Epilogue!
Epilogue
“This is stupid” Regulus grudged.
“No it’s not, we told you we would get our wedding eventually!” Pandora said.
Regulus groaned, “We’ve been married for two, almost three years already!”
“But we missed it!” Mary and Lily said, continuing fixing his hair.
“Fine! Have your ceremony!”
It was Christmas break at the Potters. Mary, Lily, Marlene, Dorcas, Pandora, Barty, Evan and the Marauders were all gathered in the backyard for a small wedding ceremony for Regulus and James, as they missed the “real ceremony”.
Euphemia and Fleamont walked out the backdoor with food, there were cookies, drinks, a cake, and different types of meals, they placed it down on a table nearby.
Regulus didn’t feel really comfortable with a big ceremony, and even though James had been planning his since he was 12, he would give it up any day for his Reggie. In the end it’s not about the big white wedding, but it’s about marrying who you love, according to James.
Plus, in this wedding they managed to make Barty a flower girl, so it’s really a win for everyone.
James stood with his best man Sirius up on the “altar” (It wasn’t really an altar, but they had decided that that specific plot of grass would be the altar, since they had placed a mistletoe floating strategically above it).
James asked Remus to be his best man as well, but he said he would much rather want to be the priest, and Sirius wanted to hand James the ring so badly anyway.
Barty walked towards them with a bouquet and a wooden basket full with rose petals. He threw them happily on the ground as he walked up to the altar, almost jokingly so. Peter followed alongside with his own basket.
As soon as he had made his way up the altar Pandora started playing. She was playing the wedding march on her acoustic muggle guitar she had gotten as a present.
Regulus made his way up the altar, hand in hand with Evan -Fleamont had asked if he wanted to hold his hand, but he politely declined and said that he should only walk James as he was his son -he had offered to walk them both, and that Evan wanted to do it so badly anyway.
“Why am I the bride in this?” he moaned quietly.
“Just shut up and enjoy your wedding you petty fuck” Evan whisper-yelled, Regulus almost started laughing, that was until he saw James.
James was smiling, his hair was barely managed and he wore his beautiful smile as proud as always. Their friends had forced them into fancy robes, and the girls had spent all day fixing Regulus’ unmanageable hair, and he even allowed them to put on a bit of makeup on him.
It seemed James had also allowed the girls to do so, as he had a bit of eyeliner on.
He looked beautiful, so beautiful that Regulus was in fact rendered speechless.
Evan fulfilled his duty and handed over Regulus to James, before sitting down on the ground.
They looked each other in the eyes with admiration for a couple of seconds, before giggling like schoolgirls.
Remus the priest began speaking,
“This is your love story come true, Your journey of marriage begins with "I Do". Cherish this bond, it belongs to only the two of you. Start each day with gratitude and compassion for each other, and unconditional love will follow. Believe in each other, support each other's dreams. Remember to dream together too. Always give more than you think the other needs. Say, "I love you" and "thank you" every day! Trust, respect, and appreciate each other, and love will yield to bloom” he said in a posh voice.
They held each other's hands, looking into each other’s eyes with pure admiration and infatuation.
For once in his life, Regulus didn’t care how sappy everything was, because he was sappy with the love of his life.
“Now we will do our declaration of I do’s, you will repeat with I will…. Or I won’t, that’s up to you, but I wouldn’t recommend it considering you’re marrying Regulus”
“Alright” James chuckled.
“Will you, James, cherish Regulus as your lawful wedded husband, protecting him, and tending to his needs through illness and disappointment?”
“I will”
“Will you strive to understand him, giving him comfort when he seeks it from you? Will you try never to say in anger that which you wouldn’t say in friendship? And when each night comes, will you go to sleep with thanks for his presence at your side and renewed love for him in your heart?”
“I will,” he smiled, almost tearing up.

“Groom and.. groom? I guess, by coming here today, you have reached a crossroads in your lives. You’re turning away from your yesterdays and looking ahead to your tomorrows. Your past is a distant memory. Your future a waiting adventure. It is a new dawn, a new commitment, a new life. The bonds you are forging today will change your lives forever.
Do you, James, promise to take Regulus to be your husband? To play with him and care for him; to make him laugh, and let him cry? To offer your best counsel and give your sincerest support with all the love you have to give?”
“I do”
“Is it your choice that Regulus be the one with whom you wish to spend your life?”
“It is.”

“Yes”
“Is it your choice that James be the one with whom you wish to spend your life?”
“mhm god yes”
“You may now kiss the.. groom? I don’t know-” Remus scratched his head
James kissed Regulus, it was a tender loving kiss, though James held one of his hands in his hair, the other one holding his hand.
Their friends whistled and cheered as they parted, both smiling and tearing up.
Regulus was happy.
