Chapter 7
Chapter 7
Year 422 of the First Age (A few minutes after Prongs left Harry/Lomion)
Of Light, Happiness, and Forgiveness
The patronus charm had always been a spell meant to ward off the darkness, bring hope, and remember love in the darkest of times. However, what Lomion would not realize until much later was that his patronus Prongs was special. Prongs was one of the oldest Patronus' to exist. He had more memories than most and as such had a bit of a will of his own. He had become a reflection of his own masters heart and that beautiful heart was about to shine across most of Beleriand. His master had given him a task and he was going to fulfill it. He was going to bring back these lights to their rightful owner! And so heeding his masters command
He ran
With the speed of a comet Prongs galloped west. In a flash of silver blue light he ran across the lands of Beleriand. Through the lands of Himlad to between the mountains of Ered Gorgoroth and the Northern borders of Doriath. Then the shining stag turned south for the forest of Bered Eithel and then above the caves that hid the kingdom of Nargathrond. All dark creatures could not touch him, any orcs that saw him literally turned to dust before his light for he was joy and hope incarnate. To the elves he passed, well they didn't quite know what they were seeing but they knew this was no dark creature and stayed out of the way of the ray of silver blue light.
Prongs kept going, he knew he needed to get to the water. He was headed for the Havens of Sirion and within less than an hour he had made it. The elves were shocked at his appearance but felt no fear as this being before them radiated such a warm light. Many cleared the way for him as he headed to the peer with a crown shining with the three twinkling lights of his charge.
Many muttered in reverence and Prongs thought he heard "Elbereth!" Well he didn't know who that was but that didn't matter at the moment. As Prongs galloped faster towards the peer, where he finally had a visual of the sea, for a brief moment he stopped and was met with an old looking elf that stared straight into his eyes. Prongs stared back and as he gazed into the elf's eyes he saw..
Oh this person is sad inside, let's help.
In a movement as fast as a blink Prongs sprang at the elf and before Cirdan could move he was suddenly nuzzled in the face by the glowing miracle before him. As soon as Prongs touched him his fea exploded from the emotions the being was shooting through him.
He felt joy. He felt love. Every happy memory he ever had was replaying in his head. The hope in his heart that was fading immediately reignited into a fiery storm.
With the same speed Prongs had pounced on him he pulled away and Cirdan let out tears of relief. He then quickly collected himself and immediately knew where this being of light wanted to go. He looked at the stag and pointed his hand towards the sea and said "West across the Sundering Seas, that is where Valinor lies." Prongs looked towards where he was pointing and did something no other Patronus had ever done
He let out a sirens call (Ahhh Ahhhhh Ah) and leaped into the sea.
He ran.
He was galloping on the surface of the sea on a moonless night. The stars normally the only light on the sea but not tonight. He was a shining stag running across the Sundering Seas.
His voice called out to the the one needing the lights he carried. He felt their pull and continued to run until he finally saw land approaching. He galloped faster and when he touched the beach he sang again even louder
AHHHH AHHH Ahhh
He felt the pull again of the owner and pranced towards the source before the gobsmacked Teleri of Alqualonde could get their bearings. He rushed further North West through what he didn't know were the streets of Ilmarin and trotted the pass of Azelohar where the two trees once lit the world. As Prongs kept going he felt the sadness of some of the elves and started shining his light even brighter. He was the only light across this moonless night and was spreading the light of joy his very being bored through all he passed. He then finally saw his destination coming up.
He saw the Halls of Mandos.
He sped up! He sped up even more and with his antlers thrust forward he ran straight for the gate. He sang one last time louder than he had before!!
AHHHH AHHHHH AHHHHHHH!!!
As if answering his call the lights on his antlers SHINED with the light of the stars and he was ushered right through the gates of Mandos without the door even being opened. Many of Mandos's Maiar froze at the sight that had just appeared before them. However, before any of them could move and try to stop this supposed intruder the stag of light suddenly rushed passed them and into the grey obsidian halls of Mandos. They couldn't keep up with him, Prongs was too fast for them. As they followed the stag deeper into the halls they reached a bridge that oversaw all the levels of the halls. Before they could think to summon their lord to help them catch this prancing deer, they saw the stag approach the edge of the bridge and jump! But what they saw next awed even them
Prongs was leaping to the deepest parts of the Halls on columns of conjured silver light
(Think of the scene where Elsa jumps on columns of Ice in Ahtohallan)
Finally he reached the deepest parts of the halls.
