The Boyfriend And The Stone?
Dumbledore had watched Harry Potter-Black take his seat at the Slytherin table. He was impressed with the house he was sat at. Harry looked over to the Professors table seeing Dumbledore looking at him and raising his wine glass towards Harry and taking a sip from it.
After all the student were sorted Dumbledore stood. “Let the feast,” he paused briefly, “begin.” He said and rows soon rows of food suddenly appeared. Harry stared at the food. “Woah!” He said. Draco who was already grabbing some food looked at Harry.
“Grab some food, it’s not going to run out.” Draco said with a laugh. Harry then began to grab at the food putting some on his plate. As he ate he talked with the new students who were also sorted into Slytherin, mostly Draco. Once everyone was done eating the prefix’s showed the students to there dorms.
The Slytherin prefix walked downwards to the dungeon. He walked up to a painting and said the password and opened the door. All the first years stared at the door opening. Draco and Harry looked at each other in amazement. It was so cool to see this for the first time. “Follow me please.” The prefix said walking into the dorm.
The dorm hangout area was beautiful, it was dark and eerie but spacious. “Boys dorms to the left, Girls to the right. All your stuff should be by your bed and in the room. I suggest you all get lots of sleep for your first day.” The prefix said. The boys looked to each other than at the girls.
“Boys do not get any funny business, there’s a spell that does not allow boys to walk up the girls stair case.” The prefix said, most of the boys groaned. “Now, up to bed.” The prefix said.
After a few hours most of the boys were asleep, all except Harry. He was busy writing to his dads. He was writing about how he had gotten into Slytherin, meeting a few people he would consider friends. And how he loved it already.
He had stopped writing when someone asked him what he was doing. “What are you doing up?” It was the familiar voice of Draco Malfoy. “I’m writing to my father’s.” Harry said as he folded the letter quickly and placed it in the drawer to send off tomorrow.
“Fathers? You have two dads?” Draco asked, he was a little shocked. “Yeah, I’m adoptive.” He giggled a little, it was softly as to not wake the other student around them. “I don’t judge, it’s kinda rare to see two fathers.” Draco smiled, though his smile could not be seen through the darkness.
“Yep, I also have two uncles that aren’t really my uncles they’re like family friend uncles.” Harry said as he slowly got into bed. “There gay as well?” Draco asked, Harry nodded his head. “Yeah, they’re married too.” Harry said, silence fell between them.
“That’s cool, I’m going to sleep now. Goodnight Harry.” Draco said rolling into his side and start to fall asleep. “Goodnight Draco.” Harry muttered also falling asleep.
In the morning, all the first years had English with Professor McGonagall. Harry was sitting next to Draco, all the Slytherin kids were wearing robes embroidered with a green crest with a silver snake slithering through them.
Harry was writing since the cat that was sitting on the desk was McGonagall. He, Draco, and the rest of the kids in the class were silent as they wrote in there journals. The doors to the room opened and an orange haired boy came running it.
“Ron?” Harry said watching the boy quickly walk to an empty seat which was next to Harry at the table next to his. “That god McGonagall isn’t here.” He whispered to Harry. Ron breathed a sigh of relief and took out his journal.
The cat sitting on the desk transformed into Professor McGonagall. Ron stared at the professor for a bit before speaking. “That was bloody brilliant.” He said looking at the teacher. “Maybe I should transfigure you into a clock maybe you’ll be on time.” She huffed.
Ron’s hands became sweaty. “I-I got lost.” He said looking down at the desk. “Well maybe you should get a map.” She smiled then turned back to the board and began to teach.
The students were sitting in potions class waiting for the teacher to come. The students were talking to each other when the door busted open.
Severus Snape walked into the room. “There will be no foolish wand waving or anything of the sorts.” He said his mono tone voice go in one ear and out the other for some. Harry was sitting next to Draco, with Ron and Hermione on his other side.
“I will teach you how to…” As Snape went on about what he was going to do, multiple students were starting to regret coming to this class. Once he was done he stared at Harry.
“It looks like we have a new star in our class.” His voice was very solid as he spoke. “Tell me Mr. Potter-Black do you know what happens if I mix…” Harry didn’t hear the rest as it went in one ear and out the other.
“No, sir sorry.” He said apologetically. Draco frowned at Harry’s answer. “That’s a shame,” he muttered he then went on the teach the class more about potions. Not that it was important, it was just an intro to potion.
At the Slytherin dinning table Draco and Harry were sitting next to each other talking when owls started to screech from above. “What’s that?” Harry asked, looking at the owls that were coming from a window opening in the ceiling.
“Mail, you’ve never gotten any?” Draco asked as a small parcel dropped lightly in his hands. “Not really.” Harry said, but suddenly a letter started floating down and into his hands.
“Well looks like you got some today.” Draco said and he opened his present, it was just mindless stuff that his father had gotten him. “It’s from my dad’s.” Harry said and quickly opened it.
Harry read it quickly with Malfoy looking over his shoulder to see what was written on the paper. “What’s it say?” Draco asked leaning on Harry’s shoulder. “My dads are proud that I’ve made some friends shocked that I got into Slytherin, but they also asked about my classes and how things are going so far.” Harry explained, Draco just smiled. “That’s cool, my parents never send me any letters just gifts. You want it?” Draco asked holding his new pen quill to Harry.
“I can’t take that, your father gave it to you.” Harry said, but Draco placed it in his lap. “Take it I already have millions of these.” Draco said he then rested his head down on the table as he stared at Harry. “Thank you,” Harry said, carefully Harry placed the quill in his bag.
“Alright!” The quidditch coach yelled scaring some students. “I want you all to hold you right arm out over you broom hold you hand open and say ‘Up.’” She said. When the students did not move she then yelled at them to move.
Harry was standing next to Draco, he was on Harry’s left while Ron and Hermione were in his right. Everyone shouted up at once, only two brooms came up. Harry’s and Draco’s.
They looked at one and other as they did so. “Nice going Harry.” Draco said. “You too.” Harry said. While Harry and Draco were talking with one and other, Ron finally got his broom up, though it hit his face and went straight back down. Hermione was having a tough time getting her broom into her hands it kept rolling around on the ground.
Once all the students got their brooms in their hands the coach spoke loudly once more. “Now, I want you all to mount your brooms and kick off the ground, hover in the air then land.” She said walking up and down the line of children.
“On my whistle.” She said blowing the whistle loudly. Suddenly a boy from Gryffindor started to float in the air. He got higher and higher. The coach worried telling him to get down. When he did not the coach got mad but the boy was already off flying around the yard.
He wasn’t able to control the broom and ended up flying into a statue. The statues sword caught him by the robes. The robes broke under his weight, he quickly fell to the ground breaking his wrist.
The coach came up to him and helped him to the nurses office. “I don’t want anyone off the ground you hear me, anyone who’s feet leaves the ground will be out of Hogwarts before you could say Quidditch.” She said taking the boy to the nurses office.
Draco picked up the remeberall that the boy had gotten from his grandmother. “Maybe if he had given this a squeeze he would have remembered to sit on his fat ass.” Draco laughed, his friends laughing with him. Harry on the other hand would not stand for this.
“Give it here Draco.” Harry said holding out his hand for Draco to drop the remeberall. “Hmm, you’re no fun, Harry.” Draco said kicking off the ground and flying into the air. “Harry, no way you heard what Madame Hooche said.” Hermione said trying to stop Harry.
Instead of listening to her Harry took off quickly. “What an idiot.” She said watching as Harry took off into the air.
“Give it here Draco.” Harry yelled softly more focused on trying to stay on his broom. “Maybe,” he teased tossing the remeberall in the air. Harry reached for it quickly trying to get it out of Draco’s hand.
“Why stick up for those Gryffindors?” Draco asked smugly as he threw the ball in his hair. “Cause they’re our peers.” Harry said diving once more at the object. “And being nice to everyone is the right thing to do.” Harry said getting close to Draco to get the object.
“If you want to be so nice why don’t you go get it?” Draco said throwing the rememberall. The ball flew in the air, Harry watched as it soared. He quickly rushed forward to catch the ball.
The remberall was heading towards the castle and would likely shatter once it made contact with anything. Harry sped up quickly getting in front of the ball and catching it. He spun on this broom from the quick catch. He tossed the ball in his hands but quickly stopped when he felt unsteady on his broom.
Harry slowly came down to hear all the students cheering. He got off the broom and was enveloped by the crowd. “That was brilliant.” Ron said, more cheers and congratulations were heard.
As the crowd congratulated Harry, McGonagall walked down to the students on the field. “Mr. Potter-Black!” McGonagall said loudly, the crowd calmed down as the professor looked at Harry. “Come with me.” She said and walked towards the castle.
