Bitchface & go fuck yourself
Rain, the way its rhythmic melody hit the pavement , the shape of the raindrop as it rolled down a car window, the coldness of the drop as it landed on skin, everything about rain is beautiful. It pained drew that he had to use an umbrella, letting out a puff from his cigarette, smoke vanishing slowly into the air.
" hey drew! ” a shrill, beaming voice called out to him.
Drew whipped his head to find a blonde waving at him, soaked in the cries of the sky, wearing his grey shirt, with no sign of his iconic collared jacket.
"Uh...hi?"
He murmured as his eyes traveled up and down Jake's body, his expression one of disgust. His eyes, narrow slits, scanned Jake with an air of disapproval. He let out a deep, irritated sigh as he looked at the man, clearly not impressed with what he saw.
"Why aren't you wearing your jacket?
Drew integrated his voice coming put a bit too bitter than intended, quietly regretting his tone of voice
"Oh ehh..." Jake scratches the back of his head
"Whatever just cover up.."
As Drew pulled Jake towards him, he instinctively looked up at the sky once more, observing the gentle sway of the umbrella's canopy beneath the rainfall. With each passing second, the frilly trims of the umbrella's base, its antiquated appearance a stark contrast to the modern surroundings, caught his attention. There was an odd sense of comfort in their shared moment beneath the umbrella, a small pocket of solace amidst the downpour.
Taking out another cigarette with his teeth while reaching for his cigarette lighter, and with a soft click an illuminating fume irrupted from the lighter, placing it underneath the cig
"You...you smoke?" Jake stuttered gently placing his hand over his mouth
"You don't?" Drew responded with a raised eyebrow, taking the cigarette from his lips and exhaling a plume of smoke. He bit back any disparaging remarks he was tempted to make and instead hummed, his facial expression, a neutral mix of skepticism and suspicion. "is that surprising?" Jake shot back quickly rubbing his hands together, trying to generate enough friction for some sorts of warmth
"No not really.." drew dropped the cigarette onto the pavement floor, stomping on it softly "you don't look like you would" jake glanced back at drew hesitant to speak, "how did you even get that?
"I Bought it"
"No i mean.. " he beckoned. "aren't you underage? They didn't card you or anything?" His eyes averted on the concrete sidewalk kicking a miniature pebble with his foot as he walked
"No, the Pakistani guy never cards you, the Mexican one does" He brings the cigarette to his mouth, taking a long puff and letting the smoke escape through his lips. Pitter-pattering against the rough stone growing harsher and more quick paced
"uh huh." He cursed himself internally, fiddling with the Band-Aid placed on his hand, not knowing how to fill in the awkward silence that lingered "can i.. uhh.. nevermind.." Jake let out another sigh, trying to shake off the thought before it could fully form in his mind.
"What? you want one?"
"Uh...sure?" A lopsided grimace appeared on his face, his lips turning downwards, not meeting drews apposing piercing glare, he felt drew shove a pack of cigarettes. Examining the box, “Seven star cigarettes.." he whispered softly, examining the shape in his hands, flipping it over and over and over again.
"Are you gonna take one?" Jake locked eyes with the magenta haired boy, his expression was one of disdain, and he clutched the lighter tightly, flicking it open to produce a flame that danced between them. The magenta haired boy waited patiently,
Watching slender fingers gingerly reach for the cigarette, as he moved cautiously toward the flame. With a gentle touch, he carefully places the cigarette upon the fire, entranced by the smoke which billows and grows, each puff of smoke more radiant than the next.
"You okay jake?" Drew cautiously asked, placing a hand on Jake's shoulder, examining Jake's slightly uncomfortable face distort in one of surprise, noticing dark pouches underneath his eyes.
"m fine!.. just—.." Jake scratched the nape of his neck once more, unable to help himself as the smoke from the cigarette hit his throat with a sharp intensity. His cough was soft yet persistent.
Well..you still up for genshin tonight? Liam and henry canceled so—" drew offered, a slight, close-lipped smile tugging at the ends of his lips, blowing his hair off his forehead.
Liam and Henry had both bailed on their plans, as usual, leaving Drew hanging. Drew couldn't help but crack a small, lopsided grin as he pushed his hair out of his eyes. It wasn't really surprising, given their track record, but it was still a little disappointing.
"Jake fidgeted nervously, avoiding eye contact. "I'm sorry, I'm really busy right now," he mumbled, picking at his cuticles. His palms were sweaty and his heart was pounding in his chest. He was lying, of course, but he couldn't help feeling guilty about it.
Busy... right…' drew , his eyes narrowing skeptically as he studied Jakes quirks. His fidgeting gave him away - the way his fingers picked at his cuticles, the nervous grit of his teeth, the muttered curses that s seeped through his lips. he knew him better than anyone, and he could tell when he was trying to hide something.
"What are you hiding, Jake?" he questioned, his voice calm yet firm.
"It's nothing! I swear!" Jake stood there, mouth slightly agape, his expression filled with guilt and surprise as he turned to look at drew with a glint of softness in his amber eyes. Drew gritted his teeth, his anger boiling inside him. He desperately wanted to lash out at him and scream 'cut the bullshit', but he clenched his fists and bit down on his tongue, holding back his emotions and choosing to stay silent instead, taking out another cigarette and placing it between his fingers
A ringing sound erupted from jakes back pocket, Jake quickly fumbled around inside his back pocket, pulling out his phone before hitting the answer button to accept the call. “Yeah? Who is it?” He asked, trying to keep the uncertainty out of his voice as he brought the phone up to his ear. "Oh mom!" He 'happily' retorted "Ill be there in a sec, bye!"
Jake couldn't help but glance at Drew, hesitating before forcing a small, fake smile onto his face. He quickened his pace, attempting to outrun the rain that threatened to soak him to the bone. He felt awkward and out of place, but kept his composure as best he could, wanting to avoid appearing foolish in front of Drew, He didn't notice for a moment but his walk's momentum is fast enough to be considered a run.
Drew stood there, his anger palpable as his finger snapped on the umbrella's base. A surge of fury coursed through his veins, and he couldn't hold back the urge to act. With a determined look in his eyes, Drew stomped back towards the place he reluctantly called home.
