Chapter 42
Draco appeared at a run, a deep frown on his face. Behind him followed Pansy, Ginny, Harry, and Professor McGonagall.
“Scorpius... Scorpius...” Draco called out desperately.
“He’s gone,” Pansy said, her voice filled with panic.
They found the boys’ cloaks on the ground. Draco tried to calm Pansy down and protectively rubbed her stomach.
Professor McGonagall consulted the map, her face tense. “He’s disappeared. No, he’s traveling under Hogwarts grounds. No, he’s disappeared...”
“How is he doing this?” Draco demanded, frustration evident in his voice.
“He’s using a rather pretty trinket thingy,” a voice interjected. It was Moaning Myrtle.
“Myrtle!” Draco exclaimed.
“Oops, you caught me. And I was trying so hard to hide. Hello, Harry. Hello, Draco. Have you been bad boys again?” Myrtle asked with a mischievous grin.
“What trinket is he using?” Draco pressed.
“I think it was a secret, but I could never keep anything from you, Draco. How is it you’ve grown handsomer and handsomer as you’ve aged? And you’re taller,” Myrtle flirted.
“Shut up. My son is in danger. I need your help,” Pansy snapped.
Draco turned to Myrtle again. “What are they doing, Myrtle?”
“He’s after saving a dishy boy. A certain Cedric Diggory,” Myrtle revealed.
Harry immediately realized what had happened and was horrified. “But Cedric Diggory died years ago...” Professor McGonagall said, confusion in her voice.
“He seemed quite confident he could get around that fact. He’s very confident, Harry, just like you,” Myrtle added.
“He heard me talking — to Amos Diggory... could he have... the Ministry’s Time-Turner. No, that’s impossible,” Harry pondered aloud.
“The Ministry has a Time-Turner? I thought they were destroyed?” McGonagall asked, incredulous.
“Isn’t everyone so naughty?” Myrtle giggled.
“Can someone please explain what’s going on?” Draco demanded, his patience wearing thin.
Harry took a deep breath. “Albus and Scorpius are not disappearing and reappearing — they’re traveling. Traveling in time.”