The students oohed as Harry walked behind McGonagall they walked around the castle until they reached a certain room. “Wait here.” McGonagall said and walk towards the room. “Professor Quirel do you mind if I borrowed Mr. Wood please?” She asked. The Professor softly nodded his head, “y-yeah.” He muttered.
The kid Oliver Wood stood up and walked out of the class with McGonaga. “I have found you a seeker.” She said looking happy at Harry. “Slytherin aye?” Oliver said noticing the Green and Grey crescent on his robes. Oliver had smiled as he looked at Harry.
“I want you to teach him how to play.” McGonagall said, “consider this a free period where you’ll teach him.” She said and left the two of them.
“A seeker?” Ron asked as he and Harry walked down the corridor. Harry nodded his head. “You must be the youngest Seeker of the century.” Ron exclaimed, looking at Harry. Fred and George came up behind them.
“Good job Harry.” One twin says, “you’ll do fine.” Says the other. “No one really gets hurt,” Fred said, “but people do get lost.” George shouted as Ron and Harry walked out into the greenery. “But they turn up in a month or two!” The shouted snickering to each other. “Ignore them Harry, they’re trying to be idiots.” Ron said, Hermione joined them.
The group of three walked toward the Gryffindor commons room, when the stair case started to shift. The three students held on to the railing for support.
The staircase moved to the restricted area on the third floor. “Let’s get going before the stairs move anymore.” Harry said quickly running up the stairs. “But this is the third floor, we aren’t allowed to be in here.” Hermione said walking up behind Harry and Ron.
The door opens revealing a dark corridor, the golden trio steps inside. “Does anyone feel like we shouldn’t be here?” Ron asked feeling a shiver run up his spine. A goblet of fire lit quickly as the trio entered.
A cats meow scared them all, they turned to see Filtches cat standing there meowing at them. “It’s Filtches cat!” Harry said, “run.” He yelled as he started to run down the corridor, Hermione and Ron quickly followed. Torches of lights lit up magically as the trio ran. They then bodied a heavy locked door.
“It’s locked!” Ron yelled still trying to open the door. Hermione wanted to cuss Ron out but instead pushed him out of the way. “Alohamora!” She yelled and the door opened, quickly the trio ran inside closeting the door quickly.
Filtch walked in the corridor holding a torch up to shine light down it. “What is it my sweet?” He asked looking down at his cat then to the end of the corridor. After he didn’t see anything, he and the cat left after seeing no one was in the corridor.
“I think Filtch is gone.” Harry mumbled, he was looking through the key hole to see Filtch and the cat was gone. When he didn’t hear anything from Ron, or Hermione, he turned to look at them.
The words in his mouth died as he saw a giant three headed dog waking up and looking at the trio. The dog growled and started to attack the trio. Luckily they were fast, screaming though, they were able to get out of the door they had come. All three had to lean on the door to keep it closed from the dog.
They all sighed a breath of relief and slid down the door. “That dog is defiantly hiding something.” Hermione spoke after a few quiet moments. “How so?” Harry asked he had started to get up, helping both Ron and Hermione up as well. “It was standing on something.” She said, Ron stared at her. “A trap door.” He said remembering what the dog was sitting on.
“Yes, which means it’s not here by accident it must be-“ Hermione was cut off by Harry and his realization. “Guarding something.” He said his eye widening as he made the realization.
“That’s right.” She said, she then started up a stair case. “Now if you don’t mind I’m going to get some sleep before you two figure out another way for us to get us in trouble or worse expelled.” She said heading up the stair case. Ron followed her close behind, while Harry walked down to the dungeon.
“Where have you been?” Draco asked softly as he noticed Harry coming into the dorms bed room. “Off, with friends.” Harry lied. “That stunt you pulled with the rememberall wasn’t nice Draco.” Harry mumbled getting changed into his nightly wear. “Sorry, I was just trying to be funny.” He said eyeing Harry’s body as the boy changed.
“Well it wasn’t,” Harry snapped softly as to not wake the other students. “Goodnight Draco.” Harry said getting under his covers and going to sleep. “Goodnight Harry.” Draco said softly also falling asleep.
Oliver had Harry help him carry the heavy box of Quidditch material out onto the open field that was occupied by him and his peers for broom stick training. “Down here is fine.” Oliver said placing his side of the box down. Harry also placed his side down.
“Seeker, your adoptive father James was a seeker when he was your age.” Oliver said softly. Oliver opened the Quidditch box, there were two chained down balls on either side of a quwaffle ball. The two chained down balls were trying to escape their chains, the quwaffle was just resting there next to the two of them.
“Really?” Harry asked looking up at Oliver. “Yes, in one of the trolley cases James’ name is there.” Oliver said he took out a small bat and handed it to Harry.
“You’re going to need this.” Oliver said as Harry took the bat in his hands. He stared at the bat wondering what to do with it. Oliver pressed a button on the box releasing the bludger in the air. The thing soared high before it came down to earth quickly going for Harry.
Harry used the bat and swung at the Bludger, the bludger flew towards a statue and in between the two arms the statue was holding up. “Holy shit,” Oliver muttered, watching the ball go through the look alike goal.
“Here it comes.” Oliver said, seeing the Bludger coming back to them. Oliver got ready to catch the Bludger quickly tackling it to the ground. “Help me get it into the box.” He said struggling to move the bludger.
Harry helped and between the two of them they successfully got the Bludger back into the box, locking it in place. “Those two are Bludgers, nasty things they are.” Oliver said as he got up from the ground, whipping the dirt off his clothes.
“You, don’t need to worry about those.” Oliver said as he opened a small little hatch on the box revealing a small golden ball. “This is what you need to worry about.” Oliver said handing the snitch to Harry. “The snitch is the misted important thing for the seeker. You catch this we win the game and get 150 points.” Oliver explained, the snitches wing unfolded from its round body and started hovering in Harry’s hand.
The snitch started to quickly zip away before Harry caught it. “And this,” Oliver said taking out the quwaffle. “Is the quwaffle, this is what scores us the points other than the snitch.” Oliver said tossing the quwaffle to Harry.
“You have nothing to be afraid of Quidditch is a fun game once you know how to play it.” Oliver said, taking the quwaffle out of Harry’s hands and placing it back in the box.
A short teacher, Professor Flitwick, stood at the front of the class. His long white wisps of hair were sticking out everywhere. Harry was sitting next to Draco and a boy with a round face, rumor had it he could blow stuff up with any spell. Harry was sorta nervous sitting next to him but let it be as the teacher talked.
“Now,” Professor Flitwick started, “we all remember the swish and flick motion we have been practicing, we are going to try it with a spell.” He said, he was holding out a white long feather.
The professor took out his wand, carefully he swished and flicked his wand saying the spell as well. “Wingardium Leviosa.” He said and the feather began to float out of his hand. The professor allowed the feather to go up and up. “Now,” he said breaking contact with the feather. “I want you all to try, remember now swish and flick.”
The students said the spell and tried their hardest to swish and flick just to get the feather to hover or float for a bit. Harry and Draco were trying their hardest when suddenly the professor spoke up.
“Well done, one of our students has done it.” He cheered looking at Hermione. She was pleased and had a smug look on her face as she looked at Ron. Harry didn’t know what they were talking about and wondered what it was but a loud explosion sounded next to him.
The boy next to him his feather was flying, and smoking as it went up in flames. “Uh, professor?” Harry said looking at the boy who had a stunned face. “I think we are going to need a new feather.” He said, trying not to laugh. Draco was stifling laughter.
Harry walked out of the classroom with Ron next to him they talked about the class they were just in. “It’s not Levi-o-saahh, it’s Levi-oohh-sa.” Ron teased to Harry. Suddenly Hermione walked passed them tears falling from her eyes. “I think she heard you.” Harry said softly looking at Ron the towards Hermione.
Latter in the day Harry had gotten Owl Mail from his father. He hadn’t written to James in a while so his letter was quite long. He was sitting on the dinning table next to Draco reading the long letters his fathers had sent him. “Damn, what did they send an essay?” Draco asked as he looked over Harry’s shoulder quickly glancing over at the letter.
“There talking about me getting on the Quidditch team, how they are exciting about everything they are hearing and they are wondering if I’m going to head home for Christmas.” Harry send someone up the quick version of the letter.
“Are you going home for Christmas?” Draco asked resting his head against Harry’s shoulder. “I don’t know yet, what about you?” Harry asked, turning his head to look at Draco. Their faces were inches apart.
“My father is going to have me back home, though I’d rather spend more time here.” Draco sighed quickly getting off Harry’s shoulder. His face was sorta bright red from being so close to Harry.
“That sounds terrible.” Harry said reading more of his letter. “It is,” Draco sighed.
