Chapter 8

~Y/n~

"It's for you."

My heart dropped. In a good way, of course. I didn't think I could ever feel this way for him, but I did. And this proved it. But I...couldn't accept this. One, it was probably expensive, and two... I shouldn't fall for him.

"I won't wear it." I said, lying right to his face, "It's...not..."

"You love it so much that you can't even say something bad about it." He smirked. In a moment, he unclasped the necklace and stepped forward, his hands behind my head and clasping it back together. His fingers brushed against the back of my neck to pull my hair out and over the necklace chain, and it fell nicely over my collarbone.

"And I saw you staring at it so I had to get it for you." He said, with a smile. He was closer than usual, but not enough to make it awkward.

My hands traced where the pendant was, it was light and felt like nothing on my skin, "I- I can't possibly-"

"Not accept it." He smirked, "Besides, you look beautiful with it on."

I blushed, I couldn't try hiding it. When he said that... I might as well die right now. This was wrong, there was no way he could ever even like me back. He would never like someone like me. A mudblood...

"Thank you, Draco," I said, calling him by his first name. I didn't even think twice about it because at this point he was my friend. More than a friend...to me at least.

"Are you blushing Y/n?" He teased me, "Did I make you nervous just now?"

I blushed even harder as he said those words, he was still close to me but it was also the way he said my name. Y/n. I never liked my name...until now. It was the way his voice perfectly pronounced it the way was intended to be said.

He took a step closer, as I took one back. And he did so over and over with a sly smirk on his face until my back hit the stone railing of the stairs. His hands were holding the railing on either side of me, effectively preventing escape. My eyes were wide, and my heart was about to jump out of my chest.

This isn't happening.

I looked to the side not wanting to make eye contact with him, "What...are you doing?" I muttered quickly. I couldn't bear to make eye contact with him...

"Do I?" He asked once more, his face getting closer to mine, "Do I make you nervous, darling?"

The nickname almost rolled off his tongue, almost making your eyes roll back into your brain. His right hand came up to my face, tilting it to make me look at him. I just shut my eyes, but I could feel his breath on my cheek now. He was getting even closer.

"Does your heart flutter...when I'm this close?" His whispers were breathy on my lips, he was right there... I wanted to inch forward and close the gap but...

I felt him move away, as I opened my eyes and stood a good distance from me, with a small smile, "I'm sorry Y/n, I couldn't help myself. You're too cute not to tease..."

My heart sank. Not in a good way. I clenched my fists, and stood at the stairs, waiting for one to come by once again. I didn't want to talk to him.

"Y/n I-"

"Enough, Draco. You can't just do that to someone and mess with them like that." I pressed my nails into my palms, my knuckles turning white.

"Oh? And why is that?" He asked, turning his head to look at me.

I looked straight ahead, "Because I-'' I started to tear up. I don't know why I am even crying. I know what the response is going to be, I am 100% sure of it. The words 'I love you' to my parents could barely come out of my mouth without me cringing. Don't get me wrong, I love my family dearly, I don't display love very well. And that was bad because... well, this.

I sucked in a breath as my voice broke, "Because I love you."

I refused to let a tear roll past my eye, but when I blinked... I didn't dare look at Draco. However, he had other plans. Draco's hands then took my face and turned it to make me face him, I didn't want to look at him but I had to. His eyes were wide and there was a smile on his face.

"Why are you crying?" He said smiling and then wiping my tears with his fingers, "It's alright darling, I love you too." He said which made me spellbound. I was shocked. He continued to hold my face and wipe under my eyes with his thumbs so tears couldn't roll past my cheeks. My mind didn't process any of this.

"I- You...what?" I asked my brows furrowed, "You're mistaken, there's no way-"

"I am not mistaken, Y/n." He said calmly, I can assure you that I feel the same way."

"...what...?" I breathed, I couldn't make out any words.

Draco moved his hands to my clenched fists, and gently pried them open, holding them for a bit. His thumb moved along the back of my hand, "Have I made you speechless, Y/n?" He looked to the side, "There's a staircase coming this way, you should get on it."

I nodded, "Yes...erm- goodnight...Draco." I said as his hands let go of mine as I stepped onto the moving stairs, I was taken from one side of the room to the other and stepped off. When I looked back, he was waiting for me to disappear from his sight.

"Don't wander." He called and I nodded before walking through the halls, leaving his sight. As soon as I made it to the entrance of the Common room, the painting closed behind me and I just stood there. Thinking.

"Bloody hell," I whispered, putting a hand on my forehead, trying to keep my brain from becoming mush.

Did that happen? I confessed my love to Draco, and he said the same thing. He likes me- loves me. This was great!

This was bad. Everyone's going to hate me. Harry's going to kill me. We have to keep this secret... I mean, what if his father found out? His father hates mudbloods... I walked further into the common room, it was empty except of course for Harry. I had a huge smile on my face and he noticed.

"What are you all giddy about? Did you buy more of those fireworks for Fred and George?" He asked. I just shook my head and left. After all, I was too stunned to speak.
