Fukuzawa Yukichi
Fukuzawa sat in his office as he sipped on his tea. He had finished the paperwork given to him and finally found some time to relax. It was relatively calm today. Meaning something was coming; it was on the horizon, and Fukuawa knew to be ready. He would be ready for what awaited him. Or so he thought…
As he relaxed, he suddenly felt something be ripped away from himself. As if something had stolen a part of his soul and left the rest to rot in agony and emptiness. He placed his tea down and held his hand to his heart. It hurt for a moment, but now he just felt… Alone. Empty. That is before his world lit up with a calming coldness only reminiscent of one of his subordinates. Dazai Osamu. The cold yet bright glow overtook his body, and he felt as if nothing had happened. The lonely and empty feeling disappeared, and everything in his body went back to normal.
Fukuzawa stood up. This was not normal. It seemed as though Dazai, despite being nowhere in sight, had somehow nullified some type of ability that had affected Fukuzawa.
Fukuzawa walked towards the door, but then some type of shock went through his body. It was instantaneous and caused Fukuzawa’s body to feel as if his weight had doubled. Soon, a bright, soft yellow light took over his body. This all happened in an instant, and it barely gave Fukuzawa time to react as he fell to one knee, now kneeling as his body returned to normal.
Fukuzawa heard someone groan from behind him. He quickly turned, Katana in hand, as he prepared his stance. His eyes were met with a lady with a slight yellow glow to her. She began to stand up, and Fukuzawan did the same. He was slightly more relaxed as he felt this woman meant no harm, but he did not dare lower his guard. As the woman stood at her full height, Fukuzawa was able to take in her features and attire.
She stood around 6 '7 ft, she had long silver hair and was dressed in a very eccentric kimono. She resembled that of an Orian. But the thing that stood out was her eyes. Her eyes were a beautiful golden, but her sclera and pupils were what set Fukuzawa off. Her sclera was pitch black, and her pupils were pure white. Even though she resembled a human, she clearly wasn’t one.
The woman finally got her barings and looked at Fukuzawa. Her eyes widened as Fukuzawa’s eyes met her own. She then slowly turned before reaching a hand out.
-”Not possible…”
She murmured as she stepped closer. Fukuzawa was already unsteady, and with her coming closer, it didn’t help.
-”Who are you?”
He said sternly as he readied his Katana. The woman looked slightly offended.
-”How dare you raise your blade at me! I am your ability! You should treat me with the utmost respect and kindness!”
The woman said arrogantly as she backed away from the Katana. Fukuzawa’s eyes widened.
-”What?”
He asked as if wondering if what he heard was correct. He lowered his blade slightly as he left his stance.
-”Oh, have I not introduced myself? How informal. my apologies.”
The woman said calmly, as if her little outburst just moments ago had never happened, as she graciously bowed before Fukuzawa.
-”My name is Minami, or as you like to call me, All Men Are Equal. I am your… Uh… Ability, was it? No matter. It’s truly a pleasure to finally meet you in person, Yukichi-Sama.”
The woman, now known as Minami, introduced herself with a small, warm smile as she straightened herself back up again.
“Though, how I have somehow physically materialized is beyond my understanding. My apologies.”
Fukuzawa was stunned and somewhat put off that this woman was her ability. It seemed as if she had known him for as long as someone like Mori had, yet he had never truly met her.
-”You must be confused, but I, unfortunately, am as well.”
Minami said sorrowfully, as if she was disappointed. Which she was. She was disappointed she didn’t understand what was going on; this shouldn’t have been possible to begin with, after all.
-”Perhaps it would be better to talk about this over some tea.”
Fukuzawa said sternly, even if he didn’t mean for it to come off that way. Minami seemed to light up a bit at the promise of tea.
-”That sounds pleasant.”
Minami answered just as sternly, if a little bit more gently.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Minami and Fukuzawa both sat at Fukuzawa’s desk. Both had teas in their hands as they sat in silence. They had spoken slightly about their predicament. When Fukuzawa spoke of the time he felt as though a part of his soul had disappeared, Minami agreed and said for a moment it felt as though she was being erased from existence. It was a painful experience. That is before Yoko’s ability seemed to have saved her from some unknown force. When Fukuzawa asked who Yoko was, Minami responded with,
-”Oh, you know her as No Longer Human. Dazai-Sans, uh, Ability.”
Minami still wasn’t used to using the word ‘Ability’ to describe Skills and their Soul Energies. She shook it off as Fukuzawa agreed, saying that it seemed like Dazai(And his Ability) had somehow saved them from having Minami be erased or stolen away from Fukuzawa.
-”Though, it seems as though Yoko-Kun, and Dazai-San I suppose, saving us has caused us to separate, giving me a physical body.”
Minami added as Fukuzawa hummed in agreement. Minami was much more talkative than Fukuzawa, so she carried most of the conversation, but they both gave ideas and agreed on things. After a while, they spoke and agreed upon one thing. And that was to find out who did this and see if there were bad side effects. Such as, “Are the users still able to use their abilities?” Sadly, due to Fukuzawa’s ability not being very physical or one they can demonstrate themselves at all, they can not prove this to be the case.