Later on during Dinner time, the dinning room was loud filled with excitement as floating pumpkins floated in the darkened sky. It was Halloween after all. Draco and Harry sat next to each other. They were sitting and chatting with some friends, Harry was chatting across the dinning room to Ron, he was wondering where Hermione was.
“Where’s Hermione?” He asked looking around for her. “She’s in the girls bathroom crying.” Another Gryffindor student said. Ron and Harry looked at each other. There friend was just going through a hard time and she needed some time to her self.
As the dinner was coming to its high Professor Quirrell came in running quickly. “Troll!” He yelled loudly, shushing the entire room. “Troll in the dungeon!” He yelled stopping in the middle of the dinning room. He stopped and started to pale.
“I thought you all should know.” He said and passed out. The students all around were quiet for a millisecond before bursting out yelling and screaming with terror. “Silence!” Dumbledore yelled shushing the entire group of panicked students.
“Head Prefix’s I want you to take everyone back to the dorms.” Dumbledore said. Everyone got up quickly the students followed the Prefixes to their dorms trying not to panic as lightning flashed around them.
Harry was walking next to Draco and Ron heading back to the Slytherin common room when he remembered Hermione. “What about Hermione?” Harry asked to Ron. “She doesn’t know about the troll.” Harry said pulling Ron away from the crowd to go and get Hermione.
They walked around looking for Hermione, they head to the bathroom Hermione would most like to be.
The troll, stupid as he was, found the girls bathroom and walked in it, he found Hermione washing her face and went to attack her. She screamed alerting Harry and Ron to her location.
“Hermione!” The two boys yelled running towards the screaming. They found the troll trying to take a swing at Hermione. “Distract it!” She yelled dodging the swing.
“With what?”Harry and Ron grab anything they can and begin to hurl it at the troll, but they might as well be throwing marshmallows.
As shards of wood bounce off its pint-sized head and great lumpy shoulders, the troll brings the club down once more and shatters the last stall. As Harry and Ron look on grimly, the troll jabs its club into the hash of wood before it, poking about for Hermione, when, at the last second she scrambles out and dashes under the sink. grunting furiously, the troll turns, begins to advance on her.
Harry, thinking fast, rushes forward and leaps upon the troll's rising club rising himself right out of frame and then dropping right onto the troll's slimy neck. The troll blinks dimly and, befoseralght up the trail's purely on instinct -shoves
The troll roars in pain, dropping the club and stamping about. Ron watches helplessly, then glances at the club on the floor, an idea flickering across his face. Raising his wand, he speaks. “Wingardium Leviosa.” Ron yells swishing and flicking. Harry swings around, sees Ron standing, wand poised. It does not inspire confidence. Ron looks at Hermione, takes a breath, and this time, employs the correct pronunciation.
“Wingardium LEVI-OHHHH-SA!” Ron shouted swishing and flicking his wand towards the club.
With that, the club quivers upon the floor...begins to rise.
The troll, still raging, grabs Harry's leg and peels him off his body. As he holds Harry up high, suspended by one leg, Harry's world goes upside down, spinning, when the club floats by his face. The troll magical nas the club rises toward the ceiling, hanging an in magical suspension until…
Thunk! It drops smack on the troll's head. Wobbling, the troll releases its grip on Harry's leg and drops him hard to the floor. Harry peers up. The troll wobbles one last time and starts to fall directly on top of Harry. Quickly, Harry rolls away just before the troll slams to the floor, inches away. All is quiet for a moment. Then Hermione steps forward.
“Is it dead?” She asked looking at the trolls unconscious body. “I hope not.” Ron muttered as he bent down to take the black smooth wand out from the trolls nose. “Ew, troll bogies.” Ron muttered as he handed the wand to Harry. Harry took the wand in his hand whipping it off before shivering unpleasantly.
Loud footsteps were heard quickly approaching the trios location. McGonagall, Snape, and Quirrell all stood there looking at the unconscious troll and the three small students standing there.
“How did this happen?” McGonagall asked shocked at the sight in front of her. The trio stayed quiet with Harry and Ron wanting to speak up before Hermione spoke.
“I went looking for the troll,” she started quickly looking at McGonagall. McGonagall stared at Hermione. “I had read that they were easy to defeat and so I went to defeat it, luckily Harry and Ron saved me.” She lied. McGonagall sighed as she was angry with Hermione.
“Five points will be taken from your house.” McGonagall said looking at Hermione. “And ten points,” she paused, the trio held their breath. “Will be rewarded to both of your houses, for sheer dumb luck.” She said, Harry, Ron, and Hermione smiled and quickly left the bathroom leaving Snape, Quirrell, and McGonagall to deal with the troll.
Harry split up with the two Gryffindors heading towards the Slytherin common room, where he was confronted by Draco. “Where did you go?” He asked a little angrily as he did so.
“I went to go save my friend.” He said, he rested on the couch next to Draco. “Why? There was a troll attack you could have been injured.” Draco said looking at Harry’s body for any injuries. “Because she my friend and she was in trouble.” Harry sighed looking at Draco.
“Alright, I’m going to bed, see yeah.” Draco said getting up from the couch and heading up the stair case towards the beds. “Goodnight, Draco.” Harry said watching Draco walk up the staircase. “Goodnight, Harry.” Draco said, as he disappeared from Harry’s sight.
Harry sighed releasing stress from his body, and finally decided to head to his bed. He saw that everyone was asleep, even Draco and decided to write to his father talking about how he took down a troll.
James would probably beat his ass, while Regulus would ask him if he won, which he did.
In the morning, Harry was nervous. His first Quidditch match was today and he was not eating. “Harry,” Draco said looking over to the very pale boy. “You need to eat something.” He said and put a little food on Harry’s plate.
“I can’t,” Harry said, “I feel like I’m going to be sick.” He said clutching his stomach. “Just try,” Draco said, he was getting a little worried for his friend. Even though Harry was playing for the Gryffindor team he was still routing for Harry to win.
Though Gryffindor was going up against Slytherin, Draco was routing for Harry and Harry only. “You have to eat before your game, even if it’s something small just anything would be fine.” Draco said as he handed small light things to Harry placing them in his plate.
Harry did eat some small things that were provided to him by Draco. The Owl mail had come that same time.
Draco had gotten another small package from his owl, while Harry got a letter from his father’s, and a weirdly shaped parcel. Before Harry got a chance to open anything Draco asked him a question.
“You want it?” Draco asked not even bothering to open the package. “But it’s for you?” Harry said and he began to open his letter. “I don’t care, you can have it.” Draco said placing the package in front of Harry.
“What’s your letter say?” Draco asked looking over at the letter. “It’s my dad, he told me to relax and that I’ll do fine. He and my other dad got me a broom with McGonagalls permission.” Harry summed up as he skimmed over the letter. His father’s hand writing making him feel happy and like he was at home.
“Can I open it?” Draco asked as he eyed Harry. “Yes,” Harry said as he stared at the words on the letter. As Draco pulled apart the wrapping off of the broom revealing a Nimbus two thousand. It was beautiful.
“Woah,” Harry said staring at the broom. “You’re so lucky.” Draco said as he took stared at the broom. Harry glanced to McGonagall, she just smiled at him, Harry smiled back.
Harry was ready he couldn’t wait to start.
The stadium is full. Ron and Hermione join Neville and Seamus in the Gryffindor section, unfurl a banner that reads POTTER-BLACK FOR PRESIDENT. As the Slytherin and Gryffindor teams take the field, the crowd roars. Oliver Wood runs up alongside a nervous Harry, who clutches his new Nimbus 2000. “I know what you're thinking, Harry. I'm playing my first game of Quidditch, the entire school's watching me and, worst of all, it's against Slytherin. Am I right?” Oliver asked softly, as he leaned into talk to Harry. “Pretty close.” Harry laughed light heartedly. “It's all right. I felt the same way before my first game.” Oliver smiled.
“What happened?” Harry asked concerned now about what happened to Oliver. “I don't really remember. I took a Bludger to the head about two minutes in and woke up in the hospital a week later.” That was not making Harry feel any better.
Madame Hooch, clad in referee robes, addresses the players.
“Now, I want a nice clean game. From all of you.” She glances tellingly at Slytherin Captain Marcus Flint. Harry leans over to Angelina Johnson, Gryffindor Chaser. “Who's he, Angelina?” Harry asked staring at the Slytherin captain. He should have known who he was but he never talked to anyone other than Draco.
“Marcus Flint. Slytherin Captain. They say he's got troll blood in him.” Harry swallows as Flint glares at him murderously.
“Mount your brooms, please.” Madam Hooch said loudly. Hands trembling, Harry waits, then... the whistle blasts:
Fourteen broomsticks rise into the air.
