearly showing in the light.

“Don’t ‘Remus’ me, how many times do we have to tell you not to toss Harry?” Remus asked quickly taking Harry from Sirius’ arms.

Sirius avoided Remus’ hard stare. Harry smiled but hid it as he shoved his small head into Remus’ neck. Remus scolded Sirius as Harry snickered. One Remus was finished he looked to Harry kissing him on the forehead. “Did Sirius hurt you?” Remus asked softly, as he glared at Sirius.

“No.” Harry laughed hissing his face once more in Remus’ neck.

“That’s good,” Remus said glaring at Sirius. He walked around Sirius and towards the kitchen where James and Regulus were making out on the counter. “Ew!” Harry said loudly, as he noticed his two parental figures making out.

James and Regulus quickly pulled apart. “Remus.” Regulus breathed brushing out his clothes. He pulled away from James who was sitting on the counter in an apron, his legs closed tightly.

“I- uh, didn’t know you guys were here.” Regulus said softly, Remus just stared at them. “Totally,” he rolled his eyes. “Sirius, get in here and great your brother.” Remus said as he noticed Sirius was not next to him.

Sirius slowly walked into the kitchen noticing Regulus and James and how they were far apart. “Hi Reggie.” Sirius said calling him by his nickname. “Sirius,” Regulus said walking over to Sirius and giving him a hug.

James got off the counter and walked to Remus taking Harry in his arms. “Reggie you can let go of me now.” Sirius whispered into Regulus’ ear.

“Regulus,” James said, “get over here.” James said noticing Sirius’ slight discomfort. James nodded to Sirius. “Thanks Prongs,” Sirius said slightly smiling.

“No problem, Pads.” James said softly and watched as Regulus walked over. “Hold Harry,” James said handing Regulus Harry, who was silent.

“Moony, it’s nice to see you.” James said hugging Remus. “The scars look worse than last time.” He noticed as he pulled back from the hug. “Yeah, it’s quite rough now, but Pads is always there for me.” Remus said grabbing Sirius’ hand.

“I’m glad he is, I would have beaten his ass if he didn’t.” James said looking over to Sirius. James hugged Sirius and smiled as he did. “Moony? Pads?” Harry spoke up from Regulus. “Why does daddy call them that?” He asked Regulus.

“Harry, Sirius is an animagus just like James.” Regulus explained softly. “They learned to turn themselves into animals with magic so they could accompany Remus every full moon.” Regulus said.

“Why, what happens to Remus every full moon?” He asked looking at Remus, his eyes lingering on Remus’ scars. “Harry,” Remus said looking at Harry,

“When I was young I was bitten by a man who could turn into a werewolf and for as long as I can remember I have always had a tough time around the full moon. I can turn into a werewolf every full moon and Sirius and James came to help me during these times.” Remus explained, Harry was shocked.

“Aren’t werewolves mythical?” Harry asked softly to Regulus as he stared at Remus his eyes not leaving the scars on his face.

“Harry, we aren’t sure if you’re old enough to learn about this but me, James, Sirius, and Remus are all wizards, and you could be one too.” Regulus explained, rubbing Harry’s head.

“Wizards? Is that those sparkly things you guys produced from your wands when I was little?” Harry asked remembering the speaks from when he was little.

“Yes,” Sirius said taking out his wand. The wand was beautiful with traces of symbols on the wand. “Expecto Patronum,” Sirius muttered softly, a dog suddenly came out from his wand and started running around.

“Doggy!” Harry yells as he watches the light blue transparent dog run through the kitchen. “Can I play with the dog?” Harry asked excitedly. “The dog is not real Harry, it magic, look at Sirius’ wand.” Regulus mumble to Harry as he pointed to Sirius’ wand the tip of the wand was glowing a light blue.

“Cool! Can I try?” Harry asked reaching for Sirius’ wand. “No Harry.” Remus said, looking at Harry sadly. “You aren’t old enough nor have you had any training with magic yet.”

Harry’s face dropped as he couldn’t play with the dog or do magic with the wand. “Can you preform more magic?” Harry asked softly. The adults smiled and did as the four year old soon to be five year old asked.

