Chapter 1
Newt and Grindelwald went to a dragon preserve to see if they could help, there was a dragon who was not taking to the reserve well, it was not eating and they thought, perhaps newt would know a way to get it to eat since he had felt with dragon's during the war,
Newt had decided he would go and see if he saw anything that would make it uncomfortable there at the reserve, dragon's don't like to eat if they do not feel safe to do so, they were quirky like that and some were just picky eaters so it was hard to tell, with just a report and not being there in person to see what was going on
Grindelwald was happy that Newt was dragging him along..it showed that he trusted him
Newt was happy that grindelwald wanted to tag along for the trip..most people would not have wanted to go with him for something like that..but grindelwald made the time for him... although newt had a bit of a surprise for grindelwald in-store he just hoped that grindelwald would like it...
Newt was nervous about it.. infact it was best he stop thinking about it before he talked himself out of it
They apperated to the dragon reserve and went into the office... Mariana the main owner of the reserve was waiting for them in the office
Mariana was surprised to see grindelwald there but decided it would be best to remain quiet about it...she didn't want a upset dark lord on her land...it would not be good for business
Mariana said, "thank you Newt for coming out to check on the dragon."
Newt said it is no problem, "I like animals more than people, most of the time that is."
Grindelwald laughed at his lieblings response to that.
Mariana guided them to the dragon in question.
Newt was outraged at what he saw and asked, "why is it chained?"
They had chained it securely so that it could barely move around it broke Newt's heart to see it.
Mariana said, "it kept trying to escape, we have only had it for three days and it about broke through the ward eight time's, it has tried to attack the employees as well, we do not know why it is so aggressive."
Newt angrily said, "because it doesn't want to be here...it's a nesting mother she probably has hatchlings...who ever caught her probably did so when she was getting food."
Mariana coldly said, "I'm sure if that is the case they have frozen to death or starved by now, so how do we get her to calm down stay in the reserve and eat."
Grindelwald knew that was the wrong thing to say to his liebling if there was one thing Newt hated more than anything it was callus people who did not care for animals... taking care of said animals.
Newt said, "the dragon will not be happy until she gets back to her nest and sees it for herself... although the odds are slim they could be alive...and you madam should not be in charge of animals, if you do not care for them, it was obvious she is a nesting mother you should be ashamed of yourself."
Mariana said, "my job is to look after the one's here, not run around looking for a nest...I guess we will just sedate and force-feed the dragon if you will not help."
Newt said, "you will be doing no such thing... Grindelwald sorry about this."
Newt hopped on the back of the dragon and summoned Grindelwald to him and broke the chain...Newt crashed the wards just as they got to them and off they went on a adventure to find the nest... hopefully the dragonets would be okay when they got there...it was possible that they were still alive but weak and if so Newt was going to help them.
Grindelwald said, "and I thought I was the impulsive lawbreaker....you just stole a dragon...a literal dragon and it's not even complaining that we are on its back."
Grindelwald was amazed at the fact Newt had acted as impulsive as grindelwald normally did
Newt said, "she trust us because we helped her by setting her free...she is focused on getting back now...if you want to leave you can but I'm staying' if they are still alive she will need help with them."
Grindelwald said, "this is the most fun I have had in several days so count me in... although I have to admit that was the most badass escape/theft I have seen."
Newt laughed and said, "what can I say...I couldn't just leave her here to suffer or the hatchlings if they are alive...the dragon knows where they are I do not."
The dragon soared up and down and around a mountain in a unique pattern then a cave was visible and the dragon went into the cave...
Newt and Grindelwald got down and back onto the ground in the cave as soon as they could do so safely.
Newt saw that the hatchlings were alive and the mother dragon was trying to warm them up with her body heat.
Newt approached slowly as to not startle her with his wand on the ground so the dragon could see he meant no harm to them.
The dragon allowed him to approach the nest and Newt bowed to the dragon in greeting, before moving closer slowly so he could check on them, he casted a wandless warming charm and the dragon inclined its head, in acknowledgement that he was helping although she was keeping a close eye on Newt.
Grindelwald was watching Newt with amazement at his bravery because not even Grindelwald would mess with a nesting mother...even if it was only to aid it... Grindelwald also thought it was heart melting to see Newt so Caring, although he was worried that the dragon would react badly but so far it seemed that Newt had gained its trust.
Newt summoned a electrolyte solution that they could use to help hydrate the little dragons.
The dragon sniffed it before deciding it would not hurt the hatchlings, so she allowed Newt into the nest with it.
A few hours later the hatchlings were perking up and moving around a little so Newt gave them some food and watched as they went to sleep because they had full stomachs, although he was monitoring them to make sure that they were okay.
Grindelwald was watching and found it amusing Newt in a dragons nest, surrounded by sleeping dragon hatchlings who were using him as a pillow and a mother dragon wrapped around them all protectively.
Grindelwald was sitting beside the nest the mother dragon not particularly liking him when he tried to get closer than that, so he would just contently observe his liebling work.
Newt started hissing in a dragon way and the dragon chirped at him...Newt made another noise and gestures to the briefcase and the nest.
Grindelwald figured Newt was trying to convince the dragon to let him move her nest into the briefcase.
A hour later grindelwald was helping float a dragon nest with hatchings and the mother still in it into the briefcase...when they were done.
Grindelwald turned to Newt and his heart melted, when he saw the smile on his lieblings face it was worth doing this a million times just to see that smile.
Newt turned to Grindelwald and gave him a soft smile.
Newt said, "I kinda had something planned but that didn't really work out the way I thought it would, so I guess I'm going to be impulsive and improvise this as well..."
Grindelwald laughed and said, "I'm sure you will surprise me either way liebling"
Newt laughed nervously and said, "I'm sure it will"
Newt was doing this because he knew that grindelwald would not push him and newt was not sure how to say..that grindelwald would not be pushing him.
Newt shuffled before pulling a box out of his pocket and handing it to grindelwald.
Grindelwald opened it and was stunned at what he saw.
Grindelwald said, "is this what I think it is liebling?"
Newt squeaked, "yes it is a marriage proposal...will you marry me?"
Grindelwald said, "yes I will... although I have to admit I'm surprised that you asked me."
Newt said, "I was not sure if you would .. because you don't want to push me I figured this way would be clear."
Grindelwald laughed and newt logic before pulling him into a soft kiss.
Newt smiled as they pulled apart
Grindelwald went back to admiring the ring that newt had picked for him...it was a black ring with a swirling silver and brown core.. that appears to be the same shades as Grindelwald's eye's.
Newt said, "your eyes almost resemble a border Collie or a husky...they are lovely."
Grindelwald laughed at Newt's attempt at complimenting him, most would probably be insulted, but he understood that creatures were special to Newt, so to be compared to one was warming.
Grindelwald said, "and you liebling have the eyes of a thunderbird."
Newt blushed at that.