As the crowd roars, Madam Hooch kicks the crate, releasing two screaming. Bludgers, then tosses up the Quaffle. In the stands, Lee Jordan does commentary. “Quaffle's up...and straight off taken by Angelina Johnson of Gryffindor. What an excellent Chaser that girl is, and rather attractive too, I might add...” Professor McGonagall casts a disapproving glance at Jordan, then turns to watch the action below.
Cradling the Quaffle, Angelina Johnson weaves wickedly past a Slytherin Chaser, ducks under a sizzling Bludger that Fred Weasley chips away, then dishes off to a speeding Alicia Spinnet. Alicia Falis into a fifteen foot rolling dive, feeds the Quaffle back to Angelina...but has it intercepted by a slashing Marcus Flint.
Flint flies fast for the hoop, rears back...but has his shot blocked by Oliver Wood. Wood bumps. the Quaffle to Chaser Katie Bell, who rockets past Flint the length of the field...only to take a Bludger to the back of the head. As the Quaffle pops loose, Marcus Flint grabs it, drives with astonishing speed back the other way, then takes a Bludger himself, courtesy of George Weasley. Angelina Johnson swoops down, snatches the spinning Quaffle and, flying like lightning, races the field to score.
As Gryffindor cheers fill the cold air, Hagrid makes his way up the stands, scattering students in his wake. “Budge up there. Clear the way. How's Harry holdin' up?”Hagrid asked, Ron and Hermione squeeze together, giving Hagrid space. “He hasn't had much to do yet.” Ron said looking out onto the field. “Thaer I be doin' tenoughtta trouble, enough.”
Above the pitch, Slytherin's w Pusey eludes two Bludgers, two Weasleys and the Chaser, zooming toward the goals...when suddenly a flash of gold zips by his left ear.
“The Snitch!” Harry exclaimed as he saw the small golden ball fly by him. Far below, Slytherin Seeker Terrence Higgs makes his move. He reaches out, and--wham!--Marcus Flint hits him full on, sending him reeling. Harry pulls up his tip, levels off, and glances about. But the Snitch is gone.
“FOUL! FOUL! FOUL!” Ron, Hermione, and Harrgrids yell along with the rest of the crowd. As a Bludger screams past Harry, he tries to kick his broom higher. Instead, it lurches, nearly tossing him off. Below, Hagrid peers through his binoculars, frowns.“Dunno what Harry thinks he's doin'. If I didn't know better, I'd say he's lost control of his broom...”
“Maybe something happened to it when Flint blocked him.” Ron suggested as he too noticed Harry losing grip of his broom. In the stands, people gasp as the broom rolls over and leaves Harry dangling from one end. Neville buries his face.
“No. Can't nothin' interfere with a broomstick except powerful Dark magic. No kid could do that to a Nimbus 2000.” Hearing this, Hermione GRABS Hagrid's binoculars. “It's Snape. He's jinxing the broom.” Ron takes the binoculars, looks. Snape sits muttering in the opposite stands, staring into the sky. Staring at Harry. “Jinxing the broom? What do we do?”
“Leave it to me.”
Harry hangs fcom the broom with wo hands White ted he hovers nearby. George circles about ten feet below.
“What's George doing?”
“Just in case you fall, George will catch you.”
“I knew I should have gone out for football.”
“What's football?”
Hermione fights her way through the Slytherin faithful, who cackle at Harry's plight, toward Snape. Reaching Snape, Hermione crouches down and whips out her wand. Across the field Ron peers through the binoculars..
“Come on, Hermione...” Ron mutters as he looked at from the binoculars. Just then, blue flames spit from Hermione's wand, climbing quickly up Snape's robes. Snape continues to mutter, staring skyward, then realizes he's on fire, and looks away. In the commotion, that ensues, Ron sees Hermione scoop the blue fire into a little jar, slip it. into robe, and make her escape.
Instantly, Harry's broom stops jerking. He clambers back on, when--swoosh!--a flash of gold streaks by him: the Snitch.
Higgs zooms up from below and he and Harry give chase. The Snitch swerves, then dives. As it plummets, Harry and Higgs plummet too, giving it all they've got.
On the pitch below, Hermione puts her hand to her mouth. In the stands, Neville buries his head again. His crazed, eyes riveted to the fluttering Snitch, seeing it and only it. Higgs, on the other hand, sees only the ground and, at the last minute, can bear it no longer, pulling up on his broom and swerving to safety.
As Harry and earth collide, the Nimbus cartwheels away, Harry rolls off and, coming up on all fours, claps his hand to his mouth. As if he were sick.
“Well, that's unfortunate. Understandable, but unfortunate.” Professor McGonagall says as Harry coughs, Hagrid takes back his binoculars, which, unfortunately for Ron, are still around Ron's neck.
“Unfortunate nothin'. He's got the Snitch!” Hagrid said loudly over the roar and screaming of the crowd. Harry shoots his hand in the air. The crowd roars. Marcus Flint touches down, fuming.
“He didn't catch it. He swallowed it!” Flint cheered happily as they couldn’t believe what had just happened.
“Nothing in the Quidditch rulebook. discriminates against catching the Snitch in your mouth. Or any other place for that matter. In fact, in a game played in Greece in the late seventeenth century--“ Hermione said as she popped in.
Madam Hooch stopped her. “Thank you, Miss Granger. We can dispense with the more unattractive historical details of the game. Nevertheless, your point is well taken. Match to Gryffindor!” Madam Hooch says out loud to the group.
As Harry's teammates lift him to their shoulders, Hermione spies Snape in the far stands, limping quickly away, his robes still smoking.
After the game, Hagrid, Harry, Hermione, and Ron were all walking to Hagrids hut. The trio had a plan to get information out of Hagrid.
“Why would Snape try to curse Harry’s broom?” Hermione asked out loud. “Maybe it was because he is trying stop Harry from getting in the way of his plans to get past that three headed dog.” Ron said as they walked towards a rounded wooden hut.
“How do you know about Fluffy?” Hagrid asked looking at the small trio. Harry looked up at Hagrid in disbelief. “Fluffy, the thing has a name?” He asked. The group stopped in the small opening. “Yeah, why wouldn’t he I raised him so he should have a name.” Hagrid said looking down at the trio. “But why Fluffy?” Hermione asked, looking up at the half giant.
“Besides the point!” Hagrid muttered, looking around and playing with his hands nervously. “How do you all know about Fluffy?” He asked sternly looking at Ron, Harry, and Hermione. “The stairs took up there.” Harry answered smartly.
Hagrid rolled his eyes. “And why would Snape try to curse Harry’s broom?” He asked again looking at the trio. “Cause he had gone to Fluffy when there was a troll, I saw him limping.” Harry said remembering the night from the bathroom where Snape had tried to cover up his injury from Harry’s wondering eyes.
“Now why would Snape try to steal the philosopher stone when he’s protecting it?” Hagrid asked, not registering the words that had just come out of his mouth until Hermione asked him.
“Philosopher Stone?” Hermione asked remembering that name from somewhere. Hagrid’s eyes widened. “I should not have said that.” He muttered under his breath looking away from the trio.
“Is that was is being hidden under the dog, Snapes trying to steal it?” Ron asked trying to press into the half giant. Hagrid broke, “Codswallop! Snape's a Hogwart's teacher.” Hermione snapped back as she wanted to prove her point. “Hogwarts teacher or not, I know a jinx when I see one, Hagrid. I've read all about them. You've got to keep eye contact, and Snape wasn't blinking.”
Hagrid had had enough of the trio. “Now listen to me, all three of yeh--yer meddlin' in things that shouldn't be meddled. It's dangerous. What that dog's guardin' is strictly betw'n Professor Dumbledore and Nicolas Flamel--“
Hermione, being the smarty pants she was caught the ending along with Harry and Ron. “Nicolas Flamel?” They asked in unison. Hagrid ignored their question and quickly walked to his hut where Fang was waiting for him.
It’s December now and snow is falling on the ground. The teachers are waiting in the dinning room for Hagrid to bring in a Pine Tree for them. Once Hagrid had brought the tree up and set it up right to make sure it would not fall, the teachers began to hang up decorations on the tree.
Harry was sitting on the Slytherin dinning table talking with Draco, Harry wasn’t going to head home after this new discovery, and his parents were fine they told him to stay safe. “Hey Harry?” Draco said softly pulling out a small package from his brief case which he was going to take home.
“Happy early Christmas.” He said handing the present to Harry. “Draco,” Harry said lightly as he turned to Draco taking the gift in his hands. “I-I didn’t know we were doing this.” He said as he placed the present down on the table. “I didn’t get anything for you.” He whispered shyly, his face turning a little pink from embarrassment.