5 year old Harry Potter-Black:

“Dad?” Harry asked out loud as the family was resting on the couch watching a movie. “Yes?” Regulus said, he looked to Harry who was in between Regulus and James on the couch.

“Is there a school I’m going to go to for magic?” He asked randomly. “What’s with this random question?” James asked sitting up on the couch. “I wanna become a wizard!” Harry said excitingly.

James and Regulus looked at each other. “Harry, as we’ve said before we don’t know if you’re going to get into this wizarding stuff not until your eleventh birthday.”

Harry pouted, he crossed his arms and sunk back into the couch. “But why?” He asked. “Hogwarts is really weird like that.” Regulus said, he wrapped his arm over the couch, his hand rested against James’ shoulder.

“Don’t worry, you’re going to be fine I have no doubt in my mind that you’ll get it.” James said poking Harry’s skinny body. Harry broke his stern faze as he started to laugh.

“Why can’t it be sooner?” Harry asked sighing as he did so. “You should take it up with Dumbledore when you meet him.” James said sighing and looking back to the movie.

“Dumbledore?” Harry asked, he’s never heard that name. “Dumbledore is the head teacher, like a principal of the school.” Regulus explained as he too watched the movie. “Cool, his name sounds funny.” Harry laughed watching the rest of the movie.

11 year old Harry Potter-Black (I’m cutting the time quick to get to the juicy bits😋)

“Harry!” James yelled from the door. “Come here!” He yelled quickly as he saw the Hogwarts letter resting on the ground in there house. “Yes?” Harry asked as he walked from his room.

Harry had grown a lot since he was five years old. His baby chub was all gone, his body was skinny with a little muscle grabbing on here and there. He still had his glasses and wasn’t going to get rid of them soon.

He still had a lightning shape scar on his forehead, his hair a bit longer than when he was 5. “Your letter came,” James said holding up the Hogwarts letter. “The letter?” Harry asked looking at the letter.

“From Hogwarts!” He yelled quickly taking the letter from James’ hand to rip it open. “Dear Mr. Harry Potter-Black,” Harry read out loud. “We would like to inform you that have been excepted into the Hogwarts school for witch craft and wizardry.” He said excitingly.

“Reggie!” James yelled, Regulus came walking into the hallway. “Yes?” He asked softly and tiredly, he had just gotten back from. “Harry just got in to Hogwarts!” He said excitingly. Regulus looked happy and excited as he looked at Harry.

“Congratulations!” He said excitingly. “That’s amazing!” He said, he went behind James wrapping his arms around his husband’s waist. “We will have to take you to Diagon Ally for all your school supplies.” Regulus said.

“Diagon Ally?” Harry asked the name sounded funny on his tongue. “Sounds cool, and funny.” He laughed softly. “Well, we’ll go today get all your stuff so you’ll be all set for the first day of school, you’re going to have a blast.” James said remembering his first year at Hogwarts.

The family went to gringots getting money out of a bank Harry’s birth parents had given to him in their will. The family then headed to Diagon ally.

Shops lined the walls, some were crooked and weirdly shaped. “Now Harry,” James said Harry couldn’t pull his eyes away from the shops.

“You’re going to need Uniform: Three sets of plain work robes (black). One plain pointed hat (black) for day wear. One pair of protective gloves (dragon hide or similar). One winter cloak (black, silver fastenings). Please note that all student's clothes should carry name tags at all times.

James read off. “All that? It seems like a lot.” Harry mumbled. Regulus looked over James’ shoulder seeing the long list. “Harry you can get a wand from Ollivanders. That’s where, me, Regulus, Sirius, and Remus got our wands.” James said looking down at the shops to find Ollivanders.

“There,” James pointed to a shop down the ally. “Go on in Ollivanders, don’t be nervous, Ollivander is a nice guy.” James said he slowly pushed Harry towards the shop. “We will get all of your necessities that you will need.” Regulus said, he slowly pulled James away from Harry to get other things Harry would need.

Harry slowly walked down the ally towards the shop. He opened the door only to bump into someone. “Sorry,” Harry said to the person. They didn’t say anything and instead walked around Harry.

Harry walked into Ollivanders and looked around the shop. “Hello?” He asked as he did not see anyone in the shop, though there was someone just in here.