It was very quiet and Prongs saw some other floating lights moving about. Some looked like a person but he knew one thing for sure. Everyone here was very sad and hurt. The lights in his antlers suddenly flashed again to somewhere behind him and when Prongs turned he saw them. In the back darkest corner of the hall he saw a lady in gray crying and in her lap was a dark haired elf that looked see through. Like he was a ghost but where his heart should be there were clearly holes, more specifically there were 3 holes. The lady looked sad and she kept stroking his hair similar to a mother and kept saying she was "sorry." He didn't know why but Prongs immediately knew the elf in her lap was who he had to give the lights to.
On that note he trotted towards the two. The lady gasped when she looked up and saw him but Prongs didn't mind. He then kneeled down his head with the lights to the elf but something was wrong. The lights weren't moving! They weren't leaving his crown no matter how hard he pushed them towards the elf. Suddenly Prongs realized something..
...Oh he's really sad...he doesn't know they're here because he's too sad....Well that won't do!! But what can I do? Everyone here is sad. Oh wait! Master's feelings can help!
With that thought Prongs sang but this was different. It wasn't like the siren song he sang before. No, he sang a song his master loved singing and one he had showed a friend that was once not a friend. This was a song that shared Harry/Lomions journey of life and his feelings through all the love and friendships he built.
There you are; finally I found you.
Nienna stared at the singing stag with her jaw agape and in her lap Feanor stirred.
Let go of the dark, let go of the pain, one step at a time.
Remember the good
Recall the light.
Take the first step for you are not lost.
People are waiting for you.
You're not alone.
Feanor raised his head. As he did the slain Noldor and Teleri looked towards the stag as he sang.
A curious soul
An innovator
An achiever
One who builds and learns from every clue sent your way.
Your tower may have toppled but the pieces can be placed back.
Rebuild and learn from the sorrow.
It won't be the same as before, but scars can heal.
The stags light was getting brighter and now lit the whole hall in calm silver light. Feanor reached out, one of the lights flew towards him.
Don't give up.
Don't give up on everything.
There's so much more to see of the world; to see of life.
You are still loved.
They're waiting for you.
You've done wrong, but remorse is the most perilous hill to climb.
But don't stop there, keep going.
If you regret then make right by the wrong that was done.
The second light flew towards his heart.
All of your anger; all of your sorrow will settle.
The flames will simmer and you will weather this storm.
It will fade, but you must let it.
Don't hold on to it because if you do then the one who truly caused all this hurt wins.
All of you are stronger.
All of you have hearts that evil can't begin to conquer.
You can get through this.
The grief and anger of the Teleri was fading, both them and Feanor were realizing their mistakes. The felt Harry/Lomion's loss, happiness, the unconditional love of his parents, joy from friends, joy from mended relationships, joy from forgiving enemies, joy from forged families, joy from the beauties of the world, joy from unexpected persons, and even joy in death from a life long lived.
Believe in yourself again.
Make it right.
Heal, believe, and stand even if it's hard.
Take the hand that's being reached out.
For all the pain there can be joy again.
Reach for the light; reach for another chance.
I believe in you; in all of you.
You are not abandoned; none of you.
No one is getting left behind.
If you truly yearning it.
None are undeserving of a second chance.
You know this.
Please
Please
Remember
Deep in your heart.
From the depths of your being, always know
"You are more than worth saving"
He was telling them they were worth healing, that it's okay to be angry, but that there can also be a future. Feanor was crying and in a broken voice said "I'm sorry." The Teleri heard and they listened. What happened was both their faults. It was time to move on and move forward.
Finally, the third light reached Feanor's heart.
When the final light merged with the now healed fëa of Fëanor; he shined. The light coming from him lit the whole hall and for a brief moment his very being blazed with an unfathomable brilliance! A silver flame the color of starlight. As he burned with a new found fire he heard the young voice of who had done this. He heard the voice of the child that had given him another chance, and as he did he could not help the touched warmth that spread through his soul "I'd very much like to know you grand-uncle."