“Well then you can think of it over break and give it to me once I’m back.” Draco smiled, his face was also a little pink. “Now open it, I want to see what you think.” Draco said leaning over Harry’s shoulder. Harry laughed at the comment but opened the present. There in the small thin box was a bracelet.
“This is beautiful, did you make it?” Harry asked taking the bracelet out of the box. “Yes, I could have done better but I didn’t know how to.” Draco shyly smiled looking away from Harry. “Could you help me put it on?” Harry asked as he noticed it was a tie bracelet. Draco nodded his head softly.
Harry held out his wrist so Draco could put the bracelet on him. Once the bracelet was on Harry stared at the bracelet. “I love it thank you.” Harry said as he could not stop looking at the bracelet. “I’m glad,” Draco said, he got up from the dinning bench and grabbed his stuff. “See you after break.” He said and walked away from Harry and towards a group of students who were going home for Christmas.
“Bye!” Harry yelled waving to Draco. He stared at Draco watching him leave his sight. Suddenly Ron came over slamming a chess board down on the dinning table. “Play with me?” He asked, as he stared to set up. “Hermione left so I don’t have anyone else to play with.” Ron said as he finished setting up the chess game.
Days later, Harry had been working on his present for Draco, he had been looking at his bracelet trying to copy it the best was he could. He had shipped it via owl and hopped it got to Draco before Christmas.
Now it was finally Christmas, Harry woke up to a quiet common room to see a medium present under the tree for him. “What the?” He said softly walking up to the tree and picking up the present. He opened it quickly revealing a blanket. It was soft.
Harry wrapped the blanket around his body and noticed the part of his body that was wrapped disappeared. “Woah!” Harry said excitingly, he needed to show Ron this. A note fell from the blanket. Harry picked it up from the ground and read it.
“Use it well?” Harry asked to himself, he didn’t know what the note was telling him. Harry sneakily left the Slytherin commoner room walking upwards towards the Gryffindor common room. “Ron?” Harry called outside the painting, he was invisible and the painting was looking around trying to see what made that noise.
Ron pushed the painting opened and didn’t see anything, suddenly Harry removed the invisible cloak from his head and Ron jumped in the air. “Harry, bloody hell, you almost gave me a heart attack.”
Harry laughed softly at Ron. “Happy Christmas Ron.” Harry said as he rested the cloak on the couch. “What is that thing?” Ron asked looking at the cloak. “An invisibility cloak,” Harry said as he then again wrapped his body with the blanket keeping his head out. “I don’t know who gave it to me, there was no name on the package.”
Harry stopped as a package came flying at his face. “My mother made this for you.” He said, Harry quickly unwrapped the present. It was a Christmas sweater with a huge H in the middle. The colors were green and grey representing his house perfectly.
“Could you write to your mom saying thank you?” Harry asked as he held the sweater to his chest. “Yeah, she always makes these sweaters for us she must have liked you enough to make you one.” Ron said, his was a dark red with a light yellow R in the middle.
The two then sat chatting about Christmas with their families from past years while playing Wizards Chess. Ron always found a way to beat Harry, he would have to figure out how to win against Ron some time.
Later in the library, Harry was carrying a lamp while walking around wrapped tightly in his cloak as he looked for books based off of Nicolas Flamel. He was in the restricted section of the library looking for anything. He thought he had found something.
Harry placed the lamp down on the table in front of home and reached for a book. He opened it only to be scared by a screaming face that was coming out of the book. Harry was startled as he quickly closed the book shoving it back in the book chase and throwing on his cloak as Filtch came in the library. Harry went to grab the lamp but missed, having it fall on the floor breaking with the light going out.
Harry ran as quickly as he could out of the library he was going to head back to his common room when he turned the corner to see Snape pressing Quirrell against the wall threateningly. “Have you found out how to get past that beast of Hagrid's, yet?” Snape asked as he gave Quirrell a dagger-full glare
“B-b-but severus, I-“ Quirrell stuttered as his speech was normally stuttered but now more than ever. “You don't want me as your enemy, Quirrel.” Snape threatened still pushing Quirrell against the wall. “I don't know what you-“ Quirrell stopped as Snape had cut him off.
“You know perfectly well what I mean. Your little bit of hocus pocus.” Harry walks slowly, carefully around them, trying not to be heard. Snape stops, as if he's felt a snall breeze, then turns seeing soft feathers of vapor. Snape reaches out to touch them. Inside the cloak, Harry puts his hand to his mouth, to stop his breath Snape finds nothing in front of him. He turns back to Quirrel. “We'll have another little chat soon, when you've had time to think things over and decide where your loyalties lie.”
The door behind them slowly opens and closes quietly carefully. Filch appears, from around the corridor, walks up to Snape and Quirrel. “Professors... I found this. In the Restricted Section. It's still hot.”
“Then they can't be far.” Snape said, Harry began to run softly away from the scene he was watching. He stumbled into a room and quickly closed the door softly, Harry finally relaxed when he was once again alone.
He removed the cloak from his body tossing it on the ground as a mirror was sat in front of him. There in the mirror he saw himself but he was older. He was standing in front of his father’s white Sirius and Remus next to him. Harry smiled, suddenly another figure appeared in the mirror.
His platinum blond hair, green eyes, pale skin, and pearly white smile made Harry’s heart flutter. Draco was standing next to him and they were holding hands, the matching bracelets that Draco had made for Harry and the one that Harry had made for Draco. It was a beautiful sight.
Too bad Draco was not here to share in the pleasure Harry was feeling looking at this sight.
The next night Harry caught himself sitting in front of the mirror once again. He had told Ron about it but he thought Harry was crazy. “Back again Harry?” Dumbledore asked as he walked into the room. Harry stared at the same image from before. He stopped smiling when he heard Dumbledores voice. “I see that you--like so many before you--have discovered the delights of the Mirror of Erised. I expect by now you realize what it does.” Dumbledore said as he walked closer to Harry who was sitting at the mirrors edge.
“It shows me my family.” Harry muttered as he didn’t take off Draco in the mirror. “I don't need a cloak to become invisible.” Dumbledore said as he stopped walking as he reached Harry. “I'll give you a clue, Harry. The happiest man on earth would look into the Mirror of Erised and see only himself, exactly as he is.”
Dumbledore looked to the mirror seeing nothing that Harry was seeing. “So, then, it shows us what we want... Whatever we want...” Harry muttered as he once again stared at the image on the mirror.
“Yes and no. It shows us nothing more of less than the deepest, most desperate desire of our hearts. You, who have never
kround our. Ronald Weastee, whe hasd
you. Ronald Weasley, who has always been overshadowed by his family, sees himself standing alone. Remember this, though, Harry. This mirror gives us neither knowledge or truth. Men have wasted away before it. Even gone mad. That's why it will be moved to a new home tomorrow. I ask that you do not go looking for it again, Harry. It does not do to dwell on dreams and forget to live.” Dumbledore answered as he rose to leave the room.
Harry spoke up before the old wizard left. “What do you see in the mirror, professor?” Harry asked looking back at the professor who had turned to look at the mirror. “I have a mountain of Wool Socks, one man could not have enough wool socks.” Dumbledore said smiling as he looked at the mirror. Harry chuckled looking back at the mirror.
After winter break students began to come back to Hogwarts. Harry was sitting at the Slytherin table eating breakfast with his house when Draco walked by and sat down. “Happy late Christmas.” He said he placed his forearm on the table showing off the matching bracelet Harry had made him. “Happy late Christmas.” Harry said smiling at the bracelet.
“Do you like it?” Harry asked looking at the bracelet on Draco’s wrist. Draco looked at the bracelet and smiled. “I love it, thank you.” He said smiling at Harry. Harry looked away as his face felt hot. “I’m glad.” Harry whispered under his breath, he was happy that Draco had liked his gift.
The two talked about their Christmas and what happened over the week they were away from each other. Harry left the mirror part out as he didn’t want to scare away his friend.
It was spring time the crisp spring weather had warmed the air up, the castle had a nice warm and cozy feeling to it. Harry was sitting close to Ron and Hermione, she had a book in her hand and was quizzing Ron about potions. “One more time, how do you make a forgetfulness potion?”she asked sternly. Ron looked to her quickly he tried to remember what was in a forgetfulness potion. “I forget.” He whined slamming his head on the table.
“Then what do you plan on doing during the test?” Hermione asked putting her book down. Ron looked up from the table, a red spot starting to show from where he hit his head on the table. “I’ll just copy off of you.” He smirked, Hermione gave him a look. “You will certainly not.” She said, she then gave Ron an explanation that Harry was not listening to.
The dinning hall suddenly erupted in laughter as a locked legged boy came hopping in toward Ron and Hermione. Harry knew the boys name was Neville. “Leg locked curse.” Ron and Hermione muttered to one and other. “Malfoy.” They said once again looking at each other.
