Chapter 1
The door to the boys dormitory burst open, in ran a frantic and out of breath boy with round glasses and brown hair.
“Do I have your permission, Padfoot?” he said as he tried to catch his breath.
“Yeah of course-” he responded absentmindedly, Remus was playing with his hair and he always zoned out when he was doing that, “-wait, what for?” he snapped back to reality, looking over at the boy standing in the door.
“Nothing! And thank you!-” The boy responded, running out of the dorm room at that same second with a big grin.
Sirius looked up at Remus in confusion, the boy with the scars only shrugged in response as he kept playing with his hair.
It was not unusual for James to do stuff like that, running around the castle and never telling them what he’s doing until he’s managed to calm down, so no one really questioned him as he sprinted across the castle at full speed.
The boy kept running until he eventually reached the dungeons and the entrance to the Slytherin common room.
Outside of the dungeons stood a boy, quite similarily looking to Sirius. He had messy black curls -which he always tried to comb down but never to any avail, and gray eyes. He had his arms crossed tightly, he was probably freezing -the dungeons were very cold. James almost felt bad for the Slytherins.
His head snapped up and smiled as he saw James approaching.
“Hello my dear fiancé” James said between breaths, grinning teasingly, supporting himself with his hands on his knees.
“I will literally kill you” Regulus deadpanned.
“What a great way to start off a marriage”
“We’re only doing this for one reason and you know it, Potter”
“We’ve known each other for like 3 months, you’re about to literally become my husband, please call me James”
Regulus crossed his arms and stared coldly into James’ eyes, before sighing and giving up, “Fine”
“I want to hear you say it”
“Don’t push your luck… James” he relented.
“There we go!” James grinned, “Let’s go to Minnie's office shall we?”
“Minnie? Really? You guys have a really weird kind of friendship with McGonagall, it’s creepy”
“Jealous are we?”
“I will not hesitate to hex you and you know it” He said as he started to pull out his wand from his back pocket.
“Alright! Alright, I understand”
They made their way down to McGonagall’s office in no time. James knocked on the door, it flew open the following second.
“Come in!”
She greeted the boys with a smile.
“What brings you here- tea?”
“Uh no thanks, see we were wondering-”
“-could you marry us?”
McGonagall choked slightly on her tea, “Oh?.. What’s the occasion?”
“See, my mother is going to make me take the dark mark over Christmas, and I’ve also been arranged a marriage with my absolutely insane and murderous cousin Bellatrix. So, marrying James here would not only make it impossible for them to make me take the dark mark, but they would also have to disown me, since i would marry a Potter and be gay, and I would be able to escape my family”
“Oh.. And you two have thought about this for a while, I suppose?”
“A little more than a month, it’s his only choice, and I would more than gladly help him” James said with a slight smile, his hands clamped together in-front of him.
The professor looked a bit hesitant.
“Please professor, it’s my only hope” Regulus practically begged.
She hesitated for a second before responding with, “Alright, stand up and we’ll get you married”
Regulus smiled brightly, “Thank you professor”
“Who’s taking who’s name? Or do you keep your names?”
“I suppose taking the Potter name would be a final kick in the crotch, and I don’t exactly want to keep the Black name, so if he’s okay with it then we’ll do that”
“I am more than okay with that, I will take any chance to piss off your family as much as I can Regulus” He grinned childishly.
Regulus rolled his eyes and handed McGonagall the rings.

And that is how James and Regulus got married, that was about 2 years ago.
The plan had worked and Regulus had been disowned just less than month later, the Potter’s had immediately taken him in.
In fact, Euphemia and Fleamont were the reason they could get married in the first place. They had bought and owled them the rings, and they were fully on board with the secret but fake marriage they had.
Effie handmade the rings, one was silver with a small orange honey like stone in the middle, and the other one was gold with a small green stone in it.
They had even made sure to put the rings on a necklace, since Regulus was horribly claustrophobic. He became claustrophobic after the numerous hours he had been forced to spend in a small closet under a body locking spell. All in all, another thing to blame his parents for.
James and Regulus’.. well, in laws he supposes, had fully understood this, and they were the ones to decide to put the rings on a necklace.
After a couple of months into their marriage they slowly started realizing their feelings for eachother, and only 3 months in James confessed his liking for Regulus.
The others still didn’t know about their marriage, and Regulus’ old parents and James’ parents were the only ones that knew about it.
James had managed to convince both Regulus and Sirius to talk to each other, and he had actually succeeded.
Sirius knew Regulus was out of the family, and Regulus had shit talked the family enough times so that Sirius finally gave him a chance to hear him out.
That was about a year ago, and Regulus’ and James’ friend group had kind of merged together over that time.
Peter had become great friends with Pandora and Dorcas -they both loved drama and gossiping, and both girls had joined the Peter’s gossip club, before that consisting of Mary McDonald, Marlene McKinnon and Peter Pettigrew.
Sirius had become great friends with Barty -they were both kind of crazy in that sense, and Barty never stood up against a great hexing against a nobody pureblood bullying half bloods or muggleborns.
Remus had become friends with Evan Rosier. Remus was surprised and delighted when he had found out that Evan not only shared Remus’ love for literature, but loved the same sappy romance novels as he did. They created a little book club between themselves and they got together every Wednesday to discuss the new book they’d read.
And about Regulus and James, well, they enjoyed playing risky.
They both occasionally referred to each other as “husband”, before laughing the next second and playing it off as a joke.