Then just as fast as the light came it swiftly dimmed and as Feanor collapsed Nienna swiftly caught him. She laid him gently back on her lap. She couldn't believe what she just saw. She was just grieving a few moments ago for their inability to heal Feanor and the pain their actions caused; but then this happened! Just as she was thinking all this with tears running down her cheeks she suddenly froze. The stag of stunning silver had come up to her and started nuzzling her tear stained cheeks. Then similar to what happened to Cirdan she felt an overwhelming happiness spread through her. It was so profound her fellow siblings felt the shift as well.
In the span of a single heart beat she remembered all the joys she had experienced and more than that she felt the very essence of the Master of this miracle before her. She felt the child's joys, sorrows, loss, journey through anger, unlooked for relationships, refound family, happiness from enemies turned friends, empathy, sympathy, and above it all a still burning desire to love and be loved.
It was in that moment that for the first time since the Ainulindalë, the tears of the Lady of Mercy and Sorrow had finally ceased and in their place.....
.....was a true smile.
This was the sight that greeted the Lord of Mandos and his Maiar as he slammed the door into the hall open. He only caught a short glimpse of the shining stag before it disappeared into a whisp of light; it's task now complete.
He swiftly approached his sister and almost did a double take when he bore witness to her now holding a healed Feanor. He swiftly scanned the room and found that the slain Teleri and Noldor were also seemingly healed of most of their pain as well. He couldn't comprehend how any of this had happened.
"Sister, what is this? How has this come to pass?" said Namo with an emotionless face but hopeful tone.
"I do not know my brother, I do not know" said Nienna in an almost humouress tone.
What these two Ainur would not notice until later was that in the higher levels of the halls the ghostly figures of an Ellon and Elleth were crying. They had felt the feelings from the stag and held each other as they whispered "oh yonya."
Back to the Present
It was still snowing on the mountains overlooking the March of Maedhros but then again that wasn't surprising. It was the bloody North, it'd be stranger if it suddenly started being sunny all the time. But that was besides the point, the main issue right now was that Harry/Lomion was PISSED! It had been 6 days since he healed Maedhros. NOT POISONED! And in that time he was barely able to leave his tent. I mean sure he had spent 3 of those days sleeping and being a lazy couch potato but you would too after you basically broke into hell, stole from a dark lord, trolled a dark lord and his ugly minions, freed all his prisoners, healed a broken soul, ended a horrible oath, and still had time to spike several healing potions into your cousins drink. In his defense he should be getting at least 2 weeks of paid leave for all this but no. No, what really annoyed him to the point of nearly ripping his hair out or conjuring some snapping cabbages to swing his blackjack at to vent (no this doesn't count as animal abuse, they're not sentient), was the tenaciousness of his Feanorian cousins!
I mean seriously after he blasted out of Maedhros' office, the energy these elves spent to try and track him down was rediculous! Who uses war horses to chase a bird!!
Even the ministry wasn't that CRAZY!!!
And what the bloody hell was up with those healers...oof he shivered just thinking about it. Whenever he tried to leave his tent to hunt, while wearing his cloak, he ALWAYS ran into one of Maedhros' men and..was that some of his healers?
...😳why did they have such feral grins On their faces? ..Eeeep.
Yeah no,
That can't be a good sign for him. He had a bad feeling that if he got caught he might have to fight a war to get out of that fortress again! He was also sure at one point he saw that huge dog Huan running around. Now, while it would have been easy to dodge him on a regular day. Doing that while trying to hunt was a different story. There's no way that giant Sauron crushing dog wouldn't pick up the scent of his kill. So it was with this that six days had passed, six days of sitting on his ass, and dwindling his supplies. Sure he could conjure food but it wouldn't have the same nutritional value as real food. By now his magic had fully recovered from his previous endeavors so until these psychos decided to give up the search(which was never but he didn't know that yet😏) his best pastime would be to deal with the other items on his to do list. Which happened to be getting rid of that BLASTED bad luck curse this supposed Doomsman had cast. His efforts at retirement and keeping his relatives alive wouldn't mean anything if he didn't deal with this nuisance ASAP. Heck who knows it might even distract his cousins enough for him to move his tent (Yeah no, but he doesn't know that).