“You have to learn to stick up for yourself.” Ron said looking at Neville. Harry saw the leg locked curse and hoped that it wasn’t Draco who had put the curse on him. “How I can’t stand at all?” Neville asked sarcastically, some of the Gryffindor students snickered at the comment. “I offered to do the counter curse.” Seamus said standing up from the bench he was sitting on to eat lunch. Harry vaguely remembered something about this kid that had put him off. “Yeah, and have my legs blown to bits, no thanks.” Neville said, Harry then realized this was the kid who had blown the feather up from a simple spell. “Alright, Neville, who do you want to do the counter curse? Me or Hermione?” Ron asked as he whipped out his wand ready to undo the locked legged curse.
“Found it!” Harry said as he held up the Dumbledore card, he pulled Ron and Hermione’s attention away from Neville. “'Dumbledore is particularly famous for his defeat of the dark wizard Grindelwald, for the discovery of the twelve uses of dragon's blood...and his work on alchemy...with his partner,
Nicolas Flamel.’” Ron read as he took the card from Harry’s hands. “I knew I read it somewhere.” Harry said looking over Ron’s shoulder to look at the card.
“Follow me.” Hermione said as she ran out of the dinning hall, Ron and Harry followed behind her quickly leaving Neville behind. “What about the counter curse?” He shouted towards the trio that ran away. Neville fell down as he tried to hop after them, the dinning hall broke out again into laughter.
Harry and Ron were waiting at a table for Hermione who ‘had something’. She came back carrying a huge book, she placed it down and it slammed on the table. “How could I be so stupid,” she sighed opening the large book that was almost the width of her. “I checked this out weeks ago for a bit of light reading.” She said, Harry and Ron gave her a look.
“This is light?” Ron asked looking at the huge book. Hermione smiled at him as she turned to a page. “Here it is,” she said pointing to a sentence in the book. “Nicolas Flamel is the only known maker of the sorcerer stone.” She read, Ron and Harry looked at each other. “The what stone?” They asked at the same time to Hermione.
“Oh, honestly, don't you two read?” She scoffed looking at the two. She read from the book. “'The Sorcerer's Stone is a legendary substance with astonishing powers. It will transform any metal into pure gold and prode es heiner orlafe, which will make the drinker immortal.’”
“Immortal.” Ron said tasing the word on his tongue. “It means you'll never die.” Hermione said thinking Ron didn’t know what immortal was. “I know what it means--“ Ron was cut off by Hermione reading some more. “'The only stone currently in existence belongs to Mr. Nicolas Flamel, the noted alchemist, who last year celebrated his six hundred and sixty-fifth birthday.'” She read, she then looked up to Harry and Ron.
“That's what Fluffy's guarding on the Third Floor. That's what's under the trapdoor. The Sorcerer's Stone!” She made the connection.
“So Flamel knows someone's after the Stone... gives it to Dumbledore to keep safe at Hogwarts...not realizing that the one who's after it...” Harry spoke, Hermione added on to what Harry said. “Teaches at Hogwarts.”
“So Snape wants piles of gold and to live forever. Who wouldn't?” Ron spoke shrugging his shoulders. Hermione closes the book, troubled by something.“What is it, Hermione?” Harry asked seeing her puzzled face. “I don't want to scare you, Harry. It's just...if all Snape wants is the stone then why did he try to kill you on the Quidditch pitch?”Harry ponders this, but doesn't have an answer.
Harry was walking, trailing behind him was Ron and Hermione. They walked towards a hut at the edge of the dark forest. Harry quickly walked up to the door and knocked on the door. Hagrid opened it, looking down at the small children, his hands were sweaty as he fiddled with his fingers.
“Oh, hullo.” Hagrid started as he saw the students. “Er- not to be rude but I’m not really wanting any company right now, so goodnight.” Hagrid said closing the door on the students. They yelled quickly before the half giant closed the door.
“We know about the Sorceres Stone!”
“Snape?” Hagrid asked looking at the trio sitting at his table. “That’s bogus.” Hagrid said, there was no way Snape could want the stone. “We know he’s after it, we just don’t know why.” Harry said softly as he thought of why Snape would want the storm.
“Harry, Snape one of the teachers protecting the stone. He’s not about to steal it.” Hagrid said talking to the trio. Hermione picked up on something. “One of the teachers?” Harry asked, Hermione gasped as it made sense now.
“Of course! There must be other thing guarding the stone, spells and enchantments.” She said looking at Hagrid. Hagrid shyly looked away from the trio. “That’s silly, no one will ever get passed Fluffy, the only people who know how is Dumbledore and meself.” Hagrid spoke with broken English.
Cracking suddenly filled the room and the trio was now fully aware about a boiling cauldron that was sitting over a fire. “Hagrid what is in there?” Harry asked, Hagrid had gone over to the cauldron and picked a huge black egg out of the boiling water and set it down on the table.
“I know what that is, Hagrid how did you get this?” Ron asked looking at the egg. “Won it off of a stranger, he didn’t want it anymore and gave me the dragon egg.” He said looking down at the dragons egg that was starting to crack more. “Is it a dragon?” Hermione asked looking at the cracked egg.
“That's not just a dragon! That's a Norwegian Ridgeback! My brother Charlie works with these in Romania.” Ron said looking at the egg excitingly. The egg slowly started to crack revealing a small dragon that was calling out for its mother. “Isn’t he beautiful?” Hagrid asked carefully stretching his hand out to pet the small dragon. “Norbert.” Hagrid called the dragon.
“Norbert?” Hermione asked looking at the dragon. “Well he have to have a name don’t he?” Hagrid inquired petting the dragon more. The dragon leans into Hagrids hand. “He’ll need training to get big and strong.” Hagrid said and looked up at the trio. He saw another student in the window.
“Hey you there!” He called to the student. The trio turned to see Malfoy and his shocked expression against the window. “Malfoy!” Hermione and Ron sighed frustratedly, Harry just stared, why would Draco be here. Suddenly there was a knock at Hagrids door.
The door opened before Hagrid could tell this person to come in. McGonagall was standing there. “Four students,” she sighed the lamp in her hands shaking a little. “Out of bed after curfew, 50 points from all of your houses for being out, and detention as well.” She said, Draco had walked into the hut before McGonagall had spoke and was shocked to hear what she had to say.
Draco looked to Harry then to the dragon that was resting in Hagrid’s huge hands. Draco looked to Harry and smiled a little bit. “All of you to bed.” McGonagall said sternly she had stared at Hagrid and the dragon he was holding. Draco, Harry, Hermione, and Ron quickly scampered out of the hut towards the castle. Once inside the four split up heading towards there common rooms for sleep.
Draco and Harry were walking down the hall towards their common room. It was silent as they walked next to each other. “Why were you out there?” Draco asked stopping in the hall. “W-we just wanted to see Hagrid.” Harry lied as he scratched the back of his neck. “Why did you follow us?” Harry asked softly as he looked at Draco. Draco awkwardly looked around not making eye contact with Harry. “Cause I was worried.” Draco said shortly, his face was slowly heating up.
“Why were you worried?” Harry asked he had started walking towards the Slytherin Common room. Draco quickly ran up to Harry walking along side him again. “Cause I saw that you weren’t in your bed and I got worried.” Draco answered honestly, he had looked over to Harry as they walked. “That’s sweet.” Harry muttered under his breath as they continued to walk to the Slytherin common room.
Harry and Draco had gotten to the common room and had gone up towards their beds, Harry and Draco changed quickly into their pjs and then went under their covers for some needed sleep.
The next night Harry, Draco, Hermione, and Ron went out with Filtch to serve their detention. Hagrid was standing outside throwing longs to the fire he made sure the fire was well tended to. Harry looked around to find the dragon but he did not see anything. “Norbert has been taken.” Hagrid said looking up at the group. “They say he needed to be wit’ his own family.” He explained, Hagrid started to tear up and his voice started to crack. “Oh, enough of that blasted dragon.” Filtch said and left the students with the professor. “What are we going to do?” Draco asked as he looked around what they were going to do for this detention.
“You are all going to help out in the forest.” Filtch said, he began to walk away. “The forest?” Draco asked quickly looking to Hagrid, then to Harry a scared look crossing his face. “But that’s forbidden.” He said trying to get himself out of the detention.
“Hermione, Ron, you’ll be coming with me. Draco and Harry you’ll go with Fang.” Hagrid said grabbing a torch for Harry and Draco to hold. The group walked into the forest and split up quickly.