Every time someone had questioned them on it they had replied “It’s an inside joke, you wouldn’t get it”. It probably wasn’t very believable, but they didn’t really care.
They didn’t actually care if someone found out about it, they were just surprised nobody of their friends had questioned them further in those entire 2 years.
That was until one night when they were sitting in the Gryffindor common room. The Gryffindors had just held a party for their great victory over the Ravenclaws and only a few select people were the only ones in the common rooms.
“Let’s play truth or dare!” Sirius suggested, grinning mischievously.
James shot Regulus a questioning “should we risk our secret getting spilled?” look, he responded with a “fuck it, it’s been like 2 entire years, if we come out we come out” look, James grinned at that. Over those two years they had come to develop that creepy marriage telepathy thing.
They sat down in the circle that had begun to form.
“Okay so, who starts?” James asked.
“Ah, not so quick Jamesey” Sirius grinned wider, reaching for something in his pocket.
He pulled out a small curvy potion bottle of something.
“Is that- veritaserum? Merlin, how did you even get that” Regulus all but gawked.
“That -my dear brother- I can’t tell you” he started opening the bottle, “are we all okay with this? No pushing with the questions, only one question, and nothing medical or anything similar”
Everyone agreed as Sirius started pouring up shots of Veritaserum.
Everyone took their shots and the game began.
“Remus, the love of my life, truth or dare?”
“Dare”
“Kiss me”
Barty and Evan booed loudly, “Boring! Pick something better ya slut!” they grinned.
Remus gave him a quick peck on the lips before retreating back to his place in the circle.
“James, truth or dare?” Remus asked.
"Hmm.. Truth”
“Do you fancy someone? That’s not Lily!”
“I’ve told you, I don’t fancy Lily anymore, sorry” she shot her an apologetic look, she just chuckled “But yes, I do fancy someone else, in fact, I have for a long time” he grinned.
Everyone raised havoc with their questions.
“What??? When did this happen!?”
“Who??”
“Is she cute??”
“He is very hot” He grinned.
“ WHAT??!” Everyone's jaws were on the floor, stunned at what they had just learnt.
“You’re telling me you really didn’t know? Good god, I stopped trying to hide it like two years ago!”
“You’ve liked someone for two years and you haven’t told us ?” Sirius looked almost hurt.
“James, is he hot?” Regulus asked, biting down a grin.
“Very hot, very cute as well, I love him”
“Good god, how- I don’t, how have you hidden this?” Peter asked, stunned, “I mean, we all support you fully!”
They all nodded.
“Thanks but, I'm not sure everyone is going to be 100% supportive”
“What do you mean?? Of course we’re supportive, no one here is homophobic!” Dorcas said with a questioning look.
“That’s not what I was implying either” James bit his lip, failing to bite down a grin.
That was the breaking point, Regulus burst out into loud laughter, bringing James with him.
“Oh my god there is no way you guys are this oblivious -” Regulus laughed again.
Sirius looked at them confused for a couple of seconds, before looking between them understandingly.
“You- a- You? James” he looked over warningly at the boy.
“Oh my Romeo save me from this foul beast named Sirius” James clamped his hands together in a praying motion, before giggling again.
Sirius looked fuming, James laughed a bit more.
“Alright! Alright calm down Sirius, my turn” James turned towards Regulus, “Hello” He grinned
“Hello James” Regulus grinned back.
“May I ask you, truth or dare?”
“Truth” He grinned.
“What is your full name?”
The group looked confused.
“My name, dear James, is Regulus Arcturus Potter ”
They both broke out into giggles again, James face planted the rug, laughing into the red wool.
The group broke out into almost ear deafening screams and screeches.
“WHAT THE FUCK?? DID THE POTTERS ADOPT YOU? WHEN”
“I- there is no way, oh my god, no they didn’t adopt me” Regulus said, almost tired by their stupidity.
“then ho- OH MY GOD YOU MARRIED JAMES”
“WHAT THE FUCK”
“HOW DID YOU EVEN-”
“McGonagall married us when I was in my fifth year” Regulus grinned, he pulled out the ring from under his shirt, James did the same.
“FIFTH YEAR WHAT THE ACTUAL FUCK??”
“SO THAT’S WHAT THAT RING NECKLACE THING WAS?? I THOUGHT IT WAS SOME EXPENSIVE FRIENDSHIP THINGIE OR SOMETHING”
“There is absolutely no way you guys can be this oblivious what the actual fuck” Regulus rubbed the part between his eyes in frustration.
“I’m not even- why didn’t we get invited to your wedding?” Lily said sadly.
“Cause we didn’t marry for love.. originally”
“What?” Peter and Mary asked at the same time, confused.
“I married James cause that was the quickest way of getting out of the household. They arranged for me to marry Bellatrix and get the death mark. I took james’ last name as a last fuck you” he shrugged.
“Oh my god I can’t even be mad at you James, that’s amazing,” Sirius started laughing.
“Okay so wait, ohh that’s why you’ve been calling each other husbands!”
“ding ding 15 points to Gryffindor” Regulus said dryly, James chuckled.
“You guys actually didn’t know?” James questioned.
“No!”
“Not even when James' insane infatuation for Lily just randomly disappeared?” Regulus asked.
“NO!” They all responded.
"Not even when I didn’t tell you why and how I left the household?”
“Oh my god, everything makes sense now.”
“Okay but this is not over, we will have our wedding” Dorcas said decisively.