Now, after Harry/Lomion found out about Dumbledore's curse and how he would have died anyway regardless of Snape's intervention. He had spent 100 yrs of his long wizarding life studying curses and how to break them to ribbons. The only difference with this curse though was that some demi-god had cast it, so the logistics would be tricky. However, what worked in Harry/Lomion's favor was that the curse seemed to be cast without a solid foundation, meaning it had too many gray areas and holes that Harry could break. He did have one profound concern though. According to some versions of the book this curse was deigned to be Eru's will, aka the God of this world who may very well be the reason he's even here and with his magic to boot.
A demi-god he could handle, a deity though yeah that's a sleeping bear he didn't want to poke.
So in order to do this without getting himself possibly smitted Greek gods style, would be to try and get this deity's consent. Harry/Lomion very much doubted this deity would want to harm his children like that. No, what probably happened was these supposed "Valar" interpreted their being able to "punish" the Noldor in the first place as consent. Something told him that this deity may not be very happy with his thought children at the moment if they counted that as consent and apparently didn't bother to really get to know his creations at all. I mean seriously poor Miriel simply died in childbirth.
HOW IS THAT BEING MARRED?! YOU DON'T GET TO SAY IF SHE CAN COME BACK OR NOT!!! Oh she's married? Okay then just get a DIVORCE or separate and let Feanor visit when he wants! Sheesh. And if that wasn't enough let's look at the list of their screw ups stemming from their black and white view of things.
1. First being foremost they LET THAT PSYCHO MORGOTH OUT WITH NO SUPERVISION!!!! SERIOUSLY??!! Was Manwe's head full of unhatched chicken eggs??? I can understand brotherly love but come on!
2. They never apologized for ohh I don't know an ELF KING GETTING MURDERED on their lands and by THE RAPID DOG THEY LET OUT NO LESS!!! Hello COMMON SENSE? Anyone Home? NO!! Instead they demand Feanor's creations right after. Creations that if they bothered to really look would have noticed his damn soul pieces were in them!
3. Several of these guys' Maia left them! Sure some may have been unwilling. He wouldn't put it past that perverted demented daddy's boy to pull something like that. But if what he read about Saruman and the other Istari was anything to go by. It was quite obvious a lot of these Maia were not happy in Valinor and they still never bothered, or there was no mention of them trying to figure out what they did wrong. Especially with this supposed World Smith Aule. He'd have to follow up on that later.
4. They continuously painted the Feanorians' as villains for their oath. Yes, they did commit murder and that was inexcusable but they were essentially Imperio'd into it by the damn oath. Which wouldn't have happened a second or third time if his STUPID still unborn cousin Dior had just given them the damn stones. Plus if anyone cared to notice, they were not irredeemable! Aside from death not being permanent for elves, they regretted it and were in so much pain!! Which was more than he could ever say about Voldemort who broke his soul and committed murder galore on purpose with NO REMORSE!
5. A lot of these Maia apparently were not taught to really think for themselves, look at the emotions behind actions, negotiate, or frankly have empathy. Yes, Eonwe you dumb pigeon, you do not tell someone they must face "judgment" when negotiating and then be surprised with what happens next. He almost threw the book when he read that part the first time.
6. The Ainur also didn't seem to know how to communicate their intentions at all or understand what consequences their actions could cause. Big example being whenever Eol complained about Melian never really holding him as a child, stiffening whenever he tried to hug her, and showing blatant favoritism towards Luthien. Ugh facepalm.
7. They spread this Doom to ANYONE leaving Valinor, even the children! The one's who committed the murder okay sure, fair go ahead and banish them, but to apply the curse to the children and those that didn't commit murder and were just related to the perpetrators was WRONG! There's no way this could be Eru's will. No this was short sighted and extremely rash thinking. Bloody hell you let a psycho out of prison with no parole and yet doom your residents to die a horrible death because they want to immigrate??
Yeah no.
This curse had to go.