Fang Harry and Draco walked around, Draco was carrying the torch and staying close to Fang as he was scared out of his mind. As the group turned a corner there was a black shadowy figure drinking the silver colored blood from a unicorn. Harry’s scare began to burn, his hand reached up to his forehead to press against his forehead. Draco stood there petrified. Draco noticed Harry’s pain and discomfort as they saw this shadowy person suddenly stand up. Fang took off.
The shadowy figure flew to them quickly their cape flowing through the wind as it came towards them. Draco was frozen with fear, while Harry was doubled over with pain. The figure was not stopping it came closer and closer to where the two boys were standing when suddenly a centaur jumped out stopping the cloaked figure from getting closer to the boys.
Draco helped Harry stand as the centaur had rested back on its four hooves. Draco and Harry both looked at the centaur great full for it saving their lives. “Thank you,” the two boys said breathlessly, the centaur simply nodded his head and looked behind them where Hagrid was standing in front of Hermione, Ron, and Fang who was cowering behind him.
Hagrid thanked the centaur and ushered the kids out of the forest quickly. The kids rushed back into the castle, they all walked slowly. Harry told Draco to head to the common room so he could talk to Hermione and Ron first. Draco had walked a few paces ahead of the group and waited for Harry.
“What is it you wanted to talk about?” Hermione asked she looked at Harry worriedly. “In the forest, there was a creature drinking from a unicorn, when I saw that creature my scare started to hurt. I-I think you know who is out in the forest drinking off Unicorns to become stronger.” Harry said he reached his hand up to his forehead to where his scar laid, it was still stinging a bit but it was much more bearable than earlier.
“D-do you think if he comes back that he’ll try to kill you?” Ron asked scared about what could happen to his friend. “I think if he got the chance he would have killed me tonight.” Harry said sighing as he felt his scar slowly start to cool. Ron looked sickly as he reregistered what Harry had said.
“And here I’ve been worrying about my potions final.” He chuckled softly trying to lighten the mood. “No. We're forgetting one thing. Who's the one wizard Voldemort always feared? Dumbledore. As long as Dumbledore's around, you're safe, Harry. As long as Dumbledore's around...you can't be touched.” Hermione reasoned trying to think logically about this situation.
Harry breathed softly. “Alright,” he said he began to walk away from the group. “Goodnight.” He said walking towards where Draco was leaning against the wall. “You alright?” Draco asked as they started walking towards the Slytherin common room. “Yes.” Harry said softly. Draco continued to walk still he was cautions about Harry’s scar.
“Does your scar hurt?” Draco asked looking towards Harry’s forehead. “No, not anymore.” Harry sighed, they eventually reached the Slytherin common room and quickly got into their beds after the long night of terror.
All the students flooded the courtyard into the sunny day, they were finished with their exams and everyone was delightful. “I found those really fun what about you two?” Hermione asked, a warm smile covering her face. Ron sighed a breath of relief as the exams were finally over. “I thought my head was going to explode.” He said, relaxing against the castle wall.
When Hermione didn’t get an answer from Harry she looked at him to see him holding a hand to his forehead. “Harry…” she said looking at the boy. “My scar…it burns.” He said softly as to not draw attention to himself. “It’s happened before?” Hermione asked hoping she was wrong. “Yes, but not like this.” Harry said, he then heard sweet noise of a flute filling his ears. He followed that sound with Hermione and Ron behind him.
The trio reached Hagrid’s hut and saw him playing the flute to Fang calming the giant black dog down. Harry thought about it for a second before speaking. “Don’t you find it weird?” Harry said out loud. “What?” Hermione, Ron, and Hagrid asked looking at Harry. “That a stranger just so happened to have a dragon egg and give it to you? I mean how many people have dragon eggs and are just willingly giving them away?” Harry asked and turned to his friends.
“Harris what did you and the stranger talk about?” Hermione asked looking at the half giant, he had stopped playing the flute to answer the question. “He asked what I did, the sorta creatures I look after. Tol' him after Fluffy a dragon would be easy. •Well, yeah. How many three-headed dogs do etenst a this seringer, the trade? so with any beast is ter know what calms 'em. Take Fluffy, fer example. Jus' play 'im a bit o' music an' he'll go straight off ter sleep--“
Hagrid stopped as he realized what he said to the trio. “I shouldn’t ‘ave told you that! Forget you ‘eard anything.” Hagrid said, the trio looked at each other then took off towards the castle. “‘Ey, where you goin’?” Hagrid shouted seeing the trio take off towards the castle.
The trio ran to find McGonagall. They found her and asked her to speak with Dumbledore, she told them he had been summoned to the ministry of magic and he wasn’t here. They all looked at her they needed someone’s help. “We know about the sorcerers stone!” They all said at the same time.
McGonagall looked at them, she was speechless. “H-how do you know about that?” She asked looking at the trio. “We know someone is going to steal it.” Harry said quickly avoiding her question. “Nonsense, the stone is safe and secure no one could get to it only the teachers.” She answered, “now off the bed with you.” She said sending the students away from her room.
The students walked around the castle towards their respective common rooms when Harry stopped them. “We need to go through the trap door tonight.” Harry said quietly, he was going to talk about the plan with Hermione and Ron but another voice came over them. “Good evening.” Snape said, his monotone voice practically putting the students to sleep.
“Why would three young students be doing inside on such a lovely day like today?” Snape asked looking down at the students. The trio had frozen when they noticed Snape was talking to them. “We were just,” Harry was just going to answer when Snape caught him off. “You might want to be careful some people might think you’re up to something.” Snape said then walked away.
“Tonight, we have to get that stone.” Harry said once Snape was far enough to not hear them. Hermione and Ron looked at each other and nodded.
It was dark when Harry woke up. He carefully and quietly walked around the common room getting ready to leave. “Why are you awake?” A voice asked suddenly, Harry froze and turned around only to see Draco sitting on a couch. “I-I was sleep walking.” Harry lied trying to get Draco to believe him.
“Uh hu, and I’m Dumbledore.” Draco said sarcastically. Draco got up and walked over to Harry. “Let’s go back to sleep.” He said sternly reaching out to grab Harry’s arm to drag him back to his bed. Harry took out his wand quickly. “Sorry,” he apologized quickly before casting a spell on Draco. “Petrificus Totalus!” He said freezing Draco on the spot.
Harry ran out of the Slytherin common room and towards the meet up spot for Hermione and Ron.
The trio made their way up to the third floor quickly and quietly they walked to the door that was unlocked and heard snoring. “He’s already asleep?” Ron asked as a giant gust of warm air hit them quickly. The trap door was free. “Hurry.” Harry said walking over to the trap door and opening it. “If something happens make sure you two get yourself out, don’t worry about me.” Harry said as he walked into the trap door. Hermione and Ron followed quickly right as the music finished playing.
The trio lands softly on a bed of plants. Before they can do anything the plants grab a hold of them Ron and Harry begin to panic. Hermione easily slips between the vines. “Hermione!” Ron cries his face becoming red from stress. “Relax!” Hermione’s voice called from under the vines.
Harry heard this and relaxed, he too fell through the vines. “Harry!” Ron yelled as he saw Harry being taken by the vines. Hermione talked about what the vines liked and disliked. Suddenly she took out her wand and casted light on the vines. Suddenly Ron was dropped on the ground. He was breathing heavily as he tried to calm down.
The trio walks into a brightly light room with hundreds of birds fluttering around. “Are those birds?” Harry asked looking up at the birds. “No, those are flying keys.” She said but was staring at the door next to them. She tried to unlock the door with a spell but it didn’t work.
“We need an old key to get in.” Hermione said looking at the lock. Harry nodded, he placed his hand on the broom and rode it upwards. He looked for any type of key that would be old and found it. He took off quickly, suddenly the keys turned and tried to attack him. Harry got to the key and dropped it to Hermione she unlocked the door quickly she and Ron entered the door and waited for Harry. Once he was in they shut the door quickly so the other keys wouldn’t get to them.
They walked to a giant chess board. Harry and Hermione looked to Ron. “Just tell us what to do.” Hermione and Harry said. “Hermione you be the queen, Harry you be the pawn, and I’ll be the knight.” Ron said, Hermione and Harry took their rightful places while Ron got on top of a horse.
The game progressed, until finally Ron almost had checkmate. “No Ron don’t!” Harry shouted from across the chess board. “What? What’s he going to do?” Hermione asked looking at Harry. “He’s going to sacrifice himself.” Harry said. Hermione quickly looked to Ron. “No, Ron you can’t!” She said, but Ron wasn’t listening.
“I’ll move, the queen will take me, then Harry you’ll be free to check the king.” Ron explained looking at Harry. Harry nodded. Ron did exactly what he said he sacrificed himself and the queen took him out. Hermione wanted to make sure Ron was ok but Harry stopped her. Harry moved to the king and checked him.