Suddenly an old man, Harry assumed it was Ollivander, came into view on a rolling ladder. “My god,” he whispered looking at the boy. “I wondered when you’d come here.” He said getting down off the ladder.

“I feel like it was just the other day your adoptive family walked in a got their wands.” He muttered loudly, he walked around the shop filled with wands looking for one. He took one out and handed it to Harry. “Here, give it a wave.” He said and Harry waved the wand.

Multiple drawers started to fly out from there spots, papers flying everywhere. Harry quickly placed down the wand. “That’s not it.” Ollivander mumbled walking around the seat towards another wall of wands.

Ollivander grabbed a new wand. He handed it lightly to Harry. “Try this one.” He said handing the wand to Harry. Harry flicked the wand effortlessly and a nearby vase exploded.

“Nope, nope definitely not!” He yelled walking back around the desk and under a bridge of wands towards one specific. Harry quickly placed down the wand on the desk.

“I wonder…” Ollivander whispered, pulling a wand from the stack and walking back to Harry. “Try this one.” He said, Harry picked up the wand and light flowed above him. “Interesting, very interesting.” Ollivander muttered.

“This wand was made with a Phoenix feather, the Phoenix was willing to give one other feather. That wand belongs to the man that gave you that scar.” Ollivander said pointing to Harry’s head where his scar lay.

“Thank you,” Harry said shyly. Suddenly there was knocking on the glass. Harry turned to see James and Regulus standing there carrying a cage with a white owl inside. “Happy birthday Harry!” They shouted excitedly. Harry smiled.

After all the shopping, the family had headed to a nearby restaurant to get something to eat. They ate quietly until Harry spoke up. “While I was at Ollivanders he brought up the man who killed my birth parents.” Suddenly James and Regulus stopped eating. “He said that the man gave me this scar.” Harry said moving his hair out of his face to show off his scar.

“Harry,” James said grasping Harry’s free hand. “The man that killed your parents, is someone whose name should never be uttered.” James voice was soft and scared as he spoke.

“They call him the dark lord, his real name is Voldemort.” Regulus said the name softly. “Voldemort?” Harry asked, the parents shushed him quickly. “You shouldn’t utter his name.” Regulus said softly, “I only told you since I wanted you to know.”

“Many people say that after that night he disappeared never to be seen again, but others still think he’s out there.” James muttered, the families area was suddenly filled with thick heavy air. “We shouldn’t talk about this out in the open Harry if you have any questions, do not be afraid to ask us.” Regulus said. Harry nodded his head.

As the days went on the day grew closer when Harry would go to Hogwarts and he was nervous.

The day came and the family walked around the train station. “Platform Nine and three quarters?” Harry asked as he looked down at the ticket. “Yes,” James said leading the family towards the platform. Once they got to the entrance to Nine and three quarters James, Regulus, and Harry saw an orange haired family standing next to them.

“You got a first year as well?” James asked the woman who was standing next to a little orange haired girl. “Yes,” she answered sweetly, “my son Ronald.” She said pushing her son forward. “Ronald, this is Harry’s first time to.” James said introducing his adoptive son to Ronald.

“Hello.” Harry waved to the orange haired kid. “Hi.” Ronald waved back. “Harry,” Regulus said putting his hands on Harry’s shoulders, “Run through the wall, me and your dad will be right behind you.” He said.

“It’s good if you get a running start.” The orange haired woman added. Regulus smiled at her feed back. Harry took a deep breath as he pushed the trolly forward into the brick wall.

He closed his eyes and easily passed through the wall. Harry was breathing heavily as he did so. Regulus and James came shortly after Harry. They helped Harry load everything onto the train and wished him a goodbye reminding him that if he ever got home sick he could always write to them.

James threatened Harry, that if he didn’t write to him about his school life he would personally come to Hogwarts and shake the information out of him. Harry smiled at them, the train whistle loudly. Harry hugged James and Regulus one last time and he was on the train riding towards Hogwarts.

About halfway through the trip the same orange haired boy came up to Harry. “Do you mind if I sit with you, all the other carts are full.” He said shyly. “Yeah sure.” Harry said. “So your the boy that lived right, I noticed the scar.” Ronald said touching his own forehead.