Only thing was this deity was outside the world in a place called the timeless halls where Harry/Lomion couldn't physically travel to. However, he did have an idea how he could manage a work around. All the Ainur were connected to Eru somehow and since he happened to be a happy mix of both. He was going to use his Maiaran link to essentially ask for permission. It was on that note he finished filling his bottomless pouch with some travel necessities, grabbed Anguirel, exited his tent with his firebolt, and pushed off into the air. It was a crescent moon tonight and gave him enough light to see where he could make his attempt from the higher mountains overseeing the Gap of Maglor. He swiftly found a high peak that appeared to be barren of any residents or travelers. When he landed it was quiet and all he could see were the moon along with the endless stars covering the sky. He always loved the night, moon, and stars. He especially loved them in this life where his mother had named him after the twilight. He walked on top of the snow for a bit till he came upon a spot that looked comfortable enough for him to sit on his knees.
If he was going to do this the very least he could do is get in a comfortable position while being respectful.
He kneeled down on a light patch of snow and then just sat there listening to the blowing wind. Then he looked inside himself and listened. He listened and reached for the song of the world, specifically his song. His authority as the Master of Death, his power over one aspect of existence. Where life is born death must follow, even for immortal beings as they could still be killed. No being can escape death, it must exist in some form as it was a fundamental law of creation. His authority was a piece that connected him to the laws of creation, a thread that pulled him to another source of existence. As Lomion's hair turned silver and eyes radiated emerald with the use of his power, he had found what he was looking for and grabbed on.
The change in the air around him was instantaneous and warm?
What once was a silent hill now felt like a cacophony of energy and sound. He had tugged the string and someone had answered. It felt like an all surrounding force had taken hold of him and was now looking at him as a parent would waiting for their child to tell them something important. It took a moment for Lomion to regain his bearings and realize that they were patiently waiting for him to speak, and so he did or rather he did through his thoughts. In what could be perceived as a blink he communicated all his feelings, wishes, intentions, justification, reasoning, and unknowingly his fears. Now, he completely expected to be rejected or be told that this was fate and couldn't be changed. He expected to hear his actions were against the music or that he was just an anomaly that had entered this world and couldn't interfere with the greater plan. He did not however anticipate what happened next.
A pillar of light exploded from the sky to where he kneeled and an inexplicable warmth filled Lomion's very soul.
It..It was so warm, it was like someone was hugging him and they were happy
...and proud?
Proud that they had reached out.
Proud of his reasoning.
Proud of looking at the song and living beings the way he did.
Proud of his endless love and desire to protect despite his hardships in both lives.
Proud of seeing mistakes and teaching forgiveness.
Oh....this was the feeling of a parent being proud of their child. He started crying, he couldn't help it, the tears wouldn't stop and he didn't want them to. He needed to feel this because there were so few times someone had told him he did good. That someone was proud of him not because of his rank, position, or sacrifice but because he cared. The light surrounding him suddenly felt like hands on his face, gentle hands that were wiping his tears and cradling his fëa in a gentle warmth of comfort and love. It was then he felt the presence give their consent to end the curse but there was a condition. There could be no more killings or kin slaying's, especially with the oath gone. Anymore would damage their souls beyond what they could repair on their own. Any who violated this stipulation would reactivate the curse again and be doomed to need healing in Mandos. Of course Lomion agreed and completely understood the reasoning behind this as this was said out of concern and worry rather than anger. With his goal met he said the words that ended all magic spells in his old home and would now set the Noldor free.
"Finite Incantatem"
The Pillar flashed and spread the spell across the whole of Arda and Aman. All of Eru's children felt the change in the music. They felt the Doom of Mandos disappear at the behest of Eru themselves. He felt his magic draining, the spell had taken a lot out of him. He needed to get back and rest before he completely passed out and was found. His vision was going black and he suddenly felt so tired, almost like he was being lulled to sleep. However, before the blackness finally claimed Lomion he heard a gentle voice coming from the presence that had surrounded him and in the tone a parent takes with their child it said
"Fear not opening your heart sweet child of Twilight"
"For there are those that would love you with all their being"
"Rest now and ease your soul"
"For you have more than earned your happiness"
"It will be alright now little one"
"I promise"
Then Harry/Lómion knew no more.