The king broke down and the game was over. Hermione rushed to Ron’s side making sure he was ok. Harry left to go take down Snape while Hermione tried to wake Ron up.
Harry walked in to see the Mirror from before and Professor Quirrell standing at the edge of the mirror. “H-how, it should have been Snape?” Harry spoke softly.
QUIRRELI
“Yes, doesn’t he? So useful Snape, Swooping around like an overgrown bat. Next to him,
who would suspect p-poor st-stuttering Professor Quirrell?” Quirrell asked as he continued to look at the mirror. “But that day, during the Quidditch
match...Snape to kill me.” Harry said trying to make sense of this.
“No, dear boy, I tried to kill you.
And, trust me, if Snape's cloak hadn't caught fire and broken my eye contact, I would've succeeded. Even with
Severus muttering his little countercurse.” Quirrell said turning to look at Harry “Snape was trying to save me?” Harry asked, he couldn’t believe that Snape, a man he thought hated him tried to save him.
QUIRRELL
“Oh, don't misunderstand. He hates you, just as he hated your father when they were at Hogwarts together. But he never wanted you dead. Your father,
after all, saved his life once, long ago.” Harry looks stunned. Quirrell looks amised.
Didn’t you know? Surprisingly, given how curious you are Potter. I knew you were a danger to me right off. Especially after Halloween.” Quirrell snapped at Harry angrily. Harry put two and two together. “You let the Troll in.” Quirrell nods, examining the Mirror as he speaks; “Yes. I have a way with trolls. Snape, unfortunately, wasn't fooled. While everyone else was running about the dungeons, he went straight to the Third Floor to head me off. That three-headed dog didn't even manage to bite Snape's leg off properly.
Be, course, never trusted me again. Rarely left me alone. But he doesn't understand. I am never alone. Never...” Quirrell said, he was starting to get frustrated with the mirror. Quirrell ground. “Now what does this mirror do? I see what I desire, I see myself holding the Stone. But how do I get it?”
“Use the boy.”
Harry glances about in horror as the Dark Voice echoes. Quirrell turns, eyes Harry. “Come here, Potter.” Quirrell points to the mirror. As Harry steps in front, he sees himself, looking pale. and scared. Then, slowly, his
reflection smiles, puts its hand in its pocket, and pulls out a blood-red stone. Harry's own eyes widen--in a mixture expression, he closes his eyes. Struggling to control his wish...lets out a breath, and opens them once again. His reflection winks, returns the Stone to its pocket and, to Harry's amazement it drops heavily into his own: He's gotten the Stone.
“What is it? What do you see?
Harry?” Quirrell asked knowing Harry was seeing something. “I’m shaking hands with Dumbledore. I’ve just won the house cup.” Harry lies quickly still looking into the mirror.
“He lies.” The dark voice says again.
“Tell the truth! What do you see!” Quirrell demands, he is starting to get angry with this boy. “Let me speak to him.” The dark voice speaks. “Master, you are not strong enough.” Quirrell says looking away from Harry and out into the room. “I have strength enough for this.”Quirrell reaches up, unfurls his turban. In the mirror, Harry watches a face appear...on the back of Quirrell's
head.
“Voldemort.” Harry whispers as he remembers the face from when he was young. “Harry Potter, We meet...again.” Voldemort said, his voice was scratchy and echoed through the room. Petrified, Harry stares at the face. It is hideous, constantly changing, struggling to become whole. “You see what I've become. Unicorn blood can sustain me, but it cannot give me a body of my something that I can not own. But there is something that, conveniently enough.. lies in your pocket.”
Harry wheels, dashing toward the staircase. “Stop him!” Voldemort yells at Quirrell. Coolly, Quirrell snaps his fingers and, just as Harry reaches the threshold, flames shoot from the floor, barring his way. “Don't be a fool, Harry. Why suffer a horrific death, when you can join me...and live.”
“Never!” Harry yells standing up against Harry. His bereavement was showing. “Bravery. Your parents had it too. Tell me, Harry...would you like to see your mother and father again?”
Harry stops, looks up. Quirrell steps aside, Voldemort's face sliding from the glass and revealing...Harry's real parents, but he didn’t care anymore, he had a loving family that has been with him since the beginning.
“Together, we can bring them back. All I ask...is for something in retum.” Slowly, almost involuntarily, Harry removes the Stone from his pocket. “That's it, Harry. There is no good and evil, there is only power, and those too weak to seek it. Together, we'll do extraordinary things. Just give me the Stone.” Harry studies his parents' faces, drifting to his mother's, when Voldemort's hideous face surfaces through her's...and she is gone. “Liar!” Voldemort's eyes narrow.
“Kill him!” Harry gets to his feet and the stone tumbling in his grasp. Quirrell drops, his hand closing on Harry's neck. Harry winces at the touch, face creased in pain, looking up into Quirrell's face, when...for the briefest of moments--it releasing Harry and recoiling. “Wh-what is this magic?” Harry, breathing hard, follows Quirrell's gaze, stares in horror: Quirrell's fingers are slowly turning to dust.
“Fool! Get the Stone!” Harry rises, looks at Quirrell's withering fingers, then to move, Harry, the ash of Quriell starts to decides. He bolts forward, reaches up with both hands and...presses them to Quirrell's face. Quirrell SCREAMS, but Harry holds tight, growing weaker as the face under his fingers begins to DISSOLVE until, finally, just when Harry looks ready to pass out.
Quirrell's face drops away.
Arching top wards fast, then to dust. Harry stands still, just staring, then turns wearily, picks up the stone ace-swoops up bento betry spos, matthing in terror as... WHOOSH!--in a violent ruse--Voldemort returns to dust and through the ash and onto the stone through the dust, back disappears, all is quiet once more. Harry lying on the floor. The Stone glimmering in the fire light.
Harry woke in the hospital wing with Dumbledore standing over him by a giant pile of gifts. “Good afternoon Harry.” Dumbledore greats as he’s looking through the gifts. “Trinkets and things from your admirers.” Dumbledore say and picks out a small box of jelly beans.
Harry sat up wincing at the small pain filling his body. “Admirers?” He asked looking at Dumbledore who was smiling at him. “What happened down in the dungeons between you and Professor Quirrell is a complete secret-so naturally the whole school knows. Your friend Ronald has saved you the trouble of opening your chocolate frogs. Though one suspects Agrippa and Ptolemy still elude him.” Harry then started asking a million questions about his friends that were with him. Dumbledore assured him that they were safe and not harmed.
Harry was then let go from the hospital. He limped down the stairs towards Ron and Hermione who were waiting there for him. “Are you alright?” All three asked quickly. They then started laughing as they couldn’t believe the timing. The trio walked into the dinning hall to see the banners green and silvers with the Slytherin crescent on them. The Slytherin table was filled with cheers and laughter.
Harry sat down next to Draco wincing at the pain. Draco hugged him quickly. “Draco?” Harry asked, the last time he had saw Draco was when he cursed him. “Don’t ever do that again!” Draco shouted, while everyone was occupied with everyone else. Draco had smashed his lips on Harry’s. Surprised, Harry’s eyes widened as he looked at Draco but soon melted into the kiss. The two boy pulled away quickly as Dumbledore started to speak.
“As some of you have noticed, Slytherin has won the house cup!” Dumbledore announced to everyone, the other tables except Slytherin was sad. “Would we all give a big congratulations to Slytherin for wining the house cup?” Dumbledore asked. The other houses congratulated Slytherin house on the win.
After that the students were free to leave. Though Draco had pulled Harry away from everyone to talk to him privately. “Harry, I-i like you.” Draco admitted his face flush with a red blush. Harry smiled at this small gesture. Harry’s hands cupped Draco’s face making the platinum blond look up at him. Harry slowly leaned in for a kiss.
He pulled away slowly catching his breath. “I like you too.” He answered honestly. Harry smiled as he saw how Draco was hiding his face in his neck. “Would you like to be boyfriends?” Draco asked against Harry’s neck. Harry nodded his head. “Yes.” He answered smiling as he did so.
“We should keep in touch over the summer.” Draco said, he then handed Harry a parchment with an address written on it. “I will,” Harry said, he and Draco smiled they walked back to the train they had come on.
Once back at platform 9 3/4 Harry saw James and Regulus waiting for him. He kissed Draco good bye and went running towards his parents. “Dads!” Harry shouted jumping into their arms. “Harry!” They shouted back. Draco smiled at the scene he saw and went looking for his parents.
On the way home Harry talked about everything that happened in Hogwarts not skipping a single detail except getting a boyfriend. His parents were very happy that Harry had such a nice time. Harry couldn’t wait for next school year so he could see his friends and Draco, his boyfriend.
Harry couldn’t wait.
