Harry and Hermione became friends on the Hogwarts Express.
Hermione always send letters about them spending time together and photos of the two. They also send muggle friendly ones so that her parents can show her relatives.
They start dating in their fifth year, but Hermione's aunt and cousins think she's just making it up.
Summer after the war, Her cousins are visiting and making fun of her when Harry shows up to take her on an expensive date in order to make her cousins look stupid.
Alternatively, Harry could visit her over the summer and while on a walk they encounter Hermione's primary school bullies, one of who tries to talk down to Hermione and flirt with Harry, who ignores her brags about how in love with Hermione he is and how she's the smartest girl he's ever known.