“Yeah,” Harry said and looked out the window. “Does it hurt?” Ron asked. “No not really.” Harry answered.

Silence fell between them, it was comfortable. An old lady pushing around a trolly came up to their cart. “Anything from the trolly?” She asked. Ron sighed pulling out a weird looking sandwich. “I’m all set, my mum packed me a sandwich.” He said sounding sad about it.

Harry could tell that Ronald was sad. He held out a few gold piece holding them out to the old lady. “We’ll take the lot.” He said confidently.

There trolly was now filled with empty candy boxes. “That was brilliant.” Ron said as he was finishing eating his chocolate frogs. A fat rat was sat on his lap, Scapers is what he called him.

A girl with big poffy brown hair came up to them. “Have you seen a toad?” She asked quickly giving the boys no time to register what she said. “A bit named Neveil lost it.” She said, she gasped as she recognised Harry.

“You’re the boy who lived!” She exclaimed walking into the cart. “I’m Hermione Granger,” she stuck out her hand. “Harry Potter-Black.” Harry said shaking her hand.

“Lovely to meet you.” She said then she looked to Ron. “And you are?” She asked. “Ronald Weasley.” He said through a mouthful of chocolate. “Charmed.” She said looking him up and down.

She got up and went to leave to look in another cart for the toad. She looked back quickly. “You two should change into your robes, I’m assuming we are going to be there soon.” She said walking away from the cart.

“Brilliantly that one.” Ronald said snarky. Harry smiled softly.

Buy the time they reached Hogwarts it was night, a tall half giant was standing on the platform carrying a torch in his hand.

“First years come with me!” He yelled walking towards boats that were floating in a pitch black lake. As the boat rowed themselves towards the shore of Hogwarts all the first years stared at the castle school in front of them.

The students walked into the school and were greeted by a professor. “Hello,” her old voice reminded everyone of a grandmother they had.

“I am professor McGonagall, the head of the Gryffindor house. In a few moments you are going to walk in through these doors and you will be sorted into your house, there is Racenclaw, Huffelpuff, Gryffindor, and Slytherin. These houses will be like your family, now stay here.” She said walking into the dinning hall leaving the student on the steps.

“So it’s true,” a platinum blonde haired boy spoke up. “The boy who lived has come to Hogwarts.” He said walking up the Harry who was up in front. “I’m Malfoy, Draco Malfoy.” He said sticking out his hand for Harry to shake. “Harry Potter-Black.” He said shaking Draco’s hand.

That was the only interaction the two had before McGonagall had come back leading the students towards the front.

“I will call you up by name and place the sorting hat on your head, it will then give you a house to be with.” She said and looked to the list. “Hermione Granger?” She said.

Hermione froze but then quickly walked up muttering to herself to be calm and that everything will be fine. McGonagall placed the hat on Hermione’s head.

“Gryffindor!” The hat yelled, Hermione visibly relaxed. She got off the chair and sat at the Gryffindor table. “Draco Malfoy?” McGonagall called. The platinum blond boy smugly walked up the steps towards the sorting hat.

Before the hat touched his head it screamed. “Slytherin!” Draco smirked, the Slytherin house cheered as Draco walked towards the Slytherin table.

“Ronald Weasley?” McGonagall called. Ron walked up stiffly. The sorting hat was placed on his head. “Ah,” the sorting hat started. “Another Weasley, that’ll be…Gryffindor!” The sorting hat said Ron melted as soon as the words came from the sorting hats mouth. Ron walked towards the table with his family.

“Harry Potter-Black?” McGonagall called. Everyone was silent. They all watched as Harry walked up the stairs towards the sorting hat.

“Ah, a brave heart, courage as well. But dark thing to come, what to do what to do.” The sorting hat stalled. No one had ever seen the sorting hat stall like this. “Hmm,” the sorting hat said, he was conflicted with which house to put this boy in. “Slythering!” It yelled.

The Slytherin household broke out in applause. Harry took a seat next to the platinum blond haired boy he had meet earlier. “Looks like we’re going to be seeing each other a lot more.” Draco smiled. Harry smiled back. “Yes, I guess we will.”
